The Exchange 2/5

A slight breeze drifts through the doorway, cooling Cledwyn's sweating brow. As he turns from the tray of hot pastries he was fussing over, before him stands a familiar face.

The elf's skin is sunkissed, his long pale hair a tousled mess, and his limbs are supple yet corded with steely sinews. His casual traveling clothes and cloak are a mixture of greys, blacks, and browns, perfect for blending into a wall or alleyway. His violet eyes casually seem to take in everything, and nothing, at a single glance. As they lock on to you, a wide smile creases his face. "Hello my friend, it brightens my day to see you." he says with lyrical tones, "My companion and I are so happy that you have finally established your own little nest here in the city, the succulent scents that drew us in here assure us that you will be a great success."

It is then that you notice the four foot long wasp silently clicking it's way into your shop on six dainty legs. It's antenna practically quiver in every direction at once and it's wings begin to hum with a low excitement, something you have only ever seen in times of battle alongside it, and it's Ranger master. "BzzZZzzt practically begged to stop in and see you, I think he actually misses you as much as I have." He puts a hand out to stroke it's bulbous head and the giant insect seems to calm momentarily. "I do believe he's a bit hungry though, I think it best if we find him something to eat, and quickly."

"One pail of sugar water please."

Let's get this post back on track.

We can ignore the whole boon companion thing if you realize that by taking the Beastmaster Archtype from APG, you lose one feat (which you were gonna blow on boon companion anyway) and gain access to all the druid animal companions (including vermin - giant wasp!) and that as you level up, your ranger level boosts up to full comparative druid level (at 11th level).

My elven ranger feat selection has been this so far

1st Weapon Focus
2nd Precise Shot
3rd Endurance (free)
3rd Rapid Shot
5th Deadly Aim
7th Manyshot
9th Improved Initiative
10th Point Blank Master
11th Improved Precise Shot

.............that's as far as I've gotten

Just remember to wear a spiked mithril breastplate so that you gain the benefits of threating in melee as well as always having a weapon at hand that you don't have to switch to. Then upgrade to celestial armor when your dex bonus climbs past +5

Avoid Point Blank Shot, it's a trap!

Your short range is 110 ft with a composite longbow, no reason to get within 30ft so the monsters can walk up and hammer on you.

Always buy:

A Whetstone
Cold Iron Arrows (they cost a whole 2 gp for 20)
Blunt arrows
Grappling Arrows (silk or spider silk knotted rope)
Smoke Arrows
Whistling Arrows
Thistle Arrows
Silver, Adamantine, and Ghost Salt Weapon Blanch (Have it already melted on some arrows so it's ready to go)

Only melee weapons can be enchanted with ghost touch and ammo is not a melee weapon.

I know the PFS at FFG is switching to Saturday June 18th because of Father's Day this weekend and they will be running "We be goblins".

Are you switching to Saturday as well and what is scheduled to be run?

If I can get two games in this weekend and actually play myself in one of them, I'll be very happy.

Thanks

Ummm, you see that little eagle next to my name? Yeah, that's how secret my faction affiliation is.

Anyone I game with can find me on this message board and see it plain as day. Since I play with a regular crowd at the FLGS, this is alot easier than you think.

And whomever said Andoran was a good class choice for a Ranger needs to have their head examined. Diplomacy isn't a class skill for me, and Charisma's not something a Ranger places a high number in, but at least one of my faction missions are always dependant on some god awful high Diplomacy roll.

The only way I've been able to complete them all thus far is by finding out which player has a decent skill in it and asking them for help, and offering to help them with theirs if I can.

I think this whole secret faction mission stuff is nonsense of the highest regard. There's no interparty conflict allowed, so no one has to help anyone with their mission, but they're really not supposed to try to sabotage them either. So who cares?

Besides, everyone in the group has to work together to complete the adventure, so why shouldn't they work together to complete their faction missions as well? Everyone wants to survive and everyone wants their prestige points. They need them so that they can have access to buying more expensive equipment, and for their other fringe benefits.

So yes, I am going to help the Cheliax person collect theirs because I want that player to be happy and enjoy the rewards of surviving and completing their task, and if they can help me complete mine? I'll be happy too.

If faction missions were for roleplaying only, then I can see them as useful to make the game more enjoyable for roleplayers. But since they are directly tied to how your characters power and survivability increases, they are must haves for anyone serious about thier meta-game advancement.

You can't put something out there who's effects are solely tied to the meta-game, and then complain when people want to meta-game it.

I played Penumbral Accords at the second table last Sunday and haven't had the event registered on my profile yet.
