Lara babbles incoherently.

Lara is confused, so I assume GM Strikes Back will take my action for me whenever he can get around to it.

Having succeeded at disabling the vents on the left, Lara moves to disable the ones on the right.

Double-move.

"Can't say I do," Lara answers Derym. Without any other recourse, she unshoulders her bow. Instead of shooting something, though, she moves to the vents to see if there is a way to disable them.

Perception +19 or Disable Device +24: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Lara looks around at her comrades, then looks to the Analytical Engine. "I think we're going to have to break it."

Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 3

Lara furrows her brows at the automaton. “Wait…What colonists did we kill in the other room?”

Or did he mean the mutants? She was pretty sure that those didn’t count. Not to her, anyway. They did try to kill her, after all.

“Anyway, yes, we are. No, we won’t unless they try to hurt us. And how do we get authorization to open this locked door?”

Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29

Lara looks the holding cells over for a way to safely free the prisoners. As she does so, she catches one of the captives’ gestures and quickly ascertains what she’s saying.

“’Big fish’ to the east, which probably means the aboleth.”

Lara nods. "Probably. I've got some pitons in my pack I can use to wedge them shut with," she says.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (2) + 20 = 22

Lara continues trading blows with the creature nearest her. She missed her shortbow at times like this, but all of this water made it impractical at best.

The (many) Laras advance toward the skirmish and take a swing (or seven) with her Azlanti longsword.

Out of an abundance of caution, Lara burbles out another spell. As she completes the incantation, there are suddenly 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 additional copies of her.

Just to confirm, we are underwater, right?

Lara burbles out the words to a haste spell, and everyone suddenly feels much faster.

Lara unsheathes her sword—her bow being rather useless underwater—and advances down the stairs. She would much rather be in the rear, but she was still a better scout than anyone else in the group, so she made sure to keep an eye out for traps, her way finder lit up and held aloft like a torch.

Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27 Add another +4 for traps.

Following after the party back into the water, Lara inspects the now-crackling altar. “Well, Aoinse, what do we do now?” she asks their construct guide.

Lara remains quiet, following along with the conversation in Azlanti but contributing nothing to it.

Lara hangs back a few steps from the construct. Good that at least one of the constructs in this place isn't immediately hostile.

Lara looks to Kragg. "Do you have any more water-breathing magic? We may want to take another look in the flooded area."

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

That puts Lara at full health (47/47) again.

Lara cautiously enters the room now that the fight is over, bow held at the low ready and an arrow nocked to the string. After a few moments, once it seems obvious that the automatons are no longer a threat, she shoulders her bow and inspects them.

If Knowledge (engineering) is most appropriate, then she is at a +5; if Knowledge (arcana), then +9; if Perception, +15; if Disable Device, +20.

The worst of her wounds healed, Lara unshoulders her bow and starts lobbing arrows.

Lara takes the opportunity while she's hidden behind cover to cast another spell. As she completes the incantation, more of her burn wounds fade away and mend.

Lara curses as she takes a burst of flame to the face, then ducks back around the corner and invokes a healing spell.

Five foot step, then CMW.

"Trouble!" Lara calls, unshouldering her bow and moving toward the room Lolito had gone into.

Double move.

Lara realizes that she's holding her breath as she hears the hum start up after she threw the final switch. Exhaling deliberately in a sigh of relief that it worked, she moves out into the hallway and looks to see what the now-lit ioun torches may have revealed.

She hears Lolito call out about Azlanti characters, though, and goes to see what he's talking about.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (14) + 20 = 34 +4 if canny observer applies.

Lara is struck by a flash of inspiration and decides to fiddle around with the components in the room to bleed off excess energy before throwing the switch.

Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

“Hmmm. Well, I think these are generators. Probably, we can flip a switch in here to get power flowing to the rest of the compound. It’d probably blow up the room if we did that, though. Need to find a way to siphon energy off, first.”

She taps her chin in thought, then adds, “Throw the switches one at a time, maybe?”

Lara follows Lolita into the room with the pillars crackling with electricity. Seeing the bronze containers, she wonders if they could be used to power something else. That in mind, she looks about for a way to safely handle the bronze shells.

Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17

Could make it on a 20...but that's not a 20.

Lara is likewise unaware.

Lara swims closer to Kragg and takes the vestment off his hands.

Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

As Kragg attempts to pull the sword loose, Lara says, "You know, this reminds me of an old legend about a sword in the stone....I think the right person has to be the one to pull it out. Kind of like how some old legends say swords knew the character of a person and would only release themselves from the stone for the rightful king. That time of thing."

Lara eyes the sharks suspiciously, but can't recall what sort of shark they might be or what might be significant about the one that got curious and came closer to the party.

Lara swims closer to the statue and racks her brain, trying to recall what she remembers about Azlanti legend.

Lara screws her mouth up in frustration and follows after Lolito.

Lara burbles a short incantation and makes a grasping, pulling gesture at the mask. Going to cast Mage Hand and see if it can’t be maneuvered through the iron bars that way. If that fails, she’ll try to move the mask onto the statue’s face via Mage Hand.

“Fascinating,” Lara says. “These seem to be statues related to Azlanti myth. The accusatory one is Eyndea, a servant of Amaznen, and the mouthless one is Lissala, a goddess of secrets—”

She pauses, noticing the mask on the ground. “—Oh, hello. What’s this?” With a few short words, she incants a magic-detecting cantrip and studies the mask behind the bars.

Lara shrugs and takes the ioun torch. “Probably not.” She sticks the ioun torch in the slot anyway.

Use Magic Device +10 or Disable Device +20: 1d20 ⇒ 5

After examining the device and opening it to reveal a small slot, Lara looks to the others. “I think this fits an ioun stone. Do we have one on hand? Or did that overgrown skum?”

Can I take 20 on the Perception check? If so, I can hit a 41 after casting Heightened Awareness on myself.

Lara swims closer to one of the skum and slashes at it with her sword.

This round: Lara burbles out another haste spell, and Lolito, Kragg, Alyn, and Trick all feel much lighter on their feet.

Her bow still useless, Lara advances on the skum that is engaged with Kragg, and slashes at him with her sword.

Lara invokes a defensive spell, and a number of illusory copies appear around her.

Mirror Image: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Are we still hasted? If not, Lara will cast haste again.

Lara delays, waiting to see what the last skum does (and whether it was still alive after her comrades got through with it).

Recalling a new spell she’d been working on, Lara incants a few arcane phrases. As the spell completes, each of her companions feels much faster.

Casting haste.

Lara makes a pair of slashes at the skum in front of her.

I could see Lara using it for buff spells like haste, but if Derym has any buff spells at all, he’s probably better served by it.

I actually didn't even know that we still had treasure unclaimed. Lara will take the page of spell knowledge and the scholar's ring, if no one objects.

As for the pearl of power, I'm fine with Kragg taking it.

I don’t recall whether Lara has a light source, sooo…

Lara invokes a few watery words and a light appears, hovering overhead. Cast light.

Lara does her best to swim nearer to the skum.
