Sorry to see this game end so soon.

Good luck with your RL situation, GM MK.

Thanks to you and the other players. I was enjoying it.

The GM's in Arizona, I believe. But I agree, hope the GM is okay.

@Starfall: Lera did ask the nobleman Aldern a similar question about the goblin raid and rolled pretty well on her diplomacy but she got no answer/reply. Hopefully your dip (gather info) reaps something. We, however, might not be able to gather anything in regard to it. GM's call.

F Human Bard (Archaeologist) 1/ Init: +6 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 14 T:12 FF:12 | CMB: 0 CMD: 12 | Fort: +2 Ref: +4 Will: +3 | Perception +5

Good luck sorting out the real life stuff, GM MK.

Lera can be ready to move forward on the GM's word. I'm currently fine with the RP opportunity and talking with the nobleman. Just waiting to see if something (or anything) is revealed. At least she's building toward a network of friendly npc allies. ;)

Aldern smiled to her and chuckled, "I am but a simple noble of Varisia. As for what I do, well. I'm trying to find that. I hope one day it will come to me."

Lera tilted her head, quizzically, upon Aldern's response, although she supposed, it wasn't a surprising revelation from one of noble birth. Nobles had time and coin to discover themselves at their leisure. She just had expected more of Aldern, this complete stranger, and she realised that was an unfair expectation. Lera stayed her judgement -- holding off until she knew more of this man and his goals and aspirations.

She smiled at him, hoping her momentary pause had not been mistaken for rudeness.

Renewed Diplomacy with Aldern: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

"With nobility comes certain responsibility to your House and people, I would presume. I believe that in time you will discover your deeper purpose, sir."

Lera's eyes strayed briefly to the gaming table and to Finn, in particular. He had a frown on his face and she wondered at the cause.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Perhaps Finn was losing coin and was none too happy? She could not tell/sense for certain from her current vantage point. Least Allie was no longer seated in his lap.

Lera inwardly shook the other thoughts to the back of her mind and returned her whole attention to Aldern. None too sure what to ask of the nobleman seated across from her, she pressed on, making small talk to the best of her ability.

"Is your family here in Sandpoint?"

@Starfall: Not offended. Just letting you know for future reference is all. It would be strange to keep reading she has dark skin when she doesn't. ;)

There is a description of Lera on her profile page, if that helps.

Aldern nodded and smiled, "As do I, the Rusty Dragon is a exciting place, and I will make it up to you all, I will not take no for an answer. All I ask is a few days. Dear me, they are playing an odd game, I don't much care for gambling, you lose too much than you gain." he shook his head and focused back to Lera,"Would you be willing to tell me more about yourself?"

"Take as many days as you require. Yet truly, there is no debt to repay."

Lera's gaze momentarily travelled to the gaming table; this time it was Ruby's voice which caught her attention. At Aldern's remarks on the gambling, Lera merely nodded in acknowledgement and then was surprised when he asked to know more about her.

"May I sit?" her hand gesturing to the empty chair opposite him, unwilling to just sit down without invitation. Upon Aldern's consent, Lera moved with a certain easy grace and sat down.

"I am uncertain of what you would like to hear, so I will begin by telling you that I am an archaeologist and historian. I am Varisian by birth, an only child, and have travelled extensively since infancy. Curiosity and sense of duty brought me to Sandpoint." The rowdy laughter and shouts assailed her ears as she paused, allowing Aldern a moment to process what she had shared.

"I do not mean to be so forward, or pry, but what is it that you do in town, sir?"

@Lera: "Aldern Foxglove" he smiled a bit to her, "I thank you for your kind and beautiful words, Lady Lera. As much as I wish it too, life is life, Old Red is in a better place now from all these bastardly goblins, and he gave his life for mine... a true friend" his raised his glass and took a sip, "Nonetheless, I thank you for my life." He smiled a bit brighter to her, once the gloom was out of his face, he was a very handsome fellow.

Lera shut out the sounds of the game being played a few tables over to concentrate on the nobleman. She did not take a seat at his table for that would have been too forward. So, she stood during their exchange.

She took in Aldern's face and voice -- handsome and pleasant. His cordial manner set her at ease and she returned his warm smile. She was earnest again when she spoke, "Do the goblins venture into town often? Perhaps the Festival drew the raid. They seemed to appear so suddenly." Lera realised she had been vocalising numerous thoughts at once and slowed down her thoughts and words. "Should you require further assistance, Aldern, seek out my companions and I. We have rooms here at the Rusty Dragon. We will do what we can, for you and the other townsfolk."

@Starfall: Lera does not have dark skin. It's olive-toned (like some Eastern Europeans in RL). Unless olive/tanned looks "dark" to Elves. Just for your future reference.

F Human Bard (Archaeologist) 1/ Init: +6 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 14 T:12 FF:12 | CMB: 0 CMD: 12 | Fort: +2 Ref: +4 Will: +3 | Perception +5

Familiar voices over the general din of the hall caught her ear and Lera turned to find the speakers in the crowd. She saw Allie seated on Finn's lap, ready for a game of chance. Many silent thoughts flitted through her mind as she watched them intently for a few seconds. They must view me as a dull bluestocking. I lack their impulsive gaiety. I think and study too deeply. How do I fit in? A strange light passed across her golden-brown eyes as a sense of loneliness squeezed at her heart, even surrounded by a crowd. She internally shook off her pensive mood and turned her attention back to the seated nobleman, and with an apologetic smile she waited for him to speak.

Thanks for the reply, Finn. I will play that out a little later after Starfall answers/joins in.

F Human Bard (Archaeologist) 1/ Init: +6 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 14 T:12 FF:12 | CMB: 0 CMD: 12 | Fort: +2 Ref: +4 Will: +3 | Perception +5

This will happen sometime after the introductions with Starfall happen ... while the nobleman is still in the tavern.

Lera recognised the nobleman, even though their introduction had been swift and plagued by the after-effects of the goblin attack. She had raised her mug of wine in kind, wondering at the burdens the man carried inside his heart at this time.

Lera gently gained Finn's attention and discreetly gestured toward the lone nobleman in the corner of the tavern and whispered his identity. "I think I shall go over and extend my sympathies. I will not be long."

Making her way past the boisterous merrymakers, Lera came to stand close to the man's table and not venture any closer without permission.

In a respectful tone and manner, "I do not mean to disrupt your solitude, thinking it was such a contradiction being they were in a loud tavern, but I wanted to say again how sorry I am for the loss of your friend. I wish we had come upon you earlier and perhaps saved you from this sorrow. May I know your name, sir? My name is Lera."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

F Human Bard (Archaeologist) 1/ Init: +6 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 14 T:12 FF:12 | CMB: 0 CMD: 12 | Fort: +2 Ref: +4 Will: +3 | Perception +5

Lera watched as the tall Elven male was seated at their table -- hearing a passing story of his own bravery against the goblins in town.

She politely inclined her head at the Elf, smiled, before speaking to him. "Welcome, sir. It has been a day of both mourning and celebration. I am Lera Satjian. May I ask your name?"

GM MK:
Quote:
Lera could see the man in a corner, with the glance of recognition, he smiled lightly and raised a wine glass to her before looking back down, a lot going through his mind.

The man in the corner, shall I play that out? If I recognise him, how do I? Did I meet him earlier in the inn -- when Lera first arrived?

F Human Bard (Archaeologist) 1/ Init: +6 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 14 T:12 FF:12 | CMB: 0 CMD: 12 | Fort: +2 Ref: +4 Will: +3 | Perception +5

Lera sat, jostled by enthusiastic townsfolk around their table; the sound of their cheers and questions moving about her like a cresting wave.

She was not accustomed to such crowds or attention. Lera politely smiled and inclined her head at the words of gratitude given to her and the others sitting around the table.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Lera's eyes attempted to scan the interior of the bustling Rusty Dragon. Unfortunately the noise and bodies proved a strong distraction and Lera could not notice anything in particular.

So, instead she maintained a cordial countenance and answered questions simply and accepted praise with humility. She wondered how the nobleman was doing -- the one who held his dead friend in his arms. Such a sad sight it was.

Diplomacy with townsfolk in the inn: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

Even as the drink flowed, Lera simply sipped her spiced wine. She was not a habitual drinker and did not want to become intoxicated. She would lift her mug at any toast given, so she would not offend the speaker.

Fort save against becoming tipsy or drunk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

The goblin raid was still moving around in her mind -- Why had they come now? Aye, the Festival was in full swing. But for what reason? Having no definitive answers did not sit well with Lera.

F Human Bard (Archaeologist) 1/ Init: +6 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 14 T:12 FF:12 | CMB: 0 CMD: 12 | Fort: +2 Ref: +4 Will: +3 | Perception +5

If Finn draws close enough to Lera as they walk back to the Rusty Dragon, she will discreetly attempt to gain his attention... But if he doesn't, then please ignore the spoiler, Finn.

Discreetly to Finn:
"May I have a private word with you, later? Something is weighing on my mind and I require your counsel."

Ignoring Allie's flirtation and double meanings, Lera falls into step with Ruby and heads for the Rusty Dragon.

"Thank you for backing me up with the bow and for the inspired singing, Ruby."

"As I said to Finn just moments ago, I will hold onto the potion as group property. It is a healing resource and I have some healing ability -- do you forget I healed you earlier with my magic? I will not run. You have my word on it."

Lera's golden eyes are fixed on Emilio, not in a confrontational manner, but in an open fashion to demonstrate she means what she is saying.

F Human Bard (Archaeologist) 1/ Init: +6 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 14 T:12 FF:12 | CMB: 0 CMD: 12 | Fort: +2 Ref: +4 Will: +3 | Perception +5

"No, I will hold onto it. I found it. If you go down first, in battle, I shall pour it down your throat."

There is no ire in Lera's voice, just a matter-of-fact, straightforward manner/tone.

The way you worded that IC, especially since Lera has already put the potion in her pouch ... yep, that isn't going to work, Emilio. If you want the potion, a different approach should be taken with the Archaeologist.

F Human Bard (Archaeologist) 1/ Init: +6 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 14 T:12 FF:12 | CMB: 0 CMD: 12 | Fort: +2 Ref: +4 Will: +3 | Perception +5

No worries. I thought I'd mention it. :)

"With your goddess' vigilant eye and divine aid, I am certain you will rise to the challenge of healing. I, for one, am in favour of staying alive." A small smile played around her lips as she looked at Finn.

"Such potions will come in useful ... It never hurts to have additional healing resources."

I suppose we can start a group kitty ... and add to it when we find/discover new things.

"We should keep the healing potion for the group's use -- so whomever requires greater healing, will receive the potion. I think that is fair. But if you will take on the group's healing, and you are injured and require the potion, I shall administer it." Lera placed the potion inside the pouch around her waist.

Lera walked the area and swiftly searched for the arrows she had used against the goblins.

She found three of her four arrows intact and was content in it. She placed them back into their quiver. Lera glanced at her Halfling friend sitting on the ground. "Ruby, are you alright?"

Leaving the goblin leader to Emilio's capable hands, Lera moved 15 feet (move action). With now a clear path to the yellow goblin, Lera called upon Favour's Fortune to guide her actions (Archaeologist's Luck, swift action) and released an arrow at the yellow goblin.

Buoyed on by Ruby's stirring song, Lera nocked a new arrow, carefully aimed and fired at the goblin leader holding the shortbow (in grey box), her path clear of any of her companions/allies. May my aim be true!

I'm good with making discussion posts saying if I'm going to be away for any extended period of time. It helps the GM and other players know what's up and how to compensate during the time.

F Human Bard (Archaeologist) 1/ Init: +6 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 14 T:12 FF:12 | CMB: 0 CMD: 12 | Fort: +2 Ref: +4 Will: +3 | Perception +5

As a player, I have no issue with how you want to play your character. Out of game we know a little more about Allie's motivations etc ... and it fits in with the character concept. (If Allie opens up to the group IC, then maybe reactions may change. But that's up to you and I am by no means trying to force your hand on this.)

But know if Lera finds issue with Allie in character, it's part of the story/personality dynamic only and is not a reflection of my views as a player. Just so you know. :)

F Human Bard (Archaeologist) 1/ Init: +6 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 14 T:12 FF:12 | CMB: 0 CMD: 12 | Fort: +2 Ref: +4 Will: +3 | Perception +5

@GM: Personally, I don't have a problem with waiting for someone to post their combat action during the course of a day. I think the pace slows down and becomes problematic if the group is waiting for two days or more ...

@Allie: In game, Lera will probably be someone who may confront you (if she's noticed the stealing) because she isn't self-serving etc. And if a hedonist wastes items based on their purely selfish whim, then Lera would certainly say something -- because those items could have been put to better use - rather than being squandered needlessly. I do see our girls butting heads more so than the males who seem to enjoy Allie's flirtatious ways and may cut her more slack because of it ... For Lera it isn't one player being ahead monetarily ... but using funds, items etc more economically, efficiently/effectively for the betterment of all.

btw, Lera did ask Allie what she had discovered on the goblin singer's body before you did the sleight of hand ...

F Human Bard (Archaeologist) 1/ Init: +6 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 14 T:12 FF:12 | CMB: 0 CMD: 12 | Fort: +2 Ref: +4 Will: +3 | Perception +5

And regarding Finn, he seems to generally post later in the day ...

@GM: Finn did say he had all the maps. I wonder, if he's amiable, he can post the new combat map when he's on the board ...

And glad your signal seems to be better at work! Fingers crossed, it continues.

Upon the shouts and noticing the menacing goblin leader atop the dog beast and his 5 goblin henchmen to the north, Lera pulled the shortbow from her back and notched an arrow. She then proceeded swiftly forward 30 feet, trying to stay close to her companions and hoping to spy a clear path and moment to attack. "Ruby, keep close as you can, so we may protect you."

As Allie jumped down from the stage and rushed over to the dead, female goblin leader, Lera scanned her eyes across the surrounds, hoping to see the fate of the other goblins at the hands of the townsfolk, guard and militia. She began winding her whip (careful of the barbs at the tip) so she could stow it on her belt.

Hearing Ruby's enthusiastic cheer upon the backs of the retreating goblins, Lera nodded, "Well done on the singing, Ruby." Lera quietly acknowledged the others near her on their efforts against the goblin raiders. "It's very good that you promptly took out their leader, Emilio."

Turning her eyes to the occupied Allie, she enquired, "Did you find anything of note on the leader?"

GM, are there any other goblins still attacking the townsfolk or local guards/militia?

Sad to hear that we're losing someone so soon. I think the group was just starting to get a feel for each other's characters.

I do miss the back and forth posting we had going at the start (it was fun), but I understand work commitments and having phone issues that you are working to get fixed. So it isn't a big problem for me.

We will try and stop them from killing you!

May the dice bot curse those goblins ... ;p

Done, Emilio. Just let me know if you're in the right place now.

@TruStrike: I believe that you have another +1 to your attack roll (+1 for Ruby's Inspire and +1 for Finn's Bless).
