Katherson would have waited until they were all gone but from what I saw the trollkin were all about swift vengeance, so he backed your play assuming it was blaze of glory time.

But that many soldiers, "overwhelming" is the word used I believe, attacking is not a great idea.

I have Survivalist, which lets me reroll failed Survival rolls once. That one doesn't look too great, so I'm going to roll again to save time if that is a failure.

"We left a trail but I didn't see anything come in after us last night."

Katherson stomps to one of the watch positions, then takes out his rifle and cleans it, frowning.

Teenage angst! But yeah, for anybody that is wondering I'm playing him as a young kid with fresh responsibilities and a huge case of small man's disease.

Katherson takes his leave and moves through the woods back to the kriel, telling Conrael of the mawg attack.

"It's your face that'll be eaten if there's no scouting done boy, but by all means if you're not strong enough I'll help."

"What could they do that four strapping men couldn't? Best we make haste without alerting any more hunters to our being here. Hopefully they decide to feast on the mawgs while we get home."

Katherson blows the black powder smoke from the air as he stands and cautiously advances to the clearing.

"Should've spotted that flanking group, might have cost us a little one."

I didn't include the penalty as I had assumed the torch bearer going down meant the target wasn't engaged. DMVoV thank you for the wibbly wobbly, appreciated.

Indeed, combat is brutal as I knew it would be. Katherson will need to be a sneaky git, my ARM of 5 isn't going to do me any good if I'm hit. :D

Katherson's grin becomes a grimace as the torch holder is gutted, then takes aim by the guttering light at the gruesomely gory gibbering mawg.

I've seen a 12 miss and a 14 hit, so if that 13 misses I'll spend a Feat to reroll.

Bah, here's hoping the 13 does it.

My intention is to be to the side of the engagement as best I can figure it'll happen.

When the howling starts he crouches before attempting to determine which direction it's coming from.

He'll move to the opposite side of the area from the howling as best he can, then lay down and hide, gun at the ready.

"We take the tracks to the tree and save our kin, then back here to these other prints. Boots going that way, and not more than a few days past."

"Well then that makes us cousins!"

He clasps arms with the kin as he smiles.

"I haven't seen you in a while Eoghann, look at my new rifle! That's right, I can finally go out on hunts with you."

He sits back as last night's poor card player introduces himself.

"Sure, have a seat. Drink all you want, I could use the extra coin. Ammo isn't cheap you know."

A wink to Eoghann.

Don't worry Óengus, I'm sure you'll earn it back.

Large for a pyg, Katherson was nonetheless one of the easily overlooked members of the kriel. His face beamed with pride as he moved through the tables looking for a place to sit. Newly promoted to the scouts, he carried an oiled leather rifle case over his shoulder and there was no mistaking the spring in his step.

This is it, I'm an adult now! This is going to be great! Oh...there's Havar. What a mope. He's no fun. Hmmm...

The young pyg turns towards the smelly outsider, deciding he at least will be interesting. Sliding down across from Eoghann, he motions towards the cloak.

"So...that a cousin of mine you're wearing?"
