Hey all, still here. Been crazy busy and I think, after more than five straight years of PbP, I was a little burnt out and needed a bit of a break. If Kib's not dead, I'm still game to continue along with you all. If he's toast, an/or you want some new blood along, no worries and no hard feelings. Either way, it's been great fun. Thanks!
Kib shuffles forward with the others, keeping towards the back and hidden. However once the giant reveals himself, he grits his teeth and puts his hands on his waist, near his wands. Surreptitiously, he pulls out his wands of fireball and enlarge person.
Ready for trouble, he waits to see how things will pan out.
We're all supposed to be level 4 now? Just checking.
As Hon steps away Kib calls out "Hey Hon, if you don't come back, can I get the Owl's Hideout?"
Before he leaves the distraught gnoll, Kib tries to tab him companionably on the shoulder, saying [b]"Don't worry, we'll be back!"{/b] although he clearly is not overly sure of that fact himself. Looking over to his Dwarven allies who gleefully march towards their death, Kib looks back to Boog Boog, shrugs his shoulders in a helpless 'Dwarves, wadda ya gonna do?' way and hurries to catch up to them. As they reach the group of new gnolls, he hangs back for the present, allowing the others to take the lead as usual.
As he enters with the others, if there is no present light source, Kib summons four globes of light to hover around the party, providing illumination to those as need it.
Staying back but keeping alert, and making sure the message cantrip doesn't expire, Kib turns to Gallak for translation "What the hell did he just say??"
This game wouldn't be the same without Hon. Kib would definitely miss disliking him. The dice gods are fickle, and they've peeved all of us off at one time or another. Seems like Hon was just getting all his bad luck out of the way up front, so from now on, things should be rosy.
Haha. Ah, poor Hon. Kib may have a spell to quickly get him back to blonde if he likes? ; )

Total Non- Lethal Damage: Kib shuffles miserably though the cold and, for him, waist high and greater snow. He is extremely grateful to finally make camp and for Kragg's use of the wand. "G-g-g-great purchase that! Let's make sure we never run out!" Even though he can't properly read the odd humanoids, still feeling more comfortable with the presence of the Gnolls, figuring if they had meant to attack, they would have by now, his sleep is much easier than the night before.
Kib spends his time closely watching each of the seperate tribes. He looks to see what, if any, cohesion or, conversely, animosity there might appear to be between any of the tribes. He also looks to see which tribes seems strongest, and which the weakest. He constantly keeps his companions linked with the message cantrip. While nervous and suspicious, he still hopes for the promised safe passage. At night, using the cantrip, he shares any findings with his comrades. Then adds "Let's make a contingency plan. Should they attack us, I will summon a fog cloud to cover our retreat. Which direction though should we all run? Hon? You've been studying the map with Boog-Boog, what say you?
Kib whispers back the message "It's probably cursed. I mean, he can't really be that bad a shot, can he??"
Hearing Hon's proposal and agreeing that his crossbow is nearly useless to him anyway, Kib attempts to make his illusions illustrate the deal. One Gnoll accompanies them, and at the end of the journey, Hon hands him the Very nice, Very shiny crossbow. The two parties then part ways, big smiles on their faces and waving their fond farewells. When he finishes his turns to Gallak and the others with him with a shrug "What? A little friendliness here and there can't hurt none, can it?"
Arching an eyebrow at Gallak and then harumphing, Kib turns back to the gnolls and continues the illusion to create a huge pouch in the air and then has three gold coins coming out of it and falling into the palm of gnoll who had done most of the speaking thus far.
Looking askance in some annoyance as Gallak steals his thunder with a simple spell, Kib nevertheless pays close attention to the negotiations. He leaves the bargaining though to Kragg.
Hearing his companions, Kib calls back over his shoulder, annoyed "Ack ye blasted fools! Are ye forgettin already that they tried ta warn us Not ta come this way! If we go makin enemies Everywhere we go soon won't be any point comin' out of our holes." Continuing on Kib approachs close enough that his illusions can be easily seen. This timr he elects to put on a more elaborate show. Watching the gnolls very carefully he first enacts a scenario of evil looking giants enslaving and mistreating gnoll slaves. Then he has a group of dwarves, looking very much like he and his companions, charge in, free the gnolls and together the two groups defeat and kill all the giants. Afterwards they all celabrate around the fire, clearly all friends and allies. If at any point they seem to be getting overly upset or aggressive he stops.
Upon observing the other's reactions, Kib continues the illusion, this time putting somewhat faded images of frost giants over area representing the way ahead. Later on when he sees the group following, he tries falling back a bit, to see if they will let him get any closer this time. He also calls out to Hon this time, saying "Hey, gasey man, yer pretty good with unnerstandin' foreign tongues, ain't ya? Why don't ye see if ye kin unnerstand what these folks be sayin, or at least help them unnderstand us"
Kib looks back at his party at the sound of Kragg's holler, then looks again at the strangers and shrugs his narrow shoulders. He begins to turn around to head back but stops as an idea occurs to him. Calling up some of his simplest magic, Kib conjours a colourful display in the sky above himself, while also creating a crude map of the way behind. His intention is to create something fun and pleasing to the eye, while also hopefully conveying the idea of exchanging information. He allows the display to remain for a couple of minutes, then lets it fade away and waits a few ticks for a response. If there is still no visible, favourable response, he'll shrug again and begin tromping back to his friends. He does though look back over his shoulder every few seconds.
Kibibblepep does a bit of a double take when Kragg suggests that the Gnome should go do the parleying, as that had not at all been his intention. However, not wanting to lose face in front of his dwarven brothers, the small sorcerer takes a deep breath, squares his shoulders, and starts trudging forward. Despite himself, he is visibly relieved when Gallak joins him. As they get closer and he sees the reaction of the others, Kib slows, then stops, then calls out in a loud but friendly voice "Hullo! Don't mean tae alarm ye! Just wanting a friendly chat 'bout the trails and such we've each been past already!" If there's no response, he begins walking slowly forward again to a point he can be sure they'll be able to hear him, stops once more, and tries with the same speech again. Diplomacy:
Never having been a big fan of the winter or cold, Kib trudges along with his near typical scowl, He travels almost last in the pack, allowing his bigger and wider cousins to tramp down the snow for him. Mercurial as his fey nature, he does have a bit of sport his morning by non-magically changing the colour of a bank of snow. However his good mood , as well as his appetite, is utterly ruined by the sight of a nearly naked Hon. Grabbing a non-yellow bunch of snow he quickly makes a snowball and beans it at the rogue, yelling "This dang snow's not bad enough now yer trying ta make us blind! Put some clothes on ye gully dwarf!" Snowball attack:
Later on in the day, when they spy the other group, Kib yells up towards Kragg "I say let's give 'em a hello! They may have some info 'bout tha trail or ahead, or tha giant's hear-abouts that we kin share!"
Not having realized that the Society controls or is connected to every single business in town, Kib first speaks to correct the erroneous Gnome. "Ah, our objection wasn't to yer dealing with stolen or black market items friend, our objection was to yer havin' one o' our stolen items in yer possession. I'm sure ye woulda felt tha same were positions reversed. And we likely woulda been happy ta work out some sorta compromise. Cause after all, it's not really fair either that yer now out tha money ya paid fer tha shovel. But yer boss didn't give us now chance to make it right. Course, tha difference should be commin' outta tha damn thief's hide, but I get me the feelin ye might not be a' tellin who tha thief be, even if ye knowed." Takin' a breath, Kib continues "Anyway, so are ye sayin' even the entire market be controlled by tha society as well? And the only other way ta purchase goods in this town be if they be stolen? Not much o' a choice between them two now is it?" Scratching his scraggly beard in thought for a moment Kib muses aloud "What's an honest Dwarf ta do...?" Finally he finishes and answers "Well, I don't imagine a day will make much of a difference to our plans, but I'll have ta run it by Kragg and the boys. Oh, and Joan. I'll get back to ya in a little bit mate. Good packing fer ye." He then finds Kragg and the rest, explains the situation, and waits for their opinions.
Oh, sorry, didn't see this before my last post. I have another question though, so is it necessary (and if so, why?) to go through the black market to get something as standard as a 1st level wand? Especially when there's a whole school of wizards in town?
Knowing their party's presence would be less-than-welcome in town at the moment, Kib begins inquiring around the hold on the possibility of asking, or hiring, one of the local dwarves to head into town to do their shopping for them. Knowing that a quartermaster knows how to get supplies, he begins his inquiry with his new Gnomish pal.
Kib shakes with a firm but non-challenging grip, his smile genuine as he chooses to ignore any tricky territory for now and replies "Well, you know how we Dwar...I mean them Dwarves are. Heads as thick as the stone they mine and even more stubborn." Kib glances down casually at the slate in his hand, seeing what's on it, then hops up on one of the crates, making himself comfortable. "So you think there's really no chance of us joining you all on the mining expedition any more eh? Nothing that can be done to patch things up? Maybe a friendly wrestling competition or something? Winner gets an apology from the looser maybe? We could make it into a little Event, drinks and betting an everything!"
Ok, I was biting my tongue (ok, well mostly) about the whole brouhaha, but now I have to say something as I'm more confused than ever. First off, I still don't understand how/why Thumper got so upset. Kragg never accused them of anything, let alone stealing the hammer. He simply said that ours was stolen, and If (he did emphazie the If with a capital I) it was ours, that he wanted it back. Certainly reasonable. And Nobody in our clan insulted anybody in Thumper's clan or their skills. Well, except Gallak insulting the Gnome, but that was a personal insult, not a clan-wide one. Kragg didn't say anything along those lines at all and all Gallak said regarding the clan or their skills was that the Gnome had no place to say that his clan were the best miners. And certainly no one insulted Thumper personally. Kragg said that our shovel was stolen, which it was, and Thumper knew damn well it was stolen (if not necessarily from who-but it wouldn't have been to hard to guess) if he bought it from the blackmarket. So how is that an insult? You're the DM Chainmail and I'm happy to go by your rules and play in your sandbox and I'm certainly still enjoying myself. But if I'm to be honest it sorta feels like events have been railroaded a bit (and, actually, this is not the first time I've felt that way.) Please understand, I'm not unhappy with the game in general, but I am the kind of person who much prefers open and honest communication. So I hope this is all taken in the context and intention in which I mean it. Cool?
Not getting a response from Kragg regarding a possible stop-over at their home-clan hold, Kib becomes even more quiet and withdrawn at the party. While Kibblepep considers himself a Dwarf in almost all respects, he is not actually crazy, and so therefore does know that he is indeed, at least outwardly, a Gnome. As such, although it doesn't happen often, he does on the rare occasion, desire the company of other Gnomes. This evening does happen to be just such an occasion. Not particularly feeling the party at the moment, he gives a polite greeting and farewell to Mama Alpsbane and goes to seek out Thumper's Gnome second. He arrives in the big underground room shortly after Gallak. While the bard engages Thumper, Kib approaches the other Gnome. Sticking out his hand he says quietly with a grin "Name's Kib. What's yours? N' also, just wanted tae say, don' be minding Big Mouth over there" as he hooks his thumb towards Gallak "His bark is worse than his bite, but not worse than his breath! Haha!"
Wait, the Dwarf who terrified the Gnome and sent him running before our Leader even got a chance to talk to him is asking to be the party negotiator?? Now I know I'm in a Dwarven party! ; P And also, do we have any gp left in the clan kitty? As I'd really like to have a wand of magic missle for Kib. And also there was some other spell that woulda come in real handy, but I forget what it was. Anyone? And anything else we need as a team while we're here? And where's Nar??
Kib joins in on the festivities, but is still uncharacteristically quiet. At one point though he does speak quietly aside to Kragg, saying "I figure it'd be smart to stop by the Clan for a tik, check in, get any updates from Rock and give our report. And as well, I'd like to get the staff back in my hands, now that I have my magicky sack ta carry it in. I sure know it woulda come in handy back in them druegar mins and I'd hate ta need it and be without it again."
Hey, that I'm sure that barbarian woulda cheated, he was a druegar after all, which is why Kib attacked him. And that druid looked funny. Course he coulda just had a sensitive nose and been partial to certain, shall we say, 'aromas', originating from certain bean and stanky ale loving' secret society members (Kib has always remained firm in his belief that their whole organization stinks) But now that Kib has contributed twice as much as he felt was worthy to the 'Let's help Hon become a proper thief, finally' fund, and his guilty conscious from being so Clearly superior to his 'all thumbs' teammate is assuaged, Kib is fine to go wherever. But the Cookie Jar is still his top pick.
As Kibblepep listens to the ornery Dwarf go on at first he gets a bit hot himself, but the feeling soon turns to grudging respect and then something close to admiration, especially when Thumper makes clear how much he hates the Society and plans to get vengeance on them. Looking to Kragg, he nods his head one, as if to give his approval of both the Dwarf and his plan to steal the adamantite mine from the Society.
Can you give us all our options on what we can choose from next to do Chainmail? And (believe it or not ; ) Hon does make a good point (I know, I know!). Why in the world Did we go into town and all the BS that entailed when we had a good, solid enclave of DWARVES we coulda hung with? Oh, and on another note, Chainmail, was you posting the cost of Kragg's resurrection your way of telling us that That was all the 'loot' we were gonna get? Cause if so, damn it! Oh! Ah, I mean...
Welcome Back Kragg! = D
After looking to see if his water elemental returns, Kib rejoins the main column and marches with them. Although he still has some unsettled ire with the mage Chris from their previous encounter in the city, his natural curiosity finally overcomes this and he begins to spend more time with the mage speaking of magical things, something he rarely to never gets to do with his own dwarven cronies. Other than talking shop with Chris though, Kibibblepep is uncharacteristically quiet and introspective for most of the journey.
Surprised with himself and the power of his spell, Kib watches in fascination at the result of his handiwork. He also though keeps a close eye on the large, incredibly dangerous admantium creation that seems to have a problem with the whole thing.
Since his encounter with the elemental, something had been niggling at Kib, a familiar sensation he had felt many times in his life when his fey blood was whispering to him of new knowledge and hidden secrets. Moving still invisibly and quietly over to the edge of the cliff, he spies the escaping man and then closes his eyes in concentration. Moving naturally, acting without conscious thought, he allows his blood to speak for him. Soon something begins to form in the water, a shape, a figure. Once it is fully materialized Kib points his finger to the bobbing man as says simply "Kill" FRA: Summon Small Water Elemental, send it to attack the dude in the water.
Huh, and here Kib always thought that was due to Hon's terrible diet of cabbage and baked beans. At least his trying to channel it in a positive direction! Kib's leveled. Couple new spells (lvl 2, whoo!), some skill points yadda yadda. C`mon level 6!

As the two men are detailed to 'look around', Kib hides even further in the whole, just letting his eyes peep over the edge, and prepares to cast an invisibility spell on himself if they look to be coming his way. Stealth (+cover?):
Ah, also the reprecussions of letting them know we have one or members they still haven't rounded up yet. You're not about to blurt out "Oh ya! Well our hidden Gnome friend will get you! You just wait!" Or anything the like, are you?? : P
Knowing there is little to nothing he can do to help his allies at the moment, Kib remains quiet and hidden behind the thicket, only his head sticking up above the chimney rim. Under his voice he mutters a continuous stream of curses against druegar, humans ,of course Hon, and elves as well, just for good measure. As he watches the men, he tries to ascertain what he can about, where they might be from, their strengths or weaknesses and anything else that might aid him in rescuing his friends. He also looks around for any thorn or briar or overgrown patches he might escape through with his natural fey-like abilities.
