Jazismus is slightly shocked at all the talk of joining these competitions. "We should perhaps lay low. And better yet be done with what we came here to do before the Gebbites get here, and be gone." he says with a furrowed brow.

Yes Xideus each one you bring down is one less to fight later... as I make my way to a place were me and Trig can spar.

"Now, Belros, don't be too rough on him. E TES Whiley when I have to resummon him."

Trig sticks his tongue out at her, but deposits his magical gear someplace and goes to train with Belros.

"No flaming fists, though," she says. "If you're going to enter the magicless competition, you have to avoid anything that hints at magic."

Was reading over the Item Creation and realized that I do not actually need to use or even have the required spells. I just take a +5 on the item creation. Thus, I can start making other stuff - my upgraded headband, handy haversacks, etc, while still using my ability to make +1 and +2 gear.

On the first day in the city, once I have gotten a room I will use my ability to make a +2 Headband of Intellect and will then start to upgrade it to a +2 Headband of Mental Prowess (Int/Wis). I am doing this without using the Owl's Wisdom spell, so the spellcraft will be at -5.

Upon hearing Jaz's suggestion Akor replies "Surprised you feel that way Jaz. I would think you of all people who relish a chance to perform and show off. However, I must disagree, I think this is a perfect opportunity to not only attain some personal achievements, but to also further both our quest as others have stated and perhaps to gain some good will to our overall cause. We are not exactly looked upon in the most favorable of lights, but if we can win some competions here, and help the city out in our victories, that might go far to convincing people we aren't just a bunch of crazies pursuing an impossible goal"

After hearing Akor:

Agreed - however, we need to talk to the master. What better way to gain his attention than by doing well, or even winning, some of the competitions. This would assuredly give us access to him which we would not otherwise have.

"And it is excellent cover for our being here as well. It's not like the Gebbites are going to suddenly come over to us, point their fingers, and shout, 'There are the Harbingers!', which brings up my other point, Akor, I don't think we should compete as ourselves. Bringing glory to the Harbingers also brings notice to our activities. We want to meet with the guy with as little scrutiny as possible, and certainly nothing to connect us to the newly-raised base of operations for the Harbingers in Alkenstar which just happened to recently strike a deal for trade with Nex..."

"Well if we do win, it will mark us as champions to the Gebbites, leaving our clandestine operations in ruins. We will be recognized easily, and if our deal to undercut their trade with Alkenstar takes light we will be effectively useless within Geb. It is a tough call, but who could expect champions to be mere messengers and deal-brokers?"

Xideus pauses a moment to think things over, "We would have to ensure the deal is brokered in the most secure of settings."

"Oh, you have it all wrong Akor. I am fighting myself deeply to keep from wanting to join in, but our mission must come first." the bard says lightly strumming his harp.

"We put our mission into Geb on hold to do this for Alkenstar, and now I worry that maybe we made a mistake. I only wish to complete it successfully and be off. I do wish we didn't have anything holding us back from competing but I believe we do."

"I think we should schedule a meeting as soon as possible. Then we should be gone from here. What do you all believe we should do?" he asks setting the harp aside.

"Then how about a compromise? We net the competition as a cover, make sure that we don't become champions. As much as that grates."

It is a competition. It is unlikely we will win, but we need to try out best, we are the Harbringers, we do not let others beat us. We are going to be competing against skilled professionals who have many more years experience than us. Lets enter what competitions we want, it will only take a few days. During that time, we attempt to gain an audience with the master so that we can discuss the trade pact. Considering that the tournament is such a big deal here, I would be amazed if a bunch of nobodies could get an audience with him until after the competition anyway.

Lets use all the resources we have. Compete in the competition while simultaneously seeking to get an audience with the master. If we succeed in meeting with him earlier, we can call it a day, pack up and head out. There is no reason to only entertain one method of contacting the master.

"Jaz, the girls words carry much wisdom. Not only that, but we could use a break after all we've been through lately. I don't think we have much to worry about. Its not like we're going to advertise who we are, nor why we're here. So nobody will have any reason think we're anything beyond what we claim."

"What's the point of entering a competition without becoming champions?" Xideus grins and slinks back in his chair, crossing his outstretched legs. "Well, to compromise, lets try to discretely make this deal tomorrow and see what challenges we face. Then we can decide about the competition. Sound fair?" He looks to Jaz, "Mr. Kanon, you have been diplomatic in the past, perhaps you and one other from our group should seek an audience with this lord and try to strike the deal. Sound fair?"

Ok, either I am blind or a long post from earlier did not post. I think Belor and I discussed earlier that I could borrow some funds to create my Headband. I need a total of 1500, actually 1300. Belor if you have this much, I will take it all from you, if not, anyone else who as a little free cash let me know and I will pay it back in items within a day or three.

It sounds like you all want to join the competition, and Herani would like some time to create some items. I am going to continue on with that in mind to the next day.

You are standing in line to register with the magistrate for the various competitions. There is people from all over Golarion signing up, luckily you got here early and beat the crowd. A large half-orc with a great-axe on his back is boosting, I do not know why the rest of you even signed up for the Single Combatant tournament, I will win it easily, why don't the rest of you just go home now and avoid embaressment?

Since I had no direct requests for +1 items, I will make 2 +1 Cloak of Resistances as well as my +2 Headband of Intellect. One goes to Belor and one to whoever kicks in the other 500 gold I need.

I go with the others to sign up before starting to work on my headband when the temperature starts to rise. I will sign up for the cross disciplinary magic competition.

I look at the Half-Orc: Wow, I didn't know that Belkzen allowed half breeds out, I thought that all the warriors were kept to lead the armies and only the weak were chased out.

Jazismus concedes to the majority and adds that he will seek to get a meeting with Vor as soon as he can.

Next day

Standing in line Jazismus starts to fidget. He has thought long and hard about the event he should enter and still is undecided when it is his turn to sign up.

Hearing the half-orc barking he almost wishes he could go up against the blow-hard, but that isn't his expertise. "I wish to sign up for the mu..." he starts to say and stops. An idea forms so quickly he wonders if he should take the chance. ...the muscle and brawn category. Singles combat no magic." he says to everyone's shock.

The half-orc laughs until his insides hurt. Jazismus turns and looking very serious he speaks to Herani without taking his eyes off the half-orc.

"I think they also send away the pretty ones, because they tend to mess up the armies intimidation factor." he adds with a smirk.

Use Ensemble to add to Herani's roll.

"They also kick out the ones who still wet themselves at the sight of an elf," Xara chimes in, adding again with the Ensemble feat.

She signs up for the Combat: With Help competition.

As my turn comes up Well I'm here to sign up for the single combat no magic and looking at the orc after signing my entry Just don't run like a sissy when we meet in the tournament, because I heard you can squeal like a pig and witha big grin in my face and just starting to walk away Suppose that's what the orc nose is for after all

And they begin to cause a scene...

Xideus walks silently up to the magistrate when his turn comes. Put me down for the Magus Division. The name? Why yes, it is... is Optimus Prime."

Noting that the magistrate is not taken by the name, he sighs and speaks further, "Its my stage name of course, not my real name." He leans in closer and whispers to the magistrate, "The real name is Xideus Delorne."

As the Half-Orc walks off Akor says "Pretty sure that was the longest, most intelligent sentence I've ever heard out of one of those ugly half-breed's mouths."

Upon seeing some of the crowd pay a bit more attention to them when purple eyes are mentioned the Inquisitor attempts to quash their curiosity "Relax good people. Yes, my friends have purple eyes, but they aren't real. We just use simple magicks to make our eyes appear different colors for performance sake. I cast a Jolt cantrip and play with the electricity for a minute, eventually discharging it into the ground.

After watching Xi look around a bit paranoid. You do realize that most people from Geb are undead, or soon to be undead?

No Gebbites yet, should be in two days. They are mostly undead so will probably have to take precautions during daylight, so will most likly arrive at night. This is the reason for the ban on channle possitive energy except in the tournaments or in the temple district. There is a simular ban on channle negative in effect.

"It is always good to keep an eye out. Who knows when someone will jump out and wipe our memory... again." Xideus goes about dusting off his shoulder as he waits for the rest of the group to finish their registration.

After signing up and having a little fun at the orcs expense Jazismus asks, "What is next?"

We're here, just waiting for the action to proceed now that we've all signed up for the competition.

Xara suggests that, now that they've signed up, they get some lunch and look for places to train.

I was waiting for everyone to finish their interaction with the Magistrate.

"Now that we are finished with that formality. I believe the plan was to request an audience with an old friend. I had originally suggested that Jazismus and one other go as not to draw too much attention." Xideus begins walking off to go find Velznic Mor. "But we can all go."

I shall return to the house to continue working on my headband. If anyone else wants to return with me, I would not turn the company or extra protection if someone decides to invade our new home.

I return to the home with whoever wants to join me.

I work 8 hours and then will go out in the evening to listen for rumors and anything else important.

Jazismus takes a deadly wound from the javelin and after pulling it out of his thigh he limps to the nearest cover. Safely tucked behind a corner of a building he begins casting a spell to mend his gruesome wound.

Trig is also present, so he might take hits as well.

Before people get too separated, Xara will slap a haste spell on everybody, then move to take cover.

Trig would delay until after Xara, but it doesn't look like he needs to, since he would go right after anyway. He looks about for any assailants on the roofs, and if he spots one, takes off into the air at him (fly speed 70 with haste.

It is up to you Nimon, but it always seems easier if the DM just rolls all the inits and lists the order at the beginning. Just my 2 cents.

Akor summons forth the wrath of his goddess, and a shimmering yellow aura springs up around him as he ducks for cover. He then calls upon his magickal abilities to further enhance his already formidable senses and attempts to find these assailants. Swift action to activate Judgement(Protection) increasing my AC by 2. Move action to duck behind anything with cover. Standard action casting Acute Senses gaining a +10 to Perception.
