Good to know all are here still
So going to be a little slow still for a little while more which is fine
everyone traveling and testing GL and Best

Knock Knock

Drisquar at your movement speed of 200 it takes like a half a round to be out of Telepathy range.

Well that makes him a pretty darn good scout

Drisquar scouting:
At 200 in mist form it is pretty easy to whip back to where the traders had last been. Takes a round to get there.

So there is the direction the traders are heading in and the one they came from.

So I take it to mean you are going the opposite way of the traders, back along the way they had come.

So how far are you going to go? How many rounds of movement?

Excellent then Drisquar

It will be interpreted to mean the same direction that Sanriel had originally be taking, along the backtrail of the Peddler and His Wife.

Presuming you are moving at normal speed, walking, taking normal precautions

Would you mind an overall stealth roll to have in place up front?

Drisquar which direction are you heading.

Back to where the merchants had been
In the direction they were heading
Along their backtrail

@Delyliath - Broken PC is never fun. I hope you didn't lose anything precious from the hard drive ...

@GM - Not that it mattered, the poor creature was targeted by Ill Omen too, so it should have rolled twice on the fortitude save and taken the worst one : )

My bad sorry about that

Will remember that in the next tussle coming up a post or three more down

Poor Monster

Fellian is able to deliver the touch attack spell with little issue at all. The Ogre Snail Mashup is easy enough to attack and swoop away from.

Fort Save for next Round (Evil Spell I like it) is Save vs DC19: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

Then after Delyliath makes her attack takes it all up to a higher point

So at the end of this portion Monster Total Damage Taken is 110 and it collapses to the ground, slowly writhing and twisting in death throes as well as effects of the first round of the spell.

Congrats on defeating this monster to the party one and all.

Experience divided up evenly between those attacking and moving to = 2250 each to
Delyliath
Illia
Jhaelwyn
Drisquar

RP XP later on

So now that it is defeated, onward towards the caravan I presume, or what does the party want to do before hand?

BTW there is no appreciable treasure on this creature. It has no need and it had left all the goods in that prior site of a battle against it. Obviously the PCs are much tougher than their exterior appearances might suggest.

Ouch Delyliath
That is painful

No issues at all
My life has been as usual, hampering

Well let us start what I suspect will be the final round for the poor monster

Utilizing the Initiative last rolled all PCs (Save Sanriel) go, then Monster, then Sanriel

Begin (Mighty Karate Chop Hand Signal)

I swore I had posted he would arrive the end of the last one.

All good will continue it one then

Sanriel is the last to go this round

Gads the monsters cannot roll high can they ;)

The strange aberrant thing in front of those there looks about with dim, dull, bulging eyes and with a heave of its large gut spews forth a vomited like mess of partially digested 'things' digestive juices, and who knows what else.

Acidic Vomit Attack

Cone 45% to the front (Hence where is Illia) 30 ft range

Ref Save vs DC 20 for Half Damage
Damage: 3d4 ⇒ (4, 3, 1) = 8
Fort Save vs DC 20 or be Nauseated for Duration in Rounds: 1d4 ⇒ 1

Even Front
Odd Flank

Random: 1d6 ⇒ 6

She in the front arc or flanking

Need to know who is roughly where for the critters move is all

Otherwise will just presume Drisquar is in front and Illia to the side and really no one else close enough

Phone posting, pardon typos.
Total damage end of rd 3 = 70 PTS.
IT will attack again, for those Ty here here re yyou, gront, ide, rear, above, etc

Is he in trouble?

No for this initiative (still individual for this fight) the others all beat out the monster, and Sanriel is the only one going after the Ogre Snail Flail Mashup

Everyone else go first please
save Sanriel

Sorry everyone been a junky week

Reading tonight and posting tomorrow

Fair comments on the Init portion and as a DM/GM I have never been one to make any rolls for PCs at all.

Rd 4 will be the last separate Init Roll for this fight and as I think on it will have it be a single Init Roll at the start for the other fights

I have always done it per round yes...

Thanks all so far
Yeah I was not going to go all graphic, etc.

Unless someone asks for it in specific then it will be like via PM to keep it separate

But yes thanks

Rd 3
Monster Init 12 (already rolled)
PCs Roll for Init please
Illia
Delyliath
Drisquar
Sanriel
Fellian 22
Jhaelwyn 12

At that speed he can make it there (about 200 move away)

Reasoning would indicate it left from the city the two peddlers left from and is heading to the same, other, drow city effectively (ahead) of them as well.

Thanks Jhaelwyn
I would not touch on that theme personally so no fears there

My take on Drow is very influenced by Dark Elves from Warhammer so I wanted to ask up front

Delyliath wrote:

Delyliath sighs a little hearing about Illia and Drisquar engaging in combat.

"You can't leave those kids roaming on their own for a second that they instantly stumble in some kind of trouble. Just don't kill them please, It might be useful to have a sleeper agent in the Underdark trading routes" she says telepathically to her group. on the other hand she addresses the merchants with a smile and says
"it has been a pleasure doing business with you." and then vanish in thin air appearing back where the battle is going on with her rapier unsheathed.

She kisses her blade and says "I might as well give this beauty a try don't you think?"

[dice=Initiative]1d20+4

I'll make my attack assuming I can get in a flanking position. if I can't or is immune to flanking decrease 2 from the attack roll
I am also assuming I can attack but feel free to resolve this after the next turn of the enemy

[dice= attack 1]1d20+16
[dice=damage 1]1d6+2
[dice=conductive vampiric touch 1]6d6

if I manage a full round attack

[dice= attack 2]1d20+11
[dice=damage 2]1d6+2

Yes it is large so you can get into a flanking position

I will count this as Move then Attack in what is the end of Rd 2 (moving last this time based on what has already happened then back into Init Order for Rd 3 where the monster has already rolled Rd 3 Init for the Monster
Init Rd 3: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12)

Monster Total Damage Taken is 61 at the end of Rd 2 (Giving me a great idea how to structure future combats also
So Rd 3 Starting Off (And yes I am giving the PCs the benefit of the doubt and it is deliberate)

Monster Init 12 (already rolled)
PCs Roll for Init please
Illia
Delyliath
Drisquar
Sanriel

Meredian approaches the cart. Who all is present? Is the fighting here or farther away? I'm a bit confused.

There is the Trader and his Mate

Their Pet Rat Swarm
Their cart (between a cart and a wagon in size)

Driquar and Illia are off fighting the monster that is approaching

Sanriel is also moving towards the fight

The peddlers are packing up and starting to head in the direction they had come from, to avoid the conflict coming up

Delyliath had been bargaining with the peddlers and just disappeared

Jaduf is lurking about the cart area. He has been sneaky and had spent some time on the roof essentially

Anazian is just looking on and Jhaelwyn is heading in the same direction as Sanriel had been going

So there are the cart, after Delyliath disappears, is Meredian, Jaduf, the Peddler and his mate and their rats

(Did I miss anyone)

Housekeeping Items:

I am on EST (Florida)
Days off are Wed, Fri, Sat
Otherwise work 9.5 hour days and tend to be busy (so you all understand)

Got one question, anyone here under 18?

Also if there is a topic that someone does not want mentioned, touched on, etc, PM me what it is. I do no need to know the reason, just you saying it is more than adequate a reason is all.

That is asked mostly as you all are heading to a Drow City and I want to make sure it is all going to go smoothly, etc.

No there are little things like walls and such

note to self even hand drawn maps are better than none

Drisquar wrote:

Not a problem, I mentioned the miss chance as that's a bit more key

Dris winces slightly as the beast batters him with blows that are mostly turned aside thanks to his celestial heritage. He then strikes again and again, almost too quick to perceive.

1d20+15 Attack one for 1d6+6+1d6

1d20+10 Attack two for 1d6+6+1d6

The Strange monster in front of Dris seems to be stung a bit with those blows and is becoming a bit more frantic in the flailing and attacks

37 Total Damage done to the Monster

Full Attack Again (It is not very bright)

Attack 1: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (16) + 17 = 33
Damage 1: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (3, 2) + 5 = 10
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 37

Attack 1: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Damage 1: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (3, 1) + 5 = 9
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 5

Attack 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Damage 1: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (5, 5) + 5 = 15
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 1

Attack 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Damage 1: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (7, 6) + 5 = 18
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 90

1 hits, 3 misses (it might wise up a little next round)
Total Damage = 0 (Due to the DR)

Well does Illia have an action yet or Init for Rd 3

Sanriel will be arriving at the end of this round based on Spd and what I had said before
Anyone else?

Rd 3 Init for the Monster
Init Rd 3: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12

Apologies I missed seeing the DR. The attacks are just giant club like fists so reduce by 10 each one that hit so total damage a very paltry 9 points of damage

Monster attacked for Rd 1

Drisquar wrote:

1d20+13 Initiative, I think I go first

Dris reforms, and strikes lighting quick with his rapier 1d20+15 Attack 1

1d20+10 Attack 2, possible crit

1d20+10 Doubt this confirms, however, due to Deadly Ambush, my Deadly Strike activates, as it hasn't acted yet in combat, and thus is flat-footed.

1d6+6+1d6 Damage for 2nd attack

Also, since I haven't used Split Second, I have 20% miss chance vs any of its attacks.

1st Attack Miss

2nd Attack Hit
Did not confirm Crit

16 total damage taken

It now gets to strike back

Ogre Flail Snail Mashup Thing takes a swing at Drisquar

4 Attacks with its Club like Fists
(Full Attack)

Attack 1: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23
Damage 1: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (7, 1) + 5 = 13
Miss %: 1d100 ⇒ 33 1 to 20 missses

Attack 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Damage 2: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (7, 3) + 5 = 15
Miss %: 1d100 ⇒ 53

Attack 3: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage 3: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (1, 5) + 5 = 11
Miss %: 1d100 ⇒ 27

Attack 4: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Damage 4: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (6, 1) + 5 = 12
Miss %: 1d100 ⇒ 33

Looks like 3 hits total for a paltry 39 pts of damage

Round 2
Initiative
Monster Initiative: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7

Sanriel is within range and she could reach out to him. He is almost out of range though so a single message in essence

Sorry about that. In Game post in one moment.

It is about 2 cavern spaces over, about 190 to 200 ft away

Drisquar is over there right now and Sanriel is on the way.

Could do a Telepathic Relay if you desired to (if able to or not)

Sorry a bit confuzzled here

Spatial coordinates to the creature heading that way
To the Drow City behind the merchants
The caravan of Drow behind the merchants
The city in front, the merchants are heading to
Which

Bullet Time Yo!

Drisquar's first attack seems to hit
Damage Done = 6

Then initiative for straight up slugfesting

Monster Initiative: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8

Round 1 Begin

Sanriel is about 2 Rounds of movement away

To Illia

Ohh Yes that would be just perfect. We shall have it saved. Your mark on a scrap of parchment please to keep with it to make sure we hold it safe

Sorry

Thought I had answered it
Looking

Just in case doing some design work for the Drow City.
Basic layout in progress, Throne Room Defenses thought of, 8 max HP Male Driders as an Honor Guard with some special magic items, Matriarch Concept Done Noble (Drow) 5, High Priestess of Llolth Cleric 15, Mother of most of the city. 6 some new magic items, 2 spells, 5 new organizations within the city, 2 creature ideas (just rough concepts), 3 ideas for significant NPCs. Along with ideas for 3 differing NPC Party Groups that may get used in part or total in following missions or separate games.

How is everyone else

I am sure Drisquar can handle my little critter on his own
None of the encounters so far have been that dangerous to the PCs yet

Sanriel
Yes to the first and also to the second

It is about 190 away from the party, a small cavern then into a larger one

Drisquar wrote:

Description of what he sees over there:

It is the size of a large ogre or a small hill giant
A rough humanoid like shape, thick with muscles with a strange large snail like shell on the back. Like a cross between a turtle and a snail shell, obviously providing a large amount of defense for the thing. It has a thick looking skin as well.
Two large spatula like feet leaving a slime trail, again like a snail, carries it along. Two massive arms end in club like fists, more like massive greatclubs than fists in fact.

It is sniffing the air more and more the close you approach

In the roof of the cavern, Jhaelwyn patiently waited. She was slowly moving in the direction Sanriel and Drisquar had disappeared and humming softly to herself. She didn't mind waiting, but it could get awfully boring. Hopefully the curious creature would come soon. In the meanwhile, she pondered on the mystery of the peddlers and their children. Hmhmhm. Some modifications could make it a reality - but why ? Whywhy why...

@GM - I sent my familiar in the opposite direction of Sanriel's scouting with orders to check out that other noise. I assume that whatever it is it is still quite distant (or was it just the rat swarms :)?)

That noise was the Rat Swarms coming along was all

happy birthday Remnant.

Also, a question. As I've had the book burning a hole in my pocket since I got hold of it earlier this year would you permit me to grab some spells from the Kobold press Deep Magic book?
there are some really cool earth spells in there and I'd love to use them. One of them generating an ant lion trap in earth/stone with you at the center. Also another one which generates big ol'e pillars of earth to squish people into the ceiling with.

The book also has a spell for witches/wizards which summons a swarm of burning screaming monkeys. *looks at Jhaelwyn*
Not that anyone would have an interest in screaming burning monkeys around here though.

I think I need this book now that you mention it

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I got the Advanced Bestiary from Green Ronin today for myself as a birthday gift. So going to abuse that book.

About a minute after all the rats show up, they move as a single group out along away from the direction the peddlers had been moving in.

Our children are letting us know there is something that is frightening them. I think we shall follow along with them, detouring around what has frightened them. Care to join us ladies and sir?
