Hey everyone. I hate to do this, but I've been super swamped with work and life since this whole Covid thing broke out, and it doesn't seem like it will die down any time soon. I just don't have the time and energy to devote to the game that it deserves. Unfortunately I think the only fair thing to do is bow out so maybe someone that has more availability will be able to play. It was tons of fun! <3
Sorry everyone, I've been super slammed at work. I probably wont get a chance to catch up and make a post until Mondayish. =(
Winton: Harmond things for a moment before responding. "I think its safe to say that we would ask the crown to respect our sovereign authority in our lands. I couldn't just abandon mother and father like that. As to the business charter, I'm absolutely certain that can be arranged. I don't forsee any problems there. Father has never been a stranger to hard work." he pointedly does not comment on their mother.
Winton:
"That is...disheartening to hear. What can I do to help? I, of course, have some influence here at court, but I am not exactly in possession of an excess of funds. We need to make sure mother understands the severity of the situation. You've got to lead her to an idea you know. Let her think she was the one that came up with it. Harmond says with a mischievous smirk. As the singing and dancing goes on Harmond watches with rapt attention. He doesn't seem to notice or care about the lack of skill on the part of the string players.
Winton:
Harmond's eyes go wide at his brother's statement. "Thats.... I don't understand. How could they be so foolish? Harmond sighs. "Well, you should send father to talk to Lord Ahto. We could probably use more tax collector's with Tamlyn's continued growth. How is mother taking int?" Harmond seems genuinely impressed by the menagerie until the others point out that the exhibits are all fake. When the dwarf reveal happens he actually breaks down into a brief fit of laughter before composing himself. "I don't know. Maybe we are being a bit harsh? That mer-monkey was a bit of genius. Maybe he just needs more honest advertising? Perhaps instead of calling it Morto's Menagerie it could be Morto's Can You Believe It? Lean into the premise of trying to figure out what is fake and what is real?"
Winton: Harmond stops with his brother with a friendly smile. "Sure thing! What can I do for you?"
Harmond comes over and looks. "Let me see... He pulls out a pair of spectacles and begins looking over the stone
After a few moments he takes the glasses off and puts them away. "Its an elemental gem! If you crush it you can summon a water elemental to serve you for a short time."
While Ahto dresses the turtle Harmond keeps an eye on the surroundings, not having the stomach for the more gruesome aspects of butchery.

----------------------- "Miss Prong, watch out!" Harmond sends his elemental to chase the turtle before pointing his wand at it and shooting off a bolt of acid.
Seeing the turtle's massive shell Harmond flares his cloak, spinning it in a dramatic fashion chanting arcane words. In the cloaks wake, there stands a small water elemental ready to do his bidding. "Hello little fellow. That turtle over there is a problem. Can you help us stop it?" with that, the elemental zooms off to engage the turtle.
As the others are preparing Harmond will cast Mage Armor Heightened Awareness and False Life on himself. Once buffed he stands near the back ready to attack as soon as the turtle reveals itself.
Harmond muses, "She can't be too bad if your friend has visited her a couple of times. Did he ever elaborate on why he visited?"
Harmond gathers together all his gear, and is awake bright and early in the morning to set out on the trip. He seems energized and excited to get going. "Ok. Lets do this. I feel like I've been cooped up for months. I'm really looking forward to getting out there and helping people again. You know, making a real difference."
Harmond remains silent, looking anywhere but at the retreating Miss Tremaine, blushing furiously.

Harmond nods. "Perhaps. My mother in particular will probably love it. She is always attending parties and and feasts."
Harmond looks down at his shoes as he answers. "Eunomia was... I... Sometimes its hard to contradict them."
Harmond frowns "No, they didn't mention it at all. Although my mother seemed to be under the impression that they would be moving into the keep... he says sheepishly.
"I wish. No. My family seems to have moved into town. I moved here to escape them!" He pauses taking a deep breath. "Its not that they are bad. I love them. I really do. Its just they can be so.... overbearing."
Harmond looks quite... frazzled. "I think... bad? Yes. Definitely bad. Maybe awful. Its hard to say. I'm not really sure. I think the world is ending."
The Yard of Courts: Harmond looks at Eunomia sheepishly.
"Yeah, so that was awkward. Sorry about that. I... I still don't understand what they are doing here. I'm pretty sure that was the entire household. Who is looking after the estate back in Brevoy? There s no way father would just abandon their responsibility back home."
The Courtyard: Harmond returns the hug from his mother, taking extra care not to ruffle her dress and gets his hand thoroughly crushed by his father's grip. "Build a manor for the... oh thats not... I mean...?" Harmond looks around nervously making pleading eye contact with Eunomia.
Harmond steps out to greet his family waiting in the courtyard. "Mother, Father. Its such a pleasant surprise to see you all here! Everyone. At once? I'm so glad you decided to visit." He begins to go in for a hug from his mother before looking around, and standing up straighter, trying to present a professional appearance. His eyes shift around nervously looking to Eunomia for support, unsure how he should react.
GM:
I'm content with you making up the details. My only real thoughts are that his mother (human) is a NE follower of Urgathoa, who is all in on the gluttony aspects (and maybe others....?) as well as being your typical scheming noble. I imagine she would be the type to spoil her children at every opportunity. His father (half elf) is a LN follower of Abadar and a stickler for rules and procedure. He's probably also far too busy to bother with his kids, once again traditional nobleman style. I hadn't really given any thought to the rest of his family, so feel free to make it up! I'll roll with whatever you come up with. =) Harmond's jaw drops as he sees his entire family in the courtyard. "That.... is unexpected. I.. I think that's the entire House." He seems at a loss for words.
Harmond nods to Eunomia and takes a deep breath"Ok, lets do it."
Harmond looks grateful when Eunomia offers to join him. Oh, you can definitely come. I think company would be appreciated. Yes. Definitely appreciated. He looks around nervously I'm assuming this is my parents, or maybe their representatives. I have no idea if they are going to be angry I ran off, or proud of what we've accomplished here, or both, or neither, or... I don't know!
Harmond seems to somehow look a mix of pleasantly surprised and subtly terrified at the mention of visitors here to see him. "Visitors you say? I... you didn't get names did you? Maybe descriptions? Did they say what they wanted? Where are they? I'm not prepared for visitors! I need to change!" With that he runs off without waiting for answers to any of his questions. He returns 30 minutes later cleaned and dressed in his best. "Ok, visitors. I am prepared to receive them."
"We only wish to help you and your kind. We can all live in harmony, but in order to do that we must come together, and forge an understanding between our peoples. Any endeavor worth doing requires that we put in the work to set it up first. I for one look forward to all the great things to come from our alliance."
I love Always prepared. My wife had Brilliant Planner on an Occultist for our Return of the Runelords game and used it to great effect damn near constantly. For my level up I am grabbing Empower Spell and the Energy Blast focus power as well as gaining the Aura Sight class feature.
"More fire. Yes, thats a great idea! Harmond waves his wand and calls forth a bolt of fire to attack the tree as his flaming sphere continues to burn its base.
"Lets see how well you handle a bit of fire"
Harmond pulls a wand from his bag and touches it to himself twice in preparation for the coming fight.
Harmond settles down and reads a book before settling down for the night.
Harmond stares at Wonky, mouth slightly opened, clearly impressed.
Harmond nods along with Vixens statement. "I don't see how we couldn't help you. It is out duty to protect the citizens of this realm."
"I'm sure we can sort it out for you. What do you need?" Harmond says with a slight smirk.
Harmond listens respectfully, reserving his comments on Fae and the law until the right time.
When the Nixie speaks about her concern over the trees Harmond gets concerned. With a moments thought he speaks to Ahto. "That is a very good point our nixie friend brings up. With the expansion we are undergoing, our woodcutters will be cutting down trees. How do we ensure that they do not trespass on trees already owned by the various fae denizens of the realm? I think it is in everyone's best interest that harmony between both fae and mortal be maintained. Surely we can enact a robust set of protections for them that still allow the woodcutters to make a living."
Harmond says what comes to his mind, the thought being so preposterous that he can't help himself. "I am suddenly deeply curious as to how a unicorn, with no hands, manages to brew mead." He catches himself as soon as the words escape his mouth. "Apologies for my outburst. I am Harmond Orlovsky" he says with a deep bow, "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
Harmonds eyes widen slightly at the sight of the two creatures. He has a fairly robust theoretical knowledge of the fey, but until journeying out into the river kingdoms he hadn't had the opportunity to see them in person. Especially not ones as big as normal people. He leans over and speaks softly to Wonky so as not to be overheard by them. "Look! What do you think they are? I bet the big one is a satyr, but what about the lady? A dryad? A nymph? Maybe a siren?"
I'm sorry for your loss. Take whatever time you need to recover.
Harmond heads strait to the punch bowl and pours himself two glasses. The first one gets downed rather quickly, as he heads towards the stacks. He nurses the second one as he browses the collection occasionally pulling out a book to flip through it. Eventually he finds one that pulls him in and he spends the rest of the evening reading, pausing to engage in polite conversation whenever approached. When he runs out of drink he makes sure to refill his cup. By the end of the night he is well and truly wasted.
Harmond nods, not taking his eyes off the stage. "Yes, I can't wait to get my hands on some new books. Also these kind of ceremonies really are good for citizen morale. I had missed them quite a bit.
Harmond watches in all his noble finery, applauding when appropriate, "ooh"ing and "ahh"ing at all the right times. He truly seems to relish the opportunity to dress up and attend official functions.
Harmond leans over and whispers to Wonky "Was that a joke? I think Mr. Ulrych just told a joke"
"Well, if they are sociable, there is no reason not to talk to them. If we are just now hearing about them there is a good change that they will have not heard of our newfound land. We should introduce ourselves and make sure they are familiar with us. It's important that we make sure that all the long time residents of this land feel welcome in out community."
Harmond spends an unnecessarily large amount of time watching the crew build the library, and looking through the books as they bring them in from out of town.
Harmond thinks it over for a moment. "There will almost certainly be pranks. We should definitely go." He says with a smile. "But first, I get to spend a few nights in a real bed."
"Yes, thank you for your hospitality. We really should be back to the capitol." As Harmond prepares to depart he has the opposite though. After several days of "roughing it" he is ready to get back to the steady reliability of the endless bureaucracy.
