The suspicious and guarded face of Garvid relaxes little as he lays his eyes on the familiar face of Thousand Bones. "Nice to see a fr- familiar face.", the man blurts out, extending a hand towards the Shoanti, the other one still firmly grasping his halberd. Upon the mention of the just desserts, he scoffs, a grim grin appearing on his face. They're dead right there. Been shouting up that tree since the King's death. Giving a respectful nod as the elders of the tribe are introduced to them, Garvid blurts out, "You know, the only nobles and high-ups in Korvosa I've talked to were either demanding something, or asking for a foot in their asses.", he comments as the party descends towards their yurt.

Sitting down and scanning over the table, with eyes peeled out for the familiar small bundles of mouse fat and sugar, Garvid settles on a large jug of water and a flatbread. "Our 'adventures'. Hah! Let's see... Turns out the plague was caused by an Urgathoan priestess working with the Gray Maidens, under the palace. We... cured that particular sickness.", he gives a vicious grin, before continuing. "We went to Old Korvosa, and was that place completely f~$!ed. Gangs ruining everything, some foreign killers for hire hired by Her Majesty", he spits out the words, "tried to kill us. Turns out the Arkonas weren't the normal sort of f%*@ed up nobility, they were some damn shapeshifting cat people from Woodra. One of them should still be dangling from his golden chandelier, and the second one knows that she'll be joining him if we see her again."

Taking a swig from his water, he shrugs. "Did I miss anything? Oh, yeah, there was some mind-bending tapeworms from underground messing with our heads when we came to Kaer Maga, but they didn't realise I rarely use mine, and that you can't outthink a ball of fire. Then I got eaten by a worm in your desert. Didn't take." He sighs, dipping the bread in the water, then leaning back. "How have you been, Thousand Bones? When did you leave Korvosa? Can't imagine the Queen appreciated you hanging around much?"

Sorry, GM - forgot to update my AC, the bite definitely hit me with my Reckless Abandon. I'll start updating my block every post. I've changed my Stalwart to standard Combat Expertise, AC in block now correct.

Feeling the worm thrash and bite with a frenzy, Garvid steels himself as the stinger bites into his shoulder. "Come on, a+%@*%+! There's bound to be easier prey in this desert than us!", he roars at the creature once again latching onto his hand, darting left and right to dodge the purple worm's vicious blows.

Rolls/OoC:

Worm Damage, less DR: 2d6 + 10 + 5 - 11 ⇒ (1, 1) + 10 + 5 - 11 = 6

"Woah, woah, wo-", is all Garvid has a chance to shout out as he quickly descends down into the worm's mouth. The man coughs out at the stench, as the grinding teeth of the creature smash into his already brutalised armour. His left hand grabs onto an unmentionable and foreign piece of purple flesh dangling from the mouth as the mandibules gnash wildly around his legs and torso. "You really shouldn't eat the first thing you see on the ground.", he spits out, as his gauntlet flies viciously into a row of teeth, sending them scattering down the beast's gullet, followed up by a vicious kick at the lashing tongue.

"Yeah, Lordship? You want to come take a closer look?", Garvid roars as he tosses his longbow to the ground, his arm held tightly into the worm's jaw, as he turns around to see Yazi swarmed. "Don't leave Yazi alone, if the flying dogs can't eat you, they'll stop swarming." The stinger from the worm pushing past his armour, Garvid's furious facade twists to glare at the humongous creature's maw, as his armoured fist begins raining furious blows onto the creature's jaw. "Your face needs rearranging."

Rolls/OoC:

Fort Save: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23 +7 on top of that if it's supernatural in origin.
Attack, Power Attack, Haste, Reckless Abandon, Combat Expertise, IC, Bless: 1d20 + 17 + 1 + 3 - 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 17 + 1 + 3 - 3 + 2 + 1 = 32

I only get one Attack of Opportunity, since I don't have Combat Reflexes... yet. Fair ruling on the brace!

The sight of Mouse, of all people, taking to the skies sends Garvid into a confused state, before he shakes his head. Not the strangest thing in here. Instinctively bracing up against the magic, the hairs on his neck stand up, but Lord Talfryn's wizardry takes place. "To the Hells with them." Jabbing his halberd in the sand, Garvid draws the Vudran-accented longbow from his back and draws an arrow, the bow creaking in his hands.

Rolls/OOC:

Will Save vs Haste: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15 Not sure how the initiative worked there, but since Yazi cast that on her action, and not her AoO, I think that'd have been before my rage? She's surprisingly quick for her age.

Attack, Rage, +1 Adaptive Longbow, Reckless Abandon, Inspire Courage, Bless, Combat Expertise, haste: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 11 + 2 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 = 32
DR is currently 13/-, AC is 21.
Damage, Inspire Courage, Witch Hunter: 1d8 + 6 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 2 + 3 = 13 Surprisingly better than I expected, actually! With 3 attacks per turn, that might be a fairly effective tactic - and I realise I should've definitely gone for the Str Rage, but you never know what you want to do.

"Piss off, you screeching bastard, or I'll tear your wings off!", Garvid roars, as his halberd flies up to meet the gargoyle harrowing Li. "I don't feel they'll stop flying, We might need to shoot them down!", he shouts, taking a step backwards and bracing himself for impact. Come on, buddy. Let's see how you taste skewered.

Rolls/OOC:

AoO, PA, no rage: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27
Damage: 1d10 + 19 ⇒ (8) + 19 = 27 22 if they're magical

Standard Action Brace, Free Action Rage for Dex, which brings my AC up to 24, and DR to 13
I think Bracing might work against fly-bys, though that's up to the GM. Halve the damage if it's just a normal readied attack at whatever's targeting me.
Braced Attack, Dex Rage, Reckless Abandon, Combat Expertise, Power Attack: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36

Sorry for lack of posting, I was wondering if I was alongside Yazi and the others at the Kuthite temple.

Garvid's usual sullen mood changes little through their venture through the Kuthite temple. The talk of pain as joy seems to put Garvid at an implacid mood, though Yazi's mention of childbirth seems to catch him off guard. Huh. That makes sense. Or getting stabbed protecting a friend. Not that that's necessarily pleasant. "I thought you were full of beans and a few beans short, Laori, but... pain does remind you that you're alive.", Garvid nods, pointing to a few new bruises on his face and arms. "Though usually for me, it reminds me that the one who caused it is nearby." Crossing his arms, he gives Yazi a quizzical look. "I can do it, if you want. None of us have anything to prove. But I'm willing to bet I'm the one who's taken the most blows to the head in the room."

Rolls/OoC:

Sense Motive to catch Laori's general shiftiness: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27

Garvid follows the tourguide, listening to the young man's words with guarded interest, while his eyes track the people around him. The darkness, while an all too familiar sight to him, always did its best to hide those with less than noble intentions. He scribbles a note or two about the magical lodges, though it's clear that his interest in them is small. Mages, hoarding knowledge. What else is new., he sighs at the Therassic Spire, though Yazi's thoughts make him audiably hum. "That's... a great idea. We're bound to have things that they want. Or money. Everyone wants money.", he nods. "And I'd much rather have someone else digging through the shelves than me. I'd say we go in and ask."

Depending on whether or not we ask the monks now, or later.

The sight of the inn seems to surprise Garvid's mind pleasantly, and the smell from the kitchen tickles his hungring stomach. "I could really go for something war-", he starts saying, then his eyes glare up at the girls in the cages. His nostrils flare up, as his hand tightens around his halberd. The exotic gold, smells and music takes him back to the Arkonas' palace as his eyes glaze for a moment. Staring towards Gav, he takes a step towards the door. As he pries the door open, with almost enough force to shear it off the handles, he growls out grimly. "I'm off to the Sorry Excuse. Prefer the rats."

Perfectly happy to take the risks here, and if nobody wants to join, don't worry! Hope the mantis assassins haven't tracked us...

Hey guys, just a heads up - we had some shakeups at work, so my schedule's turned from going around every day to being on call every day. Which is generally fine, but I'm having some issue readjusting to the schedule. Might be a little patchy for the coming week!

Oh, Garvid will definitely be against wasting time. I'll go for something else instead, probably.

Mouse, I found this Which I imagine you'd be rather interested in. A +4 armour would effectively cost 16,000, so perfectly affordable.

EDIT: To avoid double posting, I'll probably decide on what to get either today or tomorrow. Is it okay to replace the halberd's blade with an adamantine one?

Huh. That seems right, I completely forgot about that magic crafting takes a LONG time. Would be pretty much my intention, though I don't think we can afford to spend 23 days in Kaer Maga.

Depends on what would be reasonable, I suppose. I could definitely go without one.

Here's the d20 post on it. I'm fine with either ruling, just to state, it's just that I've mostly ran with the rule allowed, since it does something to help the martials have nice things in the double digit levels!

GM - quick question, are you allowing for magical items to be combined for an extra 50% of the cheaper one's price? If so I'd be very interested in purchasing a Cord of Stubborn Resolve to add to my +2 Belt of Mighty Strength.

If not, I might just save up for something else down the line, but I'll be asking a local dwarf to make my halberd's blade adamantine.

Clasping the Deepwarden's hand with a firm grip, Garvid takes the offered pendant, hanging it around his neck. "Don't worry about it. Should've warned you about our rotten luck, too.", he gives the man a dry grin, before seeing the brambles and roots rise at Yazi's beck and call, blocking the passage. "You stay safe now."

In Kaer Maga, Garvid stares up at the seemingly endless cavern with a mixture of displeasure and interest. Never really understood how they do things here. Then again, they don't understand Korvosa either. The city guide, however, dispells a little of his anxiety with a time-tested pitch for money. The offer of the brothels has Garvid muttering, "Damn mainlanders." under his breath, shaking his head in amused disbelief. Mostly staring at Gav's mouth and fingers, he looks up as Talfryn begins floating in the air, the man's overt curiousity unable to contain him on the ground. The local said gangs and the sort going around the Ring. Flying's either going to attract them or make them avoid us. Either might save me some time.

"I agree.", Garvid nods at Yazi. "Whatever's coming, we oughta be prepared."

Breathing heavily, Garvid slides away the muck and gore from his face with disdain. "That was a whole mess.", he spits out. "You deal with that sort of horror daily?", he raises an eyebrow at Abra, as he casts a glance at his friends, the aftermath of the seugathi's mental assault thrice as awful as their physical abilities. I'm half convinced these days I'd much rather face an army than the things we do.

As Abra warns against exploring the tunnel, an idea that hadn't even appeared in Garvid's mind, his frown breaks into a deep laughter. "And here I was about to go playing in there. We're crazy, Abra, we're not suicidal." Tilting his head at the Grumms, he frowns. "Get a damn hold of yourself! We're already halfway there, the Duskwardens need to get up to town, and sure as an owlbear shitting in the woods, we're not turning back. We've made it so far, we'll keep you safe the rest of the way."

The seugathi's maddening emanation does little to stop Garvid's relentless onslaught. Waving his hand to throw away Trinia's glitterdust, he slowly removes the seugathi's head from his halberd. Casting aside the corpse, there's little emotion in his face as he menacingly steps towards. Without a word, he lifts the axe blade in the air, and brings it down onto its head.

EDIT: Also - as far as I knew, using a wand also provokes an attack of opportunity. I've rolled an attack in my spoiler for the wanding (damn wands of magic missile, they're mean!), so I'll leave it up to the GM to decide whether or not it applies!

The barrage of missiles seems to be taking a toll to Garvid, as he shakes his head, blood trickling from his nose and ears. The voice of Yazi echoing in his head, he tries instinctively to shake it aside, but there's little that stops Yazi's words. For the first time, his mind is clear. Ignoring Trinia's attack, he spits out a glob of blood.

Seeing the beast's hide charred by Talfryn's shadows, the bloodied mouth of Garvid snarls as he steps onto the first seugathi's mangled body. "Out of tricks, aren't you?", he hisses to the monster, as he reaches to grab its fanged jaw, bringing it down to bear unto the halberd's tip.

There's little place in Garvid's mind for the illusion to take place, as his sheer anger pushes through the spell. Shaking his head to cast the horrid image aside, Garvid inhales deeply from the air, filled with acid and blood. "You're not the scary thing in the dark anymore.", he snarls, as he takes a step forwards into the pool of seugathi blood, the steel tip piercing the beast's tough carapace as it's backed into the tunnel's wall, with no escape. Not being able to find it in himself to refuse to Trinia, the guardsman adds to Yazi's notes. "Just don't stop thinking with your own head." Seeing Li somewhat more sullen than usual, he purses his lips. "How you doing, kid?", he asks, as a smile flickers on his face for a moment. It might just cheer her up. Tag Li, see OoC.

==============================

Nodding appreciatively as Yazi tips the Duskwardens, Garvid grunts approvingly at the man. Nice to see someone cares about safety here. Then again, we don't have deadly undergrounds in Korvosa. He furrows his brows. Except the ones with the wererats. Or the daemons. Or whatever ancient mystical dreadfulness is under the Castle. Maybe we oughta get our own Duskwardens.

"No questions from me. If I see something I shouldn't see, I'll whisper to you. You tell me if you want me to go get it or start running.", he replies with a curt tone. I'd love to know just what's down here, but I'd imagine he doesn't want to scare the merchants. He leans on his halberd, and starts staring at the Twisted Door suspiciously, as if he doesn't particularly like it.

A pessimistic frown appears on Garvid's face at Yazi's answer. "The everyday person doesn't think that far ahead. I'd bet if Korvosa heard that the Cinderlands were having the same problem, they'd just shrug and go along their lives." He sighs. "I'd love for the Shoanti to prove me wrong.", he adds, before turning to Mouse and Li, the two other urbanites. "Can't say I'm too much use in the wilderness. That's birdbrains' territory. I can navigate and read a town alright, but this is just... too same-y."

Mouse wrote:
...an' bein' somewhere wha' doesn't smell like fish an' salt's a welcome change...

Snapping his fingers at Mouse, Garvid replies, "That's why it smells wrong, you're right!" Listening to the rest of the woman's point, he nods. "Yeah. I suppose, finding out more about the Queen and whatever's under the castle would do. Knowing's half the battle, right." He crosses his arms, glancing around the table. "So where's the nearest Shoanti town?"

Really looking forward to this book - the city barbarian vs the plains barbarians oughta be interesting! And would be interesting to see how Garvid's thoughts on the Shoanti change with the time in the Cinderlands.

While he's far from the 'all Shoanti are savages', especially after his time with Yazi, and the T-Bone and Gaekhen situation, he's still a bit wary and perceives them as a fair bit more aggressive and a lot more willing to fight over reason compared to the Korvosan people he's used to.

"Sure, sure. If nobody catches you, nothing happens, right?", he chuckles sarcastically.

"Laori Vaus. We met her rummaging through Scream's house, though that place was a mess even before she went there.", Garvid nods at Yazi's memory of the Kuthite. "She was a few raisins short of a cookie, sure, but didn't really strike me as the city-conquering sort. That said, if your god tells you to do something, most people would follow it through.", he pauses. Most. "We could do with sending them a message."

The tale of the Cinderlands' harsh climate puts a frown on Garvid's face. "Great. Everything else has tried to strip the damn flesh off our bones, let the weather join in the fun, too." Sighing deeply, he leans backwards, locking his eyes with Yazi's. "After the Arkonas, I'll take harsh and direct every day. Not to piss on your plans,", he says grimly, reaching for his back to grab his earthbreaker and thud it into the dust. "but why exactly would the tribes be rushing to help us? They don't like us Korvosans, and the city being in a state its in only means they can come closer, take the land and what they want with little retribution." He scoffs cynically. "The Queen's plot is probably the best thing to happen to them in decades." Tag Yazi.

Garvid's trip through the rural lands of Korvosa seems to do little to brighten his rather sullen mood. "Smells funny here.", he grumbles on occasion, the rustling of wildlife in the bushes and the unfamiliar songs of birds making him stand at attention, suspiciously eyeing the grass and the trees. The ranch is a relief to the man however, and a smile graces his face as he spies Trinia and Vesper. "Keeping your nose clean, I hope?", he inquires teasingly, before being rushed inside.

_______________________________________

"So, that's a no.", he answers with a deep sigh after Trinia shares her tale. "There does seem to be a lot more ghosts around these parts that I thought." Mysteries and mystics. Choosing to instead latch onto the part of the story about the Craghawks, he nods approvingly. "Good riddance - but everything you survive, you have to learn from."

In the basement, Garvid leans onto the wall, giving Trinia a glance as she walks in. Either she's gained it from getting rid of those a*#$#!!s, or something else..., he lowers an eyebrow. I suppose I'll keep an eye on it. Turning his head at Trinia, he seem to focus on the young woman's face intently. Hey, ghost. I know you can read my mind. You're not the first. You best come out clean soon. Deciding that Garvid's rather suspicious after the whole Meliya/Glorio business!

He listens to Neolandus' tale, the charcoal in his hand rapidly scratching the journal in his hand. As the tale grows more and more incredulous, his expression changes from curious, to disturbed. As the tale finishes with the story of ancient dragons and orcish invasion, the guardsman breathes out a sigh. "Well, things looking better than I hoped.", he adds a moment later, and as soon as the confused faces turn towards him, he shrugs non-chalantly. "Look - if you're right, then we're facing Ileosa with the powers of an ancient, Kuthite dragon.", he says, crossing his arms. "Which is a lot better than what I was thinking - Ileosa backed by Cheliax and their devilbinders. Unlike that dragon, they've gotten what they want for the past several hundred years."

Spotting Li's expression as she mentions the Cinderlands, Garvid nods compassionately. "Not much feeling like going to the wastes, either."

On one hand, the Arkona dungeon did go better than I'd have thought, especially the final fight. Though, the last fight was practically single-handedly won by Lord Talfryn's Wall of Force, as I don't believe we'd have lasted much longer against the barrage from the snake people - damage was rather high.

I'd say instead of doing that, we continue as planned, but add a few more minions, even if that'd mean removing the Advanced template from some of them - Action economy is king, and cutting through swathes of enemies is narratively cool!

Letting out a chuckle at Vencarlo's story, Garvid reaches to sit on a nearby crate, before the host reveals the content of at least one. Letting out a grunt, the guardsman sits down on the floor with a clang, warily keeping away from the crates.

Grabbing a piece of bread, the man's attention is drawn to the alchemists' tale, listening intently. Well, that's a surprise to nobody. Everyone dislikes everyone else., he summarises to himself as the tale reaches the part about Ichond's parents, tilting his head at Yazi to listen to her response, his lips quietly mouthing 'Marigold.'

"Trust us on that, Ichond - there's a lot of threats, represented or otherwise. But people just watching their shops ain't them."

===================================================================

The rustling of the crates sends Garvid jumping up, and through sleep-deprived eyes, he points his halberd at Zellara with a low grunt. His brain making connection with his body, he grunts out again, before sitting down on the ground. "It's you.", he blurts out. Staring at the cards, he lets out a cynical chuckle as his card is revealed. "Sure, that's me. All shining armour, flowing hair and pearly teeth.", he mutters out, shaking his head. It's not the first time I've fought someone stronger. But I'm not stopping, not for anyone.

The drawing, this time, seems to have sent Garvid into a thousand-yard stare. The first time it actually makes sense..., he stares out through the window to glance at the rising sun. Or a sign that I'm buying into the whole bullshit. Although, the tigers, the mantises... Choosing to rub a hand on his face instead, he stands up. "Well that one was a little clearer. But Zellara's insane if she thinks I'm shining my armour.", he chuckles a moment later, before turning to Neolandus and Vencarlo. "Don't get too excited. She's been there since... well. Since the old king died. First time she made any sense, mind you. It's official - we officially stirred up enough shit that the Queen noticed the smell.", he laughs out, before his face turns towards Yaziyah once more. "Yazi. You know of some Shoanti legends about what liv- exists down in the Castle? Since there's officially been enough magical f~$%ery happening, so we might as well start chasing myths now."

Out of town. Not out of trouble, but when has that ever happened. As the boat continues its rocking, Garvid seems heavily focused on his journal, only occasionally looking up at the river banks with a watchful eye.

The mention of the dagger brings Garvid back into a surly mood, souring even further as it's found to be missing. "Hanging was too good for that thing.", he spits out, shaking his head at Vencarlo's question. "In Veldraine? I don't trust anyone who prefers water over mud. And besides... I barely have friends left in Korvosa.", he gives a gravely grin. "But we have some sails, and that's as good as a friend in these times, I suppose."

Giving Kynes an amused chuckle, Garvid shakes his head. "We executed the bugheads for arson, Kynes. Much as I hate this place, I don't think even throwing the soil in the Jeggare's going to clean whatever happened here.", he harrumphs. Giving a shrug and one more look at the decadent opulence, he adds, "Letting the locals settle in is bound to be more constructive. When Korvosa's back to normal, it'd be nice to have a place with two stones standing ontop of each other, for whatever purpose it gets used." He sighs. Maybe we can turn it to a hospital. Just to spite every bastard that's crossed us so far.

Scoffing at the idea of a boat, Garvid shoulders his halberd. "Where to? We can get off the boat at Cal's manor. You should probably continue downstream. We oughta meet the Marshall and decide what's next." Patting the weapon, Garvid grunts out, "I'm partial to cleaning up Longacre, myself. Do some pest control."

I think our next step, Korvosa continuing its descent down Shit Creek nonwithstanding, might be checking out the Longacre building, since that's one of our only leads for the moment. But we should probably check with Marshall Kroft first.

Shaking his head at Li, Garvid's face turns into an indifferent smile. "Hells, kid, you chased a devil out of her own house, and we made sure she isn't coming back.", he gives the street kid a smile. "That's a helluva lot better than any of the other protectors of Korvosa have done today. If she knows what's good for her, she's never coming back." The idea of the instrument being brought to Cal, prompts a gruff grunt from Garvid. Not like we should be looting this place. But it's either us, the locals, or the Queen's lackies. If anything, we'll make sure it doesn't go actively hurting Korvosa. As the unrivaled riches of House Arkona go through their fingers, Garvid's charcoal scribbles the items found on his journal. "Remember, only difference between looting and confiscating is writing it down.", he chuckles, waving the journal in the air. You never know when someone's going to try and be a smartass about the law, and needs a handful of pages shoved in their gullet.

Garvid's tribulations and notations leave the man mostly quiet through the searching of the vast manor, though when the documents from the Cerulean Society are revealed, he kicks the chest with barely constrained anger. "Well, well. I can imagine the Society will be very interested in seeing this. Seeing as it'll be one of the last things they'll see. I wonder if Boule's response is in there, or is arriving soon." A loud grumble later, he shakes his head. "No sense making any more enemies right now. No point angering the scavengers and corpse pickers, when we have killers to catch."

Hmm..., a thought crawls itself into Garvid's mind as he glances over the letters, then a mischievous grin appears on his face for a brief moment. That just might work, down the line. And to see Boule's rat face... As Vencarlo picks up his belongings, the guardsman nods. "One last thing, before you leave. Vim... Mel...", he roars, "The living Arkona. She could read minds, and she knows about the little farm up river. I would recommend collecting our cousins,", he mutters, "And going somewhere where you'd be safer. Janderhoff comes to mind. At least until it's safe." Grinning grimly, Garvid adds, "Or you know for sure we're dead."

Ugh. Had a writer's block for this for a good few days, and GM, you did it better than I could.

"The dagger. Get that gods-blasted dagger out." Garvid whispers before the verdict is pronounced. "Let the other Arkona watch.", he grunts out quietly. As soon as the blade is in sight, he stands up at attention, nodding at Neolandus to lay down his judgement.

Garvid sits at attention as Neolandus pronounces his verdict. His hand on his halberd, he returns the stare from Glorio with a stone-eyed stare. It's done. He's facing his crimes. Maybe not all of them, but that's up to Pharasma to decide. A spark of hatred lights in his eyes as Cressida's voice denounces the law, but it quickly subsides as a vengeful smile graces his lips, locking his gaze with the rakshasa. And those are your final words. Wrong, spiteful. The guardsman's nostrils flare out. And afraid. You should be.

Nodding at the final verdict from Neolandus, Garvid moves forwards to stand towards the tied-up noble's chest. "Korvosa's crumbled many times, Arkona. But that just means we build her up again." With a furious kick, the jade chair tumbles into splinters, dropping the rakshasa to eye level. "Trosker ep Styrk, you rat bastard."

As Glorio is finally bound and tied, Garvid stands up, exhaling a heavy breath. He hacks out a bloody glob on the ground, and leans on his halberd. Another glance at the rakshasa, however, brings a grim smile on his face. Lord Arkona, caught and about to be punished for his crimes. Right in front of me. I'd love to drag you to Longacre... But I've never been less sure that you won't cut a deal with the Queen... Letting out another bloody cough, he nods between heavy breaths as Lord Talfryn briefs Neolandus and Vencarlo as to the current dire situation in Korvosa.

"Stri- *cough* ahem, strictly speaking, we've not been disavowed. Just defunded and de-staffed. But we're all deputies or else to the Guard.", he lets out a chuckle, lifting his bloody badge. "Although, Lordship here,", he tilts his head towards Talfryn, "Missed the part where the assassins that attacked you... Oh, and burned your school down, by the way - they're operating out of Longacre." Slowly descending to sit on the ground, Garvid continues. "So damaged is a good word for it, Lord Seneschal."

Taking out his journal, he raises his head at Neolandus. "I could use your aid in legal matters. We're in Old Korvosa, which as a quarantined zone could qualifiy as dangerous land. We're injured, which means our chances of safely transporting the captive,", he gives a not-so-gentle nudge with his boot to Glorio, "are reduced. And with your admissions, we have eight proofs of attempted murder, two counts of torture, at least one count of consorting with devils, if we ignore whatever he is." Glancing at the elephant's unmoving body in the corner, he lifts his eyebrows and laughs. "And two of endangering the public with wild animals."

"For the first eight alone, he'll hang eight times. I suggest we skip the torture, since I've had enough of that for a lifetime.", Garvid stands up, "And if you think the circumstances would allow for the execution to be carried out here in the interest of the public... I'll follow it through.", he finishes. "But we have to do it right, and give him the chance to say his final say and defense, rotten as he is."

Taking out the coil of rope, previously holding Meliya, Garvid growls for a second. And now that b@!** is bound to pop up again. Or run, if she knows what's good for her. I have to warn Vancaskerkin. Throwing one end of the rope over the resplendend chandelier, Garvid tightens the other end around the elephant's magnificent tusk. It's a shame. All this foreign beauty, all covering this rot. "Lord Talfryn, I'm afraid we'll need that chair.", he croaks out a moment later as he steps to grab Glorio.

I'd suggest we make it a little more official this time. I'll have a list of the crimes and fake fantasy legalese ready for after he's made his claim. And also, OOC, I couldn't resist the conceptual idea of a rakshasa not only being killed by mere mortal, but trialed and executed. He's bound to be rather irate at the thought, too.

As Glorio's assault lashes out towards Garvid, the guardsman swings in a desperate swing towards Arkona's blade, aided by Neolandus and Vencarlo. The rakshasa proves itself too swift, and as Garvid sees the blade go past his defenses, all he can do is brace himself for the rakshasa's assault, a saying from an old man from a long time ago echoing in his head. Knives. Dogs. Bows. Don't matter, Krein. Lean on your armour, and you'll see the dawn. That's all you hope for in the Guard, seeing the dawn. As the knife twists and the claws and fangs rip into him, he's left standing, countless cuts on his face, blood dribbling from his body.

Spitting out a glob of blood from his mouth, a wide, red smile appears on Garvid's lips. "That all?", he laughs, as he tosses his halberd on the ground and lunges to tackle Glorio. "Get him!"

Sunder: 1d20 + 27 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 27 + 4 - 2 = 31 Have to use that here, unfortunately. Also. Booo! I'll assume that misses.

With that, the damage is reduced by 7 on each attack, for a total of 19. Uncool, but signficantly better than the 38 that would drop Garvid.

If we all aid another Garvid (who has +25 with the flank) to Grapple, and afterwards pin him, Mouse can use her Pummeling Style to knock him out with a single blow. Or two single blows, as he'll lose his Dex to AC. Garvid might get shanked a couple of times, but he's used to it.

With Neolandus, Yazi, Talfryn, Mouse, Li, Vencarlo and Kynes, that's +12 just about assured on the aid another check, for the enviable total of +37.
