Kallum remains ready with his sling, silently cursing the darkness of the night.
Kallum loads up a sling stone, ready to hurl it at any creature that comes close enough to the light.
Assuming that Kallum can't see any of the enemies clear enough to hurl a sling stone at, there's not a lot he can do.
Creatures in the dark, just f#+!ing great... the old rogue thinks to himself as he moves to get himself on the opposite side of the fire from known approaching creatures.
Intent is to put light between myself and the enemy.
I'll use one of my flasks of oil.
Kallum nods and begins gathering kindling and smaller bits so that fires can be started.
Kallum [not Kellum ;)] would be a very poor choice for the "caller". I'm fine with hiding at short range, whether or not he would rush into melee remains to be seen based on how many opponents we have. (Kallum has a whopping 3 HP, so any hit at all is pretty much instant death).
Kallum chimes in. "Fighting at range would've worked if we all would've been smart about it and fired and fell back instead of holding our ground, but too many of our company decided melee combat was the order of the day and died for that decision."
Kallum nods. "Yeah, we can find our way back there without too many problems. The problems will begin when we get there."
"You sure you're good to go, Al'Lan? That was Dobin that was asking for weapons and armor." he says half jokingly.
Turing his attention to the Bailiff he adds, "That being said, I wouldn't mind something a bit more stout than a dagger and sling if you're inclined to be handing weaponry out."
Kallum studies the three newcomers. "Be sure our quarry is dangerous. They already killed two of our partners, I'm more than a little suprised, pleasantly so, that these two made it back" he adds, gesturing to Dobin and Al'lan.
"Say, did either of you two know what happened to the dwarf?"
"Fair enough, assuming you can round up enough other folks to go with me. I didn't get the hell outta there just to walk back and die and give them a bonus of 40 gold for killin' me." Kallum agrees.
Still huffing and puffing from his harrowing journey back to the keep, Kallum nods.
"Dobin is a good fighter, he traveled with Riza - rest her violent little soul - and I a bit before this latest debacle of an expedition. He's a good man. The priest and the dweamorcrafter are dead too. The other one being held is, I assume the elf, Al'Lan. Seemed pleasant enough though, but I don't know him all that well." the old thief says in response to the Bailiff's first question.
"As to why the f!$&ers are so confident...simple enough, there's a lot of 'em. We managed to cut down a few of them before it all went sideways, but even then we would've been outnumbered even at full strength. "
Kallum looks around for a map of the region, finding one he points to the general vicinity of the bandit camp. "At the time being, they're camped right about there..."
Relieved to still be alive, Kallum gets to his feet, still fuming about the previous day's events.
He knows full and well that revenge is what he wants but achieving that without backup is unlikely at best. Deciding acquiring that backup is job one, Kallum begins to try head back toward the Keep.
Got it. Yeah, Kallum would be running.
Kallum continues his fighting withdrawal, hoping to strike a lucky blow and be able to make a run for it.
Dagger: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
This fight keeps going this route, we're all making new characters to join Ralina and Creeg...
F#*! this...didn't get this old by sticking around a losing fight... Kallum thinks to himself as he draws his dagger and begins a fighting withdrawl.
Dagger: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Well that was particularly uninspiring...
Rather than take a risk of hitting one of his companions, Kallum seeks cover to snipe one of the men coming to join the fray once they are within range.
Hoping to continue his successful ways, Kallum loads another stone and hurls it toward d'Reco's opponent.
Sling: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Welcome!
Just looked at the profile...Hi Tareth, good to be in another game with you.
Kallum loads another stone into his sling and takes aim at the archer again.
Sling: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Kallum loads another stone into his sling and pops out from behind his cover again to hurl the stone at the oncoming archer. After the shot, he resumes taking cover behind the tree, trying to position himself out of the archer's line of fire.
Sling: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Kallum pops out from behind his cover, hurling a sling stone in the direction of his closest foe before ducking back behind the cover.
Sling: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Kallum slinks back, looking for more cover from which he can attack, should it come to that.

Kallum whispers to Riz, "We need to get a bit closer so we can make out what they are saying to each other...unless of course you can hear them already."
Kallum shrugs. "As good of an idea as any, albeit risky."
Squinting to try and make out more details about the inhabitants of encampment, Kallum asks the others in a whisper, "Bandits?"
Can I make out anything about the group? Male, female? Any kids?
"Into the stream, eh?" Kallum grumbles. "Guess that confirms the whole lizardman theory."
"Most of us can't see for s!@+ in this dark. I would suggest we just keep our eyes and ears open and keep watch as we planned." Kallum says.
"In the morning we can go take a closer look and see if we can track whoever or whatever the hell that was."
"Several beings with torches...could be the bandits." Kallum says, speculating on the approaching figures.
Kallum nods and goes to start waking up others, starting with Riza. "Wake up, kid. You wanna start bashing kneecaps? I think you're gonna get your chance."
With the others start to come to, Kallum likewise looks for a place he can ambush the interlopers from, drawing his dagger.
"Probably not a bad idea." Kallum says, kicking a bit of dirt onto the fire. "Can't quite tell if they're getting closer or not, but we'd be fools not to keep a closer eye on it. Regardless, it's far enough out we can wait a minute or two before waking the others."
"I'm flexible. Whichever watch works best is the one I'll be on." the old rogue grumbles.
"Higher ground sounds like a fine idea." Kallum says, agreeing with Draven.
The old rogue shrugs at Riza's question.
"Probably not more bears, more likely the not so idiotic that decided they didn't need to be faster than the bear, just faster than some of these other poor bastards." he says, gesturing toward the obvious signs of a fight.
Kallum proceeds to search the outer edge of the clearing looking for tracks of anyone or anything that left the scene.
"Possible, I suppose." Kallum says to Draven's musing. "Although the tracks we were followin' were boots. I've never known lizardmen to wear boots. No matter, I suppose. Let's get out of this f+in' swamp."
If there is still a discernable trail to follow. I would be in favor of continuing SE.
"I know which one I think it was..." Kallum grumbles while shaking his head.
"Hmmph." Kallum lets out with a shrug.
"Well no point in trying to deal with it right this second. We followin' those tracks or not?"
"Southeast." Kallum says, gesturing vaguely at the trail of tracks he had found. "Looks like a half dozen or so..."
"I would assume more bandits are outfitted like me than Dobin." Kallum says to Riza's question while drawing his blade.
Approaching the ruined campsite, he tries to study the scene to determine the number of assailants, where they came from, and more importantly, where they went to.
"Don't really have the coin to pick anything else up if I wanted to. I'm as ready as I'm gonna be." Kallum grumbles.
"Gotta start somewhere." Kallum says with a shrug. "Might as well be there."

" Why would I bash you Kallum,I like you! You shared your bacon with me" "I didn't say I'd be first...you just get a bit into it when you start breakin' kneecaps and better safe than sorry." the old rogue says with a wink.

"The beer...or something stronger...sounds good." Kallum says.
"Agreed. Let's go study our options before deciding what to do. I don't think the bailiff here cares which route we take, and would be happy if we accomplish any of these tasks."
"The priest has the right of it, except maybe the whole opportunities against evil bit...definitely right on the making some coin bit." The older, thin adventurer states.
"The name's Kallum Vorrs. I'm around for when umm...how to put this.. a more delicate touch is required."
Kallum nods. "Never hurts to get a bit more information before taking on any sort of risk. Let's go talk to this bailiff, then we can sit down over a drink or three and study this map."
