15- Garfaulk Sharpstone

Dwarven Bard with the Gunslinger multiclass archetype. Have made a full breakdown yet, but he inspires, then shoots. He is a pistole, I believe. Or builds towards one anyway.

Tha alls' lookin fairly thorough ter me! Nice work lad!

And if I know anyone who can handle a group that size, it's you lol. Breaking sailing lore down is interesting and makes sense for why, though couldn't navigation just be rolled into survival? They effectively do the same thing, just survival on the seas, though I suppose being in-land would be different. Very cool!

On the 4th round, when they drop to fatigued, do they also drop their animal aspects? Would be odd for, say, a werewolf to turn back to a human every 18 seconds while attacking things, but I'm curious if there's anyhting official in there about it (alas, not home to check. Just wondering)

That'd be a neat little house rule for hardcore games. Each time you are downed, your doomed condition goes up permanently.

Perhaps with a complicated ritual/quest to bring the doomed level down?

Yeah, I always figured dwarves use axes because they take the same sort of a swing as a pickaxe, and since their muscles are often developed for mining, axes make sense.

So CHA needs to provide a substantial benefit that is not so good that low-CHA characters are just not viable in play and that is personal, so that we don't get the Face surrounded by their low-CHA buddies.

Bonus to number of items usable works.

I was also considering that if the GM has to randomly pick a PC as the target for something bad, low CHA will be picked first.

Kind of CHA equals luck

Or maybe d20+charisma, otherwise one person gets picked on for everything

I get your point Noir, but PF Dwarves are not really known for their culture of doing things the "easy" or "right" way, I mean just take a look at the Boulder Helmet and Headbutt attacks in general.

I for one and glad to see that some NON-Human cultural stuff is getting baked into the new Edition, I always felt that many of the core Races/Ancestries were rather boring and same-y compared to the dozens of distinct and well defined Human Nations and Cultures.

Also, the idea that weapons have to look practical has LONG since passed in that 90% of people I've queried have no idea that a Scythe Weapon actually looks NOTHING like the iconic Scythe a farmer or DEATH carries and when they're corrected I've found they'd prefer to keep their head cannon fixed on the idea of swinging around an L shaped implement that would almost certainly get them killed if they tried wielding it in actual combat.

Ooo, I'm curious, what's a real one look like? Tried looking it up but only found the fantasy ones lol

I would love to have Heavy Armor be able to take more enchantments, or take enchantments easier, or something along those lines, to help it stay competitive with high Dex builds

I would love bloodlines that gave access to multiple spell lists, but with lesser bloodline abilites, while bloodlines thaat give but one spell list have stronger bloodline powers. That would be pretty cool

Garfaulk, I would think with the possible new rules for PF2e, a 20th level fighter would have legendary prof bonus 28, plus Str 24 for a +7... throw in a +5 weapon and you would have a +40 hit.

Ah, you were responding to not using level bonus... my bad, I will still leave this post because +40 is such a wicked number. :)

That i was-and holy crap, +40 to hit sounds amazing O.O 42 if you're using a bow and nothing is in the way

I haven't heard anything, but I sure hope so. Proficiency is more than enough. Just have UTEML at 0-2-4-6-8 and leave it at that. It'd be so clean and nice.

Then a level 20 fighter with a strength of 24 and a +5 weapon in Pathfinder 2 would have a +20 to hit, where as in PF1 the same fighter would have a 31.

if I pre-order, does it charge me now or when the product ships? I havent pre-ordered in a while.

Do cantrips scale?

Well I do hope you added a few character options. There's no ice-based spells until mid-high level. How thers ary least one level 1 cold spell that can scale

Speaking of long-term Core options that never show up at my table... <_<

And things that a griefing player could cheerfully abuse.

Ah Cayden Cailean. In Skull and Shackles, one of the PCs had been cursed, so they brought her to the temple the cleric worshipped at. Which was also a bar. Which led me to the npc saying my favorite line so far in an RPG. "So uh, what Ales you?"

Some things might be disruptive-or maybe it's just fun you weren't expecting

Ok, I'll bite. What happened to signature skills?

I'f i not GMing, I'd probably go either Human or Rhyphorian Star Shaman Mystic, might be the first time I give that sort of character a shot.

The offices still closed? Been waiting to hear back on an email I sent on like Friday, didnt realize this was happening till a moment ago. Hope everyone is ok

It took me way too long to realize I wasn't on the Starfinder boards when reading this.

I could definitely see an update happening, ideally in the format of Inner Sea Gods, my favorite work from paizo in general. More information on them is always nice, and if they need any rebalancing at all, this would be the time

Garfailk laughs like a maniac when the explosion goes off, watching as the debris and flames burst out from where he'd rigged the seefour. This was why he was here, away from his home, out in these dangerous lands-to blow stuff up. If only he'd had enough to keep some... though as he daydreams n he notices the walls starting to collapse "Uh lads, perhaps we should get movin..." and with that he runs, following Jolga

if just moving, I have 60ft per round. Running I think I have 100. Still slower than everyone else, but yeah. Running!

Garfaulk sid his best to catch him, but if the elf wanted to hit the ground so badly, who was he to stop him? Pulling the broken ring loose, he dropped it on Ton, hearing him make some sort of sound. "Eh, yer fine. He's fine." Climbing to the top, he makes his way to the structural base of the dish, putting the squishy material in each strategic location. Taking one of them and molding it into a hand,he made it form a rude gesture before pulling out the detonators.

Sticking the metal rods and wires into each, he admires his handiwork, though felt it was missing... something. Taking a bit of gunpowder from his stash, he spreads it around on top of everything, making sure it all had a nice coating of something he knew had so.e kick to it. Satisfied, the dwarf almost slides down the ladder, giving them all a thumbs up. "Charges set-whos ready for tha show? Whaddya mean, Jolga? It's just a ball o fire, we ought to be fiiiine" Though the dwarf would listen to his new ally, then taking a few more steps away.

once we're kind of in a safe place but not too safe...

Hearing Wulf scream in agony, Garfaulk takes a step up to fire into the room "Watch yer position there Charles, yer blockin the way! Though nice knifework" reloading Slagbreather, he pokes it into the room just enough to fire at whoever he could get to Either the one Charles is in front of, or the one next to him. They get mah guns, ya might as well tie me to tha dish when we blow er to smithereens!" Though he tried to hush his voice halfway through that yell, just in csse someone was around to hear them. I cant see into the room even if I'm positioned right in front of the door. Is this a weird thing because of where the door is in relation to the square, or is it actually supposed to be that offset?

The dwarf picked up the box, hands shaking, wide grin on his face as he opened it, expecting some sort of pistol, or rifle, though was puzzled by the tubes and wires. Fiddling about with the bits and pieces, his eyes widened. "Well now, aint tha sumthin-what in blazes!" he yelps a bit as the flames singe his beard. Patting out the flames quickly, he packs it back into the box. He groans a bit, thinking back to that merchant who offered them the body parts earlier. Still, when he got back up, box tucked under his arm, he had a glint in his eye. "Heh. Looks like someone out there likes me-and they've left me a bit o a gift. This lass ere will be a fun one. Though we're gonna need help settin er up. Think we can find tha metal part merchant again? Throwin flames around may is bound to be a good time"

The suspense! Lol. And thanks Charles- yeah, brain didn't feel so goodthe other day lol

He is protecting their assets. Having a group like the Society on your good side is likely good for business. And I'm sure plenty of people realize their mistake and get partial refunds. Partial. And those that don't... well, those that don't return them likely ran out of ammo when they needed more than 2 shots.

The dwarf is easy enough to find, as he's tossing crates and junk aside, digging through feverishly, looking for something-and then stops at the dirt. Digging more carefully now, he starts looking through it meticulously, no wanting to damage whatever lay there. "Not yet. But I think I'm about to find sumthin... mighty interestin..."

lol I've been checking every wall of every room since I found that note-no hint required though appreciated lol

Garfaulk, looking around as they approach, suddenly feels like this place... this is what he's been waiting for, looking for. Even breaking out Whiskifiss had him looking for basements or other places where one would have a bunch of small rooms in a row, and this place fit the bill. His gut telling him left, he proceeds, Crescendo in hand. "Nah, There's no way... could it be..." for the first time, Gafaulk was talking... quietly. And to himself. Checking each room carefully, he proceeds with a bit of caution until he got into what seemed like a bunch of cells, starting towards the last one on the left, giving the door a kick to see if it was open, not taking his hands off his weapon, just in case.

Bard 4/Gunslinger (Mysterious Stranger) 1 | HP 46/46 | AC 17 T 13 (15v Firearms) FF 14 | CMB +3, CMD 13 | F: +5, R: +8, W: +4 | Init: +3 | Perc: +6 | Grit 3/"4" (Max is normally 3) Speed 20ft

Garfaulk groaned, making sure Crescendo was cocked and ready to fire-he hated fighting clerics. Is it Staked or Stacked? misread it the first time, and Jolga and Wulf seem to have read it each their own way as well The dwarf grimaced a bit as the state of the bodiues, but then gave Jolga a curious look "Oy, I intend to be buried when I go-dwarf returnin to the earth an all tha. Ideally facedown, so anyone who digs me up can kiss my arse. Wha's wrong with bein buried? Despite his banter, he was still keeping a watchful eye out for movement, gun at the ready.

Garfaulk chuckles, turning to Zeke, whispering "Heh. 50 gold says Wulf gets him" with a wink before following along towards the giant dish "Hells yes! Got my explosives both primed n' ready! Heh, good thing I never fell off'r tower, eh?"

---

As they approached the ravine, Garfaulk noticed the birds and became a little more upbeat "See them? Those'r scavengin birds. Maybe someone did all the heavy liftin fer us already." Still, he made sure to have Crescendo in hand, with Slagbreather set back to the blast cartridge, though made sure he had the laser rifle wear crescendo usually sat. The heavily armed dwarf grunted-he'd probably have to make a decision about one of these guns eventually-though that day was not today.

its a cool rifle with 20 shots in it before empty, which was my only holdup on taking it originally, especially with those two alternate modes using half the charges it has.

Wulf, were you saying taking the rifle or the EMP gun? Because if someone else wants the rifle, I'm pretty good with Crescendo for the moment. If not, I can definitely make use of it.

Garfaulk whistled at the pistol, marveling at it and what it could do "Now tha's a weapon fer Ton if I ever saw one-help ya get yer revenge on Trett, eh?" It was fancy, though a bit too fancy for his tastes. He liked rougher guns. The ring had his curiosity as well, giving it a lookover, though he had no idea what it did.

Garfaulk looks up as Wulf lobs the corpse of the manticore over the side of the tower edge "What in blazes-aw come on!" and with that, the dwarf dashes off to the side, getting 60ft away before the body hit the ground, not wanting to be there when the impact likely splatters people with gore

I don't normally do this, and I'm probably putting this in the wrong place, but I'm going to try it anyway. Apologies in advance.

So, I play PFS. So do a lot of people. This year, my local PFS crew has decided to try to raise money for Extra Life. Noble cause. Problem is, we're coming up a bit short on our goal, which isn't exactly a great start. So I came over here after pushing it around on Facebook to see if maybe some of you might be interested in boosting us up a bit.
Here's a link to my page for the greater Sacramento team's Extra Life drive.

"But what's my cat got to do with this?" you might ask.

If you click on the link, you'll be directed away from Paizo's site over to Extra Life, where you'll see a picture of my very cute cat, Himiko. She has no idea I used a picture of her for my profile picture in a frankly shrewd and calculated attempt at driving donations through cute cat pictures, which the internet loves for obvious reasons.

She is a very cute cat.

If we hit my personal donation goal (only $25 away!), I will put additional pictures of my very cute cat, possibly with witty captions, on the internet for people to see, linking to them in later posts.

If we hit the team donation goal, I will put pictures of when she was a kitten (and thus even more adorable somehow) on the net.

Donate to charity, see pictures of a very cute cat. It's a win-win.

All my searching hasn't come up with a clean answer for this, so I figured I'd create a thread.

I have a searing need to put Improved and Greater Grapple on an animal companion, specifically a big cat animal companion. Provided I raise said cat's Intelligence to 3 (via that ability score increase ability buried in the AC progression table) before doing so, would it be legal in PFS to select Improved Unarmed Strike, Improved Grapple, and Greater Grapple over time?

My research indicates that the only restrictions on an animal companion taking feats are Int 3+ and physical capability to perform the action. The former restriction is cleared via the ability score increase, the latter is fuzzier (pardon the pun.) Improved and Greater Grapple are supported by the cat's inherent Grab ability, but the Improved Unarmed Strike prereq for those is more curious. I imagine a cat would totally be able to perform an unarmed strike, using one or more limbs/headbutt, so I think that's clean enough to work, but am unsure. I'm totally visualizing the cat performing either the aforementioned headbutt or a wheeling double pawed kick with its hind legs, similar to how a horse would kick with its rear legs.

tl;dr: Improved Unarmed Strike on a 3+ Int Animal Companion. PFS Legal?

On Oct 31st, 2010 my PF group finished our first AP: Legacy of Fire.
Our game lasted 16 sessions comprised of roughly 5 hours per session on a roughly biweekly schedule (some adjustments occurred due to scheduling snafu's and once we were unable to play for the better part of a month and a half). We had 6 players, with one drop, resulting in 5 players at terminus. The characters ended up at 14th level using the fast progression chart with a number of combats towards the end skipped.

----------------------------------------------------------
The cast (original party characters marked with asterisk):
Cyprian Mazarin*: LG human priest of Sarenrae. Ended up a Mystic Theurge. Only character to not die in the course of play. Strong ties to Aldriana, Kyoll, and Tessara.

Kyoll*: NE tiefling rogue. Seemingly marked for glory from the get go, got the group's first kill and the group's last kill. Died and was reincarnated a few times, ended up in the same body she started in thanks to a wish. Strong ties to Aldriana and Tessara. Still on the fence about Cyprian.

Tessara Wyrdon*: Elven fighter. Fell in combat at the claws of the Peryton, remained deceased until the denouement of the campaign where she was resurrected by Kyoll. Level 4 or so? Strong tie to Kyoll and Cyprian (and Tessara, by way of birth)

Aldriana Wyrdon: Elven wizard and sister to Tessara. Replaced Tessara and served the party well over the course of the campaign. Strongly tied to Cyprian.

Morgrym Stonefist*: Dwarven fighter. Fell beneath the Carrion King's mighty greataxe. Left to rot as the party lacked the capacity to return him to life, until the denouement where he too was reincarnated (into a dwarf, lucky!) Was lucky enough to meet his undead father before himself biting it.

Kyras: Half elven druid and escaped slave. Replacement to Morgrym. Favored elemental forms and died only once (though I did almost get him in flavor text!) at the hands of Jhavul himself. Reincarnated in the denouement from a scroll.

Murvy Busharcher*: Halfling sorcerer. Became the moldspeaker but was consumed by green slime in the Stone Speakers. Was sorely missed. Reincarnated in the denouement. Had strong ties to Tessara and Aldriana.

Marcus Trueblood: Tiefling fighter, then an aasimar fighter, then a drow fighter, then a tiefling fighter. The party's beatstick (cleared entire rooms with his great cleave in Bayt-al-Bazaan) and resident tasty meat snack. Found Haleen.

Beldin* (surname expunged): Halfling ranger/rogue. An expy of Belkar from Order of the Stick who didn't end up being a major player due to scheduling conflicts. His player was forced to drop and Beldin was later rendered to dust by the Proteans of Kakishon. Not terribly missed.

So of the original six party members that set out from Solku to liberate Kelmarane, two pushed through to the end. Great fun was had by all, and a great tale was woven. We didn't get to use the 3rd book at all due to the actions of Kyoll and a pragmatic approach to handling a certain scroll, but the other five books provided ample play to engage our group a good 9 months or so. I wish I'd been able to find adjusted stat blocks for the last book (from 3.5 to Pathfinder), but struggled through with a few missing monster entries and a scratch built build for Jhavul at the end. He's the big bad, he deserved a bit of star treatment!

And that treatment definitely had the party seeing stars! Jhavul was able to kill the fighter twice (in as many rounds, full attack for 250? Don't mind if he does...) and the druid once, and provided Cyprian his closest near death experience ever (Awesome Blow into a lake of lava? Awesome...). The druid bought the group a reprieve with a lucky Baleful Polymorph (Jhavul plane shifted out immediately to get that fixed) long enough to reincarnate the fighter, and when Jhavul came back 20 minutes later, the group was able to grind through the last of his 440 hp (maximized hit dice, :P) to win at great cost.

We next start Council of Thieves where I step down from GM'ing and get to play my first character ever in his second plot reset, Arcadias Battleblade the elven greatsword wielding rogue. He's not optimal, he's not even practical, but he's awesome!

A debate came up today when we were discussing build decisions, revolving around touch spells and their delivery in Pathfinder.

When one casts a touch spell, you can hold the charge to deliver the spell at a later time. This much is clear. But what kind of action does this take? Normally, it's a standard action to perform a touch attack, but in the case of touch spells the standard action to touch is subsumed in the initial casting (if you don't hold the charge). Consider:

It's my turn. I cast Cure X Wounds (standard action). I hold the charge (no action), then move up (move action) behind my big friendly fighter. What kind of action does it take to touch my friendly target and apply the spell? Bear in mind that this is all happening on the same turn, separated only by a single move action between casting time and delivery.

We've not been able to find a clear cut case of RAW, just a Q&A on the WotC board for 3.5.

So, I've not been able to figure this one out on my own, thought I'd post a thread and get the opinions of others and possibly a word from on high as to what's what.

I have two different site URL's, with disparate content that each claims to be the Pathfinder System Reference Document, unless I've misunderstood something somewhere.

The first URL:
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/

The second URL:
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/

So, what's real and what's not? Is the paizo site PRD the 'official' PRD and the other is unofficial? Does one contain player created content and the other not?
