Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Hey, congrats! You did great, and i'm sure your screenplay will be awesome!

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Lucien - Slippery Rocks

Lucien attempts to make it over the rocks without breaking his neck.

Acrobatics
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Am I allowed to assist Gyness?

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

[Lucien - Steep Hill]

Lucien tries to climb the steep hill as best as he can, muttering under his breath while doing so.

Climb vs DC8
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Slipping, he attempts to avoid slipping back down.

Reflex vs DC13
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Nice time to roll a crit.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Sorry, which location should Lucien be at now, and what are the skill checks required?

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Lucien relies on his keen elven vision to spot dry areas so he can use them to get across.

Perception
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

He manages to find dry footholds and skips over them like a girl at a playground. "Come on, Gyness!"

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

[Lucien - Location 7]

Lucien attempts to jump over the large rend in the earth.

Acrobatics vs DC13
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Landing safely on the other side, he breathes a huge sigh of relief.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Lucien passed his fortitude check - does that count as one success and move him from Location 6 to the next location?

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Lucien attempts to slip past the snakes, holding on to his loose parts in order not to make any noise.

Stealth
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Groan

and when that fails, tries to shrug off the snake bites!

Fortitude
1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17

Well, I'll be...

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Slightly confused - what's the fortitude save for?

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Undaunted (or because he can't do anything else), and out of desperation, Lucien tries again!

Acrobatics
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Swimming
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

This time, he manages to make it past the logs easily, the adrenalin pumping through his veins, only to be forestalled by the gigantic rushing waves of the tiny brook.

"i know we're running for our lives," he mutters, "But is that any reason to get my trousers wet?"

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Lucien attempts to get over the slippery logs.

Acrobatics
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

But appears to prefer feeding himself to the troll.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Lucien starts to cast Ghost Sound, in an attempt to throw the troll off the track and give his friends more time to get away.

Ghost Sound to create sounds of them moving in different direction - Will Save DC13

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Lucien, seeing the fallen tree, straps everything down tightly to his body before making the attempt. "I once knew a man who fell pretty hard doing this..." He says. "He could sing pretty well though, especially his high notes.

Acrobatics vs DC8
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

The bard manages to scramble across safely and looses a sigh of relief. "I did enjoy my bass tones."

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

i don't understand - isn't it a Survival check DC15 OR an acrobatics DC10? Or do we get to see what we roll first?

edit: nvm, apparently i can't read.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

"Oh, that tickles!" remarks Lucien as the hair is tied around his wrist.

Spellcraft:
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

This is new to me, being not so experienced with PF. But it does sound like something similar to the skill challenges in 4e.

Will we go in turn order or is there no turn order?

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

"Better make it three, dear Gyness," suggests the elf. "Don't forget that we have to subdue this undead son, somehow bring his body back to the family tomb, behead it with a silver axe, sprinkle holy water upon the headless corpse, and then adorn said sprinkled, headless corpse with that pretty amulet you got there."

He pauses, then adds. "Actually, I'll have a brandy please."

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

"Lord Klaustad - have you found any personal possessions missing of late?" Lucien asks the man. "I have a hunch that someone may have put something of yours on the bridge in order for the troll to sense - and hunt for you."

Turning to the rest of his companions, he says, "If the good lord (pun unintended) can lead the troll away from us, then we can go about fulfilling his request. But right now, our most urgent threat is right outside that door - I don't think we can decide until we know how successful Lord Klaustad will be in leading it away."

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

"Harnin! Lucien calls out, as he spins to question the man. "You said something earlier about the troll - about how he would choose a victim on the bridge when it woke up. What else can you tell us?

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

If the troll is unrelated to the son, why does it seem to be hunting him? Or are they related in some other way?

Especially if the son and the attack on the caravan have an undead thing going and the troll isn't undead?

Get one for me man.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

I'm a bit confused... didn't he say the troll was his son?

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

"Oh you brave, brave people," remarks Lucien, staying back inside. "I will tell tales of your bravery.... if i survive."

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Sure! answers Lucien, who looks around to see if there's another exit... er, point of entry.

ready action to fire arrow at troll entering

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Lucien moves towards the locals, then turns around while cutting a somewhat striking figure and says, "I'll er... protect them from back here."

"With my bow." He adds.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

"Right now..." says the bard, his mouth still stinging from the garlic soup, "Party's in my mouth."

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Wow, I see Corvus and I posted within seconds of each other and quoted the same line.

Must be a hint to the DM (psst, we need some rest.)^^

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

"My my," mutters Lucien as he strings his bow and puts an arrow on it, "A hero's work is never finished, it seems."

"Come now, comrades," He rallies, "No rest for the wicked, and all that jazz."

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

"Troll?" Lucien echoes through garlic-laden breath as he arches both well-trimmed eyebrows. "Well then, it seems that what we encountered was not as 'unusual' after all - at least not around these parts, eh?" Posits the bard, with a little sarcasm thrown in to accompany the garlic.

"We also had some men turn into skeletons and attack us - is that normal around here too or should we consider that... 'unusual'??"

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Roll20 is actually viewable from iPad and Android... if you (or the GM of the campaign) is a subscriber, which costs somewhere in the area of $5 a month.

I do support roll20, so I will be able to access the map using my Android tablet, however I do completely understand that not everyone will want to pay a fee, much less a recurring one.

I have another alternative, from another site which I play at. If you guys could give some feedback as to whether you can view the map here: http://www.pbpmap.com/maps/HATE2/map.php

Its not as pretty as roll20, but its free.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Lucien walks up to the newcomer and bows deeply. Straightening, he opens his mouth to greet him, making sure that his garlic-infused breath is evident. "Lord Klaustad, I am honored to meet you. Pray tell - what exactly would be considered unusual?"

Not sure if this is the right skill for it

In case I created confusion in this campaign as well as the other:

We'd only be using roll20 for the mapping. Instead of clicking onto the maps I've been uploading to my website, you'd go over to roll20 and look at the map. No interactive anything: just a better looking map.

Everything else stays here on this thread: We wouldn't be using the virtual table top or any of that. I'm just looking for an alternative mapping solution.

Will you be allowing us to move and control our own PC icons maybe later on?

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

My luck with dice so far hasn't been that good though. It was tempting, but I really didn't want to put the party in a bad spot.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Seeing that food and water have been brought, Lucien sits down to eat, putting his quiver on the table next to him - but not before taking out one silver-tipped arrow to inspect openly before putting it back into the quiver - ensuring that the woman and the patrons watching them caught a glimpse of it.

Finally, dipping his spoon into the bowl of soup, Lucien breathes in deep. "Ah, what a lovely aroma!" Then proceeds to spoon mouthfuls of the liquid into his open mouth, fighting back tears from the strong, sharp flavors on his delicate palate.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

I think I'll pass on the song and detect magic.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

So I can't, say, make a bluff check to disguise the action?

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

What would it take for Lucien to cast Detect Magic without looking like he's casting at all?

And, we're back!

I did get the chrome plug in for IE and can access roll20 at work (though it doesn't work with ipad).

I will tinker with it a bit. If it looks like the way to go, I'll have each of you create an account and see if you can use it. This is more of a long term project, though.

awesome, let me know if you have any questions. I'll try and answer them, if i can.

Stepping in after using the outhouse, Lucien takes a glance at the dismal surroundings before asking the patrons with a grin, "Is it always so dead in here?"

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

"Well then," remarks Lucien, looking up at the signage."If that isn't an auspicious sign..."

Then, spying the outhouse, adds, "Anyone else need to relieved themselves? " As he makes his way there.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

I liked the first combat on the bridge. Initially I thought I would be quite useless, given I'm only somewhat good with the bow, but I think the Grease spell came in handy, as did the Inspire Courage (though minimally so).

I agree that the map is the most time-consuming part of running combat for a DM, which is why I suggested a web-based map so that players can move their own tokens without you having to do it for them - this would cut down the work for you by half? Less work for you means more fun for you - which means more fun for us? :)

I may have an alternative to roll20 for you, its not as pretty, but i use it on another forum that I play in. Will drop you a pm after setting up a test map.

Edit: I'm fairly new to the Paizo boards and can't seem to figure how to get notifications for new posts aside from RSS feeds. On other forums I can configure such that I get an email alert telling me there is a new post in the game i'm playing, instead of having to check every few minutes. Does anyone know if there's a workaround for this?

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Lucien is moving alongside it, if possible. If anything so he can keep his bow drawn while moving.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

"Let's move then," says Lucien, who was dying - well, not quite - to see what type of beast it was that was coming after them.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

The bridge is still greased, isn't it?

Lucien spins around, bow still notched with the silver arrow, even as the words and motions to a spell are on his lips.

Readies action to cast Daze.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Lucien takes a peek into the wreckage of the carriage, to see if there was anything of value left to salvage, before making sure it wasn't standing in the way of their wagon.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

At the woman's words, Lucien pulls out his bow, notching it with one of the silver arrows given to him earlier as he glances around nervously for a beast. Then he also recalls what she says about her guards being changed into skeletons and attempts to sense if there is magic in the area.

Casts Detect Magic

Still singing his bawdy ditty, the elf skips toward the bridge and hurls the rock at the skeleton. "Get stoned!" He requests, politely.

and don't forget the bonus from inspire courage

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Sorry, that should be Inspire Courage. Because there's nothing to make people more courageous than off-color sexual references.

[Lucien]

"Because its worth SINGING about! quips Lucien in falsetto, as he bursts into a bawdy tavern song that makes use of furniture and kitchen implements as metaphors for sexual references. Of halfling origin, the song's ribaldry and humor takes the mind off their dire circumstances.
