Parii |
Parii glares at the goblin, and raises her holy symbol up high.
"I call from the sky of the Empyreals, to She of Ebon Wings, to smite down the monstrous!"
Smite evil on the goblin mount. I figured she's close enough to it?
Grizmark |

I think you only have to see it to activate smite evil. Line of effect, if I'm remembering correctly.
Khaz Dourblade |
Khaz, seeing the surprise of the goblins, hefted his shield and moved to position himself between the goblins and his kinsmen.
Life happens, we understand. As for this action, he could charge...but that would only give a +2 to hit against a single goblin who would be flatfooted...but it would then leave him open to being mobbed by up to 4 goblins (as he'd be the closest enemy). So instead he'll just position himself for an AAO if anyone tries to attack the ranged guys behind him.
The Game Hamster |
The Goblins rush Grizmark and Khaz, blocking the Gnome's open line of attack on the Big Goblin - she can still get to him, but provoking an attack of opportunity - the goblins swing their blades.
two on Khaz,
attack 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
attack 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Both miss...
and one on Grizmark...
attack 3: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
also missing.
Leroy and then Parii's turn.
Parii |
Parii shall move towards the closest goblin and attack.
Shortsword Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Shortsword Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Shortsword Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Additional Damage if Confirmed Crit: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
The Game Hamster |
Parii slices up the goblin to the left of Khaz, but doesn't kill, or even drop him.
Meanwhile, the goblin commando charges at the cleric!
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Striking him with his dog-slicer.
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Grizmark is wounded.
Khaz's turn.
You may attack any of the Goblins that are left standing.
Khaz Dourblade |
Seeing his kinsman under attack, Khaz turns and swings his axe at the goblin commando. He does so while trying to angle his footwork to keep both goblins attacking at him at bay and in front of his shield.
To Hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
To Wound: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
"Face me ye dung eatin' bastard!"
I assume I can five foot step to swing at the commando without provoking an attack of opportunity, right?
Grizmark |
Sorry Leroy, I think it's my turn and then the Goblins, as per the turn order previously mentioned.
Grizmark, grimacing at his wound, will 5-foot step to take advantage of his reach weapon, hoping to set up a flank at some point. With the 5-foot step, I assume I am out of reach of enemies, so I will convert Remove Fear to cast Cure Light wounds on myself. All 1st level spells gone
Cure Light: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
If I am wrong about being in reach, I will cast defensively.
The Game Hamster |
Khaz has all three goblins right in front of him, one to his left, which Parii hit, one directly in front, and one to his right, the Goblin Commando. His aim, this time, is accurate, and he slices the larger Goblin, which causes the Goblin to fall over, unconscious and bleeding out.
Thanks to Khaz, Grizmark makes a successful and unhindered attempt to patch his own wounds, completely healing himself.
The two Goblins, blinded by their thrill to be in combat, continue to attack, undeterred by their commander's death.
attack 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
attack 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Again, both of them miss.
Leroy fires at one of the goblins, again missing them, but getting closer to striking the one to the left of Khaz.
It is Parii's turn. There are two Goblins left, and a dog-like thing with a face like a Goblin's and a tail like a giant rat's [knowledge nature check, trained only, to determine what it is.]
Parii |
Patio strikes the closest goblin.
Short sword attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Short sword damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
letting you guys know I'll be with extremely limited Internet for a few days, I still need to get my Internet hooked up in my apartment.
Khaz Dourblade |
Hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Wound: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Nature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
With two goblins actively attacking him, there was little Khaz could do but defend himself. He blocked the first blow with his shield, and side stepped the second blow. He tried to make an attack in return, but it had to be checked lest he open himself up to further attack. And naturally, with his attention focused on his assailants, he didn't have the concentration to give the goblin-bound monstrosity further thought.
Khaz Dourblade |
Sweat was running down Khaz's brow, stinging his eyes. He was starting to breathe heavily. "Aye, they're slippery enough. Now surround the bastards! Let none escape."
If we have Khaz in front, Parii on one flank, Grizmark on the other, and Leroy in back, what combat bonuses do we all get?
The Game Hamster |
Parii, Khaz, and Grizmark all miss their intended targets...
The goblins also attack, both attacking Khaz, who is in front of them...
attack 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
attack 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
one actually hits...
attack 1 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
It cuts deeper than expected...
It is Leroy's turn.
The Game Hamster |
Grizmark may flank with Khaz no problem... and he hits! The goblin is downed in one blow from Grizmark's spear. Father Zantus steps closer, and channels positive energy, healing your wounds (if any) for: 9 points of damage.
channel: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9
This encourages the dog to attack the last goblin.
attack/dog: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
he hits, but doesn't down the goblin and provides the gnome with a flank.
The goblin, fearing the dog more than the "longshanks," attacks the mutt.
attack/goblin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
His seemingly clumsy swing connects more than it should've, making the dog even angrier than it was before. Yet, even as he swings, he grunts from the pain caused by the wound left by the dog, and collapses, dying.
The fight is over, and around you, the city seems to be calming down. The richly dressed man thanks you profusely for your help.
How would you like to proceed? Turn order is no longer in effect.
Khaz Dourblade |
With a frustrated grunt Khaz buries his axe into the back of a downed goblin. [i]"Yer welcome. Couldn't let these greenskins have their way. They a common problem for yer town then?"[/b] As he says this, Khaz feels his chain shirt and inspects his shield for damage.
Parii |
"That is most concerning," said Parii, looking around the town, "Do you know anywhere they could have sneaked into the town unnoticed? I have heard goblins could be sneaky, but I've never heard of a whole raid hiding under one's nose like this."
The Game Hamster |
"I don't believe the temple to be in any paticular danger at the moment. The guards may need your help, but I think by the sound, or lack thereof that they may have it under control. If you wish, you may go look for futher disturbances, I believe I can handle things over here on my own." Even as Father Zantus says this, he looks concerned, not really of worry of what might happen, but of what has happened, and what it entails for future events.
Khaz Dourblade |
With a grunt Khaz walked over to the priest. "Not to be a bother, but one o' them managed to get a good cut in. Ye mind prayin' to ye God to fix that up." To punctuate his point, Khaz held his hand to his wound and then held up his bloody palm to be seen.
I believe that Khaz lost 5hp and Grizmark is all tapped out
