Hmmm...let's see...Strength 16, Con 14...Eregos/Hargus is probably built like an NFL fullback, so probably around 225 lbs?

If it helps, Sveng, I'm a little over 5'8" and have what would be called a lanky build (although I've developed a bit of a gut over the past few years), and I weigh in at 185. If I put the exercise in to lose the widening of my midsection, I could probably get down to 160.

170 lbs would make sense for a tall yet slim nonathletic build, however.

...Hargus has two agents go out and gather gossip among the Senatorial class to see how their support falls between Pythareus and Eutropa.

Doing the Gather Information operation. It looks like I can only do this with 2 agents, since my facet rank in Charm is 2.

Gather Information Operation: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

After their first night at the Silent Horse, Eregos left the inn and returned to his tenement to pack up his remaining things. He made sure to look as though he was hurriedly packing to leave town, as though caught in a crime and desperately trying to evade detection. Even so, he listened to what the people in the poorer parts of town were saying, what they thought, for any such information would let them know which way the political winds blew.

That taken care of, he returned to the Silent Horse, and then Hargus went on a shopping spree, acquiring some new weapons and armor. He kept his old, though, for when Eregos needed to make an appearance, so he could keep up with the second identity.

When Martella summoned them to the meeting, he went as Hargus - the more accepted persona around the upper classes. During the carriage ride, he looked at Sveng, who seemed somewhat nervous for some reason.

He bows as Sveng does once he sees they are in the presence of Princess Eutropia. He listened carefully to her words.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

She seemed genuine - and there was the simple matter he had been in the room when assassins began slaughtering the Senators. She was, however, choosing her words with care. He suspected that she was trying to keep the identities of her 'dear friends' hidden, and he would allow her that distinction. This presented a great opportunity, though - if Princess Eutropia won the throne, he could get the Villarius name restored with an imperial declaration. He might even have the chance to speak with other nobles and see what their thoughts on his family were. He knew he would never get this chance from Pythareus, and the question of Succession was likely to come down to one of those two. In that case, how cold he refuse an offer such as this?

"Your Highness, I am honored by your offer, and will be happy to assist you in your claim for the throne."

My interest was not to be a melee character. I planned on archery to be my main martial contribution. I read that this was a more skill heavy whatdoyoucallit? adventure path? I forget. Anyway, I never have been much into skills and I figured someone else would be high charisma and I could use int for bluff and intimidate. Also, can be an effective lie detector with skill bonuses. I only have the archery because I am delicate.

Okay, great. In that case, I suggest that you focus on picking up archery feats as we go, starting with Rapid Shot at level 5 and Manyshot once you have a base attack bonus of +6. From there, get Clustered Shots to deal with DR. That will allow you to be competent and effective enough at archery to still contribute when we do have combats, while allowing you to focus more on your skills. Regardless, I would make increasing Dexterity your priority, since just because this is a more skill heavy adventure path, that doesn't mean there's no combat. It is Pathfinder, after all.

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

I wouldn't say no to a better ranged option than my 4 daggers, but it's also clearly a secondary weapon for me, to be used if I can't reach enemies.

Of course, I have a Draconic bloodrager/Dragon Disciple in a Giantslayer game who ended up with the magic longbow as loot because no one else wanted it, so it's not the first time I've gotten a magic item that ends up getting used as a backup.

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

A side effect of actually being able to afford medium armor, a boosted Dex bonus, and the Taldan Duelist feat giving an extra +1 AC when I fight with a falcata and buckler.

I also get a +2 bonus to Acrobatics, but that doesn't affect AC.

From a skill standpoint, I think we all get 6 + Int mod skill points per level. We are very good on skills.

I agree with Valeria that we need to make sure Sydney is still in. I do think we should recruit someone else who can take the front line, regardless - unless we fight in a lot of bottlenecks, a group of two or three melee enemies will be able to just move around me out of my reach and go for the squishies in back while another occupies me. Being able to create a defensive line would be good for the group's survival.

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

I believe it would be me - I have 16 Strength, which I think is better than everyone else's, and I'll be putting all stat boosts in Strength going forward. I just wanted to even out my odd Dexterity score - plus it will help me boost my AC until I get Heavy Training.

Incidentally, while I'm not done gearing myself out yet, I have boosted my AC from 19 to 25, and I'm getting my preferred equipment.

I also no longer suffer armor check penalties on Acrobatics, Escape Artist, or Stealth checks, cause the Vigilante strikes from the shadows, a ghost until his appearance strikes fear into the hearts of the villains he hunts.

At least, I will once I get Startling Appearance.

*Blinks*

*Looks at Wish List he was hoping for about 2000 gp to buy everything on.*

Well, okay then. Before I rebuild all my gear from scratch with the total amount, I'd like to make sure the GM is okay with us doing that.

As for party items, a wand of CLW and party bag of holding might be a good idea.

=============================================================

Piri: There are a couple of different ways for you to prioritize your stats, depending on how you want to utilize your studied combat and studied strike features and Investigator Talent selections.

If you intend to utilize a lot of the Studied Combat/Strike Talents (top of the page) that give saving throws, you'll want to keep your Int high in order to keep the saving throw DCs high.

However, if you don't think you'll use a lot of the talents that give saving throws, than you actually don't need an Int any higher than 18. Generally speaking, the target of your studied combat ability probably won't live longer than 4 rounds, especially since you'll hit it with a studied strike on the last round for extra damage. In that case, you should prioritize Dexterity to improve your to-hit. The bonus to studied combat comes from your investigator level, so your ability scores have no effect on the bonus.

I suggest looking over the studied strike talents and deciding if they are something you are going to want to focus on. If not, put your ability score increase in Dex. If yes, than keep the increase in Int.

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Hargus nods and assumes a protective stance directly in front of Martello so that he could intercept any blows intended for her.

Hargus picks up the chest and brings it over. "Let's give Lady Lotheed the chance to gather her things, and then we'll get out of here. My lady, was this sack of gold yours? If not, it may be the coin from whoever hired these assassins to kidnap you. With the right magic, we may be able to trace who it was from."

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Hargus nods to Piri in thanks, then circles around the group to move to the opposite side of Wyskylla from Hazel and attempts to finish her off.

A move action to circle the party and get to a flank with Hazel. My movement provokes an attack of opportunity if she has a weapon out or can make unarmed attacks.

Attack, flanking, vs prone: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 2 + 4 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

EDIT: Also, if it hasn't been updated in Roll20, My level 3 Social Talent Owl's Sight gave me low-light vision.

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Once again, Hargus shakes off the effects of the negative energy, barely noticing the cultist's strike. He swipes at the man in front of him with his falcata.

Attack, Inspire: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 1 = 12

Hazel may have rushed past the remaining grunt in the room, but Hargus stepped next to him and struck with the falcata.

I'm not sure if I can 5-foot step in the surprise round or not, but if I can, 5-foot step next to the grunt, and then standard action to attack. If I can't, I'll take a move action to get next to him.

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Hargus needs only a couple charges, as he was able to shake off the worst of the negative energy burst.

To the others he said, "Do we want to try and sneak in to attack them, or do we just want to kick down the door and charge?"

We already did the disguise bit, so I think those are our two options.

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Hargus shakes off most of the negative effects of the cultist's blast, then moves to pursue the other cultist, catching him in a flank instead of being caught in the flank for once.

Attack, flank: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Would we have gotten Attacks of Opportunity on the cultist when he moved towards Sveng.

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Can't load Roll20, so I can't see the map. Just gonna assume I can charge.

Hargus charges towards the nearest assassin, trying to cut him down.

Attack, charge: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 7 + 2 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Not seeing why they hadn't just attacked Wyssilka, Hargus follows Sveng's lead to see what his plan is.

No way to communicate my plan from discussion, plus we don't know where the barracks are, so we're just walking.

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Why are we not just attacking Wyssilka and these two? Use Sveng's silence spell in the door to avoid waking the other three, hit the two goons in here with a sleep spell, then someone can Coup de Grace those two while the rest of us gang up Wyssilka. We can finish off those three later.

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Disguise: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Seamless Guise will not apply to this one, since it doesn't involve appearing as one of my two identities.

Hargus dons the disguise of the assassin, hoping that his work is convincing.

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Piri, I will take that CLW extract.

CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Hargus was confused by Valeria's apparent irritation at his pointing out she was bigger than a halfling. He didn't see why - halflings were child-sized, after all, and Valeria was definitely not a child. Had the Gray Man had one, that likely would have fit her. Shrugging at his lack of understanding, he continued through to the next room with the others, then listened to Valeria's plan. Unfortunately, he hadn't thought to bring one of the uniforms with them from up above, and said so. "I don't have one of the uniforms from up above - I didn't think we were using them. I can go back and get one, if someone could provide me a light."

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Hargus looks at Valeria and says, "They look a little small for you - they are halfling-sized, after all."

GM's call if you can use them effectively, I think.

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Excellent, then.

Hargus takes advantage of the fact the man is prone, and strikes at him.

Hargus shakily attempts to stand up.

Acrobatics: 1d20 ⇒ 19

He succeeds, but rather than continuing to rush forwards, he lets Valeria attempt to convince the gray-skinned humanoid to allow them to approach easily.

With the Silent Initiate down, Hargus runs past him and up the stairs. Seeing the grease puddle he slows down, and attempts to carefully move through it.

He steps into the beginning of the grease puddle, then feels his feet starting to slide, and manages to catch himself before he falls.

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

It isn't that much better...

No flank because of the crates.

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Hargus grits his teeth as Hazel rushes past him and cuts off his direct access to the Silent Initiate. Her headstrong rush stops me from killing him to clear the way to that gray-skinned one.

Hargus decides there was no sense standing in the logjam, and instead looks to climb over the crates to get after him.

Climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

I don't know how many Climb checks I need to move through the two squares of crates in front of me. If I need more than two, I'll roll the extras.

Male Human Vigilante (avenger) 4 | HP 31/31 | AC 25 | T 14 | FF 21 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +2 | Perception +8; low-light vision

Hargus stops laughing and stands, a look of anger on his face, and begins to move off after the gray-skinned humanoid. I'll teach him to mess with my mind like that. Making me laugh. I'll gut him.

Stand and move after the gray-skinned humanoid.

Suddenly, Hargus finds the whole situation to be rather hilarious. I mean, really, they were assaulting a warehouse full of assassins by coming in through one of the doors and fighting in the confined space. And no one else saw the humor in this? It was ridiculous! It was entirely a farce and a joke.

"He...he...haha..haha..hahahahahahah!" Hargus suddenly bursts out laughing, doubling over as he falls to the ground and laughs at just how ridiculous the whole situation is.

GM, do I get to roll a new Will save each turn as a full-round action to try and end the effect? I've rolled mine for the current round below, just in case.

Good. Now Hargus can do something stupid.

With the threats on his side of the entry apparently neutralized, Hargus told Adrian, "Have your creature watch the flanks." He then moved through the group and over the bodies in order to get to the new threats who had just appeared, striking at the gray-skinned man.

Hargus gritted his teeth as he barely avoided taking a blow to a vital organ from the guard. Still, at least their attack had a silver lining - he didn't have to expose his back to anyone who might come from behind and try to stab him there. He struck at the foe before him with his falcata, the magic shield from the library held before him.

1) Full Base Attack Bonus

2) Access to the Armor Skin Vigilante Talent:
Armor Skin (Ex) (Ultimate Intrigue pg. 13): The vigilante’s armor is like a second skin. He doesn’t apply the armor check penalty for light and medium armor on Acrobatics, Escape Artist, or Stealth checks. This penalty applies on other skill checks as normal. At 8th level, he can move at full speed in medium armor.

3) Access to the Heavy Training Vigilante Talent:
Heavy Training (Ex) (Ultimate Intrigue pg. 14): The vigilante gains Heavy Armor Proficiency as a bonus feat, if he does not have that feat already. The armor skin vigilante talent also applies to heavy armor. At 16th level, if the vigilante has the armor skin vigilante talent, he can move at full speed in heavy armor. Only an avenger vigilante can select this talent.

4) Access to the Shield of Fury Talent:
Shield of Fury (Ex) (Ultimate Intrigue pg. 16): The vigilante gains Improved Shield Bash as a bonus feat. If he already has the Improved Shield Bash feat, he can immediately swap it for another feat for which he qualified at the level he chose Improved Shield Bash. In addition, if he is at least 6th level, he is treated as if he has the Two-Weapon Fighting feat as long as one of the weapons used is a shield. This allows him to take feats that require Two-Weapon Fighting as a prerequisite without meeting the Two-Weapon Fighting or Dexterity prerequisites, but these feats only apply while he is wielding a shield as one of his weapons (unless he takes Two-Weapon Fighting as normal, in which case this restriction is lifted).

The intent of this character was to create a PC who fights in the Rondolero fighting style (buckler + falcata), but is Strength-based and does so wearing heavy armor. To that end, I have already taken the Taldan Duelist feat, which will boost my AC with a buckler, and will be taking the Upsetting Shield Style feats, which allow me to shield bash with said buckler. Of the talents listed above, I already intended to take all three of them, starting with Armor Skin at level 4. Heavy Training was intended to be taken at level 8, but can easily be done at level 6 if it would be better for the group to do so.

The Vigilante talents give the benefits of a lot of feats, and count as those feats for the purposes of filling prerequisites. The Avenger Viglante can, potentially, wind up with as many feats as a Fighter has, while simultaneously having a better Reflex save and more skill points. The only thing I don't have that a proper tank would have is a d10 hit die.

That being said, if you would like to switch to a more martial character, however, yet still maintain a little "bardiness", as it were, might I suggest the Exemplar Brawler? The Standard Bearer Cavalier into the Battle Herald prestige class would accomplish the same thing, and you'll need a level of bard to qualify for the prestige class anyway.

Hargus attempts to quietly move into the room, looking towards the group of 4 playing cards. He crouches down behind a crate at a likely-looking bottleneck.
