Elias have you leveled up? I see your Stat line has been updated but I just want to make sure youre finished. I'll have the next post up in a few hours.

Kalem Riker |

Okay, so If I gave 700 of my initial divy to Brask, and he's paying me back in full since. that means he still technically owes me 93 gp.

Brask Ulbreaker |

Woot! Almost done! Then maybe I can afford a sandwich! :p
Such a terrible loan shark you are, Kalem.

Kalem Riker |

Anyone want to give me a hand here? Not sure what Kalem would need in terms of gear. Maybe a buckler shield or I can actually give him some weapons (which goes against his usually fighting style but I dunno).
Any ideas?

Brask Ulbreaker |

You might want a buckler, and perhaps a masterwork alchemical silver spiked gauntlet. You lose a point of damage for the alchemical silver weapon, but it would bypass a Devil's DR, which is where it can be useful, AND brawlers can use close weapons in their brawler's flurry. (at level 5 I think you start using your unarmed damage -4 levels for close weapons if the damage is better than the weapon's normal damage too.)
And a spiked gauntlet still fits the hand to hand fighter theme, it looks badass, and you can't get disarmed without getting, well, star wars disarmed.

Eliastraza Malifinion |

At this point, one-shot items are really the way to go. Pick up a potion of bull's strength for when things really go downhill or something.

Kalem Riker |

Shopping List approval needed:
Alchemist fire,
Smokestick
Tanglefoot bags
Thunderstones
Dan Bong
And that gauntlet Brask was describing.
Want to know if they're available for me to buy, and need some help calculating cost of the gauntlet.

Brask Ulbreaker |

Silver Spiked Gauntlet. Should go for masterwork so you can have it enhanced later.

![]() |

The alchemist fire, smokestick, tanglebags and thunderstones are all pretty easy to find, they're all awfully mundane.
A silvered masterwork spiked gauntlet is 325gp if I'm not mistaken, should be relatively simple to find a blacksmith willing to silver a gauntlet he's already crafted.
A dan bong is somewhat exotic, though given Kintargo is a city full of artists and citizens interested in culture, you'd be able to find one after some searching, but it would cost a little more than the standard cost, nothing you need to worry about though (given that it's base cost is 1sp).
It is an exotic weapon though, as far as classifications go, and I don't believe you have exotic weapon proficiency.

Kalem Riker |

The Dan Bong is part of the close weapons fighting group, and Brawlers gain proficiency with all weapons in that group.
Could I purchase them all then? or would you like to impose a time restriction with searching and such?

Eliastraza Malifinion |

Hey Femi, Xynen, what do you think of this:
Each morning, I prepare a ball of stickyrice with http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/a/abstemiousness cast on it. Femi and I approach the neighborhood, I cast Invisibility on the ball of rice AND on Femi. Femi approaches the enclosure and uses Mage Hand to levitate the ball to the prisoner through the bars of his doghouse, from 35 feet away. Prisoner eats ball, prisoner doesn't have to fight the dogs.
Thoughts?

Euphemia 'Femi' Ferka |

Interesting, but let's discuss in character. :) I want Femi to react not just me. Cool?

Eliastraza Malifinion |

Cool, though in part, I want to make sure with Xynen I have access to that spell, since it aint core

Kalem Riker |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Okay, Kalem now has silvered gauntlets, Dan bong, and a whole slew of Alchemical items to help be a bit more flexible with different opponents.

![]() |

Femi is correct, readying actions is only for when you are already in combat, but to move forward with Brasks action I'll use the move he wanted to ready against the guard, well, I'll assume he drew a weapon when the guards did. In the future, when readying an action, please include any relevant rolls in a spoiler on the same post, it will be faster that way.
Kalem next time you use the knockout action, please include the DC in the same post.

Eliastraza Malifinion |

I'm assuming the crowd is too close for me to open up with Channel Energy without hitting civilians, right?

![]() |

There isn't really a crowd. Quite a few people, but none of them clumped up, and you can be sure that they moved as soon as Brasks shouting match with the excruciator started.

Brask Ulbreaker |

Hey, i do what i can.

Kalem Riker |

So....I may have forgotten to boost my hp in the last level up. Was wondering why I was so squishy still...
with a +2 Con modifier and brawler 1d10
I'm assuming max at level 1 (12 hp)
and then +7 at each level for 4 levels
to end with 40 hp.

Euphemia 'Femi' Ferka |

I've been doing the PFS standard, which is avg rounded up rather than avg rounded down. Even animal companions don't round down (FAQ link).
So Kalem, you'd be getting 6hp from level +2 con I think.
GM Xynen, is that correct?

![]() |

Femi is correct. So you would get 12 at first level then 6 + CON bonus per level (12+8+8+8=36). This doesn't include any Favored Class bonus you may have used.
To avoid any confusion in the future I'll repeat my recomendation to post level ups similar to the way Femi and Elias did with the last level. As someone who frequently forgets to add things to his character sheets, having a complete read out of everything makes it easier when I inevitably have to go back and find what I missed.

Eliastraza Malifinion |

Heeeey! I didn't forget the -2 from being shaken! My MaB is normally +5!
My fault for the confusion though, I forgot to add the penalty into the Active Conditions bar, or show my current Status. I'll be better, promise!

Going to let you guys keep finish discussing how to approach the shrine uninterrupted as you still have a few votes to be cast, but I will provide a little bit of info in regards to your Rebellion Actions.
The Blackfeathers have their own safehouse (that you delivered them to when you rescued them) that they offered up to the Ravens for use, and even if that weren't the case, I'll just say that the safehouse issue will be improved within the story, so if you'd prefer to direct your resources elsewhere you can. Either course of action will benefit the rebellion either now or down the road, but I figured you deserve to know before you lock in your actions.

Kalem Riker |

Posting to all my games
Just wanted to inform you all that I am currently wading through a veritable swamp of work, obligations, and schooling. As such, for the next two weeks of I do not guarantee my usual posting rate but will attempt to update games when I am able.
Happy Holidays.

Euphemia 'Femi' Ferka |

Oh, cool! So what do we need to do to use their safe house? Just some role play or do we need to devote a rebellion slot to it? I'd like to role play it either way if we can.
I think we should still start on some thieves anyway. They have a few uses, and we've room for one more team.

![]() |

The Blackfeathers safe house is a role play only safe house and not subject to the penalties or benefits of a Rebellion safe house. It however also gives you the role play benefit of not constantly returning the same location over and over again and I can and will take that into account when the AP calls for certain random events or consequences to the PC's actions.
Any safehouses granted by the "activate safe house" team option is used as follows (from the Players Guide):
Your outlaw team secures a small building somewhere in Kintargo and sets it up as a safe house. You can select any building for this role, provided the building is not located in the Castle District or the Greens (final selection subject to GM approval). The building itself might be abandoned, or it might be a home or humble business run by a rebellion supporter. An activated safe house remains active for 1 week, during which time any characters recovered via the Rescue Character action can be brought to the site without fear. The building also presents a safe place to get food, recover, and rest without worrying about wandering monsters or other interruptions. A cache hidden in an active safe house can’t be lost by the Cache Discovered event. Finally, for each active safe house, the rebellion gains a cumulative +1 bonus on Security checks, to a maximum bonus of +5.
Kalem thanks for the heads up, and good luck with work, hope it's not too time consuming.

Eliastraza Malifinion |

sorry for being slack the last few days. I usually post when the kids are in bed, but my 2 year old has decided that sleep is for other people, and didn't get down till 5 this morning. I'll post tonight as soon as the kids are handled.
Pray for me. *sobs*

Brask Ulbreaker |

Have you tried using nap time?

![]() |

@Kalem I know you said it'd be difficult for you to post, but it's been over a week since we last heard from you, just want to check in and make sure you're still around.

Myradil Melrani |

Speaking of such things, my apologies for the briefness of my posts as of late. I was sick and now my wife is sick and I'm doing a lot more baby care than normal, along with extra shifts at work due to co-workers on vacation.
I'm still here every day, just not able to get as much detail as I might like.

Kalem Riker |

I am definitely still around. I'm essentially taking shifts almost everyday while also doing finals. Thought I might have a free day today but work called to ask if I could come in.
Regardless, my first class is private study, so I'll see if I can get a post up.

![]() |

Kalem/Myradil No worries, I fully expected this time of year to be problematic for posting anyway, and I don't have the best posting record of late either. Hopefully you'll both be able to post regularly again soon.

![]() |

Kalem, feel free to keep your interest in the Devil's Nursery. I'll admit, at this moment I don't know the full amount of influence the district might have later in the AP, but even still it's only been a few weeks so your efforts wouldn't be improving the area just yet.
Now that the current semester is over, I've got a few weeks off of work and intend to finish reading the rest of the AP. Either it will provide some sort of benefit for putting your effort into the area, or I will provide one, so don't worry about it, it's a good hook for your character and I like that you are continuing to pursue it.

![]() |

Sorry for the delay guys, I've been babysitting my niece. As someone without kids of his own, I was not prepared for these levels of exhaustion. I'll have a post up tonight or in the morning.

Eliastraza Malifinion |

Hahahahahahahahaha, as someone with a two year old and a 5 year old, you know nothing, NOTHING!
Seriously though, I can't imagine having the energy level of a little kid. It must be like being on cocaine all the friggin time.

![]() |

Alright, I assume Femi is going to Ruba's, and I know Kalem is focused on the Devil's Nursery for the time being, but we've gone quite a few days both in game and out without any input from anyone else. I know it's holiday season so I'll give everyone a little longer. I'll update Thursday night with a visit to Ruba if I hear nothing else.

![]() |

Much of this last page of posts is mostly me and Femi. I know that it's been the holiday season and things can get hectic, but it seems to me that if you don't feel you character has anything to say then some of you don't post at all.
As example, I have not had a post from Brask since the 19th of December. I'd just like to ask you all to consider that though you:the player may not feel you have anything relevant to say or do you:the pathfinder character is still present in the world and witness to events, regardless of their individual aptitudes for each situation and may even have their own thoughts that they may not suggest out loud but can help develop your character.
Not only does this provide interesting roleplay, but it lets me know that you're still around and "listening", even if it's just a quick post about your relaxing boring day while Femi and Elias go pay for a forgery.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to PM me at anytime.

Brask Ulbreaker |

Sorry... Im still here, i did fall into that pitfall.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Myradil Melrani |

Guilty as well. I try and get a post in each day even if it's just a holding post to show that I'm still here and paying attention, I've been failing a bunch recently though.

Brask Ulbreaker |

Im currently dealing with a family crisis. I should be back online soon.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Euphemia 'Femi' Ferka |

Bummer - sorry to hear it. I hope things improve for you!

Eliastraza Malifinion |

yo Xynen, I can't really tell what square the prisoner is in. Am I 20 feet away if I huddle in this corner or not?

Brask Ulbreaker |

Crisis isn't necessarily diverted, but I'm starting to cope with it. I'll be back soon, just... might take me a while to get the energy up to post rapidly again.

Euphemia 'Femi' Ferka |

Kalem, I'm pretty sure you do damage too with your knockout punch. In fact you have to do enough to bypass DR as well (if any) according to the rule (link):
Knockout (Ex): At 4th level, once per day a brawler can unleash a devastating attack that can instantly knock a target unconscious. She must announce this intent before making her attack roll. If the brawler hits and the target takes damage from the blow, the target must succeed at a Fortitude saving throw (DC = 10 + 1/2 the brawler's level + the higher of the brawler's Strength or Dexterity modifier) or fall unconscious for 1d6 rounds. Each round on its turn, the unconscious target may attempt a new saving throw to end the effect as a full-round action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity. Creatures immune to critical hits or nonlethal damage are immune to this ability. At 10th level, the brawler may use this ability twice per day; at 16th level, she may use it three times per day.
