Yup - I joined a bit later when the original sorcerer had to stop playing. There was a tournament in Brindol and all the original five players were tournament champs. There was then a couple of other adventures - a halfling slaving ring, thieves guild, stuff like that to get us up to level 5 where the module/campaign actually starts. I would tell you to read it, but the campaign is up to almost 4000 posts which would take a while even if you are a fast reader.
If you were a witch, you could be living in the Witchwood (kinda funny how that works) and be fleeing from the hobgoblins or something. You could join the party to defeat the hobbys to get your home and land back or something like that. Let me talk to DM Harpwizard and see what he wants to do.

Just think about what you want, we are just starting out on this current part of the game and I think that a druid or a cleric would be fine. I will talk with DM Harpwizard and find out what he wants to do.

![]() It is a competition. It is unlikely we will win, but we need to try out best, we are the Harbringers, we do not let others beat us. We are going to be competing against skilled professionals who have many more years experience than us. Lets enter what competitions we want, it will only take a few days. During that time, we attempt to gain an audience with the master so that we can discuss the trade pact. Considering that the tournament is such a big deal here, I would be amazed if a bunch of nobodies could get an audience with him until after the competition anyway. Lets use all the resources we have. Compete in the competition while simultaneously seeking to get an audience with the master. If we succeed in meeting with him earlier, we can call it a day, pack up and head out. There is no reason to only entertain one method of contacting the master. ![]()

![]() Was reading over the Item Creation and realized that I do not actually need to use or even have the required spells. I just take a +5 on the item creation. Thus, I can start making other stuff - my upgraded headband, handy haversacks, etc, while still using my ability to make +1 and +2 gear. On the first day in the city, once I have gotten a room I will use my ability to make a +2 Headband of Intellect and will then start to upgrade it to a +2 Headband of Mental Prowess (Int/Wis). I am doing this without using the Owl's Wisdom spell, so the spellcraft will be at -5. DM Nimon: Value of +2 Headband --> 4k --> value of components not needed -->2k Cost of +2/+2 --> 10k --> component cost --> 5k Cost to create = 5k-2k = 3k-5% = 2,850
I will use my money and borrow 1500 from Belor or someone else, Xi or Jaz probably. Time to create - I think it should be 6 days. 10k = 10 days, minus 4k = 4 days --> time required should be 6 days at normal speed.

Yes, I am bias since I am the one who spent my feat on a Creation feat, but I do not know if this is really good. Part of the fun of this game is seeing what you get. If it is worthless to you then it either goes to someone else, or else the party sells it and buys something else. Technically we all know each other, but we are not family, we are not lifelong friends. In the real world, if you were in a business partnership and one partner got something big, a huge bonus or a payment in the form of a material - say a home. You would not just say, well, you have a bigger family, I will wait until we get another house. No, you would demand that the person receiving the home made monetary restitution. This is what should be done. So far, this campaign has been very magic heavy. Based on the WBL table, we are all above, and likely to get even farther above with my ability. My vote is to give out fairly random treasure. Yes, I would like a +6 Headband of Mental Superiority, but do not expect one. I may start creating a +4/+4 Wis/Int headband, but that is the game. If your design as a DM is to buff us up and stick us against mega-encounters, that is fine. But the game is designed for a balance and we should keep it that way so that it stays mysterious and interesting. So far I am having fun, and hope that this group can get it all together. I don't agree with the methods and techniques demanded by certain individuals, but for the sake of the game, I stopped fighting. If I find that the play has become unfun, then I will post my concerns and if things do not change, resign. I hope that this does not happen, but it has before in campaigns I am in and expect it to happen in the future. I only ask you Nimon, as the DM, to keep the game fun and challenging for you and for us. Do not make changes to appease 1 or 2 players which you will regret later when you have to start sticking mega-monsters to make any combat challenging. It is just as much fun to fight a tribe of tough goblins as a fleet of red dragons if the balance is right. In both the death of your character is possible. Lets keep it fun and make the game a challenge, both for our PCs and for our creative minds on how to handle difficult situations without just having a Wand of Kill Everything or a Potion of Immortality. ![]()

![]() The simple fact is that PF has established a system which balances items by gp value. A +1 weapon is 2k, a +1 shield is 1k, a +2 Headband is 4k, etc. If loot split is not balanced, then someone is always going to feel like they were cheated. In this game I really do not care. I am the creator and I if I wanted to, I could make myself anything I want and just say screw the rest of you. I do not plan on doing that, however, since I am a strong believer in equality, I will try to balance things out. Thus, if someone gets a +4 weapon, I will probably give the next few +1 and +2 items to someone else. The way the DM is working magic, I do not think that we are going to have to worry about being under powered, on the contrary, we should be thinking more about our characters and the game so that it is fun for all. With all the power we have been given, we all know that the monsters and scenarios we are going to see will be tough and require creative roll playing. ![]()

Buy something made of mithral or adamantine, let me give it a +1, then hire someone to add any special abilities - shadow, keen, etc. Once you have it upgraded, I can increase it to +2, or +3 in a few levels. This will save a ton of cash. It will usually cost 6k (8k-2k) to get the equipment upgraded. If I then increase it to +2, you end up with a 16k weapon for about 7k. A pretty good deal in my opinion. ![]() DM Nimon: Ok - on day 1, this was the day we arrived at the first town. I would have used the first level spells to create a +1 crossbow for myself. If I can find someone to upgrade my crossbow to Keen, then I will use my other level 1 spells and my level 2 spells to create two magic scimitars (or whatever other weapon appears popular in the area.) and will sell these to generate enough cash to pay to have the crossbow Keened. If no such person appears available or we are unlikely to return to the town, then I will hold off on the selling weapons, and instead create a +2 Headband of Intellect for myself and a suit of +1 Studded Leather for Jaz. Once I identify a viable mage who can upgrade my Crossbow in a town we are likely to be in for 3-6 days, I will create the selling weapons. Sorry for the confusion, it would be much easier if we were staying in one place, but I will get this figured out. I think what I will do in the future is to create the items right before bedtime since this is when I will know what spells, if any, I have used. Also, can I craft an item using my Craft Wondrous Items and also create an item with my skills the same day? ![]() Man - I posted this like 3 hours ago, no clue where it went: Ok all, so that I am not useless to the party if I am trying to avoid casting spells, here is what I plan on doing. First, I will magic my crossbow, I will also create two other magic weapons, one moderate strength and one basic. These I will sell to a local merchant. With those funds, I should be able to afford to have a local mage make my crossbow Keen so that it hits much harder. Then, starting tomorrow I will begin to create as many useful items for the rest of as I can on a daily basis. The key question is how long we plan on staying in the town. My guess is that it will take a mage between 3 and 6 days to improve my crossbow. In this time, I should be able to get everyone simple protective cloaks and rings. And also start on headbands and belts to improve our physical and mental faculties. I figure that this would be best for the group. If someone thinks we should move on faster that is fine, but personally a little down time after being kidnapped, enslaved, and dragged across a desolate magic void wasteland would be nice. After hearing Xidieus: Nice sword, I do not think that I have the skills to create such a fine weapon yet, perhaps someday. ![]()

![]() DM Nimon: Would this work? Since you indicated that magic items are 5% cheaper here, a +2 weapons (+1 Keen Crossbow) should cost 7600. If I make a +2 weapon to sell and make my crossbow +1, then it should cost 5500 to Keen the crossbow. If I can sell a magic weapon for 50% of base, then I should get 3800 for the weapon I sell leaving me 1700 short. If I also made another +1 weapon, could I also sell that for 1900? Or at least 1700? . The end result would be all my ability for 1 day, with me having a +1 Keen Crossbow. I would then upgrade it to +2 at some point in the future after getting people other stuff. ![]()

![]() Once we have gotten our errands run and are gathered together for dinner: Ok all, I do not know how exiting the Mana Wastes affected you all, but I seem to have gained the ability to transfer my magical abilities directly into an item. For instance I can transfer all my weak spells into a sword and then it is an ordinary basic magical sword. Likewise, I can transfer all my stronger spells into a ring and it will be a moderately strong protective ring. I ran by a store this afternoon and got some decent equipment, headbands, belts, cloaks and rings which I plan on magicking. Should anyone wish for something nicer - say a gold and diamond ring instead of the simple silver bands I bought, you will have to purchase the basic item them yourself and then I will magic what you purchased. As I say this I am looking at Xidieus and rolling my eyes. I could easily sell this stuff in almost any village or town and make some good money, but I think for the benefit of our cause, these magic items will be best in the party. Thus, my plan is to make anything requested. Remember, I am limited to 1 moderate strength item and 2 weak items per day at present - I will be able to make stronger items soon hopefully. Also, I can only make an item like this if I do not use any of my spells for a day, so we shall have to decide whether we as a group want my arcane and divine skills during a combat, or if I should stay as a crossbowwoman until it appears that more power is needed. I plan on making a magical crossbow for myself, so I should be fairly good. Also, before we entered the Mana Wastes, I had trained in crafting magical items the old fashioned way - through hard labor. I can craft items this way as well, these items can be quite powerful, but will usually take about 1 day per 1000 gp value of the item. All that I ask for this is that you pay 10% of the value for items that I can craft quickly and the cost of the components plus 10% for the items which I have to slowly craft over a period of days. This will allow me to purchase items which I cannot craft. DM Nimon - If I make a weapon, can I only make it +1 or +2, or could I make a Keen Crossbow +1 with second level spells. And do I need the underlying spells for this? ![]()

![]() Ok - Here is my plan:
My plan is as follows.
Next round of items -
Note - as others request, I can make more stuff so as to share the wealth.
Also, if you do not want one of these, let me know. To make an item, I cannot use any spells of that level per day. I can also make lots of +1 items - rings, weapons, etc. So let me know what you want, Rings of Protection, Bracers +1, Weapons, etc. This is several weeks worth of work, so things may well change as we go. Once I am done with this, I will take requests for Crafting items - same deal, you pay for the cost of the item +10% ie - Belt of Str/Dex+2 = 10k value = 5k cost, you pay 5,500 (actually it would probably be 3300 for these since you should already have a Belt of Dex+2 that can be upgraded). ![]()

DM Nimon - please let me know how much this is. Once I am done, I will head to the Inn and get a room - I will share with Xara if she wants - and then take a bath to get rid of the days of dust and grime. EDIT - Also, if anyone in the party is willing to lend me 1200gp, I would like to begin working on making a Headband of Mental Prowess. ![]() Personally, the Staff does not interest me and I would be up for selling it. It uses up a fairly high level spell each day to recharge and all we truly get out of it is Detect Undead, which is a first level spell that I can create scrolls of for use any time we want, or create a wondrous item - brooch, headband, belt, whatever the DM allows - which does Detect Undead at will, this should only cost 1k-2k I think. Also, in addition to creating wondrous items. I can use spells to create basic magic items and weapons, so let me know what you want so that I can determine the cost and how long it will take. Yes, it feels good to be back in the land of magic. I create little bolts of electricity and fire them at a stone on the ground. DM Nimon: Since I have not used any spells, I would like to buy three dozen or so inexpensive rings and several cloaks and begin to make magic items. I will create a Cloak of Protection +2 and 2 Rings +1 the first day. Also, several belts and headbands. I plan on creating a Headband of Intellect +2 and then upgrade it to a Headband +2 Int/+2 Wis/+2 Cha before long, I assume it will take a little while to get enough to get it to +4 or +6. Or could I use all my level 2 spells and create a headband of intellect +2? In other words, is this a shortcut for saving time on creating magic items? I was planning on buying stuff for 2k (or 4k if I have the money), and then start to work on a headband to increase my int/wis. Am I understanding that I can just make it now? Sorry for the confusion, just want to make sure that I get it right.
