Brask leaves the silver sword embedded in the Kyton's heart for the moment, just to be sure. He'll scramble to help his allies, unsure if he's got the skill to save their lives.

"Elias! Can you help Kalem?" he exclaims. "I'll help Femi here."

He takes Femi's potion of Cure light wounds and pours it down the unconscious man's throat. Based on his inventory, this might change if that's no longer there.

Muttering a series of particularly vile imprecations as he inspects the worst of Kalem's wounds, Elias touches the Tiefling's abused flesh, and the healing power of Calistria sinks into him.

Cure Light Wounds on Kalem: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Without waiting to observe the results, Elias draws a wand from it's sheath and turns to cast another heal on Femi, before finally touching it to the tortured prisoner. "Brask, Myradil, make sure that door stays shut until we are all fully healed. We don't know how, or if, they will react to the death of this fiend."

Cure Light Wounds on Femi: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Cure Light Wounds on the Prisoner: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Unless we are interrupted by guards, I'll take the time to heal every member of our group to full, including the one we came to rescue. Assuming that's the case, it will take the following rolls, plus a few more depending on how low the prisoner was.

For Femi

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

The process takes MINIMUM of 2 minutes and seventeen charges from the wand, plus however many our new guest soaks up. So many that the first wand runs dry and Elias has to draw his backup.

"Now that we are in it up to our necks, do we attempt to free the rest of the unfortunates that were under that vile thing's care?

"Thank you Brask, Elias. That was rough." Femi gets to his feet, brushes off his clothes, and collects his staff.

"It is good this thing is dead, but now we must make haste. I suspect they'll not disturb us for fear of they kyton, but let's be quick."

He turns to Elias, "I don't think we can free any but those we have on our writ. Not without raising suspicion and maybe getting them to ask permission of this thing." he kicks the kyton with his boot.

"We must take only those we came to find, but know in our hearts that the remainder will be better off than they were a moment ago." he's pleased by what they did.

Casting Detect Magic, he quickly searches the body and the room for anything of value while Elias heals the others.

"Just realized with my new gauntlets I don't have much need of silver when I got my own. And with my addiction to falling unconscious, while bleeding...."

As the Ravens rise up from the floor and inspect their surroundings, Femi finds, in the corner a fair pile of loot. Seemingly prizes taken from previous subjects of the torturer.

Roughly four hundred gold worth of coins, a masterwork light mace, and two scrolls haste, nondetection.

CLW on Hortense: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 1 charge

After one charge from Elias' healing wand, Hortense eyes shoot awake and she begins fighting against her bindings until she sees that it's not the usual company.

"Gods, who the hell are you? Was Ghenemahl not rough enough? Needed more of you bloody Thrunes to strip my skin! Do your worst!"

Despite the defiant words, the young woman sounds exhausted and near the breaking point.

Elias continues to pour healing energy into Hortense as he talks, until she is as healthy as the magic can make her, before cutting her free. Then he loops one end of rope around her wrists loosely enough that she could easily use her hands if need be.

Hortense narrows her eyes as Elias reveals his allegiance but she looks around the room and sees the results of the fight.

"THis better not be some f%$$ing game the Thrunes are playing. You killed the b*@~&, so I'll play nice for now."

Exiting the room, the group sees the guard who pointed out the torture chamber on the other end of the room. As you exit and close the door, he walks forward cautiously with his keys.

"Don't tell me what happened, I don't want to know, neither do the rest of the guards, I already gave them a heads up. I doubt even Sabo was willing to enter that cursed room." He says, eyeing the bloodstains and bruises that were not there before. He looks over Hortense as well, and you catch a glimpse of pity in his eyes, for just a moment. Taking out his keys he unlocks the gates for the cells containing Ilsani, and Kasston. The two men look similar to Forvian's crew after the Saltworks incident, and they eye your party warily. When told that they're being transferred they glare but say nothing.

THe guard provides you with keys to the manacles and ropes the prisoners together, after replacing Hortenses rope with a set as well, he looks at the party. "Not so good at knots, yeah? She'd have run off before you could blink." He smiles wryly.

The guard escorts you back to the front of the building where the two guardsman still play cards to pass the time.

"Boys better get a move on. Curfews not so long from now, and no one is excepted from the law here in Kintargo. No one." It's mostly a half-hearted threat but the other guards nod in agreement.

Once outside and a little away from the building, Kasston, a dark skinned man with a thick mane of hair matted to his face starts pulling on the rope. He digs his feet into the ground and stares defiantly at the party.

"Where the hell did you get that sword?" He says, pointing to the silver blade Kalem gave to Elias. Hortense and Ilsani look where he's pointing and their eyes widen in alarm.

Kalem sighs and steeps to speak quietly.

"Octavio's mother would be very unhappy to see the comrades of her son arrested a second time."

"Also, I got cut open today and really feel like taking a nap. Can we get moving?"

At Kalems words the three seem to relax considerably.

"Damn, you might actually be the Silver Ravens!" Hortense says quietly, but the shock in her voice is evident. The other two armigers looks at her, eyebrows raised.

"Well I'll be damned. I knew Octavio would figure something out. Certainly didn't expect a bunch of outlaws though." Ilsani says through his bushy greying beard.

"We're outlaws too old man, but, alright, yes we'll get a move on. Where are we going though? I hope it's not far." Kasston says as he eyes the dimming skyline, silently repeating what the guards said about curfew.

The trip back to the Longroad Coffee House is not a short one, and before the Ravens even reach the bridge, the sun has set and the streets are all but empty. The party can hear the dottari beginning to march in the streets.

"Do you really think we'll be able to cross the bridge without notice?" Ilsani asks in a hushed tone as you just narrowly miss a patrol.

His words are not without merit, the closer you get to the river separating the two sides of Kintargo, the more obvious it will be that a large group is out passed curfew.

"Shhh." Hortense hisses at the older man. "I'm sure if they had somewhere in Old Kintargo, we'd have gone there."

The path to the Tooth and Nail is fraught with danger, but the Raven officers are smart, and don't take unnecessary risks. As they near the pub the party is almost discovered, but Femi's wand offers them a reprieve and soon after they make it to the Tooth and Nail.

A few knocks on the door bring a familiar but cautious face to the window. Recognizing most of you, Setrona motions for you to go around back.

She meets you behind the pub and holds a finger to her lips as she ushers all of you into the kitchen and towards the stairs to the basement. You can hear very little coming from the main room, but there's quite a bit of muted conversation going on.

Once in the basement, Setrona, still occasionally looking up the steps whispers to you.

"Mostly Dottari in here right not, happens a couple nights a week. Try to make yourselves comfortable. I'll get you when they leave."

With that she turns back and heads up the stairs whispering something to one of her cooks.

It's a tense hour or so, in the pub cellar. Every footfall above seems like it must be headed toward the basement. The armigers try to make the best of it. Kasston paces back and forth, Hortense lays on the ground and inspects the hand with her missing finger, Ilsani crouches low as near the stairs as he dares and tries to listen for anything that suggests deceit or discovery.

Finally there seems to be some sort of mass exodus and Setrona appears again, so silently she almost seems to come from nowhere.

"Talk about bad timing! Come on boys, we've got beds upstairs. The dottari are gone for now."

Leading you up to the available rooms, Setrona herds you all in to the largest one she had and closes the door behind her. Already set up on the table in the center are a number of food plates and drinks.

"Are you three Octavio's men?" She says, looking mostly at Ilsani who nods quietly, scowling. She turns to the Ravens. "Did you really do it? You really rescued them!? I knew I was right to come find you! What's next? You should probably let Octavio know you succeded."

Femi frets the whole while the Dottari are above. He's not worried about being discovered himself so much as he's worried about exposing their host. He doesn't breath easy until Setrona returns and gives the all clear.

"You're too kind. Thank you for this." he almost whispers, still worried about being overheard.

Before heading upstairs, he suggests, "We should still set a watch, in case the Dottari return." once watch is decided, unless he's got first watch, he settles into bed and sleeps deeply.

"Don't you worry about that. I've got a few of my employees staying here overnight too. They can keep an eye out. We're all on your side. Now, you all get some rest." Setrona says to all of you before leaving and closing the door behind her so there can't be any arguing about it.

With or without a watch, the rest of the night remains uneventful. When the Ravens wake up they find all three armigers still deeply asleep. It's likely the first real rest any of them have had in a while and they seem to be enjoying it.

Setrona greets you all with a smile whenever you make your way downstairs. "I sent word to Benjen, that young man you saved from doghousing. Figured he'd want to know he had some friends in town now. Waiting for the armigers to get up, the Ravens inform them of their plans to visit the shrine and all three agree.

"Makes sense that's where he is. Thankfully it wasn't common knowledge or Thrune would have considered it too." Kasston nods. Setrona provides them all with clean clothes, donations from people sympathetic to the Ravens cause, at the party makes their way out of the city for the second time this week.

The trip is much faster now that you all know what you're looking for, and the old couple within greet you like old friends, inspecting each of the Hellknights to make sure they're okay. When you enter the lower room, the armigers breathe on the statue and the rope golem opens the gate.

Octavio is speechless at first. The four Hellknights greet each other like long lost family, and chatter for a bit about the escape, their capture and similar stories. The Ravens are mostly ignored at first, but once the joy of reunion has worn off some, they all turn to the group with respect.

"Here, help me pack my things." Octavio says with a smile. "Now that I know it's only my own life I'll be risky with open rebellion, I don't need to stay holed up in here anymore."

The three prisoners smile broadly, Hortense even slaps him on the back. "Yes! Once Benjen is healthy again, we'll be a real force, won't we?"

Octavio smiles back and even laughs, this is not the tense man you met just days ago. He walks over to your group and extends an arm to each of you, clasping your forearm to his if you offer one in return.

"Consider me signed on to your little rebellion. For the mean time, I think my men and I will head to my cousins establishment. If I remember the Coffeehouse, it doesn't leave much room for large scale gatherings." He frowns a moment and thinks. "But, I might actually have a suggestion on that front. Give me a couple days to settle in to Kintargo and I'll let you know what I have in mind, yes?"

The armigers ask that you leave without them, while they help Octavio pack. Their confident that they'll be able to enter the city again themselves.

"Only reason we got caught is because we didn't know we were on the run!" Ilsani grumbles. Octavio assures you that they'll be alright and sees you out, eager to catch up with his Hell Knights.

For once, the Ravens have a fairly uneventful day, and they arrive back home in time to receive the weekly reports from their teams.

"The open attack on the excruciation had some negative effects." Liara says with a frown. "Had a lot of people trying to wash their hands of us, thought we were being to rash too early. I talked most of them back though, got a couple others recruited too, we haven't really grown too much though."

"Rexus did manage to find a few crafty street urchins though. They've chosen to remains nameless if you don't mind, for now anyway. Offered to hide anything you'd like around the city, they just want to deal with Rexus instead of all of you. Rex wanted to make sure that was okay with you boys first. Sure he'd like to ask himself but he's out at the moment."

"Forvian's men did really well actually. Thrune has been imprisoning petty criminals, pick pockets, food thieves, you know the kind. Planning to rebuild his doghousing platform to better resist attack apparently. The saw the dottari picking on a young girl who was lifting purses, dragged her away in chains. Until the Black Feathers caught them by surprise and set the girl free. Even gave her a little gold because, well you know Forvian, he's a bit of a softy."

She smiles at the good news and brings out a tray of food for you while you decide what to do next with your growing rebellion.

Congrats Ravens, you have received a new ally and a new bonus team!
Lictor Octavio Sabinus: The Hellknight’s advice to the Silver Ravens grants a +4 bonus on all Security checks to take the Rescue Character rebellion action. In addition, as long as Octavio remains an ally of the Silver Ravens, his presence and leadership bolster the rebellion’s morale— the rebellion is immune to the Low Morale event as long as the lictor remains allied with them.
Torrent Armigers: function as a group of infiltrators, and thus grant the Reduce Danger and Rescue Character rebellion actions. When used to take a Rescue Character action, the armigers can rescue up to four characters at once from a single location. A failed Rescue Character attempt by the armigers does not increase the Silver Ravens’ Notoriety score.

Decide on the next rebellion phase and then we'll move forward.

”Thank Rexus for acting as a go-between. We need to grow so we can accomplish even more. We also need another safe house, and I think one way to do that is improve our sneaks a bit, give them some legs. And of course, we’ll always need gold to grease the wheels, so let’s keep the Fushi sisters in the streets gathering what they can.”

”It feels a little like we’re doing too much too fast and need to build our infrastructure a little more perhaps. It’s almost like we’re strapped to a galloping horse, and we need to walk it a bit before we become overextended. I dunno.”

He turns to the group, ”What do you think?”

Here’s what I suggest for this week but, as always, happy to change it up if folks want to do something different.
- Recruit Supporters (no team required)
- Upgrade Team (sneaks -> thieves)
- Earn Gold (Fushi Sisters)

I'll back Femi's plan of action. I'm looking forward to seeing what Octavio has in mind when he gets settled in though. If it isn't a better HQ, I think that will need to go to the top of the list.

"The galloping horse metaphor is apt, in more ways than one. Remember, Euphemia, we are being chased. We move quickly because to do otherwise would mean getting run down. But...as to infrastructure, I agree. We cannot run the horse to death if we are to win this race. I Hope Octavio has a good plan for a secure headquarters for us. We cannot continue to abuse the coffee shop for much longer."

I'll update my spell list later tonight, but I think I'm gonna shift to a more offensively viable build. Actual infernals wandering around town has me worried.

Liara nods when given the orders for your men. "I'll have your teams working on it. In the mean time, you have a visitor. Waiting for you in the common room. She asked for the Silver Ravens, but I wasn't about to let her down her into the Wasp's Nest. She's wearing a naval uniform for crying out loud!" Liara shuffles awkwardly, clearly worried.

"She doesn't seem like she's looking for a fight, but...well you never know, right? You'd better go meet with her quick."

Heading up through the secret door, you make your way quietly into dining area, having long since discovered how best to do it unnoticed, most of the regulars don't even see you slip in.

It's not heard to find the Chelish sailor among the diners, he uniform stands out with its blood reds and silver, but you all relax a little when you realize it's Lieutenant Elia, who you met on your visit to Captain Sargaeta when trying to secure an alliance with him.

She waves you over to her table and nods respectfully at you when you've all been seated. "The Captain keeps his ears to the ground and recently celebrated this rumored rescue of wrongfully detained Hellknights." She allows herself a rare smile. "It seems he's also in need of some help from those very same heros."

"It is nothing I can mention here, but if you are willing and capable to assist him, please, return to the docks where we first met, and the Captain can discuss the details."

The Map of Kintargo with a few relevant locations has been added to the list of links at the top of the campaign. This map, and all of it's locations, including the ones I did not mark, are listed in the Players Guide for this Campaign for future reference, though I will endeavour to keep it updated with relevant locations as they open up.

Elias silently plots his own activities for the coming week, specifically finding the names of those that guarded the doghouse and... dealing with them. Some quiet, careful information gathering at the taphouses around the doghouse, carefully spreading some silver around, should be just the thing. Once He has the names, he can find where they sleep. Once he knows where they sleep, he can plan how and when to end them.

I'd like to make some Gather Information checks this week to find those guards, if possible. Between Guidance, Eagle's Splendor, Tap Inner Beauty, and Cultural Adaptation spells, I'll have a +10 on the check, and I'll happily spend Bit of Luck for rerolls.

Femi greets the naval officer warmly, ”Of course, I’m sure we would be quite willing to meet with your captain. Thank you for carrying his message.” he smiles happy that things seem to be coming together.

When she has left, he turns to the others, ”We should go quickly, perhaps first thing tomorrow if everyone is agreeable. Does anyone need help with any pet projects this week? I’ve no cash to write scrolls, so I’m happy to help someone else with their work.”

”After we meet with the captain of course. Who’s with me?”

"Excellent, I'll let him know to expect you!" Elia smiles again. "Enjoy the rest of you day gentlemen, we look forward to working with you." She leaves coin enough for her meal and a generous tip on the table and leaves the way she came.

Laria eventually asks what she was looking for and disapproves of your meeting in a Chelish battleship until you mention that you've already visited once before. "Oh, alright then, I suppose you boys know how to handle yourselves by now!"

As she says this you hear a crashing of plates in the kitchen somewhere and Laria frowns and goes rushing off. "That damned faerie dragon! Or maybe it was the demon this time." She mutters as she rushes off. The regulars in the room all give knowing smiles to one another, this being a regular occurrence these days.

With nothing pressing, most of the Ravens spend their day laying low, keeping out of sight of the patrols that have strengthened in the city since their jailbreak. The fact that a bunch of Torrent Helknights were rescued doesn't seem to be common knowledge at first, but as the Kintargan rumor mill turns, the information spreads like wildfire. By the end of the day people are whispering about how the Ravens arrived in shining armor that smote any guardsman who didn't immediately turn and run.

Elias on the other hand looks for revenge, seeking out the agents that guard the doghouses. The names of the guards are not easy to find, since they are just members of the Dottari, assigned to the duty as simply as they are assigned patrols or any other job the city guard are expected to fulfill. The names of the excruciators however comes easily, few people are depraved enough to be granted the honorable position of crafting new and drawn out tortures for the Thrunes. However all of them came to the city with Mayor Barzillai and they take rest in the Opera House along with the bulk of the mayors armed forces.

By the time the sun rises the next day, Elias has his information, and the rest of the Ravens have had something of a day off. They start the trek towards the docks, giving the holding house a wide berth as they do, lest they be recognized.

The Scourge of Belial is moored just off the docks like before, this time there is a small crew of the Captains men waiting for the Ravens to take them over. Once aboard Captain Sargaeta greets them like old friends and welcomes them back into the rooms to discuss his need of them.

"My friends, you are most productive, yes?" He smiles broadly. "A daring rescue mission right under Thrunes nose! Wonderful!"

As he waits for you each to sit, his halfling slaves continue to work around you, the chef brings you each a plate of eggs and sausage with something to wash it down while the captain takes a seat at his desk and seems to lose some of his earlier enthusiasm.

"Thrune’s proclamations have, shall I say, impacted my interests in the city. I cannot venture onto land to take care of... well, let’s call it a ‘personal matter.’ I could send my crew to attend this, but I would much prefer sending someone with whom I have plausible deniability, should they fail in their task. Would you be interested in providing me with aid? I daresay that people in your position could stand to benefit from having a captain in the Chelish navy owe you a few favors, hmmm?”

"I need a letter escorted to my friend Marquel Aulorian in the greens, hand delivered and preferably without any interference from the grasping little prig he calls his father."

Knowledge Nobility DC 10:
You recognize the Aulorian name, they are a family that has made their name through the salt and silver trades.

Knowledge Nobility DC15:
You also know that the Aulorians have long supported Kintargo, but with Barzillai Thrune’s arrival, the family patriarch Auxis has grown increasingly supportive of Thrune, abandoning his family’s more traditional Kintargan values.

The Captain sits anxiously, waiting for any questions or concerns you may have about his proposed mission.

Femi, not really clear on what he intends, agrees readily. ”Of course, anything I can do to help. I’m not a very religious man myself, but I respect the gods, and the power they bestow. Sacraments are nothing to be trifled with!” he grins.

Knowledge Nobility: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Femi munches on his breakfast and thinks a moment about what he knows of the Aurorean family.

"His father is quite the Thrune supporter. You hope to have better relations with this Marquel Aurorean? The task seems simple enough, wait for a time when the son is without the father. But as you say, you want plausible deniability, so I must ask, what exactly are we carrying to him?"

He wipes his mouth and sips some coffee, "I don't mean to read your personal correspondence of course, but I would know, roughly, what it contains to be so secretive."

Not knowing anything about the people of nobility, Kalem doesn't even try to scrounge for any bit of gossip he may have heard.

"So you want messengers...does the lad in question expect a letter from you? And what you suggest does not present much...apparent difficulty. What's the catch?"

Maps: Segang Expedition

"Not much difficulty the Tiefling says!" The Captain laughs enthusiastically. "Well, I didn't realize your kind were welcome in the Greens with open arms. The nobility have changed quite a bit since I've been stuck on this ship!" He smiles at Kalem to show he's just teasing before he elaborates on both his and Femi's questions.

"Marquel and I are...good friends, and much of my time in Kintargo over the years has been spent with him. I know he disproves of his fathers actions, and I worry that he is in trouble. My letter is of a personal and private nature, one I wish to remain between me and Marquel, but it contains a question that I very much need the answer to. I would have you deliver me this answer directly from him, so I know it is not forged."

"The only catch is that you must go at night. You would be too obvious during the day, none of you are nobility, anyone can see that. I have a map of the estate, should you agree and perhaps some more information besides, but first I need to know if you are willing."

Well here it is, my Hell's Rebels Discussion thread!

At the moment there are three of you, I still have one unanswered PM that may turn into a player, but there's no reason not to move ahead and get those of you who have accepted into your PC's and prepped for the adventure ahead. Once you three are prepared I will open a recruitment thread to fill out our roster.

What I expect:

~ 1 Post a Day at Minimum: I can accommodate more posts than that, and we will likely be picking up pace after a little while but one of our players has requested a slower pace for now.

~ Read every post. Things will be missed, misinterpreted or accidentally skipped over, that's just human nature, but I expect that everyone is here to play for a good story and a good time and paying attention to your fellow party members is a pivotal part of roleplaying both at the table and in PbP. So please, read everything.

~ Voice your opinions. I am GM, not a dictator. Sometimes I may make rulings you disagree with, let me know. Sometimes I may make a mistake, let me know. This is a collaborative effort and we all want to have fun, part of that is crafting a gaming environment we can all agree on, I prefer my players to be proactive in this regard.

~ Read the Hell's Rebels Player's Guide. There are of course, other supplements you can read to craft your PC, and they may add flavor, but that is not necessary, the players guide should provide significant information for this AP.

~ Have fun! That's why we're here, if at any point you feel there is something that you do not enjoy, let me know. I am a flexible person and will do what I can to accommodate the needs of the group.

I am a fairly relaxed GM. I prefer a good story over rigid mechanics and I encourage my players to get creative with their solutions. I'm open to interesting/fun/unusual suggestions. Don't ever be afraid to suggest something.

I have little experience with PbP GMing, though I've jumped into those waters recently, but I have a lot of experience as a table GM and all the improvisational skills that come with it. Test me, please! A little side tracking never hurt anyone and often provides fun stories to look back on.

Character Creation Guidelines:
~ 20 Pt Buy

~ Max HP 1st Level, Average +1 every subsequent level

~ Background Skills

~ 2 Traits - 1 must be from the Hell's Rebels Player's Guide, though you may re-flavor the text with my approval. A single drawback may be taken with approval from me first.
Important: Traits and Drawbacks are more than just a power boost, they represent a facet of your PC's personality. I expect all traits to be a part of who your PC is as a person, not just more numbers for your character sheet.

~ Alignment: Any non-evil.

~ Races: Core races are all available. The Player's Guide also suggests a number of other races, of these I will also accept Tieflings and Tengu (though you would really need to sell me on the Tengu).

~ Classes/Source Books: As this is (for the next few days anyway) the most recent AP, I see no reason to limit the selection all that much. Anything Paizo up to and including Occult Classes will be considered though I reserve the right to veto anything that looks like it may cause trouble. In that event you will be given an opportunity to convince me otherwise.

~ Starting Wealth: 150gp

When making your PC, please focus on personality, background, fluff, etc., before your crunch. I don't much care what your are in relation to Pathfinder as long as I know who you are in relation to Kintargo and the fight for it's freedom.

So, check in, say hi, and then take some time to craft who you are for this AP. If you'd like to collaborate, include each other in your histories, bounce ideas off each other, or role play to get a feel for your PC, this is the place for it. The timeline I'm looking at right now is to give you a week (if you need it) to finalize your character sheets. Once you're all done I will make an open recruitment thread for the remaining spots on the roster (currently 2). From there I will take your input (through PM's) and we will hopefully start, officially, no later than March 5th.

I am excited to dive back into PbP. It's a pleasure to make all of your acquaintances and I hope we make a memorable journey with one another.
I will be working on a PC asap.

"Greetings all! I am Femi and I am at your humble service. Long has the yoke of oppression held your people back from their potential! Let us break that yoke and free the people - now - the time is right!!"

Euphemia 'Femi' Ferka is bald, carefully shaved on a regular basis so as to show off his very fine tattoo. The tattoo is of a stylized pseudodragon whose tail is coiled around his neck, stylistically ‘clinging’ to the back of his head, and just peering out over the top (barely visible from the front over the top of the head) as the tiny dragon looks out onto the world. The tattoo is lightly colored in greens and blues and is very beautiful, if you’re into that sort of thing.

From there, the gaunt man is dressed in several layers of homespun cotton, also brightly dyed, and a light silk scarf - a gift from one of his lady friends back home as a remembrance. He has several scarves, but only sports one at a time.

He wears heavy well worn boots. He has a large sling bag over his shoulder and chest with a variety of clanking objects within. A light crossbow hangs at his waist along with a dagger that sees more use in dinner than in combat.

- - -

Femi is very outgoing and friendly, though not as charismatic as some. In his off time, he's usually found reading a book on history, or a book on spells - both hold equal interest to him just now.

- - -

I look forward to gaming with you all. GM Xynen, I do have a drawback, which I'm sincerely hoping to play. I think I'm otherwise ready for your approval - though I do need to research and apply the background skills. From what little I've read, I love 'em. :D

Labyrinth HP 47/47; AC 15/14/11; Saves 4/5/7; Init +3; Perc +10; Sense Motive +2

My character is ready for you review DM Xynen - I think. Please let me know if I can help in any way or if there’s anything I need to change/edit/explain. I changed up my skills and tweaked my background a little as well from the last time you examined it, but nothing major.

One rules question. Femi casts Magic Missile (link) with the Toppling Spell (link) feat. It’s one of the cornerstones of his combat abilities - at least for the early levels.

My question is, do I get a free trip with each target, or only the first target. I know I don’t get a trip attack with each missile (so if two missiles hit one target, I only get one trip roll), but it can be ruled either way after that. I think, and the boards seem to agree, that I get a trip attack with each target. So if I have two missiles, I can hit one target twice (one trip check) or two targets once (two trip checks).

I’ve tried this combo in two campaigns, both of which folded on me so I have yet to see it ‘in the field’. I had DMs rule both ways, and neither matters much to me - I just need a ruling.

Femi looks good to me, looks like he'll be a fun character to have around, I like the background skills you've chosen, I'll make sure to include opportunities for you to put that expertise to use. I'm okay with your drawback as well, it's very situational so it's not disruptive and I trust that you will incorporate it if/when you fail a diplomacy check.

I'm going to rule that you get 1 trip attempt per target, it seems pretty supported by text and it makes sense mechanically.

The Asmodeans should have known better. One can expect the worshippers of Abadar to forget the passions that drive people from time to time, but the Asmodeans, they know the darkest places of the hearts of mortals intimately.

They had to know that the followers of Calistria would make them suffer for their arrogance.

Eliastraza has felt, from the moment his faith became a crime, a rising tide of fury in his blood. His goddess goads him in her aspect of vengeance, and it will not be denied.

_____________________

Elias, as his friends know him is an intense, dour man, more at home with his beloved harp thank he is debating his incredibly personal religious beliefs with others. This is probably why he is one of the few Calistria worshippers he knows of who escaped the initial purges.

Now he spends his evenings practicing his music, and keeping an ear out for likely souls who might favor a change of management in the Silver City. He dresses well, rents a sizable loft from a grandmotherly widow in Jarvis End, and doesn't seem to drink anything but water or, oddly, dwarven stout.

Most of the people who perform with him at the Opera House, and other smaller venues, know him as a skilled Bard. Rumors of a duel in the harbor indicate he may also be a fair swordsman.

Ok, I've got a couple PM's sent out to our to PC's currently under construction.

I'd also like to add that there is a discrepancy with the player's guide. The guide makes it seem as though the Silver Raven's just recently disappeared, but that's a mistake recognized by the developers. Your characters would, for the most part only have an inkling of the who the ravens were.

CN Male Elven Hidden Priest 4 | HP 25/25 | AC 18 (11 Touch, 17 Flat-Footed) | CMB +5, CMD 15 | Fort. +4, Ref. +2, Will +6 | Init. +1 | Speed 20ft | Bit of Luck: 5/5 Channel Energy: 6/6 | Active conditions:

Friends and Allies

Despite his generally reserved nature, Elias does maintain a number of friendships in the city. Some of these began as professional, such as his friendly rivalry with Maximillian Stauf, one of the truly talented harpists who played at the Opera House with Elias before it's recent sequestering. Elias fears that Max is going to do something rather foolish, and soon, as he spends many of his evenings getting drunk in pubs around town and grumbling, loudly, about how the city is going to hell in a handbasket. Elias agrees with the sentiment, but getting thrown into prison as an agitator is no way to fix things.

Other relationships might seem less expected, to an outsider, like that with Georfin Stonebrow. In a city that constantly changes moods and fashions, the longer lived races occasionally feel like islands in a storm. It was about this feeling that Elias bonded with Mister Stonebrow. Georfin is one of the barkeeps at the Tooth and Nail, and just knowing that his friend and favorite pub remain unchanging through the years provides Elias with no small sense of solace. The pair have a quiet habit of becoming roaringly drunk over cards once a month in a Tooth and Nail backroom, but who knows if the new curfew will forstall this month's appointment?

Some are even tied to Elias through the dangerous bonds of religion. Worship of Calistria has been outlawed in Kintargo for a long time, but the goddess has ever been one to flout the rules. Emberly Shalay has always embodied that devil-may-care attitude. She has, as her mother did before her, quietly gathered a worship group and still holds regular meetings. Elias loves her for this, but also fears what will become of her should she be found out. The girl may be an adult for a human, but Elias still sees her as the little kid hiding behind mother's dress. The elf refuses to meet with the group regularly, but does stop by on occasion to lead a quiet service.

Thank you Femi, I'll take a look at it in a little while.

I'm still having some issues with my Internet connection but I've gotten a reliable alternative so I'll have the recruitment post up sometime tomorrow, probably afternoon EST. You three are encouraged to roleplay in the recruitment thread. It's a good way to get a feel for how prospective party members will fit into the group dynamic and it let's you find a little bit of your PC voice before we get to the meat of everything. With luck we'll have our new party members within the week and we can get started shortly after.

I'll have the link posted here once it's all set up.

Recruitment thread.

Thought I posted this before I left but it seems I failed to hit submit. I'd like you all to give me any input you have as we get submissions, let me know who you find interesting or what you think of proposed concepts.

GM Xynen, I have a rules question.

If I want to 'sneak' a casting of a spell so no one notices, what do you want me to do? I presume a Bluff check against Perception or Sense Motive, but I don't seem to be able to find a rule.

Let me know as I might be doing that from time to time. :)

Maps: Segang Expedition

That one is a bit tricky, especially because there was a recent ruling by a developer that all spell casting creates some form of obvious manifestation.

I'm going to think on it a bit more and see how I feel about that and I'll let you know. Something to consider is that if I do allow a Bluff check for sneaky spell casting, it will most certainly be used against you at some point as well! :)

Labyrinth HP 47/47; AC 15/14/11; Saves 4/5/7; Init +3; Perc +10; Sense Motive +2

Of course. Fair's fair. :)

And if you rule that spell casting cannot be hidden at all, I'm fine with that too. I didn't know about the developer ruling.

Ok, here's what I'm thinking Femi.

Casting a spell stealthily means managing to hide the magical manifestation made by casting, learning to mumble your casting or keep your motions tight is mechanical but actually controlling the magical manifestation to be subtle or imperceptible is more of a technical ability.

So I'm thinking maybe a spell craft check, DC is 10+CL(caster level)+SL (spell level).

So cantrips should be generally simple to mask, and more powerful spells take more effort, similarly as you grow in magical power you need to learn to maintain your own strength.

I like this because it won't always be easy, so it doesn't marginalize feats made to make casting simpler or faster. Let me know what you think.

Mykhail and Elias I'd like to see you guys drop by the recruitment thread, maybe spice up the roleplay a bit, i was hoping for a little more interaction. We still have a number of days left of recruitment but feel free to provide any opinions you have on the current applicants.

Labyrinth HP 47/47; AC 15/14/11; Saves 4/5/7; Init +3; Perc +10; Sense Motive +2

Spellcraft is totally fine, thanks! I doubt it's something I'll do a lot, but good to know there's a way in a jam. ;)

Yeah, role play is thin with this group. Just need to get them into a groove I think.

Sorry for not posting before now. Weekend was a heck of a weekend. No one enjoys a 4 year old with food poisoning. Projectile EVERYTHING.

Labyrinth HP 47/47; AC 15/14/11; Saves 4/5/7; Init +3; Perc +10; Sense Motive +2

Bummer! food poisoning, at any age, is a drag. But I can imagine how hard it must be on a new kid. :( Good luck!!

Finally made a small introduction with Mykhail. I do apologize for not having my profile totally up to snuff yet, been dealing with school work which is never fun, especially with three writing emphasis courses all demanding papers of 5+ pages. I will be more consistent with posts and the like soon.

Appreciate the input Elias but please keep it to PM's. Though not linked in recruitment it wouldn't be hard to find this thread and I'd rather the applicants work on what they'd enjoy playing most than what might curry our favor.

Ahhh, makes sense. Didn't think of that.

Or did I?!? Maybe this is a test for other people reading the thread what weren't supposed to be???

Right.

Okay, official deadline for submissions is tomorrow at 6 P.M. EST. I doubt we will have too many more submissions before then. Femi has already sent me his opinions about the group of applicants, Elias and Mykhail I'd like you to do the same as soon as you can. Once I have everyone's thoughts I'll take it from there.

Thanks Xynen, good luck in your decision!

Okay, we are now a party of 5! Please welcome Brask and Kalem into the fold! I look forward to seeing what sort of rebellion you all create!

I should also add that I have a newfound respect for all of my GM's here on the forums. Choosing between even just a handful of PC's was not simple and I have been in much larger recruitments.

The first gameplay thread is up, and I have PM'd each of you with a link to the Roll20 campaign I'll be hosting our maps on. If you have any issues please let me know.

*Disclaimer* I am not a new user to Roll20 but I am a new GM for it, so feel free to provide any tips or critiques as we play through this Adventure Path.

Welcome you two, to the show that never ends. Well, for a couple years anyway. :D Congratulations!

GM Xynen, let me know if you have any questions about Roll20. It's pretty good, but there are some rough spots. Happy to help.

Oh, and I cannot yet move Femi on my own yet. You'll need to assign our characters to us to manipulate. While doing that, you should probably check 'show nameplate' so we can do radius spells like Magic circle protection from evil and the like. Also on the Advanced tab, make sure you have 'see' and 'edit' checked for Name, Aura 1, and Aura 2. Makes it visible to the players (as opposed to just the DM).

I've got to get my baby set up, so I'll make my first post later tonight!

ok, Is that too much for what you wanted as a preparation for the fight? I figure the Oratory wasn't really something that was combat-prep related, so it'd be ok. Let me know if you want me to strike that bit.

No your post is good Elias, it's just a few seconds time wise so nothing terrible. You will however have to forfeit your ability to move through the crowd easily if you use disguise self.

I was waiting till the next post to mention but the whole protest area will count as difficult terrain. I'll let you decide.

Male Status HP: 38/38; AC: 22 (T:10, FF:22); CMB +9; CMD 18; Init +0; Perception +10; Fort +8, Ref +3 ; Will +4 Raging HP: 46/46; AC: 22 (T:10, FF:22); CMB +11; CMD 21; Init +0; Perception +10; Fort +10, Ref +3 ; Will +6

I hope there's no problem with Brask having Taldan origins. It's not like he was an eagle knight or lion blade, but I liked the imagery of Lion-themed equipment.

Dark Archive

Maps: Segang Expedition

The players guide lists Taldans and Varisians as the most common humans after Chelish ones, I don't see why we can't apply the same logic to transplants of other races. Being Taldan is fine by me.

I'll go ahead and do it. I think keeping my identity a secret is more valuable, for the moment, than the ability to move freely. If that changes during our inevitable escape from the bloodbath about to happen, I'll dismiss the Disguise Self and hope for the best :)
