Male Human Fighter / Cleric

Kiergard let his arms fall to his side. The urgency that had so driven the his enchanted blade had ebbed as the aberration dissolved into the bubbling puddle that stained the floor. A wave of relief swepth through him as both Bastion and Nadia seemed to recover from the terrible battle, with the cleric of Saranrae then washing away many of the physical pains that had been inflicted by the creature.

But that did not remove the pain he still felt on seeing the remains of Linstrenn. THe mobile fighter was beyond any divine magic's that Nadia might possess and possibly all but the gods themselves.

He whispered a silent prayer of thanks to Desna and stood up straight and looked at his companions who had become his friends.

"This is done. Let's make sure the keeper left no others are left as bait for this creature. Then we should return to the mayor."

He paused in thought.

"What of the mayor's daughter?"

ooc: good question. I haven't actually been rolling damage recently leaving that for Fabian. Not sure why actually...

on that note, here's Kiergard's damage roll:

+1 abberation bane longsword:1d8 + 3 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 1 + (2, 2) = 15

Male Human Fighter / Cleric

Kiergard stomach sank as he saw Nadia fall. "NO!" he shouted with some fury and raised his enchanted sword again. This time however, there was no question whether it was the Ulfen warrior or the sword who was in control.

Kiergard stepped forward, hitting the disgusting beast solidly with a shield and with a rapid swirl spun on his heal pulling the enchanted blade through a wicked arc to strike at the creature.

ON HIT: The keen silvery blade sliced through the beast's tentacles cleaning etching a dark line across its form with deadly precision.

ON MISS: He grunted in anger as the beast managed to stumble away from his swing and avoid injury.

1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + 8 + 2 + (4) = 24 One more time using the action thingy

With a quick glance, Kiergard caught sight of Bastion falling to the beast's continued assault. His experienced battle trained eyes scanned the bloodied chamber and he rapidly weighed a number of options while parrying the relentless tentacle attacks.

His heart went out to his fallen foppish companion, but he had warned Bastion that this might happen. Kiergard could call upon Desna's grace for small reserves of healing, but to do so would require holding back on his assault of the beast. Having seen his companions repeated efforts so easily rebuffed by the creature, Kiergard was sure that the path of victory lay with his sword - the enchanted blade that sought to destroy these abmoniations.

With a heavy heart, Kiergard had quickly come to his decision. For the good of the remaining companions and for the town itself he must accept Bastion's possible sacrifice and press on with the attack. Doing anything else would foolishly grant the beast more time to defeat them all. He dare not be enslaved beneath the fear of these abmoniations and he knew that Desna blessed those who created their own luck.

"FREEDOM!"

His voice echoed of the now slick walls of the room. He wrestled back control of his magical blade and shoved his shield into the gruesome mass before him.

ON HIT: His sword arm swung vicously, repeatedly and with deadly accuracy, sending bits of the beast flying in all directions.

ON MISS: But for all his conviction, Kiergard's blade failed to hurt the creature. The abomination shrieked with a strange cackling glee as if it knew it had held back the warriors surge.

ACTIONS:
KEEP SWINGING!!!!

Kiergard cursed as another tentacle struck his head. The beast was weakened but Linstrenn appeared to have lost consciousness. For a moment the warrior considered calling on Desna's healing grace but he knew the monster would benefit from it as well.

"No. Use the sword." he mumbled to himself.

And his blade obliged. Kiergard had difficulty holding the sword's pummel as it vibrated with excitement, sensing the aberration's imminent demise. Even covered by the beast's sickly ichor, the blade still shone with a flashing intensity. Sensing an opening, Kiergard lunged forward, and with an unexpected eagerness his sword nearly pulling the massive Ulfen into the writhing mess of tentacles.

ON HIT: He pulled the sword free with an explosion of gore, painting his armor with a gruesome sheen.

ON MISS: The warrior couldn't control the violent pull of his enchanted weapon and the blade missed its mark.

ACTIONS:
Attack w/sword, spend action point 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 8 + 2 + (2) = 13

ooc: thanks for npc'ing Kiergard!

Kiergard grunted with exertion. He knew their attacks were hurting the creature, but would they finish it off before one of them fell to the aberration?

Again the Ulfen warrior blocked the incessantly grasping tentacles with his massive shield. Seeing an opening he thrust his enchanted blade into the writhing mass of horror before him.

ON HIT: His strike was greeted by another howl of pain and rage from the beast.

ON MISS: This time the tentacles twisted about his blade, neutralizing its thrust. He pulled with all his might to free his arm and sword from the vile creature.

ACTIONS:
Keep swinging!
1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 2 = 26

Kiergard grimaced as the keepers dead body was smashed against the walls. He resolve only hardened. This aberration must be destroyed.

He adjusted his shield to let Bastion slipped in beneath the Linstrenn's struggling form. The warrior knew they all needed to focus their strengths on defeating this beast. He lunged forward, holding on to his enchanted blade as it eagerly sought the skin of the beast.

ON HIT: Again the weapon slide home generating a screech of pain from the tentacled horror.

ON MISS: Kiergard pulled back his blade just in time as the vile beast used Linstrenn as a shield against the threatened strike.

ACTIONS:
Standard: Attack with Sword (just remembered to include +2 for aberration bane on the attack roll)
1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 2 = 19

ooc: its a busy day for me so I won't have turn 60 up till late tonight.

Male Human Fighter / Cleric

Kiergard sprang into action the moment that Crove was gasped by the alien fiend, trying his best to ignore the putrescent stench of the beast.

ON SUCCESSFUL SAVE: The Ulfen warrior clenched his teeth and focused on the creature.
ON FAILED SAVE: The Ulfen warrior choked on his own vomit as his body rebelled against horrendous smell.

Kiergard vaulted into the air leading with his mighty shield and energized by Desna's divine power. His fingers strained to hold his enchanted blade as it vibrated in anticipation of tasting the abomination's blood. Holding the sword in a reverse grip, he pulled the blade downward, violently stabbing at the tentacled demon.

ON HIT: The blade slid deeply into the beast's hide and then ripped free, releasing a spray of black ichor across the room.

ON MISS: By some other-worldly magic the tentacled beast avoided Kiergard's attack. The warrior's eyes widened with fear.

In mid-swing, Kiergard deftly switched his grip and pulled the blade upward. This time however the sword sliced at Crove's struggling form.

ON HIT: The evil keeper screamed in shock as Kiergard's blade drew a crimson streak across his back.

ON MISS: The beast's tentacles pulled Crove out of the way of the warriors blade.

ooc: hmmm...

Kiergard would assume Crove has to accmoplish this in 1 round or everyone's toast... and assume that he has to does something to make visible...

so: rnd 1 - beast arrives, crove does thing, kiergard casts true strike

Male Human Fighter / Cleric

Kiergard glared at Crove. The Ulfen warrior had no intention of letting Crove trap the beast, but Kiergard was smart enough to use the evil wizard. He'd let Crove think he was playing along but as soon as the opportunity arose Kiergard would strike the abomination down.

"We'll try it your way Crove."

In his now familiar way, Kiergard slammed his sword and shield together and inaudibly whispered "Desna guide my blade".

ooc: assuming Kiergard could time the arrival of he will cast TRUE STRIKE just before the creature appears.

Male Human Fighter / Cleric

ooc: I'll have a post up this evening.

Male Human Fighter / Cleric

ooc: Kiergard would stay his hand recognizing the greater threat even though he's ready to pummel the brains out of this guy

Kiergard was astounded that the man had stood up to his charge, but more so by his call for aid. Confused he stared at the keeper while his hand held his sword at the ready. In a barely controlled fury, Kiergard spat words out to Crove,

"YOU called it here! YOU and your keepers. Would you now kill it??"

"Speak fast or I shall cut you down like I cut your brethren."

actions: intimidate 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31

Male Human Fighter / Cleric

Fortitude Save (1d20+10+2=18).. woo hoo. just! All hail Nadia!

Chocking vapours quickly surrounded Kiergard. They stung his eyes and inflamed his lungs. It was but by the grace of Nadia's magical protection that the northern warrior was able to resist the worst effects of the keeper's magical attack.

Infuriated, Kiergard screamed with raw fury that would shake many men. He launched himself forward as his powerful legs pounded loudly against the stone floor. Though his sword was raised, he did not use it. Instead he raised his mighty shield and bowled into the caster.

[action: use OVERRUN to move through the keeper and setup flanking opportunities with bastion.

NOTE: Kiergard has improved overrun, preventing the keeper from avoiding the Overrun attack, preventing AoO's and adding +2 to his manouver.

SUCCESS: Kiergard's shield struck Crove with a bone crunching thud, sending the caster to the floor. Kiergard easily danced over his fallen form, reading to strike with his sword.

FAILURE: Though Kiergard's shield struck Crove with a loud thud, the vile man had readied himself and managed to stay on his feet, blocking the Ulfen's path.

Male Human Fighter / Cleric

Kiergard grunted in response to Nadia's comment and nodded his head in agreement. He had no desire to injure the mindless inmates but suspected that they might have little choice in the matter. Assuming the matter settled, he strode forward towards the as yet unexplored area and readied his blade to strike with its flat side should any of the deranged men attack.

Kiergard watched with grim satisfaction as the tentacled creature dissolved into the water. "Good. It is done." The warrior left the water and cleansed his blade an armor of the filth from battle. He stood silently and watched as Bastion scoured the area for spoils. He wanted none of it. He wanted Myre.

>>REF(NADIA):"I vote for clearing the cells to the north before returning to the area where those patients were tied to the wall. Does anyone have any other ideas?"

Kiergard simply nodded to Nadia and strode in the direction she suggested.

May I present, Kiergard of Desna (Grawln Alias), for your consideration. I'm assuming he'll likely be a Fighter/Cleric. As I'm still learning the ropes of this forum, let me know if you have any issues viewing him.
