I say we follow the river in that direction until we find a crossing or another way around." I kick Star Dancer into gear and lead the others along the bank. We will travel the rest of the day unless we encounter something along the way. ![]()

![]() Few things to note and a question. First off, Star Dancer is germon's animal companion and functions like a Druid's pet so it is not likely I will let him go easy. A forgot to put my pet's stats in my profile as they are different from a traditional horse. Second, in case you were curious, there is no romantic interest between Xayla and Germon. The two know each other but Xayla is not very revealing to him. Hence Germon knows next to nothing of her. He sees her as an innocent victem he must protect. If anyway romance, if you even plan on running a romace, is up to you. Lastly, I am curious about leveling. How is that and XP to work? We killed a Boggard, do we get XP? Do we split in among the party? What is the advancement pace set at? ![]()

However, we have made it further than most would in our shoes. Is that not something to take comfort in my friends? Come let us get some rest. I will take first watch." ![]() I nod. "Star Dancer can handle the push. I'm more worried about your light steed. We have lost Yarward's men for the time but they may still be looking for us along the river. It's a tough choice. Let's move north for now. Maybe we will find a cave along the way or some other place but it won't do us any good to wear ourselves out in case we are ambushed along the way. Stay close and lets moves." I will lead us on until we can travel no more or we find a good place to bunker down for the night. ![]()

We need to get to a place where I can recover from this injury." I gesture for Xayla to join me on the back of my steed and we ride off opposite the croaks. Now we scoure the swamp for a safe place to set up and rest. "Xayla, I have no skill at surviving in the wilds. Can you find us a good place where I can recover from my injuries?" Lol this is already exciting. Going to be tough with no easy source of healjng. I'm up for the challenge. ![]()

![]() I am going to assume this is happening while we were travelling. If that is the case then Germon and Xayla are on my Steed and Edan is on his own light horse. Since it is a move action to dismount and draw a weapon, I assume that is what Xayla did. Once Xayla is down I kick Star Dancer into gear and ride towards the beast. As Star dancer moves in I draw my sword and ready my attack with two hands on my sword.
Once we are in reach I strike out at the little beast. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 For:1d10 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 However racing through the muck of the swamp throws off my aim and my sword sweeps over the creature's head. ![]()

Initiative:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 In response to the attack I am quick to ready myself for the next round. ![]()

![]() Okay I gave Standard Bearer another look. I like having a free loyal mount that can get stronger as you go than a banner that merely allows +2 against fear and +1 to attacks ONLY on the charge. It will be cool, even in dungeon crawl I can make use of the mount. It is an animal companion that I can find plenty of uses for.
I am good with how he is built. Thanks for the suggestion. So, is there anything else you need or are you ready to get this party started? ![]()
Male Human Cavalier level 1
![]() Thanks. Running solo games can be tricky and are often most fun when the GM takes liberties in things that affect the player. Often enough I use in story hooks to lure the player into certain quests. One thing I have notice with all the players I have had in solo games, they are FAR more creative and innovative and even tend to let loose in ways they normally wouldn't in a group. They also attach themselves to NPCs more often and roleplay a heavy storm. Groups don't roleplay out stuff as much and it is all about the adventure party. When it is just one person, it is about them. Think Bioware games for example. KOTOR, Mass Effect, Dragon age. Those are good sources of inspiration for a good single player adventure. So expect a good deal of roleplay and interaction with NPCs from me. I also notice single players attempt some strange but cool tactics in fights. If I'm in a struggle, I my try strange things that don't have rules so be prepared for that. Now, my adventure. Kaer Maga seemed like the best destination for my character, perfect even considering the story. The Mushfens seem to be infested with boggards, a reasonable low level challenge but one to be wary of. Plus I am sure you got plenty of ideas or options. As far as I am concerned, the journey can take as long as you wish. Sometimes long journeys can lead to a real good feeling or even a sweet high when you finally reach the destination. If you have other things you wish me to accomplish elsewhere and don't want to waste time on that particular trip, then by all means make the journey a quick one. If you have lots of options and ideas FOR this first journey, then I'm game to take on what you got no matter how long it takes to reach this destination. If you got caves, ruins, or dungeons to explore along the way, monsters to face, people to meet, or any other hooks or side quests then I say BRING IT! You set the pacing. I'm just glad to be having this kind of adventure. Gonna be fun. Now a few things I forgot to point out about how I plan to play Germon. 1. He is not a looter. I know Pathfinder is a game about getting the good stuff and as much as possible. But seriously, I don't feasibly, see people waltzing though dangerous lands picking up every gosh darn item they come across. Kill a band of 8 brigands, now I have eight longswords, eight hide armor, and a bunch of other stuff I can sell later. No, where would you even put all that and why lug marginally worthless stuff around. Unless it is needed, easy to carry, or particularly valuable or useful, Germon will leave it.
2. Germon never got out into the wild much. He is a bit unfamiliar with stuff outside city walls, he is also dangerously curious. He loves discovering new things. We pass any strange ruins or caves in the Mushfens or ANYWHERE along the way and he is likely to poke his head in. I play to Germon's wisdom and lack of outside experience. Kind of why Edan is there. Edan is more cautious than Germon is and I expect you to use Edan as a warning system if I am poking around a situation that could get Germon killed. Just saying.
3. Character build. I am currently a Cavalier, while that is a mounted form of warrior, it isn't one I plan on taking many levels in. Mounted combat is hard to use in Pathfinder so I will likely only have the one level in it. The rest will go towards bard and either fighter, or some other combat class until I reach Battle Herald. If that path is at all an issue, I can figure out something else within my characters persona. I like this guy but if Battle Herald is a bit too difficult to run, then I can easily adapt Germon to a different future goal that still fits into his Story. If your cool with it, then I'd like to know how you plan on handling the leadership feat. That is pretty much what Germon is going for. 4. Roleplay. I am a huge fan of in game roleplay. Dialogue and interactions with other characters is just as much fun as combat and I believe they should be balanced. I've played in too many games where it was all about the fighting and there was no story or 3 dimensional characters. Summerizing encounters with NPCs can get boring. I go into a bar and talk with the barkeep, it's fun when the barkeeper has name, personality, and something to say. Doesn't have to be too much, just as much as you can handle and I won't be picky or critical on how your NPCs act or behave. If that is what you think they should say or do, then by all means. So yeah, I hope all this helps set up our game. I am giving you pretty much free reign with the one exception that I will go where I please and do as I do. Well as Germon will do at any rate. P.S. Suspanna taught Germon Drow Sign Language. If you notice, in my Alias's Full name, Germon also has a Drow name listed. It's what Susanna called him. I hope you plan on putting Drow in here somewhere, doesn't need to be soon but eventually. Always been a fan of these things. Any other questions, comments, or concerns about Germon or me? Always helps to know the players perceptions and tendencies too. How we like to play. ![]()

![]() Germon is a piping 20 year-old youngster. Germon knows his Brother Edan Falleyas who is a 21/22 year-old wizard in training. Germon is aware his brother casts magic, not exactly sure what schools he studies or what his style of combat is like, the two boys went to different schools and though they are close by fellowship, they don't know each others personal lives THAT well. They do understand one another even though they are opposites of one another. I was inspired the the Thor movie and their relationship is loosely based on Thor and Loki. Germon almost blindly loves his brother and trusts him completely. What Secrets Edan may not have shared with his brother are yours to evolve as you choose. Or I can take control of him. Purely up to you how much control of my brother you want me to have. Xayla on the other hand is a big mystery to Germon. She's not much of a talker and even when Germon was younger and hearing stories from Suspanna about their homelands, she didn't speak much of Xayla. Here is a summery of what Germon knows of Xayla -She is a Young pretty Drow Ranger outcast from drow society for some reason and from somewhere in the darklands. And she is Suspanna's daughter. The rest is up to you. I have a Story for each of them all panned out if you want to use that but you are free to come up with your own. I will work with either way you wish to go. The story is about Germon, not them. If you feel it would fulfill some kind of plot to kill them off, then by all means. I tossed them in there for flavor, to be used as party members, or to simply have been a brief part of Germon's life and will have moved on now or later. My knowledge of Yarward is very limited. I know he is a rival in to my family and he is powerful. Enough so that it is within his right to hunt us to the ends of Golorion and back. Anything else would be your call. I would be fairly knowledgeable of Magnimar so to help that and you out, I kicked a skill point out of Heal and stuck it in Knowledge:local. You can then feed me knowledge on Magnimar pending on how I roll that check. I tried to detail my story but keep it loose so you can mold it as you see fit. I am an experience GM and have run MANY players in solo games, so I know how to work on your end. It's thrilling to be on the receiving end for a change though. Especially since the adventure path is made for my guy. Too cool. ![]()

![]() Important Questions for DM:
I have some concerns. I know that have been a bit of a bother with character relations and I must trouble once more about some details concerning my character build. These are some questions I should have asked before the game began but am asking now as depending on your answers will change the way I play the game. 1. I plan to take the prestige class battle herald and the feat Leadership. I want to know how you handle Cohorts and Followers, how do I acquire them and do I get to play as them or do you? 2. If I can use the leadership feat to gain followers and a cohort, I want to recruit Drow into those slots. I know that is asking a lot but in the end it is all up to the GMs discretion. I need to know if any of this is possible. If not I may want to change some things about my character. For example, I will not pursue Battle Herald any more. I may even desire to change my current classes but I hope it wont come to that. Is what I am asking unreasonable? Thank you for hearing me out. Again I apologize for being a pain of a player. Germon nods towards Barrett. "My eyes aren't as good as an elves but Barrett here has the best nose in the business and I trust him to sniff out any intruders. So I will take the darkest watch with Barrett and anyone else who would like to join me." ![]()

![]() You didn't catch what I have did you? If so I'm sorry. Being sick is rough. Germon nods. "Well if we're gonna do this, then we best get moving because the Deurgar aren't going to wait on us. Let's get to bed early and head out for the next village first thing in the morning." Germon turns to Apple before she heads out. "M'Lady. You are sending word to the towns east and west of here I presume?" ![]()

![]() Germon will take the stand. He looks out at the people gathered and nods his head. "People of Lichegate, we come bearing ill news! In less than eight days at most your lands will be invaded by several hundreds to even thousands of underworld dwellers!" Germon pulls out the documents that detail the planning. "These are documents describing their plans! This matter is of grave importance to you and everyone in this land. You must take whatever emergency procedures you have been given. Flee to whatever keep you have been instructed too and send word to all neighboring community. Time is of the essences! Ready yourselves for this onset as quickly as you can and you may survive. The best suggestion is to take only what you can carry and rally together at the nations capital. There you will make your stand under the guidance of your ruler. Gods speed to you all. Keep your faith and we will get through this."

After this meeting is done I wish to investigate the place where the monsters we killed came from. Any of you care to join me?" ![]()

![]() Germon looks at the sword in mild disbelief. He sheathes it. "I've seen many a battle where walls fail. A big hunk of rock doesn't stop an army for long, especially one that has planned properly and these foes seem not the type to do things blindly. Were not dealing with orcs or any of the like. If drow are in fact involved, this wont bode well no matter what path we take. For now, walls seem to be the only thing we have time for. I hope there are enough fighting men to hold against this foe." Germon will stand back up and make his way back in the tavern. Germon enters in time to hear the final debate of the elders. "We have less than eight days to get everyone to this city of Saragost. I don't like it but it is also not my army. Therefore I will lend my sword.....and the talking sword in the defense of this city. I leave whatever tactics there may be in the hands of the generals and ruler of this kingdom. If we are to travel to every single settlement, I suggest we don't linger longer than we have to. However, I would ask that the elders of this city consider sending their own emissaries to the other towns rather than complete strangers." Germon turns to the group. "I am asking permission out of respect for you as my comrades as chosen by fate. I want more information on our foe. I know of the drow. I know their history and habits and goals. What I want is variables, numbers, supply counts and locations. Supply lines, and the location of this access point that is mentioned. I am hoping it isn't too late to try and acquire some of that information. What I am asking is to search the area where we fought those monsters and see if we cannot find their source. I hope we can find a band of drow or Deurgar and either take prisoners or more documents. Information will aid us in the defense and I'd like to show up at the castle with as much as I can. Are you opposed to this?" Germon looks to each of his comrades for some sort of confirmation that his idea is good. With this group I'm not holding my breath. I expect a no. I am so wired on a Three Kingdoms zone here. It seems everyone else is still stuck on Lord of the Rings. I ache for a strategic land war. Oh well. Sorry for being a dick guys. ![]()

Germon will be quiet regardless of how Lance responds ---- At the tavern Germon simply sits quietly staring constantly at his new "Comrades". After a bit of thinking he pipes in. "I have been trained in a kingdom of warriors and tacticians. I will admit. This is my first battle. I know walls are good for keeping people safe but they should be a last resort. The best fought battles are the ones that are won with little damage to the mother land. If the battle has reach the walls of your capital, that is a sure ill omen and though the battle may be won, the damage can be near irrecoverable. Many kingdoms have fallen due to land damage alone. ?" Germon sighs heavily. "I am unsure as to how to continue. I want to be a great leader someday and rebuild my home for the better. I know one thing for sure and this is what my uncle taught me. An ancient proverb. "Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories." The first problem is that I do not know our enemy. The second is I do not wholly know myself either. I need intel. I need to not only research our enemies but I need some time to know my own limits. I want to defeat our enemy before they even step foot on our lands but I am unsure as too how to do it without a good source of intel. I do not know this kingdom. There has to be a way to gain more knowledge." Without another word, Germon stands up and moves to leave the tavern. Lance isn't the only one who can do ridiculously long and rambling posts :p ![]()

![]() Still some life in this thing huh? Well I'll keep posting as long as someone else does. Germon looks at Cael. "The good captain doesn't believe these people should try and fight. Most of them shouldn't but if there is any army on this island, I say we need to for it and make the first move. We would have the element of surprise on our side. If sitting and waiting is what the rest are dead set on, then I suggest we at least try and implement traps by any city gate, and any entrances to the underground we find. Also, I like the idea of setting light base traps such as readying bonfires with fast burning oil, spells that produce large amounts of light and accompanying them with ambushes. These creatures will likely attack at night but if we do this right, we can turn their strengths against them. It is presumable they do not know we know they're coming. However, all our activity up here my tip them off and they may respond accordingly. Creatures of the underground could pop up anywhere. We really should not let our guards down for even a second." Germon looks at the group. "I don't like running. I would like it better if we would prepare. We only hurt our chances by moving so many people all over the surface like this." Germon looks to Lance. "I respect your authority as a captain of a ship and a leader of men but we are not at sea. I am a former Lieutenant and have studied much in the ways of land based combat. This measure of evacuation will end in failure and may cause more problems for when the inevitable attack will occur." Germon looks at the others. Odds are that the Drow will likely be working with the Deurgar. However, I will not condemn an entire race because of the actions of the majority. I hope to one day save them from their heathen deities and show them how beneficial it can be to walk in the light. Alas. I may be called to raise my sword against them many times before my dreams are realized. For now I dream, and I fight, for the betterment of all and the future I hope to one day create." Germon will look Lance square in the eyes. "I would like to speak with these Drow, and I hope to someday get the chance, but for now, urgency is of the utmost importance and there are peoples lives hanging in the balance. We must act on the knowledge we have now no matter what emotional turmoils I am struggling with. I will not shirk my duties to my fellow man. If they want to foolishly attack innocents, then I will fight against them be they Deugar, Drow, or my own kind. I will not simply let someone bully the innocent. Now, let us move on. ---- At Apples approach and introduction Germon will bow "My name is Germon Falleyas and this is my faithful companion. My comrades and I have some dire information." Germon will hold for the documents and read them alound in common for Apple to understand. Once he is finished. "We must prepare ourselves as quickly as possible my lady.
