With Desmond's rush forward he will slow to make the trail ready for his friends.

useing action to mark the trail.

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Lucien attempts to get over the slippery logs.

Acrobatics
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

But appears to prefer feeding himself to the troll.

Male Human Cleric 1

1d20 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (16) - 4 + 1 = 13acrobatics check with guidance

Gyness gingerly walks accross the logs using as much patience as his large frame can handle.

Corvus considers her options quickly. Better to avoid being bitten than to see how bad their venom is.

Corvus shimmies her way towards the low road, keeping her movements fluid, natural and as quiet as possible.

Stealth check 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Oops. Forgot Zane passed his rolls.

Round Three - Zane - Crack in the Earth (Location Seven)

Beyond the snakes, a clear path is suddenly rent by a deep, stony [b]Crack in the Earth.

DC15 Acrobatics check to make a giant leap across; or
DC10 Survival to find a way around the crack

One check, two checks, mark path or spell

Corvus attempts to quietly move past the nest of snakes. Unfortunately, perhaps due to Zane passing by moments before, they are active enough that a few rise up and snap at her as she creeps by. As she feels sharp pinpricks in her heel, the fangs obviously breaking through the soles of her boots, she quickly retreats.

There doesn't seem to be any poison raging through her veins, but her foot suffers numbness.

Corvus stays at Location 6. The Paizo roller strikes again.

Seeing Corvus' failed attempt to get past the snakes' nest, Desmond searches the area for something to place over it. Telling the others to stand back, he tosses a huge log atop the nest. Snakes scurry in all directions.

Checks are now DC 13 Stealth/DC 13 Fortitude

Lucien, leaping nimbly atop a log, perhaps showing off a bit in front of the stout cleric, immediately begins windmilling his arms and, after a second of discombobulation, goes sideways into the stream. Before the current can grab him, he dog paddles back to the shore he had just left from.

Gyness, seeing no harm done, smiles and steps stolidly atop the logs.

Concentrating with every step, he moves across and looks back to Lucien. "The race went the tortoise, not the hare, my friend."

Round Three - Troll - Location One

GM Only:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Lucien can hear the sound of the troll crashing through the woods, though not immediately behind him.

Guess the diversion is over, he thinks as he shakes himself dry.

Just waiting on Zane to finish Round Three. Of course, we wouldn't be waiting for him if I knew what I was doing!

Sorry for short post (posting from phone, not to wait for me) Zane will be marking trail in area 7 this round

Zane, blazing a trail ahead of the rest of the party, looks for an easier way across the chasm..

- The DC I post for this location will incorporate the -2 for Zane marking. Round Four coming up!

Biting her lip, Corvus reviews her route and endeavours to do better this time. Once more she moves with a natural grace as she looks to avoid the snakes.

Stealth 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

EDIT - rolls getting better, but not yet good enough

Round Four - Corvus, Desmond, Gyness (any order)- Angry Snakes (Location Six)

Gyness comes upon Corvus and Desmond; the latter holding up his momentum with an outraised arm. "A brood of snakes under the log."

The cleric smiles. "Reminds me of the annual interfaith dinner."
Hey: I don't get to use witty dialogue during a troll chase!

Desmond marked the trail
DC 13 Stealth check to quietly slip past the angered snakes.
DC 13 Fortitude check to shrug off any bites and continue on without delay.

Round Four - Lucien - Treacherous Path (Location Five)

Lucien can hear the others moving well ahead of him. Also, the troll farther behind. He eyes the logs again.

Trail marked by Gyness
DC8 Acrobatics check to balance on the slippery logs; or
DC13 Swim to make a quick swim across the brook.

Hmm...could Desmond come back and carry him across????

Round Four - Zane - Crack in the Earth (Location Seven)

Beyond the snakes, a clear path is suddenly rent by a deep, stony Crack in the Earth.

Marked by Zane
DC13 Acrobatics check to make a giant leap across; or
DC8 Survival to find a way around the crack

Zane, having identified a slightly easier way across, eyes the other side of the crack.

Both checks are -2: explaining how Super Zane made it easier to go around and leap across would just be silly..

Were is Lucien, did you guys drown him back there?

Desmond picks up another log and crushes more of the snakes making the trail easier to cross again.

Male Human Cleric 1

Gyness tip toes through the snakes now that Desmond has hit them again.

Fort Save DC 11?1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

As Gyness is trying to get through several snakes bite at his ankle but he kicks them away bravely... or like a fat man trying to get cake.

Back you little buggers no one wants to play with ya

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Undaunted (or because he can't do anything else), and out of desperation, Lucien tries again!

Acrobatics
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Swimming
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

This time, he manages to make it past the logs easily, the adrenalin pumping through his veins, only to be forestalled by the gigantic rushing waves of the tiny brook.

"i know we're running for our lives," he mutters, "But is that any reason to get my trousers wet?"

@Desmond - A Location can only be marked once (didn't occur to me that someone would do it twice) The -2 applies for the rest of the Chase. You can post your action again.

Every time I look at your icon, it makes me laugh.

The snakes, still in a confused rage from being smacked with a log, slither around and a few try to chomp on Gyness but fail to sink their fangs into his flesh. He moves past them and further on down the path.

Corvus feels a snake slithering up her foot and she shakes it off and drop kicks it deep into the woods. High stepping it, she joins Gyness on the path.

Lucien manages to walk across the logs without taking a second bath. He comes to a halt as he joins the others, looking doubtfully at the enraged snakes blocking the narrow path.

You moved on to the next Location. If you had passed both checks, you would have moved past the Angry Snakes as well.

Gyness' Guidance spell is about to expire, which I forgot to remind you of (only Gyness used it). Desmond and Zane, add it to your roll this round. Corvus, I've added it to your roll and you move on to Location 7. Lucien, it didn't help your failed roll..

ROUND FOUR SUMMARY (so far)
Gyness - On to Location 7
Corvus - On to Location 7
Lucien - Made it to Location 6
Desmond - Waiting for action at Location 6 (+1 to roll)
Zane - Waiting for action at Location 7 (+1 to roll)
Troll - Waiting for action behind you

Ah, ok makes sense it can only be marked once, so here goes

fortitude save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Desmond encourages Lucien to hurry along as he jumps up on the log kicking and stomping a few snakes along the way.

Liberty's Edge

Having marked the best path rather obviously, Zane hears the sounds of his friends closing and decides to move on.

Survival: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 1 = 11

He sidesteps the chasm with ease and proceeds to next location, all the while making sure that sticks he has used to mark the easiest trail around are easily visible.

GM Only:
1d20 ⇒ 10

Round Four - Troll
You can hear the troll tearing through the forest. He doesn't seem to be falling any further behind.

Round Five - Corvus, Gyness, Desmond - Crack in the Earth (Location Seven)

Beyond the snakes, a clear path is suddenly rent by a deep, stony Crack in the Earth.

Already Marked by Zane
DC13 Acrobatics check to make a giant leap across; or
DC8 Survival to find a way around the crack

The three of you hurry along the path, sure that Lucien will catch up: there's no more water! But you come to a stop at a crevice.

Usual options: One or both skill checks or spell.

Round Five - Lucien - Angry Snakes (Location Six)

Lucien, still dripping from his swim, hears his comrades further up the path. He also hears some hissing snakes, noticing them slithering around a large log in the middle of the way.

Desmond marked the trail
DC 13 Stealth check to quietly slip past the angered snakes.
DC 13 Fortitude check to shrug off any bites and continue on without delay.

Usual options: One or both skill checks or spell.

Round Five - Zane - Muddy Slog (Location Eight)

The ranger continues to blaze a path for his comrades. The (apparently misnamed) Low Road runs atop a nearby hill, across a Muddy Slog

DC10 Perception check to identify the dry spots within the slog;or
DC15 Strength check to power through the mud.

Usual options: One or both skill checks or spell.

Crack in the Earth.

Desmond seeing the path already marked here blazes ahead thinking the road must be close.

survival: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
acrobatics: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (13) - 3 = 10

ah too bad rolls were not in other order :)

Muddy Slog (Location Eight)

Still being ahead of the party, Zane does his best to find and clearly mark dry spots within the slog, so those following him have an easier time passing through it.

Round 5 action - Mark the trail (again), but please do not make me think about how Zane can help with strength checks to power through the mud (aside from maybe standing on the side and giving clear instructions to "passers-by" how to wade with their hands)

Corvus is relieved to have passed the snakes eventually and breathes an audible sigh.

Now facing the stony crack, which seems more of a chasm, she readies herself for a single leap before launching herself.

Acrobatics check 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

EDIT - humph...

Male Elf Bard 1 HP 9/9 | AC 16 | T 13 | FF 13 | Init +3

Lucien attempts to slip past the snakes, holding on to his loose parts in order not to make any noise.

Stealth
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Groan

and when that fails, tries to shrug off the snake bites!

Fortitude
1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17

Well, I'll be...

Zane, scouting ahead, looks back to the others, wondering if they will get past the chasm as easily as he did.

I'm not even gonna try to write up marking this Location.

The snakes, angered at having a log dropped on top of them, sense movement and swarm all over Lucien's feet and ankles. Immediately feeling numbed, he steps backwards.

Desmond, a lumbering load is not delayed by the crack in the earth and moves on towards Zane

Gyness, more nimble at the chase than the bard, follows Desmond forward.

Corvus, having seen the two men move on, rather surely takes a running start towards the chasm. She loses her footing on the way and nearly skids into it.

Troll

GM only:
1d20 ⇒ 2

Lucien wonders if the troll has gotten lost in the woods...

Gyness - On to Location Eight
Desmond - On to Location Eight
Zane - still at Location Eight (marked trail)
Corvus - still at Location Seven
Lucien - still at Location Six

Round Six - Zane, Desmond, Gyness - Muddy Slog (Location Eight)

The (apparently misnamed) Low Road runs atop a nearby hill, across a Muddy Slog

Trail Marked by Zane
DC8 Perception check to identify the dry spots within the slog;or
DC13 Strength check to power through the mud.

Usual options: One or both skill checks or spell.

Round Six - Corvus - Crack in the Earth (Location Seven)

Beyond the snakes, a clear path is suddenly rent by a deep, stony Crack in the Earth.

Already Marked by Zane
DC13 Acrobatics check to make a giant leap across; or
DC8 Survival to find a way around the crack

Corvus prepares to do a little better this time.

Usual options: One or both skill checks or spell.

Gyness quickly loiks for a way that his large bottom can scurry across.

. He doesn't believe he could get unstuck if he sinks into the muddy mess.

Round Six - Zane - Muddy Slog (Location Eight)

Satisfied with his work, Zane "leads the way" in slogging through the mud all the while identifying dry spots within the slog.

Perception check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Strength check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Not sure how many locations are left, if this would put me "over the finish" line, I want to intentionally "slow down" so I could mark more locations for other team members, if needed.

Desmond watches Zane forge ahead and tries to follow his steps.

perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15
Strenght: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Lucien passed his fortitude check - does that count as one success and move him from Location 6 to the next location?

Corvus prepares herself and then tries again to cross the chasm.

Acrobatics 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Oops - Yes, Lucien should roll for Location Seven as described for the others there. My bad.

Gyness, afraid of sinking into the mire, fails to immediately identify a safer path. you don't want to be Stapleton from Hound of the Baskervilles

Zane, apparently made for this type of chase, lightly moves through the mudy slo and climbs quickly up the steep hill on the other side.

Zane is at Location 10, which is the last one to complete.

Corvus again loses her footing and pulls up short.
That paizo dice roller is brutal

The fighter looks at the way ahead and, churning his legs, avoids getting stuck in the mud. He follows the path Zane selected and also ascended the hill.

Zane marking the trail was just enough to offset Desmond's weight penalty..

Lucien still to go (from Location 7 as he correctly pointed out). Then the troll.

Quote:
Zane marking the trail was just enough to offset Desmond's weight penalty..

Very True :)

[Lucien - Location 7]

Lucien attempts to jump over the large rend in the earth.

Acrobatics vs DC13
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Landing safely on the other side, he breathes a huge sigh of relief.

Round Six - Troll

GM Only:
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

You don't hear the Troll.

Round Seven - Gyness, Lucien - Muddy Slog (Location Eight)

The (apparently misnamed) Low Road runs atop a nearby hill, across a Muddy Slog.

Trail Marked by Zane
DC8 Perception check to identify the dry spots within the slog;or
DC13 Strength check to power through the mud.

Usual options: One or both skill checks or spell.

Round Seven - Corvus - Crack in the Earth (Location Seven)

Beyond the snakes, a clear path is suddenly rent by a deep, stony Crack in the Earth.

Already Marked by Zane
DC13 Acrobatics check to make a giant leap across; or
DC8 Survival to find a way around the crack

Corvus gives it a go for the third time.

Usual options: One or both skill checks or spell.

Round Seven - Zane, Desmond - Slippery Rocks - (Location Ten)

The Low Road is bordered by a wide shoulder of rain-wet, Slippery Rocks

DC 15 Acrobatics check to nibly scramble across the rocks; or
DC 15 Reflex save to avoid slipping while crossing the rocks.

Last Location. Pass one test and you reach the Low Road (but not yet the bridge). One check, spell or mark trail.

Desmond steps forward and points out what he feels is a safe path for Zane.

going to need some dice roller luck on this one :)
