He pauses for a moment, looking into the rising and falling water around him.

"This... this is good too. I uh... I'm glad I met you guys."

"Same here. This is way more fun than back at home where everyone is always so stiff and formal around me all the time. Not easy to find playmates that way, you know? This is a good place to be for starting over," she said breezily, totally ruining the effect by choking on a mouthful of pool water. "See? Not dignified at all," she sputtered.

"Well, we can swim in salt water in the SIM rooms if we want," she said agreeably. "But I don't like the SIM rooms. My weather magic doesn't work well in there because none of it is real and there's almost no actual moisture in the air. It's just simulated moisture. Blech. Seriously, that place is like a desert. I totally prefer using the actual pool," she said, starting to focus on calling up a mostly gentle wind, waving her arm back and forth over the pool to get the waves started.

Gavin is equally oblivious to such things...he probably won't realize he has feelings for anyone until it's too late...

"Yeah this is way better!"
Once the waves get going, he dismisses his armor and falls in, another attempt at a cannonball.

Janie makes sure that she has the wind going at the right pace to keep the waves going for a good long time before she follows suit, jumping into the pool with a few steps running start. She comes up laughing as she works to keep her head above water with the constant up and down of the waves.

I'm so bad at flirting. He's supposed to be a lot better than me at that.

And then the electricity stops and the cloud breaks up into several smaller clouds, which drift slowly apart, the rain slowing and eventually stopping as the clouds become too small to sustain it.

The cloud that's raining on the slide has gotten notably bigger.

"Oh, thank goodness. That scared me! I was sure for a second there that you were gonna end up in the infirmary and we were all gonna get detention!"

Looks at the cloud brewing over the snakes

"We still might get detention..."

"Ohnonononononoooo," she wailed, scrambling for the ladder. "Everyone out of the pool! I might still be able to get it back under control, but when I lose focus my rainstorms tend to turn into thunderstorms! "That's perfect!" Gavin takes a run and jumps onto the snakes, riding the rainwater into the pool. He comes up a second later "You gotta try this!!"

Janie laughs and hurries to do just that, shrieking with delight as she traveled down the makeshift slide.

The snakes are concious beasts, or at least well controlled and take direction easily. The two with Janie and Rakki slither out of the pool and up, each biting onto a wall fixture to anchor themselves. The one Gavin was on leans next to those to act as an elevator to the top.

"Maybe just a small raincloud at the top to get water flowing down?"

Janie laughed in delight. "Now that I can do, no problem," she said, gathering up the excess moisture in the air and forming it into a cloud right at the top. It wasn't exactly small, per se. He trails off, adding a shrug.

"What if you put two of them side by side, and ride the valley between them down?"

"Yeah, that could totally work! Well, at least it's worth a try," she said enthusiastically. "Okay, here we are," she said, opening the door to an enormous room filled with a large mostly empty pool. "Gavin, you been having trouble with Helt in classes and stuff or is it me he's trying to irritate?"

"Sure. If there's one thing I have, it's albums. And some other stuff if you end up liking it."

He takes a swig of the bright orange soda.
"So, weather, huh? I've got a little nature stuff myself, but it never kept a concert from being rained out. There was a month or two it happened so often I was almost afraid the tour dates on the Sun would too." He laughs at the irony of raining on the Sun.

She shrugged. "I don't think I could do much in big weather conditions like that. Big weather means big consequences. You can start a drought, cause floods, accidentally trigger a natural disaster. All for a sunny day. I only do little weather. Indoor rainstorms, that sort of thing. Being a weather witch is mostly about not doing stuff, which kinda sucks. But I could probably accidentally destroy the continent if I really tried, so there's that," she said half joking.

"...yeah...albums..." is all he gets out concerning Rakki's comment, distracted as he is.

"A little bit, but nothing I can't handle. I'm just glad to hear that he isn't taking it out on you. Pretty sure it's nothing serious anyways. Just the usual. I made trouble so that makes the troublemakers think I'm competition," she said with a cocky grin.

He's still listening as he pulls a small sort of wallet type thing from a chain on his hip. He starts to quite literally leaf through it as it seems to be filled with different types of fresh green leaves.

"Oh, cool. That must have been fun. Sorry I haven't heard any of your music. My village is really small and kinda insulated," she said with a shrug and an eyeroll. "I only learned drums because it was one of the few socially acceptable activities for a weather witch. They have soooo many rules. With table accompaniment he starts into a song: Right here.

Differences: Male vocals of course, "human man" in first line changed to "Hey there man," it's acoustic, and there's less struggling in the solo.

Rakki has adjusted to Avalon for the most part. He spends a lot of time by the lake as a tiger, sunning himself. That was something he missed. So much of tour life happened at night and he'd gotten used to sleeping during the day. Being able to be out and in the sun was pleasant.

At the moment, he's in the cafeteria, playing a guitar. He's leaned up against a wall strumming tunes and pretending to not be obvious, hoping a fan or someone will recognize him in his incognito obviousness, so that he can pretend to be casual about being recognized when it was really the reason he wasn't somewhere else actually trying not to be noticed.

A girl sitting at a nearby table has started drumming along on the table in time with his playing. There's no sign that she recognizes him. She just seems to like the music.

Much to Janie's annoyance, her audition kept getting put off and put off. Hard to join a band when they're all too busy dealing with their own personal crises. So she just went about her business as usual. Practicing drums. Calling down a rainstorm in the cafeteria (so worth the detention). Hanging out with Gavin.

"Yeah I'm in the other PE class...I don't know why, really. When I came too...I uh figured out that I can surround myself with magic armor and summon swords. I couldn't do it before I got messed with, I'm pretty sure. So I have to take classes to understand how my mind powers work, and I think meditation is so I can learn to maintain my 'focus' whatever that means. But sounds like we may have study hall and meditation together. We can share our boredom!"

She laughed. "Yes, exactly! Well, you know what they say, misery loves company...and having to stay still for an hour contemplating a pebble is definitely misery."

She finished off the hash browns and went back to working through the pile of toast on her tray. "Mind powers, huh? That's pretty neat. And probably pretty alarming sometimes. New powers always seem to be."

"Wow. That's some seriously heavy stuff. Sorry, Gavin."

"On the bright side, at least you can't remember anything embarrassing you might have done in the past," she said, trying to put a good face on things. "And it's not a bad face, so at least there's that...Yeah, I'm not helping, huh?"

"Yeah, nice to meet you." he says with a joking weak smile

"Me? Do anything embarrassing? Never!" he says, referencing his awkward pouring his heart out to a complete stranger. "It's not? I'll take that compliment!"

She laughed. "Well, it was meant as one, so there's that."

"So now that you're going to classes, which classes do you have? It would be cool if we had a class together."

"Well, I have History of Agartha, PE, Mathemagics, Psionics 101, Philosphy, and Meditation. Oh, and a study hall after lunch."

"Well, I have PE, of course, the basic one. And Meditation. Last class of the day. I have basic arcana, music, study hall, PE, nature magic, and meditation. Nature magic stresses me out. I mean, I'm a weather witch. Why do I care about all this other crap with plants and animals and so on...I can't do anything with that stuff....and I tend to summon thunderstorms when I'm stressed out, or at the very least high winds, so I guess that's why they thought I needed meditation. I still haven't once seen the teacher either. There are instructions on a blackboard at the front of the classroom when we get there. Usually something weird like contemplate a pebble."

"So," she said, dumping ketchup all over a big pile of hashbrowns before taking a huge bite, "why were you not in classes? Were you sick or something?"
He looks down at his plate for a second and just mutters "Yeah, kinda." He takes a deep breath. "I don't remember things I should. I'm 16, I think, but I don't remember much from my childhood. All I know is I was kidnapped by a group to be experimented on, kinda. I was brought here, I guess, as a way to start over. Well, then my dreams started to get really bad...bits and pieces of the past would come back...I guess I had a kind of emotional breakdown. I was in and out of the infirmary, and in some SIM rooms talking to people when those got up and running...some days I think I'm ok...and others I'm only hanging on by a thread...I've just learned to keep going, keep living, but...it's alot, you know? How do I move forward when I don't know who I am? My own face isn't familiar to me some days..."
