Male Human A 1

Sorry, Casimir is not going to BARE anything with you at any moment...lol

Reminds me of classic airplane lines...there were lots of them.

Rumack: Can you fly this plane, and land it?

Ted Striker: Surely you can't be serious.

Rumack: I am serious... and don't call me Shirley.

Male Human A 1

Casimir takes a swing at the broom then steps back 5'.

What?!?!

MW Longsword atk 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 dam 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Male Human A 1

Newt, did you want to have a peek ahead? If not then don't worry I can lead the way.

Male Human A 1

Wonderful, this Suto fellow is allied wiht something called the voice below. There might be more at work here than even this. I guess we should push on.

Do I get a sense from my reading that this Suto might be a spellcaster or a more martial type?

Let's grab the cloaks, maybe they will hesitate and not immediately attack us...whatever is down here. I will hold onto this Journal.

Casimir inspects then slips on one of the cloaks.

Male Human A 1

We might be able to find out where he is keeping the folk of our town or what he is doing with them...if they are setting a trap it is already done...due to my error on the ladder. If we can get them out then come back for whomever is behind this, that might be best.

Cas continues to flip through the front and last sections of the book.

Male Human A 1

Watch the exits...looks like one of these books might belong to the mastermind of all of this. I want to find out what type of man we are dealing with.

Puts his sword on the table next to him.
Spend 1 6 minute interval. Cas will look at the first few pages and skip toward the back to see if he can find mention of the missing townsfolk then reading around that section in more detail.

Male Human A 1

Hopefully that was the last trap...lets look around this room and see if we can find out who our new foe is.

Casimir will slowly enter the room and take a look around, starting with the small table looking for any notes of a non-magical nature.
Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Male Human A 1

Casimir struggled to get to his feet and might have fallen back to the ground without the swift hands of Bec and Bowen to stabilize him.

Thank you...I am better though still a little shaky. Misha, your magical abilities have come in handy again...namely saving my life. Sorry I caused more of an issue than I helped by falling down.

He drew out his sword and donned his shield, Maybe we will finally find out who or what is truly behind all of this.

Male Human A 1

I imagine you can probably see me and Newt since the light stone I was holding has probably fallen out of my unconscious grasp.

GM:

Fort Stabilize roll 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 2 - 4 = 6 vs. DC 14 failed at -5 at the end of the round.

Male Human A 1

I am around. Just getting back into it from the holidays.

Billy,

I was on the site and noticed when I click on the two image links on the front page for the nice list and Santa letter that bings up the larger image that they come up left adjusted but cut off so you can't really view all of them.
I am on IE9. Just thought I would let you know.

Male Human A 1

No problem, Lord Casimir will be here when you get back, good luck with your Christmas!

Male Human A 1

I have no choice Mischa...my course is set. I will save these people or die trying. I would feel better with the rest of you at my side though. he smiles trying to lighten the situation just a little.

We go down... Casimir straps his shield to his back, We can't risk letting Newt go down that far alone, if you will all see this through lets go.

My turn Newt. If someone could hold drop a light when I get half way down?, Casimir starts down the ladder knowing that it's just better at this point to get us all down as quickly as possibly rather than trying stealth.

Male Human A 1

Casimir nods to Newt to scout ahead.

Male Human A 1

If someone was working with the Ogre...they will pay for it! Through the secret door then. If someone would be so kind, I will move through.

Casimir readies his sword and shield.

Male Human A 1

Just to confirm, we haven't seen any other exits out of this room other than this secret door?

Before we go through this secret door, should we finish looking for the poor townsfolk that were taken around here? We didn't finish looking where we saw the wolf.
Making sure they are safe is our priority.

I will be more precise the next time, Casimir was going to pull back the curtain.

Male Human A 1

Lets see what is behind the curtain.

Male Human A 1

Stand back.
Casimir uses his sword to flip open the lid of the chest...

Bowen Cantell wrote:

As they finish up the ogre, Bowen rests his axe against the wall, ripping a piece of cloth from the slain one, and using it to clean the weapon from the blood and gore - "Good thing no one thinks the axe had any effect on finishing up the beast" - he grumbles after he is satisfied with the cleaning task, picking up the pace after the others into the large chamber.

He does stop by the wolf, eyeing it with some suspicion, then relaxes some after he confirms it is indeed dead - suddenly remembering something he doubles back again to the ogre corpse, and hacks its head off - "Guess we'll need some proof to make sure people believe us" - he shrugs, throwing the head into a sack, and then getting back to the others.

It's a good idea for back up if they don't believe our word on the matter. Once we finish making sure there are no other threats we can return these goods to their owners.

In the larger cave he walks over to Newt and whispers, Brave one, please keep in mind their could be other threats in this place...we should still keep our wits, and our lives about us.

Male Human A 1

Casimir stands there feeling rather useless...and a little disappointed he was not able to prove his worth to the group and the town.

Mischa, if not for your powerful magic we would have had to fight this monster...and possibly died fighting. In a way we owe you our lives. It will not be forgotten.
Lead the way Newt.

Male Human A 1

Bec should strike the killing blow (first blow), Casimir is there to make sure it stays down. Bowell should strike as well.

Male Human A 1

Bec, Bowell, and I will all strike it when we end this beast. Bec we will count to three and hit it as hard as you can. The rest of you be ready in case we don't kill it.

Casimir will strike right after Bec/Bowell. Casimir puts away his shield and grasps his blade in both hands and nods to Bec and Bowell.

Some of you may not want to see this...one...two...three!

1d20 ⇒ 9 damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 didn't roll a 1.
If it is a coup double damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Male Human A 1

The running conversation had been if someone else had caltrops that Casimir would have "borrowed" them and tried to use them. Oh well.

Casimir waits a moment for the others to fire then gulps and puts his shield up before moving forward yelling at the Ogre, You worthless sack of fishguts, your cowardly hide is going to look good on my wall!

Go full defense and move in front of Bec H,11.

Current AC is 23 due to total defense.

Male Human A 1

Newt, if you have anything else that can hinder the Ogres movement, I would use that first...then light it up with that fire you have!

Casimir then moves into position and tries to remain as quiet as he can...

Stealth 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (17) - 4 = 13

Male Human A 1

After he drags the wolf to L,7 Casimir moves to L,10 with his back against the cave wall.

If possible he would ready an action to throw the caltrops into the Ogres square when he sees it. He has his sword drawn and in his shield hand so he can switch it to his normal hand after he throws.

Hide amongst the boxes until the Ogre shows his face and I throw the Caltrops.

Male Human A 1

Casimir is going to move a crate to hide behind close to the entrance, but off to the side.

How about I throw the caltrops at the ogres feet when he gets to the entrance to this room. Hopefully it will slow him down and you all fire at him. I will then try to keep him occupied while the rest of you continue to fire at him and maybe Bec can move up to help me...the rest of you can fire from cover as Misha says.

Cas does his best to sound brave and not let the fear that he feels be too evident.

Male Human A 1

We should set a trap with the caltrops at the supply room entrance. Stealth is over but we can still use his lack of knowledge about us to our advantage to get the jump on him. With the wolf dead he will come looking for something that did this.

Suggestion is that we have someone ready to toss them at the Ogre's feet when he appears at the entrance to the cave and we fire our bows from behind the boxes. Make him come to us. If needed I will do it since I am the best armored.

Male Human A 1

Bec, Newt...move away from the wolf if you can so we can get a clean shot! the worry on Casimir's face is clear as he realizes Bec is in harms way and the least armored of the group...

Casimir will delay until after Bec and then act.

Male Human A 1

Casimir took a clean shot at the wolf then noded at Bec to move forward and help Newt. Unfortunately the hit skipped off the wolf's back doing little damage.
He then drew his shield ready to change weapons at a moments notice.

MW Longbow atk 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 dam 1d8 ⇒ 1

This is what you trained for Cas...don't let the others see your fear.

Male Human A 1

Who has the caltrops BTW?

Male Human A 1

The jig is up, retreat back to us and bring the beast back through the trap. We can make our stand in the supply room.

Delay.

Male Human A 1

Hmmmm, maybe a guard dog...for prisoners? Can any of you do something...maybe convince it we are its friends? Anything in those supplies we can use...

I'll do it... Clean one up for me. Newt's more useful unencumbered.

The bugs are small and you are medium, I don't think the disguise would have a chance of working with you...but thanks for volunteering. The point Casimir it trying to make is that the Ogre has a good chance of spotting the light from Newt before Newt spots the Ogre. If he appears as the bug the Ogre may not be as alarmed as if Newt appears...anyways.

Yes east..unless any of you see tracks heading in one of the directions?

As soon as Newt moves down that passage Casimir will slowly move up to th intersection to cover him with his bow.

Male Human A 1

Then it makes even more sense to disguise Newt as a bug...at least we may have a chance to not lose surprise. I know it sounds silly but it might work...what would it hurt to try?

He doesn't press the issue anymore and waits for the other to accept or dismiss his idea.

Male Human A 1

That was the point I was trying to make...if Newt wanders into the room with light he can't really sneak up on the Orge and the element of surprise is lost.
If the Ogre just thinks it is one of the bugs he may not be as alarmed...I am guessing they are seen in these caves from time to time if we have encountered them.
he whispers and moves up just behin the crates bow drawn. He strains to listen for any noise beyond them into the darkness.

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Male Human A 1

Do we know that Ogres can see in the dark? I read most of the posts from start but didn't catch all of the details.

Male Human A 1

Yes, a good idea, if we could draw the Ogre to an ambush. He sees the bug scurry in and out. Decides to squash it and you lead him into the Caltrops and our bows. Maybe we can hurt him badly before he can even get to us?

Male Human A 1

Casimir pulls them back into the hallway then cautions them, Losing the element of surprise...could be lethal for all of us. Even as slovenly as this beast is he could kill most if not all of us if we don't hold onto our one advantage.

He then goes on the offensive, selling his idea, Here is what I am proposing...it may sound crazy but it would possibly not alert the Ogre to our presense. Newt, you may not like this but it can work...just here me out.
What if we were to dress Newt up as one of the bugs. He is not much larger than them. What if we cut the shells in half and tie each side to him. If he wonders into the Ogre he could simply scurry back without alarming him to our presense. I know it sounds really...bad but none of us can pull it off except you and it will give you a chance to see the ogre and not give us away.
Think about it for a minute...if you won't agree to it I understand though.

Male Human A 1

Go ahead and move Newt down the east passageway, we will follow 20-30' feet behind him with bows drawn.

Mischa The Witch of the Woods wrote:

Good idea. Just never thought to be scared of pizza toppings!

True, though if Casimir spots Pepperoni he will flee!

Male Human A 1

You have nature skills you could look in the room and see if you can tell if there is anything obviously dangerous in there.
The rest of us fear what we don't know...a room not used, filled with mushrooms...nothing good can come from that :]

Male Human A 1

I was thinking that if no one comes in here that it is unlikely to be where the Ogre is and not to bother with it until after we have brought the evil beast to justice.
But I will defer to the group's judgement of course if we think it is worth searching.

Casimir takes out a cloth and wipes the sweat dripping from his brow. He has never been in his armor this long before...it feels like twice as heavy as when he started...

Male Human A 1

Newt hold back... Casimir whispers, Bowen, does it appear as if there are any tracks going into the room? If it doesn't seem to be used we should try the other corridor. I don't get a good feeling from that room.

Male Human A 1

Please move Casimir up to H14 and draws out his bow, he motions Bec to move up to H13.

Just in case! he whispers an arrow loosely notched in his bow.

Male Human A 1

Lets try that way then, its agreed. You are a brave man Newt, scouting for us like this. Points north.
He squeezes his shoulder.
Just be careful.

Male Human A 1

Maybe the Ogre is deeper within the hillside...do we know which way see to go deeper in?

Male Human A 1
Mischa The Witch of the Woods wrote:
Don't know what you mean by glowing sticky things. I think we just have the glands from the beetles.

Yep Casimir is just referring to the glands. He doesn't even know what a "gland" is other than glowing sticky things :]

Male Human A 1

Casimir motions them together...Here is what I am thinking. I am sure the ogre finds these...things wondering around all over the place. If he is up and around he might not get alarmed if he sees this type of light coming into wherever he sleeps. I think we should use these as lights instead of our own light, even though its not as bright. What do you all think?
As far as the glowing sticky things, we could place one in the bullseye lantern and store the rest?

Male Human A 1

I think it may be dead after my sword stroke assuming no one kills it before me.
