Sorry about not chiming in earlier, but while I have had fun, I will be dropping from this campaign (as you likely surmised).

Glad it looks like you guys will keep going though!

Makes sense (waiting on the results of the transmission for now)

Jalla charges up the phaser banks and secures a target lock.

"Hailing the Safe Bet. Cease all hostilities. This is your final warning!"

Presence+Conn (12): 3d20 ⇒ (3, 7, 6) = 16
Untapped Potential: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Cancels out the Momentum spend

"Safe Bet, we have explained ourselves in full, and are willing to share our discoveries, but your request is far outside the bounds of established declarations of neutrality. Surely there must be some agreement we can come to."

Presence + Conn (12): 2d20 ⇒ (15, 14) = 29 Womp womp

"There is a certain poetic justice to it."

"Raising the shields, Captain. Do you wish to open a hailing frequency?"

[b]"As you say, Captain. It's a mercy we were able to find a suitable solution."

Jalla keys her communicator, "We have a new, or rather, an old guest, Captain. She has some thoughts on how the signal could be disrupted. Are you having any success with more diplomatic methods now that Doctor Hagen is serving as an interlocutor?"

I can trust him to do this, at least.

Jalla nods an unasked-for assent at Gareb's plan to revivify the Vulcan, and begins to comb through the computer's logs.

"What happened to them..."

Reason+Conn: 2d20 ⇒ (17, 18) = 35

Is this... encrypted?

Jalla spends time looking for any kind of physical black box or logs, but also asks, "Computer? Please restore power."

It's been here a while.

Jalla walks cautiously to the shuttle, then, tucked against the side of the ship raps the back of her knuckles on the door. After an Andorian-quick heartbeat, she throws the door open.

Yep, I didn't want to pull the camera from the captain too early :-p

"If they want new bodies, it's possible there can be a peaceful resolution, sir."

Despite her words, Jalla advances on the shuttle, hoping to find evidence of whether the Zachra can be trusted.

Gingerly Jalla moves forward to disarm Pegira, in case the chorus turns more destructive. "Captain, while you tend to the doctor, I believe I should examine this shuttle. It is no good omen that this discovery is not already in the Federation's logs."

Jalla wordlessly takes the lead as they travel, making certain that her Captain doesn't get any foolishly heroic ideas.

"Captain. Before we get too far down the Hybor hole, there's a Federation power signal in that chamber to the west. Was there any other indication we aren't the first to visit this ship?"

Jalla leaves the alien consoles to others, instead focusing on making sure no suddenly activating systems surprise her or her crew.

Insight(?) + Security: 2d20 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 3 Successes! I'll spend it all on as much info as is possible.

Jalla's antennae vibrate softly in amusement at Eliza's satisfaction. "Yes, it was very impressive."

"As you say, sir."

Jalla carefully crafts her message, hoping that the oddity of the transmission will lend weight to their tale, instead of encouraging the Orions to disregard it.

Presence+Conn: 3d20 ⇒ (18, 5, 6) = 29
Untapped Potential: 1d6 ⇒ 2 Two Successes, netting one momentum. I'll put both successes towards effect if that's useful, if not then a total of +2 momentum

Jalla doggedly sets to work on establishing the quarantine.

"Captain Tobin, it is clear by Federation regulations that we have to inform the Orion before breaching their space. Is this your order, sir?"

Her expression is neutral as she asks, but her attention is unwavering.

Here and reading along btw - Doc Hagen's just seemed to have everything in hand :-)

Control+Security: 3d20 ⇒ (17, 11, 5) = 33
Untapped Potential: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Jalla quickly sets to work. Even without proper access, most Federation security doors worked off of certain core principles and... **ssswom**

This one was no exception.

Down one momentum

Let's start with Doc Jenner

Jalla raps a quick, familiar rhythm, and slides it open.

Jalla nods and takes the lead, antennae flat against her head in forced concentration.

"Sedate if possible. But don't get yourself hurt."

Just noticed that 'Take a Security team' didn't actually specify Jalla

Jalla prepares the message for the Orions before standing to join Eliza and Hagen. "Permission to join the boarding party, sir?"

Ready once you're able to hop back in :)

Also as a PSA - apparently the recent update broke the PM notifications. So it's worth doublechecking every so often if someone's trying to reach you, and not getting irked if someone's not responding.

"As you say, sir."

She begins processing the messages before she asks, " Captain, if the Orion do not heed our warning... What then? "

Jalla nods, "A memetic, virus. Which can be
transmitted
by all means
of-"

She shakes her head and starts again, this time without the odd syncopation. "It's a contagious tune. For now it's just irritating, but left untreated, we'll eventually all go mad."

Jalla quickly sets to work trying to decipher the origins of this clog. Initially checking transmission coding markers, but moving to content if needed.

Reason+Conn: 2d20 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10

Fair enough. I had clearly projected a faster timeline onto the situation :x

Conn+Reason(?): 2d20 ⇒ (1, 20) = 21 Well. I suppose it doesn't really matter what scores were being used with that roll. 2 Successes and a Complication...

Jalla quickly dives into examining the communications array, antennae beginning to perk up as she does so. "That's odd..."

For now Jalla simply focuses on her primary task - Security. There shouldn't be any sort of violent oddities yet, but she's determined that they will be nipped in the bud before anything escalates out of hand.

Security+Insight(?): 2d20 ⇒ (6, 14) = 20 1 Success. Possibly more if it should be Reason?

Fantastic! I thought you might've been a casualty of the site-pocalypse

While there is just no way she would bring it up to someone who might relieve her of duty before anything untoward happened, it does occur to me that Jalla's TBI (and the ensuing implant to regulate her symptoms) might interact oddly with a memevirus.

A chill runs through Jalla as Pegira explains the likely course of the plague, but thankfully Captain Dell quickly provides her with orders, tasks. She could deal with the rest later.

Jalla wasn't the type to whistle while she worked, but despite her typical tendencies, even as she began shutting down the Bastion's links to the outside world, she didn't notice herself beginning to hum an unfamiliar tune...

Jalla tugs on some off duty workout clothes and begins hustling over to sickbay, antennae pricked forward in some alarm. She was likely called in on a consult. I can't imagine that we're under attack without any kind of alert.

Can't get this tune out of my head, but I can't have actually heard it anywhere if the Computer can't identify it. It must be related to the beacon. She's not on duty at the moment, but I should inform her of this phenomenon, nonetheless.

"Computer, please locate Doctor Hagen."

Jalla wakes up, feeling blessedly cold. Even in her quarters, she normally kept the climate control closer to human comfort levels, not wanting to overly strain her system with constant temperature adjustments.

But what in the world was that music?

"Computer, request that you identify the following tune..."

Eternally Vigilant.

Talk about a clogged communications buffer!
Jalla's ready to move on as well.

Jalla's antennae prick forward in curiosity at Dr. Jenner's assessment, "Quite a coincidence, wouldn't you say?"

Reason+Conn (13): 2d20 ⇒ (3, 17) = 20

Thankfully Pegira has already narrowed the scope of the investigation to how exactly this relic is communicating, as Jalla has the scant minimum of experience in the more theoretical sciences to graduate the Academy.

Still, communications is far more up her alley, and she quickly sets to work on illuminating Pegira's hypothesis.

Jalla nods politely, but briskly, and hastens after Tobin.

"I am surprised that sub-conscious thinking was both replicable and useful for an AI. What sent you down that path?"

Jalla is never wholly comfortable with a visit to a med-bay, and any EMH, no matter how advanced couldn't help but put her off her game a bit. The med-bay always seemed to mean long stretches of boredom, or sharp peaks of tension while you waited to find out that the news was bad.

As a result, it takes her a moment to catch the significance of the hologram's last statement. "Subconscious, or subroutine?" she inquires. How advanced is this hologram supposed to be?!

With Jalla's focuses in Law, Prose and Debate, I'd particularly welcome more work with T'vril and her Great Thinkers

"How far can you really extrapolate such things? There are libraries of reasonable debate concerning competing interpretations of great thinkers - Do you have any reason to suspect your simulations will have greater fidelity to authorial intent?"

Jalla's eyebrows and antennae rise in alarmed unison at Oskari's revelations. "Reviving the dead?"

Jalla digs in heartily to a bowl of particularly spicy qrchik (a pickled cabbage soup). The idea of being recorded wasn't particularly concerning to her, she'd been a heartwarming background element of a lot of vids. Additionally, though none of her past challenges to Ushaan had been broadcast far and wide, they hadn't exactly been low profile.

"Dr. T'vril, may I ask what deficiencies you are currently addressing in the medical program? In my experience, it is more than serviceable within its niche."

And much easier to overrule than a real officer if it attempts to overcautiously relieve you of duty.

Jalla brings the deflector shields online, preparing to cycle against typical Orion phaser frequencies, but as they don't appear to be fully prepared for action, her true concern is the Starbase.

"Captain Dell, request permission to prepare a boarding party for the Hephaestus."
