Nope, you are wandering into the plot, Gareb. Nice job. The way you put it, it reminds me of the music they put on the Voyager probes.

Speaking of installing the holodeck, we seem to have lost our engineer quite some time back. Should we recruit a replacement? I know I'm slow to post lately, but I really do enjoy these Star Trek games that I'm running.

Stress 5/10

Gareb is ok at engineering but he's already got two hats to wear. I'm happy to recruit another player but it's a nice to have not a must have I think.

I know a recently unemployed chief engineer. She lost her job a few hundred years ago but Vulcans are very long lived so I’m sure she’s around. She MIGHT have problems working with the Klingons though.

Stress 5/10

Hah good point but she's had some time to reflect and they are our allies... any ideas about doing the same thing to the Dominion cropping up in her head may have been disuaded after seeing what happened to the Tal Shiar and the Obsidian Order... no homeworld to target.

I'd be in favour of T'Karra getting a new lease of life.

I think I'd be happier keeping T'Karra as a potential adversary in the earlier era just because it has such potential to be very Trek, at least in my head.

Here and reading along btw - Doc Hagen's just seemed to have everything in hand :-)

Very kind of you to all think of me and I would love to play this character more! I am up to being a bad guy for the other game just as much as being here in this one

2 people marked this as a favorite.

At this time of thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment to be thankful for my online PbP community. I'm not the best PbP GM. Often busy and inattentive. But I am thankful for the generous and creative people that I have found on this forum to play games with with. They allow me to indulge in games I otherwise would not be able to play. To connect with people I otherwise would never encounter. To have a few moments every day that are sublime. Whether high fantasy, low modern, or science fiction, than you for your contributions to my life. Know that you might often feel neglected, but I hope you will believe that each of the people in my games is one of the best things in my life. I am thankful for each of you.

Just wanted to let you know that you are appreciated as well!

Stress 5/10

I'm having a lot of fun and I'm slowly learning the system through the two games. Thanks for running the games.

Posting this to all my games, so sorry if you see it multiple times:

This week both my office and I personally are going to be moving. It's been crazy busy and I am not going to be able to post until Monday at the earliest. Please bot me if I am in your game, and if you are in a game I am running, I will get a post up as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience.

Merry Christmas, or whatever you may be celebrating!

So I am posting from work:
Apologies about not posting sooner, but I have been down internet wise for roughly a week, and will not have internet back up yet for a week or so.
This means that I haven't had internet for the last 4 days (as we had 4 days off at my work for the holiday).
It's been...an experience where I learned that I use the internet more than I thought I did.
With all of that being said, I will try to post from work as I can, but if I am in your game, please bot me as needed.
If I am running your game, please bear with me while I try to post when I can. Hopefully, sooner than better, but I want to be up front about this issue.
again, I apologize about the delay.

Just wanted to let everybody know that I will be a few days off. Three or four, probably. I've managed to overstress my vocal cords again and I need to let them recover. I'm very sorry, and I'll be back ASAP!

I am posting this to all of my games, so apologies if you see this multiple times:

Unfortunately, I have some bad news.

A combination of work-related stuff has lead to me having to take some time off from the forums. I am, in all honesty, going to need to be gone for several months, as I am going to be travelling for extended periods of time (weeks or more) and I'll likely not have good access to the internet.

As I am not someone who would want to have you all sit and wait for me here, I am going to be withdrawing/closing all of my open forum games.

I want to thank everyone who I have had the pleasure to game with over the last couple of years here, as I have immensely enjoyed my time on the forums, and hopefully, once my work stabilizes, I will be able to rejoin the community.

Thank you again for your time and energy, and I am sorry that I won't be able to keep things moving forward in any of the games that I am running.

I hope that's a "good for you" Vrog. I'll miss you in all of the games that I'm in. And as slowly as my games move, you can probably jump back in if you make it back.

Sorry to see you go, Pegira, but I do hope you return eventually!

Speaking of returns, I'm back. :-) I'll be able to post in the afternoon, probably.

Stress 5/10

A few thing came up this weekend which was set to be quite busy as it was (including my car breaking down) so free time for PBP hasn't been in abundance. I will be posting tomorrow in all my games. Sorry for the delay.

I've been out on vacation with limited access to email. I'm back now!

We've gone a week without action. I'm not sure what is needed or I would gladly provide it. What are we hung up on? What do we want to do to move forward.

Can everyone please check in to see who is still here?

This really is a situation where we just need to push the narrative forward in whatever way you think is most appropriate for your characters. There isn't really a "right" answer.

Rank: Captain. Determination 1, Stress 0/9

Still here, but been sick.

my fault, voice iffy again, post around me and I will post ASAP

Having a crazy week personally and professionally this week. I'll post when I can.

Copying to all my games.

I really hate this time of year. :-( I've caught yet another cold or flu or something, and even dictating this is extremely painful. Bot me as necessary, but I'll be a few days. I'm very, very sorry! I'll be back ASAP!

Grand Lodge

I think giving them the transmission they are requesting is very trek

I'm here, just not sure how to get things moving.

Are we dead over here? I'm not sure who is still around.

Rank: Captain. Determination 1, Stress 0/9

alive but still sick. :(

Sorry to here it.

Grand Lodge

Female Drow Ninja 6th level Max HP 34, AC

Here and hoping we are still going!

Stress 5/10

I'm a bit unsure, if Gareb tried to do the shield modulations option for breaking free of the tractor beam is it just him rolling reason and engineering? Or is it science? Buffing the shields in combat is science. Is there a roll for the ship to assist?

It would be a Control+Security Task assisted by the ship's Structure and Security. Difficulty 3.

We seem to have a critical loss of personnel/players. Can we have T'Karra, Gareb, and Jalla finish this thing out and then we can see where we want to go from there.

Makes sense (waiting on the results of the transmission for now)

Stress 5/10

Now that we are out of combat can we reattempt to set up the holodeck weirdness.

Grand Lodge

Female Drow Ninja 6th level Max HP 34, AC

Please bot me as I am recovering and on the mend from emergency surgery

Scary, and sorry to hear that. Hope you have a chance to rest and recover.

You certainly can try to set up the holodeck or whatever other course you wish to pursue.

I think we can be done here. I could escalate using threat, but you have dealt with the enemy threat and managed to set up an interface. We don't necessarily need to deal with all of the repercussions onscreen. Let's wrap up this episode and talk about where to go from here.

Rank: Captain. Determination 1, Stress 0/9

I'm sorry I missed the end of that. I'm still sick (still not sure what, antibiotics seem to do nothing), but I'm getting a balance back to getting so I can dictate again at something closer to my old rate. I'm not there yet, but I'm working on it.

Unfortunately, even at my best I don't think I was stable enough to continue as captain. I was slowing things down whenever I caught even the slightest cold, and I really don't want that.

If the game continues, I'd be happy to either come up with a new character or just step down entirely. Whatever works best. :-)

Stress 5/10

I'm up for continuing but even if Captain Dell get's reassigned I don't see Gareb getting command bar temporarily during an emergency. I imagine Star Fleet command would be reluctant to leave him in charge of a ship for very long... one mission could work if we have trouble reorganising... but in that circumstance probably not on something near the front lines.

I could bring in an NPC captain reasonably enough. There is a lot of that going around in this era. I still have plans for this era that i'd love to engage. I'll definitely shift to shorter scenarios. The bigger ones seem too long to sustain in PbP. Who else is still around? Should we continue here or drop this?

Grand Lodge

Female Drow Ninja 6th level Max HP 34, AC

I am still here and wanting to continue of course. Since I wish to do so as engineer I am all for an NPC captain. Medium length missions seem to work when we are all engaged in tasks where ever we are and trying to solve the various issues.

So it looks like we have three players, one who might need to change characters due to personal constraints. I'm happy to run an NPC captain. That seems easy enough. The captain might be the most constrained member of the crew in this era.

Should we do a recruitment to get one more? I think if we proceed with three we will have to houserule a bit to make everything work.

Rank: Captain. Determination 1, Stress 0/9

Yeah, recruiting another player sounds like a good idea. I'll start brainstorming a new character. :-)

Stress 5/10

Another player seems wise, two might be worth considering in case retention remains an issue.
