After she's undressed Kiley, should she happen to see her after undressing and before getting into the tub, notices the elf's extensive tattooing. Aside from those on her face, hands, and forearms, which are readily apparent, tattoos run all the way up her arms to her shoulders, and up her legs to the top of her thighs. ![]()

There is not much to gain by blackmail." "Also, it is difficult for secrets to exist where everyone knows everyone else, at least to some extent. I wouldn't say there are no secrets where I come from of course, but where one is kept there is a toll to be paid in anxiety and guilt by it's keeper that might be greater than elsewhere." But, before she can articulate why she finds the idea so dangerous, even scary, she has to roll it around in her head a little. When she thinks she has a coherent reply, she states it mostly as a question. "But how could the two people ever continue to live around, or even see each other? Surely this would cause a feud between them? But by its own nature, the blackmail could never be spoken of by them. It would be like a poison then, without a way to extract it. Others around them would surely notice something amiss between them, and the uneasy feelings would spread through the whole community with time." "If the two people have a feud because of what one of them has done to cause the other harm, why would this not be announced by the harmed party to all. Then the harm can be rectified if it should be, and the thoughts and feelings of the two parties can be repaired. That is one of the many reasons why the community exists, to correct such breaches among individuals who would otherwise have to pursue the dispute for the rest of their lives, or until it results in the deaths of one or both of them." "But, perhaps blackmail is not about wrongs done to one by the other? It is about gaining wealth instead? Your examples imply no harm being done to the one who blackmails, only desire to take from their victim. ![]() All the talk of deception and who to trust makes Lisyil very anxious. She's never had to consider any of these things before. It's not that Lisyil has never lied or been lied to, she's a bit familiar with minor deceptions. But something like this, which might mean turning on or selling out one's entire community, is a massive thing in her mind. Such a deed is very different than gossip about who's secretly boinking who, or who might have a grudge or feud against another that leads to some underhanded trickery. ![]() Lisyil looks down at the goblin for awhile, her heard slightly cocked to the side as she stares. Back home the goblin would be dead already, no questions asked. It couldn't be left to just run free; that would only invite future trouble. It couldn't be taken back to the settlement because then it would know were the settlement was, which means it could never leave. Nobody would want a goblin around to guard and feed for only the gods know how long, so that goes back to killing it. So why carry it off somewhere to kill it eventually when one could go to less time and trouble by doing it on the spot? After a minute or two, an idea comes to Lisyil. "If we could find a pole or big stick, we could run it through the bindings. Ari and I could each take one end and carry it between us. It would be lighter and less clumsy to carry it, and quicker to drop if we need to for some reason." ![]()

![]() Lisyil listens to the various stories with unwavering attention. Each one is full of drama and excitement, which impresses her greatly. They also intimidate her a little, and leave her unwilling to tell one of her own. She has never been involved in anything comparable to them. There are many things in her own past which have been important, but they fall into different buckets of reasons not to share. The early things, like finding her mirror, first boyfriend, or first pixie seen, fall into the group cover by a loose taboo on divulging information about elven life inside The Wealdath. More recent things like first city seen, first night sleeping under a blanket of stars high above, first dwarf seen, or first non-elven friend, mattered to her personally but didn't make for good storytelling. ![]()

![]() Lisyil isn't too concerned about what she hears in during the meal with Brother Brightmoon. The good food and drink is distracting, she doesn't fear forests, and the job seems straitforward. She asks no questions because of these things, and because fundamentally Lisyil is an optimist who expects things to work out fine. During the walk out of town she stays close by Ari and still doesn't say much. Lisyil quiet doesn't come across as rude or unsocial, but rather as shyness. It is true that the number of new people is a little overwhelming to her, she tends to do better at comnversation in one-on-one situations than multi-person free for alls. There are questions she's eager to ask, but they are of a type that she thinks might be impolite if not asked in just the right way, and she isn't sure she knows that way. For example, she is quite curious about Shaggar, the big dog(?) man. He seems nice too. But she can't quite figure out how to ask 'what are you exactly?'. The same is true of Marith. Without asking directly, Lisyil can only try speculation. In many ways She looks like an elf, but her coloration is all wrong. Besides, there are quite a few fey races who look superficially elven as well. It could also be that Marith is also a half-elf. Lisyil had been told by her father that humans have skin and hair colors that vary more than those of elves. If she recalls what he said correctly, there are humans in southern lands who have very dark skin. During her travels Lisyil had seen a handful of humans who matched that kind of description. Ultimately Lisyil decides Marith is probably a half-elf from somewhere in the far south. She would find a way to bring the subject up with Marith sometime in the near future. The walk to where they will be meeting the caravan is sufficiently short to prevent her from being called upon to sing or tell a story, so with the sight of it's banners her terror subsides. ![]()

![]() Lisyil had split from Ari because she wanted to travel north to see the great iceof Frozenfar that lay beyond The Spine of the World that she had heard about. Lisyil had seen snow of course, but very little of it compared to what the stories of the north promised. Unfortunately Lisyil didn't make it to Frozenfar. While Lisyil understood weather, her knowledge of climate was rather lacking since it was limited to the much gentler seasons of her home in the Wealdath. Once she was north of Waterdeep, the clues started to drop. The season was turning toward winter rather than summer and talk of preparations for the coming cold among the people she encountered were shockingly extensive. As she came to realize her timing for a trip so far north was phenomenally bad, she changed her mind. There would be no harm in waiting half a year or more to see Frozenfar. Lisyil turned back south to Waterdeep. Her new plan was to spend some time there instead. But, the city's size and the dense throngs of its population were a overwhelming to her. Lisyil left after only a couple of confusing and anxiety-laden days. This left Lisyil with a lot of time on her hands. She had made plans to reunite with Ari in Baldur's Gate, but she was on her way there much earlier than she has anticipated, and therefore unsure if she would be able to find Ari. It did take some time wandering about, visiting plenty of taverns, and sitting outside to soak up some of what remained of the warm weather with cups of watered wine before she did bump into her friend. Happily Ari turned out to have a job in mind for them right away. It involved working for the Selûnites, which seemed just fine to Lisyil. After all her own attempts at planning this or that weren't giving good results. Best she let someone set the agenda for a while. ![]()

![]() Ugh, sorry it's taken me so long to get this done, it's been a very busy several days. It also turned out to be kinda hard. I prefer to not box myself in too much before gameplay starts and I get a feel for the other characters. Sometimes things done early have to be quietly forgotten or shunted aside because they turn out to be a mismatch for the group. It cn also make it hard to add or develop things going forward because of too much to keep track of. Besides, Lisyil isn't meant to be a weighty or tragic character. She doesn't have much baggage and sshe's not particularly driven or troubled. She has her oddities, dislikes, and preferences, but she's mostly interested seeing new things and having some fun. Rather than adding much to what I wrote in her background and the 20 questions, I've put what was already there here in one place for convenience. Short Term Goals: 1. Explore. This is very much the main purpose of Lisyil's current travels. She wants to see more of the world and experience new things. Given her rather restricted range of past experiences, some of these things can be surprising basic, like being in a large crowd, seeing a city, or interacting heavily with non-elves. She is curious about things so, while sometimes all the new can be a bit overwhelming, Lisyil is eager to learn whatever she can about what's outside of her home forest. 2. Make some friends and meet people. Pretty straightforward. While her social and conversation skills may skew a bit toward the odd given her isolated background, Lisyil likes getting to know new people. 3. Make her own decisions: While it wouldn't really be fair to describe her upbringing as oppressive, a small and uniform community doesn't leave much room for individual decisions. Long Term Goals: 1. Grow as an arcane practitioner. Lisyil sees her arcane abilities as the most unique thing about herself. She wants to take it as far as she can. 2. Eventually find a place where she feels comfortable and can settle. Lisyil wouldn't state this explicitly as a goal, but if she found a place where she felt comfortable as a member of a community, it would be attractive to her. She might eventually put down roots there. 3. Start a family. Lisyil isn't particularly cosmopolitan. It's the circle of life she knows. Fears: 1. Lisyil is afraid of the possibility of her mirror deceiving her or having some hidden agenda. She knows relatively little about it despite the length of time it has been in her possession. She sometimes wonders if is withholding information, possibly about its origin or purpose, because it doesn't want her to know. 2. While it isn't something she deeply fears, rejection, especially when she's trying to be friendly, can wound her badly. 3. Lack of light. This is less a fear than a reaction to something that is mildly physically debilitating to Lisyil. She dislikes very low light or darkness because she feels less well in it. ![]()
