Grizmark, trying to get over the dour mood that his plaguing his normally chipper (for a dwarf) demeanor. Half listening to the conversation between Khas and Aldern, he isn't paying much attention when the boar appears. Suddenly inspired by the immanent combat, Grizmark charges the beast with his spear. Longspear: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 81d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 Missing seems appropriate for the mood he's been in.
I think it's time to put the kibosh in this thing. It's been months and we've accomplished absolutely nothing. One player has already left, and as a group things are extremely slow and sporadic about when everyone is available to post, myself included. This being my first play-by-post, I wasn't sure what to expect, but it certainly would have been more active than this. I feel like we can't have gotten past the first two pages of the intro. I'm not sure if everyone agrees with my take, or if my expectations were off, but in any case I think I at least am out. I don;t feel the motivation of trying to RP this next conversation and then waiting a month for anything else to happen. please remove me from the group, or whatever may be necessary to clear this from my campaigns. Psrtd of it were fun, and I appreciate the time and effort you put in to it GM, but it just seems dead in the water.
Grizmark is a little confused by the ferocity and backbone shown by the goblin, which is unusual. He will try to see if he can understand what could be causing this by searching for any external clues on the body, hoping to see signs of drug use or any other indications of why they would be acting this way. Since nothing seems to be urgent or pressing, he will Take 20 on his heal check, for a total of 26. He will also make an untrained Knowledge Nature check
"As a healer by trade and by gifts from me goddess, I wou' first like ta congratulate ye on yer recovery from yer illness. However, when I see a man aggressively approachin', and tha patrons seen ta have experienced this behavior before, I feel tha need ta intervene. I like ta help people, whether that means diffusin' tha situation or escortin' ye out of here be yer choice. Lastly, I wou' ask ye if ye think it wou' have been better for us ta simply let tha little buggers keep slicin' throats, as ta nae incur their wrath? Where was yer daughter when they attacked, was she at tha event? Perhaps she wou' preferred ta die ta protect yer sensibilities instead of havin' tha townsfolk rise up ta put tha murderers down. If ye're aimin' ta cause trouble here, ye will find I nae be so easily made timid by a fancy dressed man throwin' a tantrum fit for a grumpy baby just pulled off his ma's teat.
Grizmark, having returned to the Rusty Dragon inn and perhaps sensing a need for his mediation skills, tries gain an edge on the situation. Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 He will follow the menacing looking fop and try to intervene. Quite short on coin, perhaps earning respect from the kitchen staff or owner will prove beneficial.

I'm sorry, but I could not disagree with your logic more. It's a bone. It was okay to kill the skeleton, but you can't give it to a dog? "Any sentient creature," means all good characters are vegetarians, as killing animals and eating the flesh from their bones is an evil action? You guys are killing me. We haven't done s~#@ in this mod so far, and now there's several post about me wanting to give a dog a bone. G@++!!n... Seriously, if we're going to quibble over what everyone else does, while accomplishing absolutely nothing, then this is like playing with 3rd graders and we should just go about our own business.
I check the board pretty frequently (obsessively so), so it’s likely I’ll be able to contribute Gizmark’s actions on his turn, but that’s here’s his basic battle plan: At the beginning of combat, if not engaged and the enemy is more than 20 feet away, Grizmark will move forward, and ready an action to attack if approached, bracing his longspear against a charge. This may allow Grizmark to get two attacks, one for his readied action, and one as an attack of opportunity if the close within 5 feet. If they are close enough to be engaged with a single move, Grizmark will do so and will attack. On subsequent rounds, Grizmark will maneuver to obtain a flank, continuing to attack. On his turn, if two or more allies have taken 5 or so HP, we will channel positive energy (excluding two enemies via Selective Channel feat). If one ally has received significant damage, he will move to cast Cure Light, using his domain spell first, and converting spells as needed. By default he’ll normally have Remove Sickness and Remove Fear memorized, and will convert them to healing, if needed, in that order. Once we reach 2nd level, he will be casting Shield Companion, and spending a free action to command the dog to obtain flanks, as it will have more movement.
"Well Father, I reckon we outta search these buggers out, see what they're about. We will let you know what we find out.". Grizmark, looking at his new mutt, "Well boy, you might as well start learnin' to take orders from a dwarf. I'm new to this, so a little patience would be appreciated on your part, and I'll try to do the same. We need to sniff out where these greenskins came from, and I'm bettin' you've got quite the sniffer on ya." To the party, "I don't know if my new friend gets the meanin' just yet. I think we should look for tracks to try and see if we can find a trail or clues, but I certainly don't have the gift for it." I don't recall the time of day. Is this somethign we can start now, or would it be better to rest and start in the morning? Grizmark is out of spells, but still has 4 channels left
I'm having trouble finding a class that would allow me to take the dog as an animal companion. Druid is the obvious choice, but I couldn't wear my armor any more. Hunter would be a better choice, but I can't recall if that is a playable class. There's a barbarian archetype that would be perfect, 'Mad Dog', but if I recall correctly archetypes are not allowed. If we can't find a way to make it work, I have a backup plan we can RP perhaps.
Leroy, its your turn. Also, perhaps you should switch to the heavy pick? You should be taking a minus 8 penalty on your ranged attack. -4 for soft cover (allies), -4 for the target being engaged in combat. With your dex bonus, that's a d20 -6 per attack when we are engaged. It won't go down until at least 5th level, because you didn't take point blank at 1st level, so you can't take precise at 3rd. I'm sure there is a good reason you took toughness as a caster type with an 18 con who attacks from range, but in reality unless the enemy is unengaged, I think you will be frustrated with how hard it is to hit. Even if you are able to maneuver behind the enemy so soft cover is no longer an issue, a -2 attack bonus against normal AC means your needing 15+ to hit most things. At least with a pick or spear its a flat +1, maybe +3 with flank.
Sorry Leroy, I think it's my turn and then the Goblins, as per the turn order previously mentioned. Grizmark, grimacing at his wound, will 5-foot step to take advantage of his reach weapon, hoping to set up a flank at some point. With the 5-foot step, I assume I am out of reach of enemies, so I will convert Remove Fear to cast Cure Light wounds on myself. All 1st level spells gone Cure Light: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 If I am wrong about being in reach, I will cast defensively.
