"Sounds like a plan," Kalem agrees. "A rebellion is nothing without the support of its people, and we need to grow that support. I'll ask around the Devils Nursery to see how my people are doing. They're starting to get more work, so perhaps they've heard a few things.."
Just to keep you all in the loop, during the no-new-notification incident (where forum games weren't alerting folks to updates), I had a member of my family pass on. As such, I feel it fair to inform you that I updates might take longer than usual (which I know, is plenty long of a wait already) and if you feel the need to drop out of a game I'm DMing or drop me from a game I'm participating in, I understand. That said, I do hope to update within a couple days as I could use the distraction as the usual business of these events tend to warrant. Thank you for your understanding. Life moves on eventually. I just need some time.
Kalem nods in agreement. "Hopefully next week proves more financially helpful. Our coffers won't fill themselves unfortunately."

I did not see that coming, but alright. Congrats to them. Perhaps I'll find someone someday. Kalem puts a hand in front of him, to stay any flying shards from Brask's brash bash of the porcelain glass.
"Communication. Always separates a good team from a dead team." Kalem still has his apprehensions of leaving so quickly, but with Cassius's aid, he feels less nervous. "Think we should cross as a group or separately? Not sure if word of our "grouping" has gone around yet." If unaddressed, Kalem has enough trust to move forward with his team anyway.
Before they disperse, Kalem offers an idea. "Should we have our new guest send a message with a silver raven? If he's expecting the "answer" tonight, then this might assuage any fears of our failure." =======Next Morning======== Kalem stays close to the hideout for most of the day, the presence of their hidden guest weighing on his mind.
"Though to be honest, I feel we should have pushed our luck tonight. From tomorrow onwards, everyone will be on the lookout for the missing man. Searches might increase, and things might get....drastic."
"We made some preparations, deodorant to hide our scent. Costly, but I think it paid off." Kalem answers. He looks to the group. "We need to keep moving. Let's get moving."
As one of the better climbers, Kalem will do his best to help Marquel down.
Kalem, satisfied that his companions were able to scale the wall quickly and silently, turns his attention back to Marquel. "We have met with our mutual friend. He asked us a favor, and here we are." Kalem wasn't built for the art of subtlety, but even he knew the importance of letting the truth fill in for itself.
"Marquel?" Kalem ruffles into his pocket and pulls out the letter. He holds it out for him to accept. "From a friend..."
If its the intended recipient, Kalem will hand over the letter willingly, and wait for him to give a reply to take back.
Kalem nods, signaling he's on the task, and uses Brask get up. He will attempt to scale the wall and secure a holing point to put a rope so the others can scale easier.
Kalem nods in agreement, moves to the front of the group and readies an attack for the first thing to come snapping at them.
Kalem starts to hoist himself up.
Kalem will also purchase a dose as well.
"So, the trip worth it then?" When recieving the news about the Cerebus. "Guard dog, typical. Though, it looks like being fleet of foot would be our best bet of escape after the message has reached hands. Though I'm also concerned how to deliver the message covertly."
Kalem spends his time at the Devil's Nursery, teaching a few classes on laborer ethics and how not to get cheated. As a brawler, he's learned quite a few things about taking a hit and rolling with it, and not all his jobs up the ravens had been pleasantly fair.
Kalem remains close to Brask, not knowing while being an amazing acrobatic had its strengths, he did not have the finesse to pull it off quietly...
Kalem places a hand on Brask's shoulder. "You and me both...but are you sure we should rush into this? Is there nothing to be gained for keeping watch for a couple more nights? Maybe bribing someone for information?"
Kalem nods in approval, but he still has misgivings. The group he now trusted with his life was not....specialized in the ways of stealth. They would have to do much reconnaissance in order to shore up their lack of skill. "Looks like we'll take it, but some information will go a long way to success."
Not knowing anything about the people of nobility, Kalem doesn't even try to scrounge for any bit of gossip he may have heard. "So you want messengers...does the lad in question expect a letter from you? And what you suggest does not present much...apparent difficulty. What's the catch?"
Kalem nods along, doing as he had and relying on Femi's expertise in management to chart their organization on course. "Alright, let's focus on stability for now, but the longer we operate, the more our presence will become known and the more enemies will be at our throats.
Sorry for the lack of updates, my schedule has me out of the house (and away from my source books) largely from 8:30am - 11:30pm. Goes on for another couple weeks, but should be able to sneak in an update here or there in the meantime.
Kalem, feeling much better than the day before, nods in agreement with the current sentiment in the room. "I would warn against moving them immediately. While it's important to get them out, moving them so soon after we freed them, we might be moving during the high point of scrutiny in the area..."
Kalem drags himself to the chair, and tries to eat. He makes a pained expression, phantom pains of being almost completely sliced open not even a few hours ago. "What Brask said, but right now, rest." He does help himself to the alcohol, hoping the fog over his mind will help him sleep more deeply. "Thank you for your hospitality," he says, heading up as well.
Kalem sighs and steeps to speak quietly. "Octavio's mother would be very unhappy to see the comrades of her son arrested a second time." He bobs his head in the direction of the mithral sword, alluding to the fact that it once belonged to Octavio's mother. "Also, I got cut open today and really feel like taking a nap. Can we get moving?"
"We should make tracks, and fast. Everyone ready?" Kalem doesn't think that the guards will let em pass if they seem unharmed, so he does his best to scoop up the blood from his closed gashes and make it look like they had a tussle. "So, we either tell them she took some chunks from me in exchange, or that the sadistic she beat attacked and we had to defend ourselves?"
Kalem pushes himself so he's sitting up on the floor. "You know, waking up to find you guys have solved the problem isn't the worst, but I'm going to be working off these aches for a long while." Kalem pulls off the silver blade and holds it out to Elias. "Just realized with my new gauntlets I don't have much need of silver when I got my own. And with my addiction to falling unconscious, while bleeding...."
If I live that long.
I'm taking toughness next time i get a feat.

Kalem was beginning to see a pattern to how his fights went. He charged in, he took a huge blow, he limped away or fell unconscious. Perhaps the next fight he would change his opening move. But for now, since none of his alchemical armaments would most likely be useful in this close range fight and with large gaping wounds it would be unwise and try to grapple the creature, Kalem switches tactics. His survival instincts kick in and every ounce of brin power is thinking of what he could do, anything he could do, to gain the upper hand.
He cups the blood spilling from hi gashes and throws it at the Kyton, trying to temporarily blind it.
"We need to make this quick and quiet," Kalem reminded as takes up a fighting stance. Wanting to make this quick and clean, Kalem winds up for Knockout Punch hoping that if this blade woman could be koncked out, he'd be able to do it.
He finishes his turn by recalling Improved Grapple with Martial Flexibility.
Kalem nods, but secretly tightens his grip in his gauntlets.
Kalem is letting out a string of curses in his head. Though his comrades have asked already, he doesn't say much but goes over to inspect the two prisoners still here.
Kalem is a bit off-put at the woman's advances and coughs lightly into his fist. "Just wanna get the work done Miss. I don't really give a damn about who's doing what as long as I got coin for drink and meat." He mumbles.
Kalem remains silent, knowing that his tongue is more of a rusty bronze rather than silver lies that needed right now. He tries to carry himself as the silent muscle, doing anything for a bit of coin, even if it means working for the Dottari.
"I didn't think of that. And even with uniforms I'd feel better if we went fully disguised anyway, in case we run into anyone we've had a "disagreement" with already."
"Good job on lowering the price Elias. I don't think our budget could have taken a 1000 gp hit." Kalem looks down at the papers being compared, not really being able to tell the two apart. Why couldn't finances be solved with a clever combat maneuver like most problems?
Apologies, will try to be better about that.
"Or perhaps there's a favor we could perform." Kalem suggests, hoping to use effort to put the scales on a more reasonable balance.
Kalem brings out the message and the bouquet for the others to read and examine. "It looks like we have more allies than we thought."
Sorry Zhea...spaced out there for a second. Perhaps the stress of it all is finally showing." Kalem leans back in his chair, and covers his face with one hand, taking a moment to collect his thoughts. He'd gotten enough rest sure, but running a rebellion with the secrecy and risks takes a toll on you. "Okay," Kalem announces, bringing himself forward, ready to continue. "If we have a couple days for Femi to gather info, I'd like to help out at the Nursery."
"I think Zhea may know someone. She's offering to bring him in some time today (which I assume is the tomorrow)". Upon hearing Femi's idea, Kalem has an additional thought, though he doesn't like it. "The Devil Nursery is always strapped for cash....we could hire the literate ones to reproduce the works for us, allowing some funds to go their benefit. But if they were caught...." Kalem shakes his head. "No, nevermind. I'd rather not take that risk."
"You know, I wonder if there's anyone at the Devil's Nursery who might have the skills or connecitons we need. I'm gonna pen a letter and see if they're up to it." Before he goes to do that, he also mentions. "If its not too much to ask, could I use that sword? I've been learning to fight with weapons again, and something that can cut through demons sounds like an asset."
Kalem thinks on the information. "Perhaps it might be best to dedicate some of our resources to finding these loopholes. Actually, that book creature we fought a while ago would have been very useful here." "Perhaps the man we rescued could provide us with some of this information? If he was held with the other prisoners, he should have some idea of the situation in there."
