Liberty's Edge

I lurk for the most part.

also I take periodic breaks from the forums to avoid giving myself hype burnout.

Company Goals: Acquismurftion of Mushrooms

I think you've had quite enough of those already.

I have to say, though, this post did make me laugh.

Liberty's Edge

seems like a good idea to me.

Liberty's Edge

mainly Super Monday Night Combat ( I just love the announcers) and various single player games as the mood strikes me.

Liberty's Edge

2 people marked this as a favorite.

holy crap, all of my favorite book series are being referenced.

I'm inclined to think that a static set of resource pool is a good way to go. Everyone always has something like 100 HP 100 Stamina and 100 Mana. Rather than gaining more of them you simply gain abilities to change the rates at which they are lost.

I agree, this is probably the best way to go about it.

That's a primary goal for me too. Aren't you listed as a member of The Empyrean Order? One of our sub-guilds, the Azure Astra Arcanum, would be perfect for that.

so it would (I've been gone since before there was an "Azure Astra Arcanum")

I just registered!

day doesn't really matter for me, an hour earlier (7pm pacific) would be best. but time isn't really critical for me right now.

I'm hoping they use long cooldowns sparingly. I'd much rather see spell-casting be a fatiguing activity, that if done "too much, too fast" will leave me exhausted.

I'd like to see Wizards have to choose which spells they'll prepare, but not be limited by a number of times they can cast it (see above for how I'd like to see this limited). I think, though, that Wizards should be able to change which spells they have prepared fairly easily out of combat, although it should probably take enough time to really irritate your group if you're choosing an entirely new set of spells. Maybe something like 15 seconds per spell level being changed, so that you can spend 1 minute to change one 4th level spell.

I really, REALLY, like this idea.

I have always wanted to play a wizard in a tower. With a low level dungeon underneath. Sooo first edition but I'm "Old School" that way. :)

you are not alone.

and I've never been within spitting distance of first edition

This is not a high order concern--on screen representations are not what will make or break a gaming experience. But this is something that has always bothered me in games: over the top animations for low level characters. There's something that really bugs me about a 1st level spell like cure light wounds having a spell animation that is comparable to a ninth level spell. I'd much prefer a minimal to maximal graduated scale where CLW has something very subtle, say a light blue glow from the hands, to something pretty awesome for like Heal, wherein there is like some mazing, from the heavens golden rain of healing goodness.

Or something like that. Scaled animations for abilities and spells would make progression more meaningful, for me at least :)

seconded.

Well, I intend to be out using my mighty wizardry in in battle most of the time, but I'll probably make (and sell) potions to supplement my income.

Liberty's Edge

I would like to join your company, I will most likely be playing as a NG half elf wizard

I just want to say here that including replica coins is one of the few options that would actually obligate me to get a hypothetical CE.

Maps are another.

what can I say? I'm a sucker for feelies.

How would a free to play game have a collector's edition?

it wouldn't be a "collector's edition" like what SWTOR had, it would be more along the lines of "Pay dollar amount X for VIP statues, dollar amount Y for VIP status plus <list of other benefits> "

at least that's my take on it

While the idea of plushies, dice etc... sounds nice. If I recall from the esrb rating discussion thread. Goblinworks has little to no interest in a physical copy of the game to go into stores. Which kind of throws a wrench into the idea of a physical collectors edition.

Now they could throw in a bonus kit of some sort to sell, but an official "collectors edition" of a game that is intended to be distributed via downloads seems kind of an odd concept to shoot for. Perhaps a collectors kit with a plushie, the thornkeep book, plus bonus skymetal bits card or something could be offered at the time of the games launch or something.

Good point. Actually if they had a store where you could buy T-shirts, maps, goblin plushies etc. that may work out better in the end.

I really hope they have something like that anyway so we can buy authentication keys. (The little USB sized ones like they have for Blizzard games and The Old Republic.)

I know I would love to see merch like this.
