The Game Hamster |
I'm having trouble finding a class that would allow me to take the dog as an animal companion. Druid is the obvious choice, but I couldn't wear my armor any more. Hunter would be a better choice, but I can't recall if that is a playable class. There's a barbarian archetype that would be perfect, 'Mad Dog', but if I recall correctly archetypes are not allowed.
If we can't find a way to make it work, I have a backup plan we can RP perhaps.
I'll likely allow the "Hunter" class. After all, I've already allowed in a telekinetic.
Grizmark |
I check the board pretty frequently (obsessively so), so it’s likely I’ll be able to contribute Gizmark’s actions on his turn, but that’s here’s his basic battle plan:
At the beginning of combat, if not engaged and the enemy is more than 20 feet away, Grizmark will move forward, and ready an action to attack if approached, bracing his longspear against a charge. This may allow Grizmark to get two attacks, one for his readied action, and one as an attack of opportunity if the close within 5 feet.
If they are close enough to be engaged with a single move, Grizmark will do so and will attack.
On subsequent rounds, Grizmark will maneuver to obtain a flank, continuing to attack. On his turn, if two or more allies have taken 5 or so HP, we will channel positive energy (excluding two enemies via Selective Channel feat). If one ally has received significant damage, he will move to cast Cure Light, using his domain spell first, and converting spells as needed. By default he’ll normally have Remove Sickness and Remove Fear memorized, and will convert them to healing, if needed, in that order.
Once we reach 2nd level, he will be casting Shield Companion, and spending a free action to command the dog to obtain flanks, as it will have more movement.
Khaz Dourblade |
I've got a family emergency. Leaving for China on the 18th of this month, will be gone for 3 weeks. Will post as much as I am able while there. Please Bot Khaz as needed. If there is another combat coming up, feel free to do something like break his jaw so that he can't talk. In which case he'll follow the tactics laid out earlier: stand in front of his kin and protect them.
Upon reaching 2nd level, he'll be going down the two handed ranger combat style path, and will take 'power attack.' He'll thus be selling/discarding/giving away his shield (unless he can strap it to his back for +1 AC vs missile attacks?) and will be wielding his axe with two hands until he can find a better weapon.
Leroy Lifebender |
Leroy here, work schedule problems,
In combat of absent
Leroy will use his pebble cannon almost 90% of the time. If an enemy is more than 30ft away, he will gather energy to avoid the burn that long range shots give him. If he has to accept burn he will only take two before switching to close quarters, where he will get at least 30ft in before attacking.
If the enemy gets too close, he will take a step back and draw his pick... if they close in again he will show them the pointy and of the pick.
If he has the pick in hand, he will avoid using it as a projectile. If a weapon lies around that can be thrown, he may use that as a projectile. If not he willstick to his gravel. Every chance he gets he fills his sack with gravel.
Grizmark |
I think it's time to put the kibosh in this thing. It's been months and we've accomplished absolutely nothing. One player has already left, and as a group things are extremely slow and sporadic about when everyone is available to post, myself included. This being my first play-by-post, I wasn't sure what to expect, but it certainly would have been more active than this. I feel like we can't have gotten past the first two pages of the intro.
I'm not sure if everyone agrees with my take, or if my expectations were off, but in any case I think I at least am out. I don;t feel the motivation of trying to RP this next conversation and then waiting a month for anything else to happen.
please remove me from the group, or whatever may be necessary to clear this from my campaigns.
Psrtd of it were fun, and I appreciate the time and effort you put in to it GM, but it just seems dead in the water.
Khaz Dourblade |
Well, I'm more than willing to keep going. If anyone is MIA or wants to drop out, just find new players. And have a conversation about posting times and whatnot.
Khaz Dourblade |
Well, I'm not paying for anything. So let's keep that in mind. In the future a heads up would be great, but it is what it is. Because campaigns tend to slow down and speed up with PbP, I play through several consecutively. I always expect one or two to die out, unfortunately. I highly recommend applying for a few more to make sure that there is always something to post on.
Khaz Dourblade |
Honestly, our thing was a unified dwarf clan concept. With Leroy and Parii out...and Griz having heavily hinted that he is unhappy with his character, I think we should reroll. The story doesn't make sense with a splitting of the clan.
The Game Hamster |
Are you guys familiar with Roll 20? I was considering moving the game over to there, and if we get new players it could be a chance for a refreshing re-boot.
Khaz Dourblade |
I say continue with new characters. A group of traveling dwarves was instrumental in beating back the goblin attack. For that the town was grateful. But the constulbary would prefer to use its own for investigating further. Hence the new characters.
As for roll20 I've never heard of it before. Does it work with cell phones? Because I usually post off of my phone
Joshua9093 |
I think staying here is the simplest, though I do like roll20, but this is free. With a wizard, rogue and another ranger lined up (do we know if they are ranged or close-quarters?), I can either stay with the healer, or Khaz if you have a healer concept I can roll a front liner. Or, if the other ranger is a ranged attacker, I believe yours is a front liner, we can just keep the roles the same. I like playign healers, so my main concept would be the same. I would probably change races, gods (while keeping the healing domain) and change my other domain from fire since we will have a wizard.
Grumbaki |
Roll up a new healer as you do seem to want a new race and a new God. And again, is this ranger melee or ranged? I'll roll up a ranged character (probably a slayer) if he is close, or I'll make a melee character. Either a paladin or swashbuckler, as the mood takes me.
I'm mostly concerned about the story, and splitting this party just doesn't make thematic sense.
Elthaeron |
Rough draft for an archer up.
Squeezed out, at short range, +9 hit with 1d8+4 damage. Along with that darkvision and some useful skills.
Not finalized though. Unsatisfied with the horrible HP and Will Saves. Neither are necessary for an archer...but which would be nice.
Will still need some work but this is a good placeholder.
Damien Root |
Here is Damien Root. I can't seem to decide on a feat, so for now its toughness. Still working on the background.
I'd consider a teamwork feat if anyone had ideas. I'm going with the spear again, only this time a fancy elven one.
Brentol Snow |
Here I present Brentol Snow, A dwarf ranger that has heard rumors of giants in the varisian highlands and has come to help clear the lands from the dangers of the big people.
I am going to be running a two weapon ranger with the twin thunders feat tree in the future. He is focused on giant killing but works well in most other combats. he understands the ways of the wilds and knows how to get out of trouble there as well. also how do you get your stats to show under your profile like that? this is my first time in a pbp and my first time using an alias on these boards.
