I shudder to think that a year from now the Dev team neglects to properly give Kobolds their due space on Asteroids and Moons through the system to mine hollow for profit and exploitation. Just think of it, orbital space stations filled to the brim with a rainbow of mini-dragons all chomping at the bit to get just past that next Thorium vein, space diamonds galore!
Sorry to say I have it on good authority that Starfinder will be starting it's beta testing on a very small scale, mostly with in house players and some other very lucky few others who've been invited to help run the system through it's courses. I'm sure we'll see a decent number of people from around hereabouts getting access to the playtest data but it won't be the kind of huge "everybody plays" kind of experience they have traditionally done in the past with Pathfinder products. I personally snagged an invitation to the TBA date beta test from working with the great folks at Paizo, and I'm more than a stones-throw from working for the Golem on any formal basis, but I expect closer to it's release date the fans will be able to get a playable preview if only to help find the remaining rough edges for the product.

I'm sorry to hear that! I'm still convinced that dying like this is the very reason PFS is so rewarding and fun. I just hope I made sure you had a Dagger and Rope at the time of death, that way I know I did my job right. If you want some more time to play around and learn the program you can download the Demo to play around with the core system stuff. I always suggest people check out the "demo" program because it's the full blown feature and all you'll need to do is unlock it with a Lic. Key if/when you buy one. :)
I'd like to give a big shoutout to all you lovely amazing folks in the Society for, yet again, making my GenCon experience so fantastic. Rincewind the Hero Lab tech checking in! I guess outing myself intentionally here is probably prudent, I was helping run the Character Creation Station with LWD & Hero Lab for the room along with a team of crack experts. It's been on hell of a ride these last 6 years and I'm more pleased than ever to get to know and work with all of you Society GMs, HQ and Helpdesk staff, PF Academy workers, and pretty much everyone else I know I missed a few. To the players in particular, I want to thank for all being so polite and patient, especially with very little sleep and a dozen people standing in line in front of you so you can get you game "rolling." I hope I was able to get your brand new PC's to the table in time for all your games. Special Mentions to Tonya and Bobby for making us feel more welcome than ever, I hope you all get caught up on some much needed rest and refresh before the next show in a few weeks.
I'd like to see a Freeholder feat that would need to be sloted on the action bar that lets multiple PC's loot a harvesting node at the same time, and share results. Something like each harvester gets loot roll equivalent to something like 101%-120% of what could normally be harvested from the node split evenly between all players who participate. Grey the action out for all PCs unless they are within harvesting range of a node, as well as at least 1 other PC. Give the ability something like a 3 second setup before the PCs start their normal "looting animation" for X time or even maybe an emote to let other players nearby that they can "join" the group harvest.
Being the best you can most certainly IS a bad thing in such cases that being "optimal" or "best" means following some guide that gets updated ever week as to what the new FOTM is. PFO will probably never have the kind of typical build guides that help players learn new Roles because the game is intended to have as many valid Role builds as there are ways to spend XP. In terms of using the "I'm the best" attitude in roleplaying that's all perfectly good and well. I'd even say there is NOTHING stopping someone who buys the game in 6 months from even succeeding at earning this lofty goal, entitled to him by some Nation or Tournament etc. You could win in fair fight after fair fight and turn out the victor against newbies, as well as the Day 1 EE players. The idea is that player skill and properly slotted equipment makes the player, not some number on your character sheet. To be the best means you have to convince OTHERS you legitimately are THE best. A different kind of PvP than the number-crunching for sure, but it's a different kind of cultural and social PvP system. The reason why it cant exist mechanically as a singular build is that no such "build" exists.
The completionist in any player will be required to understand that at BEST the closest they will ever come to completion is through the actions, talent, and resources an entire alliance, nation, or settlement they take part in. Nobody will ever have everything, but in time, some people will have access to someone who can help them get what they seek.
Yeah, some kind of explanation as to how monsters are generating threat now that it changed would be super cool. Had a group from KP out killing purple ogres this morning and it seems like threat applied to any given monster is being divided across the group that gets pulled along side it. I know that we all got attacked by wolves and louts even though none of us were even targeting them or healing. Additionally, thank you for looking into the healing nerf, as of right now the 6 second cooldown makes it useless to heal against anything that isn't a low level white, as well as making after combat recovery take wayyyy too long.
I'll be the first to admit that KP is a haven for AFK bank alts, slow as rocks Crafters, and a ton of "run-about" players in the SE. We enjoy a fantastic location and want to share it with everyone willing to keep their swords sheathed. Keeper's Pass is intended to be a place of peaceful commerce, hard work, and respect of others rights, including not being slain on the promenade. Stating it was "due to allies" isn't an inaccurate wording of what our situation was. We've forged great friendships and alliances with the folks nearby, and they find our home to be quite amenable for a number of reasons. This means the Hex is frequently what PvPrs would call "Target Rich." Inferring from Thod's statement that he intended to say Cause > Effect, therefore blame, I never read it as that and I'm sure that isn't was was meant. I'm really happy with how the first week has turned out, with everyone who is engaged beginning to put their toe in the water and I'm sure we will all have much more interesting battles to talk about soon.
Please Goblinworks, go play FF XXI or XIV, check out Linkshells and take a few pages from the SE book. I've played a dozen MMO's and none of them have ever come close to the simple and effective communication channels that the Linkshell can provide. Additionally, it would/could add another useful Consumable item to the game to help fuel the economy. Particualarly I think Alchemist could use some help as nobody is looking at crafting and says "Oh wow, Alchemist can make a bunch of awesome useful stuff."
You must think us all fools Blud. Regardless of all that malarkey, I think a nice simple "Lightning Strikes" map, perhaps even linked to the pfoatlas for geotagging that allows for descriptions. Sure it can get faked, just like everything else can, but as a Freeholder and Merchant Role player, knowing what hotspots for PvP there are around will be invaluable to me and my peers. As long as it's easy to use with minimal login-gates then I can see it begin adopted and useful.
Yeah, maybe instead of investing right now to try and buy some accounts off a given uninterested party (If you can contact them, believe me it's hard) you can instead save to invest in your own Smallholding, or even wait until more personal buildings and the like are implemented. I'd say there isn't an active settlement out there that wouldn't be interested in another fully engaged player looking to help lead other players especially if they come with bonus PoI of their own.
My 2c only, not to be construed as representative of KotC as a whole. I do not see this skirmish between competitors as being anything more than a bit of fun and rivalry. Emerald Lodge was looking to expand its holdings into unnegotiated territory, and BH was in the same boat. All participants seemed to be willing and ready for PvP on their own terms and I don't see why or how it could affect the status of the EBA. Cheers
My thoughts on gushers. 1) Only players with the proper Feat training in Freeholder and the proper Freeholder Implement should be able to harvest them. 2) They should be accessible, and visible as gushers only after they have been successfully harvested. 3) Key each different type of harvesting gusher node with a different "gusher" kit so to encourage further specialization. 4) You shouldn't be able to setup a gusher kit while in stealth. 5) Allow more than 1 PC to access and harvest from any given gusher, as it's unreasonable to assume 1 person can haul back or fully harvest a "motherload" by themselves.

I'm pretty sure that is the intention. I believe there was a hint somewhere that finding and combining them will make the appropriate tomes, which may end up serving some purpose towards the Knowledge skills. I'd imagine they could fill some paper doll slot to give a bonus to the books keyed Knowledge, or something like that.

Right, but how else are you going to practice your Healing Arts but in combat? Stay twisty friend ;)
The map is brutal. I wish my icon would even stick on the full map page after more than 15 minutes without having to relog. Really, a simple yellow arrow pointing in their direction when you hover their name in group would be helpful because we don't have a good native mapping lexicon and language yet.

I was grinding goblins solo for a while when a nice man from the west came along to help mow down some bandits to kill an hour or so, and I have to say group play makes this not only easy to get achievement progress reasonably but is also fun. Besides if you die, at least then someone can laugh about it and you both learn something new.
Nah, actually I think I was there and one of the two clubbed me when I was messing around with my feats. I was like "wut" and ran once I realized what was up. I made it all the way to KP without killing a single creature, motivation man. Back on topic > Everyone should use Stealth, I'm not even trained in it yet but with time and good aim you can pretty much ignore any hostile NPCs you encounter in your path.
Well the interrupt and charge shield attacks are pretty good though, more utility than function but I think they work nicely together. I've been using my charges on allies to get in range for a heal lately, and giving me a Charge in and a Shield Charge away or before the cooldown resets can be nice.
I think making it simpler would be better and easier to detect by the system: Achievement- Life Saver (Restore a friendly players health to full while still in combat after they have been knocked Unconscious/Dying) Rank 1 for 5 Pcs, Rank 2 for 10, Rank 3 for 20 and so on. I know for SURE I felt some satisfaction from saving a friend from dying after going down more once, felt like an achievement to me.
I like the current model for very low level and possibly uncommitted Cleric Role PCs. In the long term I am expecting a slightly higher level of power could be given with appropriate level spells, say level 2 or 3 even. Increasing the range of healing could prove tricky for balance so I'd rather simply allow a feat chain that increases the players Touch Range "Reach" by something like 1 ft per rank.
