Hello, everyone, and welcome to the discussion thread for our upcoming adventure. Once everyone has checked in and finalized their characters, we'll get rolling.
About Your Party
Ok, you've got a weird-looking party. But that's kind of awesome. It will create some challenges as you don't have a traditional face or frontline martial character, but hopefully we can also create some memorable moments through your "oddity."
Kinota has already expressed that she's willing to make the switch to Sorcerer, which is helpful for filling the "Face" role, but if anyone else wants to switch things up to differentiate themselves from a fellow party member, let us know as soon as possible.
Finalizing Your Character
When you think your character is ready for review, please let me know by posting in the thread or, if you use Hero Lab, please send me your .por file via a Dropbox (or some other file-sharing service) through a PM.
1. Level 3 Character, 20-point buy.
2. 3,000 Starting Gold. Characters should spend no more than half their total wealth on any single item.
3. Core Races only. Alternate racial traits and archetypes from the Advanced Race Guide are allowed.
4. All Paizo-created classes and archetypes are allowed (Core, APG, UM, UC).
5. Two traits - both can't be of the same type.
How We'll Play
Having never run a PBP before, I've tried to look at best practices from others. Based on that "research," here's how'd I'd like to run this game:
1. Combat: Let's go ahead and start with "true" initiative. If we find it slows things down too much, we can switch to a group initiative or some variation thereof. Also, I'll be hosting the battle maps via a public link on Dropbox unless a majority of you have issues accessing Dropbox.com from your primary computer.
2. Roles with Rolls: If you want to take an action as a character, go ahead and roll the dice with your proposed action. I may not always need the dice roll, but it will help speed things up if I don't ask for it.
3. Loot: In my tabletop games, a player typically volunteers to track the loot for the game. Can we have someone volunteer for that role for this game?
I've noticed that some players have their stats below their character's name - can someone share how to do that? I'd like to have the following:
Class || HP X/X || AC XX, T XX, FF XX, CMD XX || F +X, R +X, W +X || Per. +X, Init +X
If there's anything I've left out that you've seen work well in other games, please let me know.
Thanks, everyone. I can't wait to get started!
