I have an idea for a rouge-ish pc that is a bit of a go between for the elite, working class, and the dregs. He can fit in anywhere, but he's simply not to be crossed. Going with the not evil aspect, he's simply more of a neutral character, leaning towards ng. He came up from the shadow of the Underbridge where he learned his "talents" and was smart enough to move out as soon as he could. However, some of his profit always finds it's way to the Underbridge or Rags End when he can. He doesn't easily forget where he came from. It will most likely be a two-weapon fight build, nothing flashy, all CRB and maybe a dash of APG. I don't get too complicated with my pc's. How's that sound DM?

I'm at work thinking about this so this is all I've had time to type. I'll probably refine/crunch by tomorrow night, but I'll still check in to see what's happening.

Hello all! I'm the friend. I haven't come up with my PC as of yet, hopefully I'll get to that in the next day or so. With current submissions I might have to rethink my original idea, but I wasn't set on any one thing. I'll get on it in the morning hopefully. So for now, goodnight!

Ok, this website thing is killing me. Every time I actually have time to come in and look at the campaign setting the website is down and when I find it up again, I have no time. This is not one of those times. I just want to keep checking in when I can to let you know I'm still here! Hopefully the site will be up again later this afternoon when I'll be able to sit down and really take in the setting. As for post rate, I'm usually good for 1+ on weekdays and weekends are always spotty. Sometimes I'll be at the computer all day and other weekends I'm a ghost. So I'll be back later, hopefully! And good luck to everyone whose characters and posts are being eaten by the goblins!

Don't know, never saw it. I'll get on that character. Like I said, it's been a while and I've always like simplicity with a bit of flair that comes along the way. I like the story of a common person who becomes extraordinary. So character might come across as basic at fist, but I always let the story write itself so there will be big plans along the way. I don't know that I've played a rogue, but fighters are always fun and I like traits. I'll have to think about this...

I'm definitely interested. Anything in particular you are looking for as far as character, crunch, etc? It's been a while for me since I've gamed so a series of lead in modules sounds like it would be perfect to step back in to.

Yes, traits are optional. I'll be working through your characters right now and I'll pm you if there's something that needs fixing or to let you know that everything is fine. I should hopefully know what's going on by the end of the night and I'll open up the gameplay and discussion forums. I'm not planning on starting until tomorrow afternoon, but it will be one less thing I have to do tomorrow. Once that happens feel free to rp and introduce your characters to each other, just assume you're on the way to the cave and I'll tell you when you get there. That being said, I'll be on for the next couple of hours so if you have any questions now's the time to ask!

And I'm in EST, since we're exchanging time zones. Just a reminder, I'm really expecting people to post at least twice daily on weekdays, and when you can, try for at least once a day on weekends. I don't want to be one of those pbp's that just fall flat as soon as they start. I'll commit to doing the same. If that's a problem, or if there's going to be something coming up that's going to keep you away from your computer or something, just let me know. It's not the end of the world, but at least we'll know that you're not just dropping out.

Knew I'd make a few mistakes, sorry!

BloodWolven - Baris/Halfling Monk (or your fighter or sorcerer)
Langsford - Indrick Penlan/ Human Bard
Zack Muad'Dweeb - Bladecatcher/Half-Orc Barbarian
Rockman 1138 - Wilhelmina Starker/Human Cleric
Kuawen - Tochi Exos/Human fighter
Nick Pater - 13/Half-Elf Cleric

Tochi, good to see you! Sorry to hear about the system, As long as you have it up by tonight so I can review it and make any suggestions for change before we get started tomorrow.

Yeah, it's definitely not 15 pt, but it's not as high as I said last time.
14 (5)
13 (3)
12 (2)

13 (3)

And that's removing your +2 for being a half-elf, which I can only assume you put in Wisdom. Again, I could be wrong and don't hesitate to explain it to me if I am!

I saw your background and the basics that the profile let you see but that's it. If you could put up some sort of character sheet based on the things I wrote up there that would be very helpful for me!

Using the spoilers to keep the posts from being so long, also, I know it's tempting, but if it's not your name, don't look! Especially in game, that means the stuff I'm writing is only for that person/those people.

Just to get a quick headcount, I'm going to list everyone I'm seeing here and your character (if you created one)

BloodWolven - Baris/Human Monk (or your fighter or sorcerer)
Langsford - Indrick Penlan/ Human Bard
Zack Muad'Dweeb - Bladecatcher/Half-Orc Barbarian
Rockman 1138 - Wilhelmina Starker/Human Cleric
Kuawen - Tochi Exos/Human fighter
Nick Pater - 13/Human Cleric

So far this is what I'm seeing. It's looking like a good mix!

However, I've never actually heard from Kuawen other than Rockman 1138 mentioning them. I'd like to see a post from you saying you're interested.

I haven't had a chance to go through everyone's profile, today was a bit crazy and tomorrow won't be much better. If you don't already have your character as an alias or you haven't finalized your character please do so by tomorrow night. The beastiary or HeroLabs stat block format would be best, or you could link to a character sheet. Make sure to check it against the guidelines I put up. If there's something you're not sure about, just put it up and don't sweat it. It's easier for me to say I don't want it if it's on there than to so whether or not I'd be ok with that.

Also, not that I'm wanting anyone to drop, but if you're not interested in moving forward let me know asap! I know I've been a part of other recruitment threads where people drop before it's started, and that's fine. If posting 1-2 times a day on weekdays and trying for at least once a day on weekends (that's definitely flexible) is going to be a problem for you, then no harm, no foul. I'd just rather know now before we start a game and then it's dead in the water before we can actually accomplish anything.

All that being said, I'm out for the night, have a good one!

@Nick, I wasn't paying close enough attention before, but your stats are a little high, you're working off about 21 points if I added right and assumed your racial modifier was in there. If you're not sure about the point buy system, check here and look under heading 2)Determine Ability Scores.

Sorry, I just checked back on this, I'm on my phone so I won't be able to roll until later tonight, but I just wanted to throw out that I might try to play my Human Paladin Ardamir, follower of Heronius! I'll have a sheet up with my rolls later tonight.

@Nick - That looks good, though I would suggest putting it into an online character sheet. If you've got $30 to dole out, I would highly recommend getting HeroLabs, it's amazing! If not, is a free site where you can create them and you can keep them all there. I used that until I got HeroLabs, both good options.

@Wilhelmina - We'll actually be starting at the entrance of the cave, but the encounter isn't so harsh that you'll need a lot of supplies. That being said, we'll definitely go to town between this dungeon and the next encounter, so if you feel like you missed something you can get it on the way back. What you'll really need is just your weapons and any supplies that your character would need to go into a simple dungeon, I hope that helps.

Looks good to me Indrick. Like I said, don't put too much energy into the fluff (unless you really want to), it's not very necessary for what we're about to do.

Not a problem Nick! Look forward to seeing it.

Good question Langford! Here's the rundown on Character Creation:

15pt Buy
Race/Class - Core
Average Wealth
Equipement - Core for now, maybe expand into APG and UE later
2 Traits - for those you can pull from APG if you so desire.
Feats - same as equipment

I don't have much really beyond that. Like I said, this is pretty basic so you don't have to go all out optimizing your pc. At the same time, I'm looking to learn and expand my knowledge of the Pathfinder world, so after this first encounter and maybe a second one that I tack on I may want to expand it, allow you to retool your character based on our current levels and then move out from there into new territory. Some of this caution may be a little unnecessary on my part, I'm sure, but once I get the hang of this I'd really like to do more.

@Nick, I hope this helps, if you need anything else let me know!

You can if you want, but it's definitely not necessary. The way it starts out is very simplistic and it gives the reason for you being there. I'll post the intro up in the Campaign Info section later for anyone who wants to check it out.

Sounds good. I haven't really messed with much of the bard stuff myself, or really played alongside one. I'd like to see how they play out.

That sounds good. I would definitely like to migrate out eventually. I kind of figure I'll learn something new as soon as I'm presented with it. i.e. Someone wants to play something I don't understand, then I look it up and figure it out. For at least the first short encounter or two I just want to work on my actual GMing skills, maybe after that start letting the characters branch out.

HeroLab is amazing... I can't stop. So yes, just like crack!

You are most welcome Zack! I didn't really put much of a time limit on this, so I'll go ahead and say that "submissions" will be taken until Sunday night and I'll choose and have the campaign ready by Monday evening, that is if anyone else casts in their lot. For the campaigns I'm looking at three would probably be plenty, but four is ideal more than 5-6 is too many, but like I said in the description this is more for me about honing GM skills so I don't mind bumping up the difficulty of any encounters.

That being said, those who are interested go ahead and submit your characters and we'll go from there.

Having people with GM experience is definitely not necessary. I only said that because I was hoping some experienced players could come in and help out. So, yes, you would be more than sufficient! I'll see if anyone else bites and then we can go from there.

I'm definitely interested. I like the idea of having some quick sessions as well as long campaigns. Let me know what you want to do and I can whip up a character no problem.

Well, it seems that you might be the only one. I think I might have picked something too simple, most people on here are looking for a bit more of a challenge, since pbp gives you much more time to think and craft your character/responses. I might have to try again with a more advanced module, but still one that's low level that I can manage to GM myself. I'll see if anyone else pops in, but if not I'm thinking of running something like Crown of the Kobold King or something low-level like that. I just don't want to get in over my head.

So, let me explain. I am a bit new to all this, but I am involved in a few PbP's and have had a bit of experience playing a home game. That being said, instead of trying to join every PbP that get's posted, I figure maybe I aught to try and GM for myself. I'm not very up on advanced rules, races, etc, etc, even though I have access to a lot of stuff through books, prd, pdf's and all that. I am most comfortable with the core rule book.

What I would like to do is this - recruit 4-6 players to run through the Beginners Box encounter and the extras that they have released. I'm choosing this because they are very simple and will help me to learn what it is that I'm doing without serious complications, crazy rules, etc. Ideally, I would like to have some kind of experienced players, particularly people who have GM'd before, to participate and kind of help me along with my GMing skills. But, I have a soft spot for new people to the game, so I foresee a mix of both.

As far as races/class limitations, I am not going to stick with the Beginner Box character creation rules. I've got a little more experience than that and they are just too limiting even for me. That being said, I would like to stick to core races and classes. I have a pdf copy of the APG and a lot of the other source-books, but if you can keep to the core stuff and maybe in the future I'll work my way out of there. We will be working off a 15 point buy like the beginner box characters, however, because these encounters aren't exactly difficult.

For posting, I am very available during the day M-F, and spotty on the weekends, so I would like to see 1-2 posts on weekdays and a post or two over weekends if you can. I will have maps available in Google Docs (home-made, so be kind!) so we can have some visuals.

Depending on how many people we can get on this and what the characters look like I can beef up the encounters, I do know at least that much of how to do things. So please post if you're interested, and don't be scared because I'm new! I really like this game and am willing to learn and if this goes well I would definitely be interested in expanding into bigger and better things, maybe even a full on campaign.

I jumped into an Age of Worms pbp, which shortly after the GM jumped ship and so did everyone else! So I'd like to see this campaign from the beginning and see how it plays out.

I present to you Frulamin Milhner, a Gnome Druid. Basic backstory is that he grew up with both parents, among druids and has learned to love the natural world and a good prank from the time he was a child. He's prone to wander and finds his home with anything natural, beautiful, and mischievous! He wants more, however. More adventure, more experience, and even a little more danger. He's willing to go anywhere and do anything. His love for the natural world spurs him on to see more of it, to go to distant lands that he may have only heard of in stories. He serves no god but nature and himself, and he'll follow anyone that will help him to see the more that he's looking for.

Obviously I'd like to make a few changes based on what we are starting with, but this is what I've got for now.

I'll definitely keep an eye on this, I'd like to know the answers to the last two posters.

Average starting wealth? Just asking due to the high fantasy point buy.

I'm working out an Elf Druid, something simple that fits will into the middle-earth realm. It's not Legolas...

I would definitely be willing to put together a fighter, probably a half-Orc if that fits with your group. If not I'm willing to try something else. I'll work and something g and send it your way later today.

I'd definitely be interested. Actually just finished reading the books, as well as the Silmarillion, so I think this would be a lot of fun.

Well, if it makes any difference, I know that I'm going to be playing first steps in a couple of weeks with my dwarf. I don't know if that means anything in the world of pfs, but if it doesn't matter I'd be happy to run him.

Thanks guys! Definitely looks like a game that's my speed. This is what I like about the gamer community, always so helpful!

Hey, I just got directed to this thread. I'd really like to get into a pbp and I'm also getting into a local pfs game, so this would be perfect. I'm like a couple of people in here, pretty new. I've already got a society character, he's a really basic dwarf fighter, but I could come up with something else if I needed to. I'm trying to create some basic characters before I start getting into the advanced players guide and all that. So I would definitely be in if you'll have me :)

If someone was going to respond, no worries. I started a thread of my own, so enjoy your game!

I've seen similar posts along the way, so here's my shot. I'm pretty new to Pathfinder; I was introduced to table-top rpg through a short lived home game, also joined what turned into a failed online pbp, and am going to my first Society play in a couple of weeks, so I still consider myself pretty green. I'd like to get into a classic, 1st level Pathfinder campaign setting online as a kind of learning experience and see where it goes. I've got a lot of the source materials (I was a little overzealous when I first started playing so I bought and borrowed a lot of stuff to read) so for the most part creating basic characters, leveling them up, etc, I don't need a lot of help with. I just want to do some gaming. I've got plenty of time to participate in an online forum, so I think this would be pretty awesome. I just need someone to GM and some people to hop on board. I don't care which campaign setting it is, I just want to dive in. Any takers?

I was trying to total up how many people have actually responded to this... I was actually thinking of starting a similar thread myself. I'm relatively new to Pathfinder; I was in a short-lived home game as an intro, a failed pbp, and am about to go to my first society game, so I still feel pretty new and green. If there is room I would love to join and fill in any gaps. If there is not room do not hesitate to tell me (my feelings won't be hurt) and I'll start a similar thread and see if I can get any bites that way. I'm nowhere near being able to GM, but playing once or twice a month with the society might not be enough. Please, let me know!

Hey everyone! My name is Chris and John has invited me in to the game you all are playing. I'm a little new to Pathfinders and role playing as a whole to please be kind! I'm involved in a regular weekly game so hopefully I'll transition well into the the play by post. I'm going to be playing a Human Paladin named Ardamir. If you've got any questions for me just let me know and I look forward to playing with all of you!
