Kuwabara Kasei's page

I ended up not using Kasei for my game yesterday, and now that I look at the sheet, I'm supposed to get out-of-tier gold, because this was a 3-7 and Kasei is level 5.

Thanks! I might want to use Kasei at an in-person game tomorrow. (Although that might have levelled me up our of the level range, I'm not sure.)

"The knights of Ozem are valiant and true -- but they are not Shizuran. This warrior will perform the ritual. It can be done at Lastwall, though, which is appropriate as she died in defense of that land."

Kasei takes the hand and rubs his head in embarassment. "Felt like when I had a bad fever as a child and became convinced my head was turning into a waffle iron."

Kasei looks at the remains of the ancient samurai and bows to her. "We will follow the rites of Shizuru. Her soul is most likely at rest already, but if not, this will assure it is." He examines the armor and sword, curious as to what she was buried with.

I think so, but I also think Kasei would stand up to attack, and Jaan would get that attack of opportunity, used to disarm, which would knock the sword from Kasei's hand.

The befuddled samurai stands up, whereupon Jaan knocks the katana out of his hand. Angrily, he shouts something incomprehensible in Minkaian and punches at Jaan with his spiked gauntlet.

Looks like there's two folks equidistant from me, so 1 is Jaan, 2 is Phosdlon. 1d2 ⇒ 2

Kasei stumbles about in confusion, mumbling in his native tongue. He sees Phosdlon before him but shows no recognition in his dark brown eyes, looking as if he thinks the elf is an enemy, and strikes out with his sword. Then he closes his eyes and starts intoning random syllables, a mish-mash of sounds that carries no meaning.

Kasei is under the effect of Bull's Strength so 2 more damage from that.

Was she invisible or hiding? I don't quite understand how she got a surprise round.

Kasei holds up his holy symbol. "No servant of Tar Baphon could serve the Lady Shizuru. Surely you know of the Empress of Heaven? This warrior has no talent for words, but you must believe us. It would be a grave injustice for there to be conflict between two servants of Heaven."

As he speaks, Kasei infuses his sword with holy energy to prove, as best he can, his bonafide connection to the forces of good. (Using the Good blessing to make his sword have a good aura.)

"Serve who? This warrior serves the goddess Shizuru, and in this mortal realm also the Pathfinder Society."

"Hold! This being is a sacred guardian! We must stop the violence and come to terms. If it is the will of Heaven that this lady's remains stay here, it is not for us to oppose it!"

Kasei steps in front of the suli and stands between him and the celestial being. He focuses his faith on his sword, willing it to avoid killing this holy being. "This warrior does not wish to fight you, but must protect fellow pathfinders. Please, let us reason together."

Swift action to add merciful to his katana. Readied action to attack the archon with nonlethal damage if it attacks him or another PC.

Attack roll for readied attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 9 + 2 = 22
nonlethal damage: 1d8 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 7 + (2) = 13

"What are you? We are not defilers, we came to see the last remains of the samurai elf who died her laid to rest properly!"

Can we look for traps first?

Kasei casts Shield of Faith and Bull's Strength as they prepare to open the door.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Kasei notices but doesn't respond to Jaan's disagreement.

"This warrior has no objection to the deal, but is it necessary to take the time to write it down? We are not devils -- is a binding contract truly necessary?"

I like to think that among good-aligned folks in Golarion, written contracts are seen as vaguely diabolic.

As Phosdlon moves up, Kasei holds up a hand. "This warrior has a wand that will do. Arigato, that is, thank you for the offer. It may be needed later."

Did the bombs from Ellismus and the second magic missile from Jaan do damage? If not, Kasei will heal himself and withdraw instead.

Kasei charges (If within 20 feet) with his katana raised, bellowing his kyai to empower his strike. Using fervor to swift cast divine favor if I can get an attack on it. Kasei moves forward with his weapon ready.

After Ellismus brings up the weapon, Kasei will take a look at it. Detect magic, Spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 if needed.

Kasei anchors the rope and lowers Ellismus as requested.

"Oh by the goddess, you want to climb down there?"

The samurai sighs, and gets his coil of silk rope from his pack.

Kasei takes the lead, weapon out.

"Agreed. Dono yōna akushū!" says Kasei, groaning at the stench.

Kasei holds his nose and looks over the edge of the pit to verify that what they smell is the only thing down there.

Kasei throws up a little in his mouth and has to spit.

Here still, just waiting to see what happens next I guess.

Kasei uses the wands handed to him, then asks, "Would you like this warrior to hold onto these to use on you, or do you prefer to hold them?"

Kasei is happy to use the wand, but aren't you able to use it yourself?

Kasei flicks his sword to shake acid off of it, and sheathes it with satisfaction. "Well done. Who is injured?"

Kasei moves to the east passageway, peering into the darkness with his wayfinder to illuminate the ancient halls.

"Ah yes, sky dragon, thank you Ellismus-san."

"Like the one hanging around this warrior's neck?" Kasei says dryly, holding up his own, smaller copy of the symbol, in delicately painted wood.

He stares at the floor carvings curiously. "The shogun's palace in Mukinami has carvings of many such tiānlóng but I don't recall what their name is in Taldane."

After reading the spoiler, I'd have been annoyed if Kasei hadn't gotten that one. Is this the method we are supposed to take to properly bury the samurai's remains, or is it what would have already happened?

While travelling, the Shizuran warrior remarks to Jaan and Desiree, "It seems that the best tactic, when we can focus on a single point, would be for Desiree and this warrior to take the foe head on, with Jaan behind us to strike with the naginata. What say you?"

"Who should carry these wands? I already have one that can cast protection from evil," Kasei says. "I would also like one of the Bear's Endurance potions, if no one minds."

Presumably we would discuss tactics during our journey. Kasei is a front-line fighter by strong preference, though he can use a bow when necessary. He won't use wands or spells to heal during combat, except in emergencies.

Taking 10 on both Knowledge (local) checks.

"A samurai elf, odd... most minakaians are human."

Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Kasei is from Shokuro, rather than Minkai, but speaks Minakian and is moderately familiar with Minkaian culture and history if that helps in any way.
