The mans face grows dark, his eyebrows crawling across his forehead as he furrows his brow, a cold, dark anger filling his already stern visage. His lips purse together to an arrow tiped pont; the hair of his moustache flaring out at his sudden exhale of breath.
The man begins to raise his hand, before suddenly stopping the action, and instead clenches his fist as he lowers it to his side. The man takes a deep breath, holds it for a moment, and then exhales, visably relaxing.
Fair enough. Marik, if you decide you want an expert on your adventure, you know where to find me. In that corner. As for you, Aes Sedai, fair warning. There is a fate worse than death when you go into the blight. If the tainted plants dont get you, pray that the Trolloc do. They will just kill you. If a Fade gets you, well... your young, limber, and... Gjurn looks Tenora up and down with a very knowing look vigorous. Youll likely keep a Fade entertained for a couple weeks. But, cant i say i didnt offer to help an Aes Sedai.
M Human 1st level wilder
The man holds up his hands in a placating gesture. Peace friend! Peace. We all are friends here. I was just offering my services as a guide. All I am saying is that i know a way in that will get us past the guards and the Trollocs...Sure you can take the straight approach to Malkier, but you need a pass to get past the sentries. You know them Sentries are there to protect us from the trollocs, and to protect us from ourselves. 20% of something is still something, whether there are 10 or 2. Im not a greedy man, i know my value and my worth. Nodding his head to Tenora, and then rest he turns and walks back to his table, picking up his tankard of ale and drinking from it.
M Human 1st level wilder
A man, heavy on the waist, yet his hair and beard indicate prior military seasoning.
He stumps up to the bar and raises his fingers, ordering a double hit of liquor. He looks at everyone before resting his eyes on Marik. Bladesman staff, Marlane. Thanks. So, youre looking to go into the Blight to get some swords, armour, and whatever treasure and trinkets you can find in the Seven Towers? Tell you what. Im feeling adventerous. I'll lead you, and your group in, for 20% of the total. Ive made the trek into the Blight a few times now, killed my fair share of Trollocs. Even stared down a Fade. I know a way in. More importantly, i know a way out. You cant just walk into Malkier, boy. The usual ways in are filled with roving patrols of Shienarians, and trollocs. Trollocs will kill and eat you. The Shienarians will brand you a darkfriend, then hang you...maybe might eat you too if times are bad.
hmmmmmmmmm....been a long time since ive visited krynn.
i see a lot of various races, but nothing Human. And i remember that all the races seem to have a xenophobic attitude towards each other, except for Kender.

By the Light of the Creator! That is for sure a fell beast, one of the Dark Ones creations! We must Destroy this creature lest it Blight this area Gjurn says, slapping fist to heart.
We must spread apart, encircle it. Force it to give us its back! Gjurn says loudly so everyone can hear.
Full round action: embrace Sadain

we in shadowrun now? lol

so, do i manage to embrace the source, or do we encounter the "bear" as we climb up to the cave entrance?
M Human 1st level wilder
suiting words to action, Gjurn begins to gather wood and starts a fire. once the fire is large enough, Gjurn will begin to set larger timbers upon the flames to catch fire. Once firmly set on fire, he will then proceed to drag the flaming brands to cave opening and throw them inside.
be ready! Gjurn says to everyone.
gjurn takes a moment and siezes control of saidan.
M Human 1st level wilder
Gjurn readies his pike, his hands wrapping around the smooth shaft.
SPitting on the ground, he replies sagely Perhaps. I hear that the best way to flush out a bear, if one is inclined to do so, is to throw burning logs into the cave. The cave will fill with smoke, driving the beast out.
force of habit. i run 2 wot campaigns and habitually reply as my alter ego
M Human 1st level wilder
i was certain that we wouldve been attacked
Gjurn stands up and builds up the fire.
How bout some breakfast first? he asks Ryer.
gjurn sets to making breakfast for everyone. a simple fair, consisting of a little bit of everything from everyone.
after everyone has had some food and filled up with water, GJurn packs up his belongings and makes for the trail, carrying his pike lengthwise.
M Human 1st level wilder
I guess i get to sleep the entire night. Gjurn chuckles out loud.
Should you need assistance on any shift, wake me up first.
After laying out his bedroll, Gjurn gathers some twigs and starts a small fire. He then goes about gathering larger items that are dry.
Should anything happen, i think being able to see the threat should be the priority. So, shout a lot but be sure to throw this on the flames.
Gentlemen, may the Creator watch over your dreams, and the Light always be within your heart, for with the Creator, you are always in the light. Gjurn says to everyone before laying atop his bedroll.

indeed. someplace defensible. Would hate to have something that took this bear out come upon our camp.

99% of the time i wont post on the weekend, as i am busy with other things. I do my postings while im on my breaks at work.
Leaning on his pike, Gjurn surveys the scene. Blood and Ashes! Bigger than a bear? bah, The only thing bigger than a bear is those shadow-cursed Trollocs. But those things are kept in the Blight by the Borderlands. There hasnt been one of those down here since the Trolloc Wars. No, I think it must be another bear in the area. Bears will drive a pack of wolves, especially if it kills enough of them.
Looking skyward, he grunts Hmmf, its getting to be night time. I say lets setup camp for the night and continue in the morning.
M Human 1st level wilder
Gjurn eyes harden at the drunk farmerThe Creator shall protect those that walk in the Light. I shall be fine. I have no need to fear of things in the darkness. Looking about the rest of the room for a moment, meeting the eye of everyone there, he focuses back upon the farmer.
Besides, I doubt that you wish to loose any more livestock. I hear that a pack of a dozen wolves can tear through a pack of sheep within an hour. Would hate to come to your farm tomorrow and see you penniless.
M Human 1st level wilder
Scratching at his chin while inhaling a deep pull of tabac, he grins at Lonen.
Yeah, there was a lot of "interesting" characters in Illian to swear the Oath to Hunt the Horn. Everyone having an idea as to where to look. Tar Valon, Tear, Illian itself. Heck, i even met a group of people who were going to infiltrate Shara of all places.
Taking another pull, holding it in for a long moment, and then blowing it out into the air, Gjurn continues.
But for myself, I will take what you say as a compliment.
Nodding to Lonen, Gjurn turns and speaks loudly to the farmer.
Good sir. Would you be able to take my companions and I to your farm? I would like to inspect your farm, and perhaps hope to pick up the trail of these frightful animals. The sooner we get to work, the more livestock we may save. Wont you agree?
M Human 1st level wilder
DM, any chance you could open a discussion posting page for us?
M Human 1st level wilder
Drawing a deep pull from his roll of tabac, Gjurn blows it out, grunting.
Well, ive always wanted a cloak made out of wolf's fur. He says to no one in particular.
Approaching the two men talking, he holds out his hand. Well met. Names Gjurn. Gjurn Swurn. I'd like to accompany the both of you on this. This feller's tale has piqued my curiosity, and I would like to see where this path takes me. Perhaps it will lead me to the Horn, perhaps not. Either way, I may be of use to those who walk in the Light of the Creator.

I think i am going to bow out of this adventure. I just took over another campaign as DM, and am looking to start my third campaign set within the wheel of time setting. With these three, i cannot spare any more time towards gjurn.

Gjurn goes out onto land, and will spend the night getting so drunk that he ends up sleeping in a pig trough, holding a piglet in his arms like a baby holding a doll.
M Human 1st level wilder
Disrobing in his room, Gjurn pulls out a small mirror and looks at the slashes checkering his back.
Hmmphf, must be getting soft He grunts, shrugging his shoulders and getting used to the pain. I will need to swing by the cook and get some salt, so that lil piss-ant can rub it in. gjurn mutters to himself, as he pulls on a fresh pair of trousers.
Tying off the pants, he spots Grasskator standing at the door, observing him.
Wiping his hand over his mouth, and swallowing the retort he wanted to say, Gjurn instead asks simply Captain, If i may ask a question?
If grasskator stays
Captain, i was wondering, why the extra lash for calling quartermaster de arcadia sir? Its a perfectly respectful means of showing respect to the position and respected across all ships, Captain?
If he leaves, then gjurn closes the door, turns to his desk and begins to write on the few sheets of paper that he has. Hmm, going to have to go ashore and get more paper, since i have to write up a dissertation explaining how to use my magical greatness ands its use on this ship. bah, typical pirate. Bah
M Human 1st level wilder
A pursing his lips tightly the only sign to feeling pain, Gjurn ties off his robes around his waist, Gjurn bows deeply to Arcadia. Of course, Quatermaster Delmar de Arcadia. 2 hours from now, Quatermaster Delmar de Arcadia
M Human 1st level wilder
Shrugging in his chains, Gjurn sweeps his robes back and bows before Grasskator. As you command, so i shall follow, Captain
Turning to de Arcadia, Gjurn says simply Good sir, Shall we?
Without waiting for an answer, Gjurn steps to the spot for the flogging and unbuttons his robes, letting them fall as they can, revealing a back already showing some ancient scars of the lash. Holding his hands up, he says to no one in particular Well, let's be about it. I still have my usual duties and my extra duties to accomplish today, and for a month more.
mumbling to himself, he mutters yup, i was right. It IS one of those days

thank you. That was the first thing i thought of when i made the mage. Hold portal, cannon. sure they could blow off their own portal, but hey, its damage to the ship!!!

Walking up on deck, his hands still in manacles, Gjurn looks as if he is dressed for a Ball. His robes looking freshly laundered, hair combed and clean, mustache perfectly square, Gjurn even manages to look like he is wearing the manacles as an accessory.
Standing tall, Gjurn looks up at Grasskator and sees the Cat o'nine tails. Quirking an eyebrow, he mutters to himself So it will be one of THOSE days. Staring back up at Grasskator, Gjurn manages to make it look like there is no height difference.
As you say, Grasskator, i shall explain. But please, allow me to address each point individually
Gjurn says loudly, his voice carrying across the deck.
first, you say that I failed to find an apprentice. Well, if memory serves me correctly, you said "suggest you find". A suggestion is just that, a suggestion, leaving it up to the person to have the final decision. If you would have commanded, as in "go find an apprentice" or "you will have an apprentice", i would have found an apprentice. But I do seem to recall asking someone to be an apprentice, but he turned me down He says with a knowing look at Grasskator.
i remember talk about using a different language to represent the different languages, but nothing was assigned, so im using english
Speaking in fluent Orc, Gjurn continues Second, as for failing to report. I must apologize for that, because i failed to understand what you had spoken. Sometimes you speak rather fast for me to understand you. I am fluent in Orc, so if you would rather speak in that language to get your commands across, than i am all for it.
Switching back to commonthirdly, As for disrespect, far from it. I have nothing but the utmost respect for you. It takes a lot to become a captain, especially one with your background. I have never once said an insulting thing to you, in any language you may or may not understand
and finally, the fourth. Dereliction of duty in my mage duties. I am sorry, but i take those duties diligently. Every day i lock myself in my cabin for a few hours to memorize different spells, and trying to figure out what the day would bring. Nor without any guidance from "leadership". Today, for example, I am prepared for us to go up against a ship if we try to board it. I have memorized the true stike, magic missile, and hold portal spells. The true strike would be used should i come across a cannon that needed that perfect shot, the magic missle to target the officers on the ship, and the hold portal to target the ports on the enemy ship to keep them from opening up for a broadside. ALL WITHIN THE HULL. He finishes with emphasis.
Gjurn stops talking and looks visibly relaxed.

Slapping Mathurin on his back, GJurn praises him. Job well done lad. Very very good. You are truly a remarkable sailor. Well done indeed.
Letting go of the wheel, Gjurn goes about the crew, congratulating them on their speed and efficiency.
Walking about, Gjurn comes across Graskkator. Ah, Graskkator, well done. You've done a fine job in encouraging the crew to greatness. Very impressive. Well done lad. well done Turning he steps away, giving a slap on the back to another sailor.
Pausing, Gjurn strokes his moustache, gazing towards the wake of the ship. Muttering to himself, he wanders over to the rail, and leans against it, thinking.
M Human 1st level wilder
Gjurn nods yes yes, thrown over board. I understand.
Looking at Mathurin, Gjurn asks Did you understand what he said?
M Human 1st level wilder
Gjurn snorts at Graskkator. I already have done all that, on day ONE. Perhaps if you had taken me up on my offer, you'd have realized that, instead of waiting for a ship to come upon us to ask me that question. Be that as it may, I am prepared, I have scrolls upon me, and a couple potions, along with spells in my head, I am prepared to help ensure the survival of this ship. Now, since my duties are completed, until the unknown ship is close enough for me to actually affect it, I will continue to assist Mathurin in piloting this ship, since here is where I can lend my skills.
M Human 1st level wilder
Hearing the cry from the look out, Gjurn jumps to his feet and looks aft. Spotting the white smudge upon the horizon, he approaches graskkator from behind.
Appears that BLACKBEARD has taken offense to your comments, GraskKator.
Walking up to Mathurin, Gjurn bows slightly to the half elf. If i could perhaps help with this he states, putting both hands upon the wheel.
not sure if i can aid another with this type of check, but i still went ahead and rolled.
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33

of course, i roll super well...perhaps i should've taken over at the wheel for this, lol

dinner day 5
Gjurn, as his usual style, sweeps in with a flourish, motioning everyone at the table to stay seated. please, don't get up. apologies for being late. William was having a most enjoyable time chasing a ball of paper, and i couldn't bear to stop him. Very humorous, he is. he finishes scratching william's chin and feeling the pseudodragon purr.
upon hearing Mathurin's question, Gjurn replies simply The ocean is my lover. I like to be upon her whenever I can. This isn't the first voyage ive been on that has "faced certain doom".
day 6
Stepping up on deck in the morning, Gjurn sees rodrigo chatting with graskkator. Nodding to them as he passes, Gjurn goes up on the poop deck with william taging along. Pulling out a small ball, Gjurn begins to bounce it off the deck, encouraging William to catch the ball.
So far, his efforts to get William to play this game are for naught. William flies about the rigging, zipping between lines, flying up high and diving, just to pull up at the last minute before certainly smashing into the deck. William flies about, and upon passing something that catches his attention, he flies circles around the spot, watching, and calling out with a shrill roar.
M Human 1st level wilder
What kind of heat we talking about? 95 degrees with 98% humidity? or 133 degrees with 5% humidity?
Turning at the mention of his own name, Gjurn looks at everyone before speaking.
First, i would set up a sail to cover as much of the deck as possible. Slant it a little bit to channel some of this wind through it. Second, aplit the crew into 4 groups. Have each group work 15 minutes, and rest 45 minutes. Order the crew to drink water, 1-2 cups every hour.
Looking up, Gjurn points at the crows nest. That spot will be your worst. Even though the lookout isnt doing anything, they are still being baked like a fish on the road. The nest should have the same rule as down here. 15 on, 45 off. Set up a small sail to keep the sun off.
Walking up on the group, Gjurns voice takes on a stern commanding quality, as he gets into the flow of instructing.
I've seen days like this before. You need to keep a look out for the signs of men who don't drink enough. They will start to get cramps, complain about headaches, and soon enough some will show signs of fatigue and confusion. Those with cramps and headaches, all they need is more water. Those with fatigue and confusion should immediately go into the water; submerge the whole body. The water on the skin will help cool them off rapidly.
Turing around so fast his robes flair out, he points at his finger Rodrigo, you should be on deck today to help out. As you know, speed is of the essence when it comes to this extreme heat. Graskkator, It would be benificial to let the crew know that in this case, Rodrigo has carte blanch power, and can order any crewmember he suspects of not being well to be pulled and have someone replace them. Mathurin, we should change our course a little bit so that the wind flows over deck as much as possible. Elwood, get below decks and make sure all the portals are open. We want as much wind moving about below as we can. Graskkator, as you wander about, you should be seen with a cup of water in your hands at all times. If the captain drinks, the men will drink. Delmar, help out Rodrigo in any way you can, but if a crew member has to go into the water, you go in to help the crewmember get cooled down.
Looking up at the sun, Gjurn finishes as long was we have wind and water to cool us, we shouldnt have any heat injuries
M Human 1st level wilder
Aye, Graskkator, i do have the extensive knowledge. YOU Gjurn emphasizes with a finger point would do well to sit with me and learn something. Shrugging his shoulders, he turns to Mathurin and bows slightly Lead on, friend Mathurin.
Stepping into Mathurin's cabin, Gjurn glances about. Very nice, everything in its proper place. Pity Graskkator hasn't conducted an inspection yet. But, to each their own.
Sitting down in the chair, Gjurn listens to what Mathurin has to say, and begins by looking at the charts.
Taking 10 for knowledge geography. skill check= 17
Ah, ok. So we are here, and we are heading there. Hmmm... Gjurn mutters to himself, slowly mumbling to himself.
M Human 1st level wilder
Gjurn snorts at Mathurin. IF it requires my attention, i will pay attention, but ive been through too much to run about with my skirt up every time there are storm clouds on the horizon, or some strange shape in the air.snorting again through his moustache, Gjurn looks out at the slow ball of orange rising from the east.
everyday she rises, i am glad to see her. Means another day on her mighty breasts, right Mathurin?
M Human 1st level wilder
apologies for the lack of posting. Was enjoying my memorial day weekend up north with family and fellow veterans.
Lets say that Gjurn locked himself in his cabin on the first night, and spent the last few days meditating and transcribing spells into his spellbook.a simple Hold Portal spell kept his door closed from unwanted guests.
Stretching and yawning, Gjurn appears on deck before the sunrise, and wanders about, checking things over with an experienced eye. Hmm very nice. Appears to be no damage. Kind of amazed the young pup has kept us afloat this whole time.
He meanders his way up to the wheel of the ship, seeing Mathurin guiding the ship. Stopping, Gjurn asks Hmmm...don't you ever sleep?
M Human 1st level wilder
hey everyone, i just want to put it out there so there is no misunderstandings.
Im not trying to antagonize graskkator in a mean spirited manner.
Im playing GJurn as an that old guy who has already peaked in his career and should be out the door, but doesnt realize that he should be sitting this out and leaving the responsibilities of being a captain to a younger guy.
I hope that makes sense :)
M Human 1st level wilder
ok. i was just looking for a point of reference from where the ship was leaving and what not.

morning
A rude banging interrupts Gjurn's studies and research. Waving his hand and muttering under his breath, he seals the door against undue intrusions. probably an admirer looking to talk. he mutters to himself. In a louder voice, he commands
Go away. Visiting hours are when I am on deck, or when i invite you in.
With that, he turns back to his studies, successfully ignoring the rude banging.
at evening
Gjurn swoops in, taking seat at one end of the table. He pauses a moment, looking at everyone and making eye contact, giving each person a simple nod of greeting. A slight clacking from William draws everyones attention to the Pseudodragon. Cutting of a chunk of meat, Gjurn sets its on a plate and allows William to climb down to eat.
Spooning the meal onto his plate, Gjurn eats in silence as everyone chatters about random things, taking mental notes of what everyone says, learning their character.
Upopn hearing Graskkator talking about apprentices, Gjurn studies him for a long moment.
very well, i accept your apprenticeship, Graskkator. It the mark of a true man, no matter what breed, to step up and constantly seek out greater understanding and knowledge about their chosen profession from amongst their peers. Well done sir. I applaud you. I shall meet you tomorrow at noon for lunch and we shall begin to learn from each other, for no matter how much of an expert the master is, he can still learn something from his student. With that he holds up a cup of water, nods to Graskkator, and drinks from the cup.
