Bexilarius

Spoiler:

"Cost? That depends on what you're looking for. You name it, we can do it, so long as you pay. It's quite simple really." She playfully, and gently, traces the length of her coiled whip with one finger as she speaks to you.

"I only came to you because I heard you were looking for Miss Lil'. I'm handling the bookings tonight, and I just happen to be free myself. If you really need a little horn to get off, I can see if there's another girl free."

I assumed you made it clear when you came to the temple that you were looking for Lil.

Bexilarius

Spoiler:

While you are sorting out your business with the young man identifying your equipment, a voice is heard from behind you, seemingly separate from any sound of movement or footsteps.

"Lavender Lil is with a client, currently. She's not one for a team effort, so you may have to wait."

Striding in front of you is a half-elf woman, her shocking red hair becoming a theme for today. She commands presence for sure, and the whip coiled at her side marks her as more than just a callgirl; she's a member of the clergy.

"Of course, I'm free right now, if you really can't hold it in any longer."

That's all there is to do, now, is disagree. We're not able to do much else here. This game was started before mine, and my players are now fighting the thugs for control of the chest.

My comments where I tried to give the DM a little hand, by giving him my notes and suggestions from my version of this game as a PBP? Where I said I'm anxious for the game to start? I am not looking for this game to fail, but we can only give so much, if the DM is not giving himself. We can't play among ourselves...that is, unless you would all like to.

I propose that we use the rules for gambling as I have done in my own game. Something we can adjudicate fairly using Invisible Castle doesn't need DM intervention. That way, we can play a few games, make some chips and coin, and the DM can take over when the plot kicks in. What do you say to that?

A week with not so much as a peep from the DM? And just plopped in front of 'the games' with no mechanics or assistance available to us? At such a crucial point? I think we can call this game a bust. Ah well. Fortunata will make an appearance in 'Darker Darkness', either way.

"I'm Elinea. Gambling is not really my main interest here, but I expected this to be the time and place to have a look at the citizens and visitors of Riddleport..... Are you from here, Fortune?"

"I'm ashamed to say I am. I've always wanted to get out, but I've never had the motivation. Or the will. Or the experience. Besides, I'm good at what I do here. It's comfortable. And a little profitable too."

Should there be a will saving throw to decide when our characters stop eating? Or drinking? Even if we've reasonably had enough?

Perhaps the message has been delivered, in the form of his silence?

DM, I understand how this can be an awkward thing to run. Trust me, I'm running it myself right now. If you'd like to see how I'm trying to handle it, take a look here. Many of the games need to be played in person, but some of that stuff can be compensated by skill checks! I'm eager to get this game going, and I would hate to see it die right here.

"I agree. Just look at these women! They leave nothing to the imagination. They give it all away for free. There's no talent, no skill there. The real trick is making them pay for it. One way or another."

Fortunata offers her hands to any who would accompany this lady.

"Let's go play some Ghoulette!"

Fortunata's Knowledge Domain power means that if she touches a living thing, she gets some info about it, as per a knowledge check. Feel free to adjudicate that however you want, DM.

Obviously knowing how to move about silently, Fortunata didn't hear the elf approach her. Startled by her words, she turns to Elinea, and likewise doesn't really hear her speak, either.

"Focused...yes...". In truth, Fortunata could not stop looking at the elf's ears. She hadn't seen another elf since her father left as a child, and a lot of memories were flooding back to her right now.

Reflexively, she lifted her hand to touch her own ears, stubby, twisted, and ugly, by comparison.

"You're an elf. A full elf. But from where? And why are you here?"

She blushes a little.

"Forgive me. I know why you're here, of course. This gambling event has brought everyone out tonight. I'm Fortune."

Fortunata still circles the room, like a bird of prey, waiting for something to die. She holds a tumbler in her hand, but does not sip from it.

This should apply to Mark Peyton, too. Go to the top of this page and click 'My Account'. Then click 'Create New Messageboard Alias.' Then change the name, click save. Click edit, and then choose an image you'd like to use as your avatar. I've done the process a million times, as I use a different profile for important NPCs in my games.

Fortunata elbows Naeem gently in the ribs.

"It's all for show, chap. All for show. It's not a legally binding contract in any way."

She leans in close to his ear, whispering softly: "In fact, you can put whatever name you want on there."

Fortunata takes her own, and signs it 'Fortune', and hands it back.

"No, dear Andrei. Thank you for asking, though." She leans in and kisses him on the forehead.

"Go on ahead into the chapel. I'll send for Mistress Fierensa in a moment." She walks quickly out of the room, delicately fondling the hilt of her whip as she goes.

Today, I thought.

As Andrei strides up to the temple portion of the House, a familiar lithe figure begins to make her way down the stairs toward him, her whip coiled around her waist. It wags back and forth with every movement of her hips.

"Come for some fun, Andrei? To pay your respects to Calistria perhaps? Or just to visit your mother. Hmm?"

Her voice is soft and purring.

"I'll be anyone's friend, for a price."

Fortune; Assassin, Spy, Whore-Priestess.

Here she is, a work in progress so far. A huge backstory, with lots of plothooky goodness, coming right up!
