With an audible sigh Khaz gets to his feet and pulls his axe out. "Gobbos seem to enjoy dyin' round 'ere." With that he follows, under the thought that a dead goblin for a free drink sounded reasonable.
Khaz Dourblade
Khaz goes in first, his shield at the ready and his axe firmly in his hand. He trusts that Griz will come behind with his spear and that Leroy will cover them. But he says nothing, lest he scare away whatever goblin is hiding in there.
Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

He goes into the room expecting whatever is in there to be in the open, and is thus ready for a fight. It does not occur to him that there is the possibility that he will have to look for his opponent.

Perception for the closet
Perception to see if the man is living or dead as he approaches the closet: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
The Game Hamster
I thought I'd wait for a few days for others to post their actions, but now, we can move forward.
The goblin rushes out of the closet, screaming its tiny head off, and tries to attack Khaz, who may make an attack on the creature. Grizmark may attack also, as he has a spear and it is now 10 ft from him, and he readied his attack.
Khaz Dourblade
Seeing only a single goblin, and hoping to take it as a prisoner for interrogation, Khaz met the goblin's frenzied charge with his own. With his shield held firmly, he used it to try and knock the goblin over by meeting its momentum with his own, and using his shield to push it over after stopping its movement.
Trip attempt using shield: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Khaz Dourblade
Khaz puts a boot onto the goblin's chest, and looks down at it with a smile.
"Well greenskin, how 'bout ye forget about fightin' us an' talk instead. I tell ye now, I'll honor yer surrender."
Diplomacy Check to get the knocked down goblin to surrender: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Just posted this now, as Leroy going up the stairs or staying down won't affect Khaz's action
Khaz Dourblade
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
1d10 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Khaz removes his boot, 5ft steps (so that he and Grizmark are flanking) and brings his axe down on the prone goblin.
The Game Hamster
Together, Khaz and Grizmark dispatch the Goblin nearly as quickly as it appeared.
Even if you search the house, there was only the one Goblin, now dead, so what do you want to do? You have a dead goblin, a dead dog, and a dead man, all lying at your feet, a small boys room has been bloodied, and the dead man's face has been chewed off...

Khaz looks at the father and shrugs wearily. "Injured? Nay. Dead? Aye. Filthy gobbo got into a home. Killed a manling. We put it down before it could kill anyone else. I be thinkin' that it be about time this 'ere town just killed all o' the buggers."
Grizmark
Grizmark is a little confused by the ferocity and backbone shown by the goblin, which is unusual.
He will try to see if he can understand what could be causing this by searching for any external clues on the body, hoping to see signs of drug use or any other indications of why they would be acting this way.
Since nothing seems to be urgent or pressing, he will Take 20 on his heal check, for a total of 26.
He will also make an untrained Knowledge Nature check
Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2
The Game Hamster
A thorough examination reveals that the goblin had been living off of bugs and scraps for days, unable to leave his small hole for some reason. He appears to have been in an acute state of mental deterioration from a lack of food. A knowledge nature check may reveal why he was unable to leave his hole, however a 2 will not suffice.
Around that time, the Father has picked up the corpse, hidden the true mutilation from the populace, and escorted it back to the temple.
He asks Grizmark, as a fellow priest to assist one of his acolytes in breaking the news to the unfortunate widow, and he sends another acolyte to deliver word to her sister.
What would you all like to accomplish before your boar hunt, including any investigations or non-related tasks?
I haven't posted 'cause we're back on the grindstone, finals week again. Hopefully I can post a few more times before the week is out, and get back to a better posting habit next week.
Khaz Dourblade
Work is in short supply. Still, he'll see if he can make some money working a forge for a day to make some gold and to keep his skills sharp. Failing that he'll drink away his time. Griz can handle his priestly duties without him, and as far as he is concerned he's done enough free investigating and fighting for this town already.

Amele takes the news of her husband's death rather poorly, and just sits and cries until her sister arrives and takes her back to her place. "Maybe our heroes could have done a bit of a better job heroing before something like this happened." She comments as she leads her sister out of the town.
The time has arrived to meet up with Aldern Foxglove. He actually buys each of you a mount, and then you set off into the tickwood forest.
After riding for about half an hour, and having a pleasant conversation... well mostly pleasant... he seems to have developed an obsession with Khaz, and is constantly questioning him on methods of fighting goblins, which was fine, for about ten minutes...
But after riding for roughly 30 minutes you come across a boar, it seems angry, but then again, wild boars normally do.
The turn order is:
Aldern
Grizmark
Leroy
Khaz
Boar
Aldern pulls back his bow, and fires a shot at the boar. He misses, but it was a close shot.
Khaz Dourblade
When the boar came out, Khaz had been deep in conversation about the art of hunting goblins. While in truth the undead were his forte, he did his best to remain polite. He has been in the middle of talking about his use of Chakrams. Each of his are stylized to look like dwarven ancestors, with the beards as shark as a razor. They were his ranged weapon of choice given that he could throw them while still maintaining a shield wall, and because they were less likely to simply go through a skeleton.
When the boar came out, and as the nobleman fired, Khaz acted on instinct. He let loose with a Chakram, which flew straight towards the boar. Surprised to see it land true, he then reached for his axe...wishing at that moment that he had thought of taking a boar spear with him.
Hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 (is the boar flat footed? If so maybe that confirmed?)
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Critical: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Grizmark
Grizmark, trying to get over the dour mood that his plaguing his normally chipper (for a dwarf) demeanor. Half listening to the conversation between Khas and Aldern, he isn't paying much attention when the boar appears. Suddenly inspired by the immanent combat, Grizmark charges the beast with his spear.
Longspear: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 81d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Missing seems appropriate for the mood he's been in.
The Game Hamster
Grizmark misses, on account of his unfocused mind;
He is followed up Leroy, who is surprised by the boar sudden appearance, Khaz meanwhile places his attack true, but what first looked like the perfect shot turned into a second rate hit, but still did some serious damage.
The boar will attack Grizmark, as he is the closest to the boar.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 151d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
It hits, just barely, it's rage causing it's attack to go a little wide, but the force behind the attack was obvious. nevertheless, the damage inflicted by the blow is impressive, and causes Grizmark to stumble
Backing his horse up, Aldern takes another shot at the beast.
he hits this time, wounding it further.
it is now Grizmark's turn again.
*note, the boar WAS flatfooted, however this did not affect the outcome of the attack.
The Game Hamster
Hitting it, Grizmark downs the boar.
The group returns after a successful hunt, and after a few hours of waiting once in town, is treated to a roast boar dinner, courtesy of Ameiko, and Aldern.
The drinks run free and smooth in the tavern tonight, as Aldern lets loose his cash into a feast not soon forgotten.

Sheriff Hemlock, who had departed to go to the city of Magnimar in order to gather additional help, finally returns. he has with him 20 men, and five man task force. That would be you. He has debreifed you on the situation and what your job is. The Goblins have never raided town before, but they did almost a week ago now, during the swallowtail festival, a holy day for the main church in town. The festival was ruined, and a few villagers were injured. The real horror though was the discovery that all the goblin tribes in the area were involved, and someone from a race other than goblin had been the one who planned it. your task is to search around town, in the woods, and all over until this either dies down, and the Goblins forget to work together, or you discover who had done this.
Now, I recognize that not all of you have completely finished with making your characters and so I'm just doing a recap, those of you who are done though may discuss stuff in character here while waiting.

As Sheriff Hemlock finishes the briefing on the situation and task, an aged Half-elf man reaches into his quite full backpack and pulls out a stack of papers bound together haphazardly. This so called 'book' has writing on the front page that seems to be written in a different language. On closer inspection however, it is just in common, though it looks like an adolescent's writing. Goblins R US riten by Magmeet the Exile. The Half-elf opens the 'book' and begins to leaf through the pages."To begin search, where do goblins normally live before joint town raid?" he asks the sheriff, his words with a clear ustalav accent.
