If I read the spell correctly its a standard action to cast and a standard action to breath. I can only do so next round. And it is a cone and save DV us 18

Faffnyr sees the skeleton appear and quickly hastes his companions. Looking for a safe spot as far away as those deadly skeletons as possible while still shielded by his companions.

Concentrating for one second Faffnyr uses a Summon Monster 4 spell to conjure an hell hounds.
With a puff of sulfur it appears and on his command bathes the rats in its unholy fire only over the rats. (DC 14 Ref for half damage)

After being handed some he slowly drinks a few sips and then he waves over the water, casting a quick cantrip and drinks some more, seemingly enjoying the flavor.

He then walks over and opens a little cage, bevor unseen to free a small, beautiful woman who flies around his head before sitting down on his shoulder. "And this is Isabeau, my friend and companion!"
