Female Human Cleric 7
Argh, sorry for the slow posting again. Deadline crunch at work. Kyra gratefully takes the scroll Ajax offers. "Thank you; Dawnflower willing, I may put this to good use..." After reading the scroll she approaches Magora and Darchanna. "My esteemed colleague has the right of it, Lady; Mendev will need the aid of all of us to contain the demon hordes until the Wardstones can be reinforced..." Diplomacy(Darchanna): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26 Perception(After the poisoning if it happens): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16

Init: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19 Kyra's head snaps around at Adaxis' warning, and she reaches for the holy symbol on her chest. Lifting it high, she calls out in challenge. "Foul servants of death and darkness, you have no place here! In the name of the Dawnflower, BEGONE!" Channel Positive Energy, 4d6+7, will save DC 15 for half damage, channel resistance does not apply

Kyra frowns as she hears the Major's words. "When I asked the Dawnflower for guidance this evening She graced me with a vision of demons and undead attacking the feast. This may be the precursor to that attack; we will all need to be on our guard..." She nods. "Should we encounter something worth reporting, where shall we find you?"

From her seat next to Magora, Kyra nods. "My colleague has the right of it," she adds. "My meditations of late have been plagued with visions of demons attacking, and I suspect I'm not the only servant of the gods who is receiving these warnings. I fear the time approaches when all must stand together, or be brought down one by one..." Giving it one more shot, Diplomacy Aid Other to Magora

Kyra could ask, but it'd be wise to wait for the guard captain's permission before sneaking onto the roof armed with a crossbow. It's the kind of thing they're trained to take poorly, after all... Time: Prior to the ball's beginning Kyra's face seems troubled when she rejoins the group after her prayers. "The Dawnflower saw fit to grant me guidance, but not regarding the ambassador -- instead, She forewarns me that the ball will likely be attacked by demons and undead. Keep on your guard, everyone -- and be prepared to defend the other guests." Time: At the ball, mingling Kyra times her approach to the ambassador with care, hoping to catch him in a good mood. "Ambassador Salhar, Dawnflower's Blessing be upon you. You honor us all with your presence." GM: OOCly, I suck at making smalltalk and socializing in general. Please, please don't make me RP all of it out...
Kyra's general plan for the conversation will be to stick to smalltalk at first and under no circumstances mention Osirion until he brings it up (given how much he dislikes what he believes the Pathfinders have done for/to his nation). If/when he does, make an appreciative comment or two about its heritage as one of the first true civilizations (the Dawnflower does not forbid her to lie or engage in flattering hyperbole) as well as wistful regret that she has never had the opportunity to see those glories for herself, and with the Worldwound spilling open in Mendev, she likely will not have one for some time to come -- which brings the conversation nicely to the topic she was hoping to address... Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 5 = 21

Timeskip - prior to the ball:
Cast: Divination, L4 spell. I'll get up a list of currently prepared spells when I get home. Timeskip - at the ball Kyra exchanges polite greetings with Blakros and thanks him once again for his assistance, then accompanies the guard captain as he shows them around the place, showing sincere interest in the nature of his tasks and what he has to say. Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

Kyra frowns as she ponders Ajax' request. "I can entreat the Dawnflower to bestow some of Her grace upon you, but Her favor would last only for a few minutes at most and I do not think casting spells in plain sight during the ball would be very appreciated..." Sorting through the cleric spell list, Eagle's Splendor lasts one minute per level (so 7 minutes), Prayer lasts one round per caster level. I don't think either of those is a viable option for the ball, but I haven't played a caster in a long time and if anyone can think of a spell that /would/ help that I'm overlooking, I'd appreciate suggestions. Edit: thought of something. She considers some more, then looks to Magora. "Alternately, I can ask the Dawnflower's wisdom to guide us in how we might best approach Ambassador Salhar and convince him to listen to his rational intellect rather than his dislike of us." Divination is a level 4 cleric spell, yielding "a useful piece of advice in reply to a question concerning a specific goal, event or activity that is to occur within one week" link. I figure "what would be the most effective approach to convince Ambassador Salhar to aid our cause?" is specific enough, but DM's call...

Finally got around to putting her up. Default L7 Kyra in Herolab portfolio Kyra nods. "Seems straightforward enough; mingle with the nobles, impress them with stories of our heroics, convince them to support the crusade, keep an eye out for trouble. Should be doable." She thinks for a moment. "Dilettantes being dilettantes, some of them are likely to be fishing for what they hope are juicy rumors or secrets. I don't suppose there's anything that's about to be declassified shortly anyway that we could offer them?" |
