I keep Cure spells in my list so I don't need to choose what to swap out since I know I am going to be casting at least a few cure spells.

And Cure spells can still be used as a weapon against undead.

I don't think the stairs are in the wording for the room, as I recall a thread about an error in Crypt of Everflame, and it dealt with some stairs not existing.
