Thanks guys, maybe if my work schedule ever settles into something resembling consistent I'll be able to jump back in! DM, whenever you get a chance would you mind marking Josie and Inc as inactive? I'll still be able to find the campaign to check in from time to time but I'm a little OCD about keeping my Campaigns page organized :)

Inactive

"You got it!" Josie grins, giving a double thumbs-up as she and Inc head off.

Inactive

"Yeah, I guess you're right," Josie nods. She looks over at her friends and smiles apologetically. "Sorry guys, duty calls elsewhere for a bit! We'll try and catch back up with you later on, okay? Oh! And tell Sheriff Hemlock that Josie and Inc said hello!" she adds as she moves to follow Augustino back to the cathedral.

Inactive

"Oh! Hold on a second guys!" Josie calls out as she (and Inc) come to a stop. "Augustino, hi!" she waves. "Father Zantus wants to see me? Did he say why?"

Inactive

Sure, I can do that. If I don't get the ball rolling on that tonight then I will for sure tomorrow! Thanks for being understanding :)

Inactive

Hey folks, I know this will seem a little sudden but I've made the decision to bow out of this game. My work schedule has been busier than usual lately and I don't look for it to change much for the foreseeable future. As a result I've made the decision to (again) cut down my number of games (which stinks because all the ones I have right now I *really* like) but this ended up being one of the ones I feel the most okay with letting go of; I just don't have the mental energy and in some cases the time to keep up with everything currently on my plate. Hopefully if things change relatively soon I'll be able to jump back in and rejoin you all but if not, it's been fun playing with everyone and I wish you all good luck on all your PbP adventures :)

Inactive

"Well, we did," Josie frowns. "But real heroes don't brag! They just...do," she smiles.

Inactive

"Bethana! Hiiii!" Josie waves excitedly as they make their way into the Market Square. "Axel's right, I don't think we killed them all but we did get uh...what was it, four or five of them at least? We had to do our part!"

"Anyway, have you heard anything from or about the Sheriff? We're looking for him but also kinda sorta making a sweep through town too to make sure there aren't anymore goblins hiding," she adds.
__________

Oof, sorry for the delayed posting...kept crashing or running out of time before I could get to this one :\

Inactive

"If you say so, Axel...fine time to take a bath..." the halfling mutters to herself. She leans back as if to rest against the nearby wall for a moment and jumps as she bumps into Ellen. "Eek! When did you get over here, Ellen? You're like...like a shadow assassin or something with moves like that!"

Inactive

^ I should hope so, though goblins at work certainly would constitute a train-wreck!

Inactive

"Nothing doing," Josie says stubbornly. "What sort of a knight would I be if I hid and let friends take all the risks alone? No, Inc and I are going with you and that's that," she says as she folds her arms over her chest. "If Ellen and Axel want to stay for a little bit and catch their breath though, that'll be fine. They can always catch up with us in a bit - this area around here seems safe now," she adds.

Inactive

Still here, just grumbling about the weird forum bugs floating around right now. Hopefully they get their fix for it rolled out today!

Inactive

"Rescue Ellen?" Josie blinks. "She actually helped us and did a great job of it, too!" she says, beaming at her friend.
__________

Sorry for the delayed post; work and sleep issues.

Inactive

Checking in! Also I think our DM has been preoccupied with dealing with some winter weather so hopefully we'll have a return to regular service soon :)

Inactive

"I dunno...I mean, he might, but wouldn't we be better off trying to track down Sheriff Hemlock once we make sure Joanna is safe?" Josie asks. "Anyway, let's get her off the street before anything else happens," she adds before turning to the door and knocking loudly.

"Hello? It's Josie and Axel and Kejak and Ellen and Inc! We've got Joanna out here, she seems okay but she's really scared and we wanted to make sure we got her back here to the Academy safely!" she calls.

Inactive

Okay yeah, I'm a little confused as to where everyone is; is the Vender's shop within sight distance of where the rest of us are congregated? If so, we can probably all take Joanna back to Turandarok provided there aren't any more immediate threats.

Inactive

"HEY! Are you guys okay?" Josie calls out to the watchmen as they finish off their own goblins. "Did you see any more goblins running around? We can go take care of them if you did!"

Inactive

"Okay, we're back! Is everyone okay?" Josie waves, trying to pretend that the last 30 seconds or so hadn't happened. "Good news is we didn't see anymore goblins down towards Glass Street!"

Inactive

"Well...I guess it's okay," Josie responds as Inc turns and heads back towards Main Street. "As long as you're okay. But next time I'll just tuck and roll and you'll wind up back in your home!" she warns, though there's no real anger in her tone.

Inactive

"Inc! What's gotten into you!?" Josie shrieks as Inc continues to barrel towards Glass Street. Fearful that her friend might hurt herself or someone else in her flight, Josie remains in the saddle and continues attempting to get Inc to snap out of it.

Inactive

"Wha!? Inc, stop! The fight's back that way! What are you doing!?" Josie shrieks as her fearless steed proves not quite so fearless and begins quickly carrying her away from the battle and her friends. "Help, runaway firecat!"

Inactive

"Neener neener!" Josie laughs, sticking her tongue out at the goblin before attempting to finish him off for good.

Attack (Dagger; Arcane Strike, Higher Ground): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 1 = 25
Damage: 1d3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 = 6

Crit!?: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7

Inactive

"Oh no you don't!" Josie cries as she spots the goblins bearing down on Joanna. "For Sarenrae!"

As if responding to a predetermined signal Inc charges one of the oncoming goblins, teeth bared. When they meet their target, Josie swings her dagger down in a vicious arc.

Attack (Dagger; Arcane Strike, Charge, Higher Ground): 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 2 + 1 = 24
Damage: 1d3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5
_________

Assuming they can charge, Josie and Inc take a -2 to their AC for the round.

Inactive

"Whoop, Inc is still really hurt - I'll catch up in just a second, okay? Okay!" Josie calls after the others. Focusing on her strange, inner power Josie gently places her hand on Inc's head and wills her friend's wounds to close.

Rejuvenate Eidolon, Lesser: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

"There we go, good as new!" she beams. "Okay, let's catch up to the others now!"

As they hurry along behind the rest, Josie attempts to keep her eyes open for signs of trouble...

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Inactive

"We need to make sure that there's no one else in immediate danger!" Josie exclaims as she and Inc trot over to join the others. "Ellen, you're okay right? Take a deep breath and count to 10, that always helps me when I'm nervous," she adds before turning her attention to the finely-dressed man.

"Happy we could help you out, sir! It's good to see someone else able and willing to pick up a weapon and fight!"

Inactive

As Axel begins bellowing encouragement fire begins to blaze in Josie's eyes, her friend's anger and indignation becoming her own. Inc's yowl of pain as the goblin dog sinks its teeth into her leg only fans the flames.

"You'll pay for that, you ugly, miserable thing!" she shrieks as she lunges forward and stabs her dagger downward at the dog, very nearly falling out of the saddle in the process.

Attack vs. Goblin Dog (Dagger; Higher Ground, Inspired Rage): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 1 = 13
Damage: 1d3 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
___________

Josie accepts the Inspired Rage, bumping her HP to 10 and dropping her AC to 14.

Inactive

Hoping that Josie could keep the goblin distracted for the moment Inc bites at the mangy thing it rides, hoping to take them both down in one fell swoop.

Attack vs. Goblin Dog (Bite): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Inactive

"Hah! Two can play at that game," Josie laughs as she ducks under the goblin's blade and then offers a return strike of her own.

Attack vs. Goblin (Dagger, Arcane Strike): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage: 1d3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7

Inactive

As Josie readies to give Inc the signal to charge, she realizes that the rest of her companions seem to be holding their ground...and shouting what sounds like nonsense at the two approaching goblins. "Hold on Inc! I think...Ellen and Kejak are calling down some sort of curse on them...?" she says in a puzzled tone.

She grips her dagger tightly in her hand, ready and willing to use it should they try anything funny.

Readied Action:

Attack (Dagger; Arcane Strike, Higher Ground): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10
Damage: 1d3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7

Inactive

Josie blinks as Ellen races up to the remaining goblin and gives it what appears to be a vicious slap across the face. "Huh...never knew you'd trained in unarmed combat, Ellen!" Then she grins as she attempts to strike yet again with her dagger. "That was a nice one though!"

Attack (Dagger; Arcane Strike, Higher Ground): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5

Inactive

"More goblins!? Come on Inc, let's get 'em! CHAAARGE!" Josie cries, urging Inc onward. The eidolon bounds across the open space, making a beeline for one of the two goblins. As she closes the distance, Josie brings her dagger down in an attempted strike!

Attack (Dagger; Arcane Strike, Charge, Higher Ground): 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 2 + 1 = 8
Damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
__________

(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Inactive

"Ellen, what do you mean? That was amazing! I didn't know you were so good with a dagger!" Josie gushes as Axel mends her friend's wounds. "Maybe I'll have to get pointers from you later!"

She looks around. "Was that all of them? Do you guys see any others?"

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Inactive

Josie hears the scream of pain from close by and turns, spotting Ellen squaring off against another goblin. "That's Ellen! Hold on Ellen, we're coming!"

She takes one last swing at the now-drooling goblin standing before them...

Attack (Dagger; Arcane Strike, Higher Ground): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 = 12
Damage: 1d3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5

...then begins flailing and thrashing around, trying to get Inc to change her course. "Come on, we gotta go help Ellen!"

Inactive

Clearly becoming rather irritated at her failure to hit anything, Josie stabs at the remaining goblin.

Attack (Dagger; Arcane Strike, Higher Ground): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9
Damage: 1d3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7

"Grrr! What sort of vile protections do these goblins have!?"

Inactive

Well, right now I'm mainly in an 'under the weather' state rather than the 'totally miserable' state that seems to be common with the flu. Not sure if it's just because it's in it's early stages or if my immune system is just that awesome. Either way, I'm going to take my meds and hope it doesn't get any worse!

Inactive

Hey friends! Good news is that I'm back! Bad news is I tested positive for the flu today! At least that'll give me plenty of time for PbP while I'm off work and recovering?

Inactive

"Good work, Inc! Worry not citizens, we'll make short work of these goblins!" Josie calls as one of the two goblins finally falls to Inc's sharp teeth. She turns her attention to the new challenger and attempts to deliver a vicious strike with her dagger!

Attack vs. Goblin #3 (Dagger; Arcane Strike, Higher Ground): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 = 11
Damage: 1d3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7
_______

There may be some growing pains as Josie morphs into a more competent fighter...

Inactive

Josie squeals with pain as she takes a nasty slice to the leg from one of the goblins, but she's not one to give up easily. "You'll have to try harder than that to take us down!" she cries as she attempts another strike at her attacker.

Attack vs. Goblin #1 (Dagger; Arcane Strike, Higher Ground): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10
Damage: 1d3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5

Inactive

Hey guys, I'm going to be pulling 12s at work for the next three days so you may not see much in the way of posts from me during that time. I'll try to check in/keep up as much as I can but it may not be until Friday night or Saturday before I'll get caught up. As always, feel free to bot me for combat/skill checks as needed!

Inactive

"Hey!" Josie exclaims as the goblin charges up and takes a swipe at Inc. "Face me, you cowardly thing! For Sarenrae!" she cries as her dagger suddenly gleams in the light of the sun. Taking advantage of her higher vantage point on top of Inc she stabs downward, aiming for the spot between shoulder and neck.

Attack vs. Goblin (Dagger; Arcane Strike, Higher Ground): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7
Damage: 1d3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7

Unfortunately, she's still getting the hang of mounted combat and her dagger whiffs by the goblin harmlessly.
__________

Per the Mounted Combat rules Josie gets a +1 to her melee attack rolls for being on 'higher ground' as her mount is a size larger than the goblin.

Inactive

Josie would probably normally wear at least her leather armor and carry her dagger no matter what since those two items are relatively unobtrusive and Inc would have her riding saddle. They'd likely leave the rest of their gear at the cathedral unless planning to actually go somewhere or do something that required it. She might carry her longspear around on a normal day but she'd leave it on festival day due to the crowds.

Inactive

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Spoiler:

1=SSE Wagon
2=NNE Wagon

1d2 ⇒ 2

"GOBLINS!? Where!?" Josie gasps, unable to see much beyond the sea of stampeding legs and knees. She hastily climbs up onto Inc's back and pulls out her dagger. "Come on Inc, let's get to the wagon so we can see what's happening!" she cries, pointing at the wagon to the northeast.
____________

Move action for Josie to hop onto Inc, then another for her to draw her dagger.

Inactive

"That's actually a pretty good idea Kejak! I'd love to try a little bit of...wait, you were holding Shayliss' hand Axel!?" she gasps with delight. "That's so cuuuuute! I didn't know you liked her! You should've invited her to come sit with us," she scolds.

Inactive

Sounds good to me re: skills and languages, DM! And I'm enjoying getting into the rhythm of the game; it sometimes takes me a bit to really nail down a character's 'voice' so bear with me if Josie and Inc fluctuate a bit in these early days.

I will say that the general idea is for Josie to be rather ridiculous about a lot of things and poor Inc plays the straight man (or eidolon, as the case may be). What's funny is that my other USummoner is basically the opposite setup: summoner is a bit of a grump and the eidolon is generally cheerful and willing to go along with the other PC's shenanigans most of the time :3

Inactive

At the market square Josie's face lights up like a child's at the sheer variety of wares available and she spends a fair amount of time flitting from booth to booth just to look at it all.

"Ooh...those scarves feel so soft..."

"Aw, these paper butterflies are cute..."

"Spices, huh? I wonder what this one smells like? Huh...it smells kinda like licorice!"

Although she enjoys looking at all the trinkets, nothing in particular catches her eye for a purchase. Truth be told, she'd been trying to save her money for some better (and flashier) equipment and was finding the process to be a bit slower than she'd like.

Oh well...anything important is worth sacrificing for, right? And better equipment is pretty darn important!

"Haha, are you all hungry at last? Then I'm ready to go hop in line too," she smiles.

Inactive

*sigh* Got called in to work today, so just bot me as needed. I'll catch up when I get home tonight.

Inactive

"He's right," Josie calls from her vantage point on the other side of the wagon. "It'd make a pretty painting!"

"And yeah, I'm hungry enough but I don't mind waiting if you want to do something else until the lines thin out," she replies to Kejak. "Maybe we should go see what sorts of souvenirs and trinkets people are selling!"

Inactive

"Oh, um...okay..." Josie responds, looking a bit puzzled. "I guess we'll catch up with you later Axel!" she waves.

Inactive

Safe travels! :)

Inactive

"Ooh, niiiice," Josie gasps, looking quite impressed with Axel. "How'd you manage to keep up your strength through all three hits like that? My arms kinda gave out on my second swing," she frowns.
