I'm good with whatever. I will admit that it's a hell of a lot easier to post from my phone on Discord than here.

I haven't tried doing a PbP over Discord, but I could live with it. I do worry it might be harder to keep things organized/legible (since dice rolling bots tend to clutter up the channel they're in).

I really appreciate everyone's patience. I'm doing a lot better and I'm ready to get back into it. Might take a minute to catch up but I am here.

Posting this in all my games, so I apologize if you've seen it already.

I'm going through a difficult period right now with my mental health, and it's making it hard for me to keep up with my games on here. I am not planning to quit or anything, but I just need a day or two to kind of unplug from stuff so I can get myself back to where I can be a more active contributor. In the meantime, I ask for your patience, and I will be back soon.

GM, is there anything additional you might need help with? I think it's probably okay to just put folks on the board if that's what you're still waiting on.

First thing I'd do is put this into your GM alias's info under Race/Gender/Etc so it shows up on all your posts (just remove the % sign): [url%=https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ZvXotzTN8oVcXZnMnbCei5ejIffOW6yZKwiDU_qN_vk/edit?usp=sharing]Tactical Map[/url]

For making the map the background: I actually just went ahead and did it for you here, but here's the process:

1) Click Slide
2) Edit Theme
3) A theme and a bunch of different layouts will appear; scroll all the way to the bottom for the Tactical Map layout
4) Paste any map you want in here
5) Once you have the map you want, go to the slide where we'll actually be playing.
6) Click Slide Again
7) Click Apply Layout
8) Select the Tactical Map Layout

Voila, you have a map that people can move their tokens around on without accidentally moving the map.

Looks like we can all see it! My suggestion for next steps: Change the permissions for the link so that anyone with the link can edit it (so we can place and move our tokens), then add a link to it to the campaign info bar and to the tagline for your GM alias. That way, nobody has to go hunting for it.

If you want to get really fancy, we can teach you about using templates so that the map can't get accidentally bumped around.

Ukagi's got it, that's what I usually do when I need a map for an online game. You can then just paste it into Google slides or Paint (and then save that as a file to upload into Roll20, Foundry, etc).

Sometimes character art gets weird artifacting if you do that, but I've found that if you save it into a program that can do transparent backgrounds (like GIMP) then they disappear.

No worries! You can always use a premade map if it seems like it would be a hassle to make one.

Yup! I wasn't sure if we were supposed to start just yet and I think we probably need a map.

Stealth for Initiative: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (16) + 25 = 41 -3 if using Perception instead.

I'm still good to go!

Until you say otherwise, I'll default to what the book says: I'll tell you I'm trying to Hide or Sneak and post my Stealth bonus, so you can roll it secretly. If I use Vital Shot or something similar, I'll roll the damage separately, like this:

Piercing+Electricity: 2d8 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 4 + (4) = 17
Vital Shot: 17 + 1d8 ⇒ 17 + (1) = 18
Persistent Bleed: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7 This doesn't apply until the end of the target's next turn, but I think it makes sense to roll it ahead of time.

Another thing, because the character isn't complicated enough: the jezail has the concussive trait, so the damage counts as bludgeoning or piercing for the purposes of resistances and immunity, whichever is better for me. "For instance, if the creature were immune to piercing and had no resistance or immunity to bludgeoning damage, it would take full damage from a concussive weapon." It's still only piercing damage for weaknesses, though.

Can't actually do anything that specific, unfortunately. We'd have to operate the spoilers on the honor system.

The primary way that the subclass uses Stealth is to become Hidden or Undetected to enemies. Usually, this just means they're flat-footed to my first attack from hiding, but it also has interactions with the Vital Shot and Ghost Shot abilities.

I won't have Ghost Shot until later, but I do have Vital Shot now. If I hit a flat-footed target with it, the attack deals an extra weapon damage die and they take 2d6 persistent bleed (3d6 at level 15).

There's other ways to inflict the flat-footed condition on someone, but Stealth is the easiest one for me. I can still use the ability even if they're not actually flat-footed, so knowing whether they're flat-footed to me or not mostly just tells me if I should roll the extra damage separately or include it in the total.

Essri, taken aback by the blaring announcement, shrinks away from Strong Jaw and into the darkest corner she can find.

Essri prepares this spell every day

GM, question: my gunslinger subclass is very, very reliant on Stealth checks. Do you want me to roll them in the open, roll them in a spoiler (that only you can open), or do you want to roll them after I tell you the modifier?

Female Kobold Gunslinger 11 | HP 138/138 | AC 29 | F: +19, R: +23, W: +19 | Perc: +20, Stealth: +23, +2 to initiative rolls | Speed 30ft |Hero Points: 1/3 | Focus Pool: None | Reactions: Cringe/Lucky Escape | Conditions: None | Snares: 10/10

Without waiting for the others, Essri scurries forward into the team's preparation room.

Essri's attention turns to Aaryn and her question. She stares for several seconds before giving a short nod of assent.

Female Kobold Gunslinger 11 | HP 138/138 | AC 29 | F: +19, R: +23, W: +19 | Perc: +20, Stealth: +23, +2 to initiative rolls | Speed 30ft |Hero Points: 1/3 | Focus Pool: None | Reactions: Cringe/Lucky Escape | Conditions: None | Snares: 10/10

I didn't pick one of the campaign backgrounds, unfortunately. I didn't feel like the flavor of any of them fit Essri particularly well, as someone who is eccentric even by kobold standards.

Female Kobold Gunslinger 11 | HP 138/138 | AC 29 | F: +19, R: +23, W: +19 | Perc: +20, Stealth: +23, +2 to initiative rolls | Speed 30ft |Hero Points: 1/3 | Focus Pool: None | Reactions: Cringe/Lucky Escape | Conditions: None | Snares: 10/10

I thought to myself, "who would it be funniest for Essri to assume is the leader?" And the choice was obvious.

Female Kobold Gunslinger 11 | HP 138/138 | AC 29 | F: +19, R: +23, W: +19 | Perc: +20, Stealth: +23, +2 to initiative rolls | Speed 30ft |Hero Points: 1/3 | Focus Pool: None | Reactions: Cringe/Lucky Escape | Conditions: None | Snares: 10/10

"Strong Jaw," Essri whispers, gesturing for the bard to come closer. Once he does, she leans in and continues in a hissing whisper. "You are leader, yes? Essri knows of these fighters. The fox lady will try to bash Essri's head in, you should keep her busy."

Female Kobold Gunslinger 11 | HP 138/138 | AC 29 | F: +19, R: +23, W: +19 | Perc: +20, Stealth: +23, +2 to initiative rolls | Speed 30ft |Hero Points: 1/3 | Focus Pool: None | Reactions: Cringe/Lucky Escape | Conditions: None | Snares: 10/10

Knowledge Rolls:
Perception (M): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (13) + 20 = 33
Arcana (E): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31
Religion (T): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28
Nature (T): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28

The tiny kobold, seemingly lost in thought (or perhaps catching a quick nap) is snapped back to the world by the mention of her name.

"What? Oh...yes. You are very lucky to--hmm. Yes, well met." She gives Strong Jaw an appraising look, head tilted to the side. A friendly goblin, she thinks, intrigued by the idea. And one held in some regard by humans, at that. Interesting.

Essri's attention soon turns to the rest of the Endless Sky, and finally to Tino's Toughest. She herself is a small and curious looking thing, with dark crimson scales and yellow eyes that never stay fixated on one thing for long. She holds close to herself an enormous long rifle with an oddly curved stock, the weapon as tall as the kobold herself. She wears clothing with a truly outlandish number of pockets, each one bulging with tools, bullets, or other strange alchemical concoctions. One would think she'd be weighed down by all of it, but she seems to move around easily enough.

Essri might have a high Perception, but that doesn't mean I necessarily do. :P

Or, alternatively, now that I've read all the gameplay posts again, the airship to Goka.

Female Kobold Gunslinger 11 | HP 138/138 | AC 29 | F: +19, R: +23, W: +19 | Perc: +20, Stealth: +23, +2 to initiative rolls | Speed 30ft |Hero Points: 1/3 | Focus Pool: None | Reactions: Cringe/Lucky Escape | Conditions: None | Snares: 10/10

Okay, now just to get the fluff all done. I think the easiest way to fit Essri in would be as a stowaway on your ship to Bonmu. She couldn't find any teams willing to take on an eccentric, gun toting kobold, so she decided to infiltrate one!

Female Kobold Gunslinger 11 | HP 138/138 | AC 29 | F: +19, R: +23, W: +19 | Perc: +20, Stealth: +23, +2 to initiative rolls | Speed 30ft |Hero Points: 1/3 | Focus Pool: None | Reactions: Cringe/Lucky Escape | Conditions: None | Snares: 10/10

Okay, I've got most of the crunch for this character done now. I decided to grab a bunch of snare feats, we'll see how it works out!
