Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

Sorry phone died recently, so haven't been able to post at work. New phone now though.

Shuffling forward into the lift, Gaius forces himself to be more aware, rather than running ideas through his head of how to break the encryption s.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

Going away from tomorrow, so may not be able to post much but back on Tuesday.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

"Right so I can power this up, but it will take me time to get through the encryptions and this isn't the place to be doing that unless desperately needed. There seems very little left to discover here, although it might be useful to get a sample of the adept's DNA and see if he is in any of the planet's databases. I feel we may have exhausted this lead and now need to analyse the information we have gathered. For after all we do not know what we are actually facing. Perhaps with access to the Inquisitor's knowledge and libraries, we may be able to find out more. I suggest we fall back, get the Inquisitor to put guards in place on this spire and look at the other leads we had."

If I read the room description post earlier then this is the last room that we hadn't explored (unless there were other options on the lift). As suggested in character I think we look at some of the other leads we had ( and may have from the dataslate).

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

Sorry I've been a bit slack. Kind of assumed we needed to find the dataslate as this is a room with no other exit and was waiting on someone else to look, but could have asked in gameplay somehow.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

As Gaius is moving back from the body, one of the 2 servo skulls that still circle his head, provides him with an image that draws his attention. Stepping back with renewed purpose he grabs the tech-priest's data slate, a look of triumph on his face.

Search 43+10 helm-10: 1d100 ⇒ 14

'Ah ha, a clue. Now let me see if I can get this working. Hmm well the screen doesn't seem to be working, but if I connect this cable here I can redirect the feed to my dataslate. Right then here we go"

Tech-use 70+10 miu (+10combitool?): 1d100 ⇒ 31 4dos

Doing a more familiar task, Gaius' focus returns and he quickly gets the dataslate working.

I hope this contains a clue, for otherwise i know not the next step

Hope i read your last post right this time

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

Thanks. Edit-misunderstood

"I have the tech-adept's dataslate, let us pull back from this room."

"I can't find anything, but there must be a clue here somewhere"

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

"We must search the adept if we are to find out what they were doing here"

Darting out from the others Gaius searches the body of the tech-priest, but the shimmerings distract him and he finds very little.

Was it 1 dos for the first bits including the dataslate right? or was that just a given if you looked?

Please ignore last spoken bits, so does that mean I spot the pattern above but not the one behind?

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

His thirst for knowledge, leads Gaius to become a spectator rather than a participant in the fight with the mysterious monstrosity, drawn to its remarkable abilities. However this 'spectator' role puts Gaius in a good position to see the new threats.

What sort of lore test would it be to see if I can work out that they are phasing in and out? I figure obviously F Lore Necron, but as phasing exists in other places (such as the C'tan phase sword) I wondered if it might also be covered by something else. Also does the tech adept body appear to have enough cybernetics that we might be able to get data from it's systems?

Thumbing the switch for his conversion field, Gaius switches it back on and checks his weapon, before climbing out of the cart keeping close to the Sister for protection. Using his auspex and senses he scans the area, moving the 2 servo skulls to give him views around obstacles, looking for any potential threats access points to the chamber.

Just keeping Combat Formation in play as well.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

" Oh this is very interesting. We have two files here. One is the access codes to the door, Master Rakavet, I believe we will need your expertise to broadcast these and secondly we have a rather corrupted journal entry which is as follows:
'A once in a lifetime chance, literally, as none are allowed to return...++++....(resumes) the untold secrets that have lied for millenniums....+++....It is finally my turn, saying goodbye to my brothers...+++...Damn the Priest of Mars and their monopolization of knowledge...'

"The memory bank of one of the servitors contains a partial audio file in the language of the Adeptus Mechanicus. My knowledge of this is limited and perhaps Master Rakavet could confirm my understanding of this, however it is from 3 weeks ago and seems to explain that these spider-like machines consume dead flesh and non-organic matter, but are otherwise no threat and will be replaced although nothing is said about from where. I don't think we can jump to that conclusion yet sister, we have a partial audio file in the language of the Adeptus Mechanicus and some Imperial excavation equipment. We should proceed, but be wary. Master Rakavet could you help me with this door?"

Not sure if my auspex counted and allowed me to find the dataslate earlier, but if not Phineus you would have spotted it.

The servo skulls now hovering around him, Gaius looks over the door for a way to open it.

Not sure what you would want me to roll, it is xenos it will probably have to be Rakavet

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

Cool I will get a post up now then.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

Just a little unsure about techna-lingua, as far as I can work out that is from RT and so doesn't feature in DH books (certainly 1st ed which I have) so I haven't got it, but I do have Linguistic mastery from Ascension if that helps. Or were you aiming for secret tongue (tech), which I definitely don't have. Rakavet has secret tongue (tech), so although he doesn't have Techna-Lingua on his profile that may be due to the same issue and it would probably be safe to assume he would as a tech-priest. So I can direct it to him if that helps.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

" Ah an excavation site, this brings back some memories. Hmm it would appear whoever was excavating this area came well prepared and left in a hurry, what did they find? ... Ooh, 2 servo skulls, let me see if I can power them up, they may just come in handy."

Returning to his position in the advance, Gaius prepares to advance.

Gaius rummages amongst his belongings, before producing 2 small evidence containers "Yes, yes of course, let me just... ah here. These will do. Yes well done, Master Faeyd I didn't realise you would be so ... er thorough! One point Sister, the Tactica may not advise changing plans, but we have new information, with regards the light. Might it be wise to use Master Faeyd's stealth to scout ahead a little? We can offer him some support from here and possibly prepare an ambush of our own, should it be required."

Gaius steps forward to take a sample of the metal and flesh monster and the metal spider (if he can find a fragment) for later analysis, whilst pondering the creatures.

Since regaining conciousness Gaius has kept quiet, his mind reliving the horror of the flames and how close he came to death. he remembers feeling the surge of Master Marleno's help and with it the peace and extra power as if some greater power was helping to heal him further and faster. As the others prepared to move on he pulled himself to his feet, expecting to feel pain as his movement tightened his skin, but he felt only mild discomfort. Muttering a prayer under his breath he checked his weapons and prepared to follow the others.
When Sister Federica spoke he replied "I can still function at about 60% Sister, I have been blessed by Master Marleno's power and something greater as well, it hurts but not as much as it should. I agree with your tactical plan I would also point out that these tunnels concentrate fire and offer us no cover, so we should increase our spacings to prevent our whole group being lost to flame or explosion."
Activating Combat Formation to give everyone my Int bonus of 12 to their initiative roll (instead of Ag) if they need it.

As Rakavet offers the stimm shot, Gaius says "Alas I think I would need many and by the time we got back I would be addicted, this I must fight with willpower for now."

Sorry i haven't posted in ages. Various connection issues haven't helped and the longer it has been the longer the post that is needed. Stressing about an interview tomorrow, but once that is out of the way i will get a big post up. Loved the fight even if i was down and out pretty quickly.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

Sorry about the delayed response. I am slightly unsure about how my injuries affect me going forward and I am happy to use an FP to facilitate some healing. As I currently understand it the healer power has removed my crit damage and given me back 1 wound, however I have 13 levels of fatigue which is way past my toughness bonus and gives me a -130 to every roll until I can rest for 8 hours. Unless I use Stimm which lasts a whole 3d10 rounds! Like I said happy to use fate points to make me useful again.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

Sorry, busy couple of days. Parents meet future parents in law. Back posting tmrw eve (gmt) or Saturday at the latest.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

Was just looking at the healer power, think it actually removes my crit damage first. Leaving me very crispy still though.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

I'm not bothered either way, although with solid projectile my guns may need RF to wound tough single targets (as demenstrated here) combat isn't really my main purpose.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

Wow those were some nice rolls Phineus.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

Ok cool that then takes me to 4 crit, 13 levels of fatigue (which takes me unconcious) and stunned for a round. I will amend my FP on profile. It is up to you but would probably be fair to say it got used to autopass the fire going out. Otherwise that will probably kill me or seriously hamper the party if they are helping me.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

Not sure i will have a read back through the threads and see.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

That's ok, it is a tough world and scholars should probably stay out of direct combat!
Sorry i meant that i have 13 wounds so the 16 wounds taken, takes me to 3 on the crit chart. So did i read that right, that i can ignore the extra crit damage and lose this turn but then am no longer on fire.
Thanks i think that may be all that keeps me alive, for now! ;)

Yes Logis takes my reaction, luckily however i have 'step aside' which gives me an extra reaction that can dodge only.

I was really happy with that roll to hit, what a shame it will do about as much damage as a swarm of mosquitoes!!!

While i think of it Bayou, when i made Gaius I assumed that it would be possible to load the shotgun part of my Spectre assault wpn with mixed ammo, ie 2 Inferno rounds and then 2 hyper penetrators. I assumed this would be ok, in the same way as a modern day soldier would load a predetermined number of tracer rounds in a magazine. However just realised that I never asked if it was ok. Is it? Otherwise i can change it.

Male Forge World Omnicron -DX Born Verispex Adept FP 3/5

I'm assuming that photvisors that protect against photon flash grenades will protect against the bright lights.
Also for note my conversion field was switched on when I touched the box, so is still running.

Following Sister Federica's advice Gaius moved back down the corridor, as ther was little to no cover he moved behind the others to where he could still maintain line of sight to the lift shaft, once in position he lay down to minimise his target area. Directing the others in front to prevent the obstruction of lines of sight, he readied himself for the attack.

Was hoping to use combat formation and allow everyone use of my Int bonus (12) to their initiative instead of AG, but your call as this is a late post.
