So can I cancel my order from March 2022 since this has gone way to long?

Holy necro thread!!! I found an email from a friend about this thread from 2013 and clicked it again. It’s Interesting to read the first page thoughts and ideas now 10 years later and seeing how 5e and PF2e has turned out. From design to release schedule for both…some big misses but the ideas were based on what had been before from WoTC.

Hopefully everyone is doing well and enjoying whatever game they prefer or all of them!

One thing I will say is that 5E got it right in the amount of products it releases, which are minimal.

- 3 Core Books
- An adventure HC or 2 a year
- One crunch/fluff combo book about a specific topic

So in 4 years they have (I think)

- 3 Core Books
- 8 Adventures
- 3 Fluff/Crunch Niche Books (Volo, Mordenkainen and Xanathar)

I don't think people want non-stop books of feats and mediocre classes. Sales of 5E seem to indicate this and my personal buying preferences align with this philosophy.

Amen and agreeed! I bought the first few APs which were great but i stopped buying cause I already had enough to use in my lifetime so a slower release schedule fits my buying habits than the book of the month club Paizo release trend.

Why is it OGL based or compatible? Allows third parties to also make stuff for it?

As far as the initial read, I'm hesitant cause of the feats already being talking about being designed into. Ancestry feat at creation and a class feat every level? Can we expect to see the headache of feat trees and new feats in every single publication so it swells to a number north on "way to many?"

I'm on the fence but leaning toward the tap out already.

Same here ;_;

I hope paizo is paying attention - this type of comment is being posted often now in this thread by those that are typically AP subscribers.

Looking forward to February release of set 6.

Having to double and triple HP for the monsters to make it a challenge does not bode well for saying the Mythic system was well designed. Doing 5k in 3 rounds sounds fun for maybe the first time but game gets boring after that since it turns into rocket tag to determine the winner. Truly terrible system in my opinion.

Or make it a rider class (like the evangalist prestige class, where you trade a lower rate of class advancement for some extra powers.)

I actually was talking about this with my friend earlier. This class should come with class abilities and then you select another base class just like Evangelist which gets reduced progression added to that base.

As it stands I'm disappointed with the current class design and feel that the social part is useless and the Vigilante parts are mechanically weak.

I'm disappointed as well, like they are grasping at straws to create another hardback to sale, I could throw a bloat comment in here but I'd get lambasted by the hard core Paizo peeps so I'll just leave it at the first part.

On a somewhat related note, this is Year 3 for WotC being absent from the Dealers Hall of GenCon. I recall conversations in '13 along the lines of "Yeah, well wait until 5th edition comes out! They're gonna OWN that Hall!".
I'm sure they're in the same area they were in last year, near all the Magic play.

Thanks Vic for keeping an open and informative mind in this thread, I appreciate the candor from your personal standpoint even though you have a vested interest in one more so now. Deathdwarf - it looks as though you lost the bet last year and need to pay up :) have fun at GenCon though, I hope to make there one day.

Just an observation and probably mentioned before that many of the character classes I would like to see from reaper for pathfinder are female character based when I would prefer a male version of them as well. Since a majority of gamers are male who don't tend to play female characters, can we get a male paladin, cleric, etc to buy instead of the female version I won't be playing and won't need to buy?
That goes for the metal reaper as well as the new painted plastic minis.

Thanks!
