Dec 2010 Update for Pathfinder Modern. This is a re-imaging of the MSRD for the Pathfinder Role Playing Game. The dataset can be downloaded at: http://www.d20moderndb.com/game-rules/rules-conversions/59-hero-lab-dataset -pathfinder-rpg-conversion-of-d20-modern Some rules were changed to fit easier into the Pathfinder setting. I will go over a few to help navigate through the dataset. • At the moment, we have almost the entire core book done, (a big THANK YOU to Pezmerga), (missing the Priest class, Occult class and the monsters). • A few things from the Urban Arcana, Past and Future books, and empty place holders for the other books and references. • The Base classes are all normal classes now, (still go up to level 20), there is an issue with the defense bonus and the CMD, not working right. • Occupations are now traits. They should all work like the MSRD now. • Action Points are at the moment left out, (you can include them by checking the Action Point Box in the Configure Hero screen), but until I can find a work around for Action Points, all Feats, Talents and/or Abilities were adjusted to fit the change. • Wealth and Reputation Bonus is now Skills. All the gear and items have the original Wealth DC, but there was no real way of converting everything to gold and/or work in a Wealth roll otherwise. It’s not perfect, but close. All Occupations Traits and Feats have been adjusted to give the skills a bonus when need. • Feats that are similar to a Pathfinder feat were not copied over. Just the new feats were put in. There is no archaic weapon, and or firearm feats. See below. • Weapons – Are assigned either: simple, martial and/or exotic weapons. Hand guns are basically Simple Weapons and Long Arms fall into Martial Weapons. If a weapon is Exotic, is just another Exotic weapon. • Skills – Skills were already rolled over into the Pathfinder setting were removed. Treat injury was rolled over into heal. Navigation rolled over to Survival, Knowledge: theology and philosophy was rolled over to Knowledge: Religion. • FX – same as feats, whatever was similar to a Pathfinder magic item and/or spell was not copied over. Just the new items and spells were put in. • Weapon Enhancements are under Item Powers, (like adding keen to a weapon). • There are a few Occult Languages added and are listed under Secret language. • I also add from RPGObjects – “Blood and Brains” I have the character backgrounds, feats, FX items, spells and I add two Advance classes as Archetypes for Ranger and Sorcerer. IDK if it works well or not. If not I’ll change them back. • Added Supernatural Heroes. It’s a homebrew I am working on that mimics MCWoD D20, but seeing it is not OGL I had to change a few things and only use OGL material. It is not done yet, but all the mechanics are in place for easy editing. There are Templates for Angel, Demon, Vampire, Waken, and Werewolf. Each has three Factions to choose from. Each has a Power Pool and level based special abilities. I put in empty place holders for easy editing to put in your own powers. I will be working on OGL powers later, but this is a good start for everyone. • Anyways a lot of bug fixes from gear, weapons, feats, etc. If you find more please let me know! That is all I can think of at the moment. More will be coming later on, but this is a good start for the community. I can be reached on the Hero Lab forum under the user name: Frodie. Thank you to everyone that helped out with this project, the Lone Wolf staff, ShadowChemosh, TCArknight, (who is doing a D20 Modern dataset for the Hero Labs D20 dataset), Pezmerga, (who did all the Advance Classes and many updates), and many more! This is a beta file and is not yet complete . Oct - Update to the Hero Labs dataset can be found here:
Here is an updated Modern Pathfinder dataset: Added the d20Modern Database skill conversion. A lot of bug fixes. OGL parts from "Blood and Brains" from RPGObjects - trying to see if the prestige class will work as Archetypes - kind of so/so at the moment. Still working on getting things closer to the MSRD, (like the Occupation traits - letting the user pick from a list of skills), and still need to input the advance classes, etc. Kevin ![]()

BTW - Faith now works like this: The Dedicated hero has a great deal of faith. It might be faith in self, in a higher power, or in both. This unswerving belief allows the Dedicated hero to add his or her Wisdom modifier to the die roll an attack roll, skill check, saving throw, or ability check. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier. Again, if you want Action Points, you can program them in yourself and/or chose them in the House Rules editor in the software. Not everyone uses Action Points and etc, but the option is there if you do. ![]()
You are free to edit the data set as you see fit. All I am doing is added "what I can" to the Hero Lab Pathfinder dataset. Hero Labs is a character program found at: http://www.wolflair.com./index.php?context=hero_lab The dataset is a revising of D20 Modern based on what I can program into the software. I have gone through and made sure everything works without Action points and Reputation rolls. The work is based on the MSRD but it is a "Homebrew" and free to anyone who wishes to use it. But, there is someone who is making a D20 Modern dataset for Hero Labs that is, "by the book", for the d20 system and that maybe more to your liking. It can be found at: http://forums.wolflair.com/showthread.php?t=10833 The dataset is almost done, for what I am going to do. I am going to finish up the last base class and I'll be done for a while. It may not be exactly what everyone wants, but it is a start. At the moment nobody is doing anything for Modern in the Pathfinder setting. So I did what I could within the limits of the software, my programing skills and a few house rules. You can go into the data set and add and subtract as you see fit. The basic material is there and it will give the community at least “something” to work with. ![]()
Ok, I am done with the first base class, (Strong). All the base classes will be under NPC classes, (they work the same way) and go to level 20. The defense bonus is done a little different. Now everyone will get a +1 AC bonus every 2 levels. I got the script from the “Razor Coast” dataset by ShadowChemosh and I think it will work well for the setting. Also, I dropped the Action points and Reputation rolls. I don’t think they are needed, but you can add Action points in the House Rules editor for Hero Lab if you want them. http://forums.wolflair.com/showthread.php?t=10761&page=3 ![]()
Got some work done: http://forums.wolflair.com/showthread.php?p=41862#post41862 Some of the rule changes came because of Hero Lab. I'm not a programmer, and it is not easy to edit the software.
The background occupations are now “Traits” and it was a big pain to work them in, and they are not the same as the MSRD. I could not get Hero Lab to let the user pick class skills. So, I gave every occupation 2 class skills that I thought would work well. I know you used to pick 3, but it seemed more in line with the Pathfinder traits anyways. I think the Wealth Bonus as a Wealth skill will work out fine. IDK have to see. Skills, also took a lot of thought, (what to roll into another skill and what to keep). IDK, seems ok now. Repair let roll into the craft feats, (seemed like a good place for it). Navigate into Survival. Gambling into Profession: Gambler.

BTW - Here is a link to the files over at Hero Lab:
I have been posting the files as I get done with a whole section. I have a lot more done, but they are not compleat at the moment. Things I haven't yet started - Spells, magic items, monsters, but I think that will be everything once done, I think, lol. ![]()
Ok, had a few ideas. Keep in mind a lot is based on “how to get this to work in Hero Lab”, so it may not be perfect, but will work.

I started work on a user data file in Hero Labs for D20 Modern in the Pathfinder setting. So far, weapons, armor, lang, skills are done, and feats and equipment, are on the way. The problem is what to cut and what to keep. I never liked the wealth roll, (it dosen't work in Hero Lab anyways), and the dreaded "base" classes, (never liked them). I am just putting the MSRD on top of the Pathfinder rules. But I am kind of lost on what is in and what is out. Any ideas? ![]()
Here is the pdf with art. The website also now has all the old rules upload and NPC and other stuff coming. Hope yall enjoy it! I have re-wrote the old Highlander rules as an OGL. It is from the ground up, cleaned up and should fit into any D20 setting and/or system. I also have made a Hero Lab - pathfinder dataset for the rules. The files can be found here: http://www.enworld.org/forum/d-d-legacy-house-rules/279123-new-highlander-i mmortals-open-gaming-license.html#post5228192 or http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/highlanderd20/ I hope yall enjoy the files. ![]() Hi there I am about to choose my sorceresses new archetype and wad wondering about one of her tattooed mystic powers. "You may bury a card to add it's adventure deck number to your check" I need clarification if this can be done after you reconcile the roll or if it needs to be done before the roll. I personally feel it should be usable after the roll since it is like she is changing her fate and it fits with the kind of powers a mystic would have. But I now to the devs decision. ![]()
![]() Hey All Making a Grenadier Alchemist and would like you all to help critique it for me with any ideas you think will improve my gameplay. I am gonna really play up the whole Mad Scientist loves explosions in my RP so i am taking the Grenadier Archetype to assist me with that. here is my Breakdown: Name Pending
PFS Character so 20-Point buy STR: 12
Alternate Racial Traits:
Feats:
Traits:
Weapons:
Armor:
Gear:
Formula Book: (2 + INT Mod 3)
I am kinda upset i can't get Precise shot till lvl 3 but Precise Bomb at lvl 2 for the Grenadier Archetype helps that a bit. I did not add the normal stuff you get from being an alchemist in the feats and stuff since most know them but any help with my lvl 1 build and my future feats/discoveries would be appreciated. This is my first steps towards a caster since i have mostly played weapon damage dealers (Rogue, Zen Archer, Barb) so any advice for my extracts would be appreciated, i mostly went healing and defense based for my lvl 1 stuff. Thanks for your assistance! ![]()
![]() Hey people, I am new to caster classes and wish to make an arcanist since it mixes both a wizard and a sorcerer which were two classes i was thinking of making anyway but having trouble with making him since i have never made a mage class before (rogue, zen archer, barb) i was wondering if someone could assist me in making him as i want him to be. i am basically making him out to be a mad scientist kinda arcanist. Always in his books and experimenting with spells. I want him to be a huge blaster throwing out large spells like they are candy and not thinking about the consequences. to this end he has a few dump stats to give him an insanely high int modifier at lvl 1 STR: 7, DEX: 16, CON: 14, INT: 20, WIS: 7, CHA: 7 but other than that the traits, feats, and equipment are throwing me off since i am used to wearing armor and using weapons to deal damage. i got a light crossbow 20 bolts and a dagger atm and a spell component pouch. He is an Elf with the 2 points in INT and i have him in Dark Archive as his Faction. Any assistance with exploits and feats would be appreciated since i am having troubles understanding the spellbook and Caster Level and Spell Slot mechanics. I have read the core rule book and even have ultimate magic and ACG but the writing is Egyptian to me lol. I appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks ![]()
![]() Played with my local PFS Group as a new Mesmerist. still tweaking him a bit but i basically wanted to play him as a buffer/debuffer skill monkey with a mouth on him. (Think Woody Harrelson from "Now you See Me" Movie) My Mesmerist is a Kitsune so my starter charisma was 18 and i have 5 knacks and 3 lvl 1 spells. i carried a Whip and crossbow with me and wore leather armor. throughout the scenario i was the main talker with my high diplomacy and bluff checks which is always fun but the real fun came in combat. unlike a previous thread i read as a lvl 1 i did not use my spells too often but i grabbed Hideous Laughter, Ray of Enfeeblement, and Blurring Movement as my Lvl 1 spells. I was playing with 2 pregens and a Kineticist. the Pregens were Harsk =D and The barbarian. whenever i had the high initiative my first action was to hit the barb with false flanking trick and move into position with my whip. if any enemies were still up when it came back to my turn i was always there with my whip for tripping giving my barb flanking and position superiority in many fights. in the final fight when the barb was felled i continued with my tricks helping Harsk and the kinetist in their roles or tripping enimies that came too close. I will be taking this mesmerist into the Emerald spire tommorrow and should have more info. unlike the higher level mesmerist i relies on my whip and knacks and tricks than my spell list but that could be because of my limited number of spells. i did use Ray of Enfeeblement during the scenraio but mostly stayed with tricks and trying to position enemies for my team mates to do well. ![]()
![]() Hello all a new PFS player here. i recently played a God's Market Gambol Mod with my local PFS group and enjoyed the heck out of. i have been reading all the character creation PDF's bought my core handbook, and basically have begun trying to create a character but i am a little confused about a few things. For one i am stuck at the skills stage of my character creation. I am making an elf rogue models slightly after Merisiel and so have been looking to her pre-gen sheet for some tips while making a brand new lvl 1. When i got to the skills section of the creation PDF it says: Quote:
but when i read the core handbook all it tells me is that the modifier for skills for a rogue is 8+int modifier. So basically my question is how many skills do i start out with and how do i determine my modifiers with each skill? the rogue pre-gen has some nice high numbers with lvl 1 skills and i want to know how to do it properly so i don;t Overpower him by accident. please help me ^^ |
