Finnegan gives the building a look of scorn - they'd built better in bandit camps, and those were designed to be temporary. Looking at the carnage of the dead pigpen, he frowns. "I'd have expected to see ravens or crows in here, as opposed to just flies. Unless they were scared off by the bigger pig."

Finnegan studies the terrain and the village, a frown on his face. "Not a bad spot. Good visibility. It probably would have been a good idea to build a stockade around the town, though, to hold off any outside attackers. No carrion animals, and no bodies. Let's check the buildings on this side of the river first, and see if we can find a good building to stable the horses in."

Finnegan dismounts, letting his horse's reigns drop, and readies his bow to cover Marcus. As he does, he scans the area, looking for any signs of life - if not humanoid, then perhaps animal.

Finnegan was bored as the priestess of Naderi was welcomed. The merchants had at least been interesting, haggling over the prices and ensuring they would pay the proper tolls. Religious matters bored him, though. Probably had something to do with the fact he literally had devil blood in his veins.

"Maeger Varn? He's a pretty good mercenary - his band is called the 'Varnling Host', and they know their way around a fight. Finnegan was starting to get bored. The past six months had been good, no question, but he wanted to roam a bit. He'd hoped that the complaints coming in of some kind of pest getting in the fields would get him out of the capital, but it looked like that wasn't going to happen now. The trade requests would bring in more money, at least, and having the mites and kobolds show up at the same time was always worth a laugh.

Consulting the maps at Marcus' question, he says, "The Sootscale Caverns are along the Shrike River, and the Mite Caves are a few miles north of them. There shouldn't be any concerns about undermining buildings, althought Nettle's Crossing is directly to the Sootscale clan's east." Looking up, he says, "Regardless, I don't think the Mites should expand South, nor should the Sootscales expand North, else they might run into each other."

Well...strictly speaking, we could animate them, then completely hide them head to toe in full plate. Then they're just heavily armored soldiers. We could even say they're magically animated suits of armor - so long as no one looks inside, it should be believable.

I like the idea of claiming all of the Thorn River, and building a Sawmill, farm, and road.

As for buildings, I'm okay with a Bardic College, and then building a graveyard in Voronakholm. Next turn we should expand Voronakholm to another district.

Do we need to build any houses for anything to work?

Improvements and territory look good to me. I think we can manage to avoid unrest, and we do have a royal enforcer who can try to lower it if we take the hit.

I believe Radomir was the Warden - we could rotate Marcus into that role. I think it's just a Loyalty check to make the transition.

If we need to really bump loyalty, we could build a monument celebrating our victory over the Troll King Hargulka, with his club as the centerpiece.
