I think I'm actually going to go ahead and bow out of this one - I had a couple of things change on me, and I don't think I'm going to have the time or energy to commit. Good luck to everyone else!

All right, Emily should be pretty well done! Shopping's finished, and I've got all my fluff in place except for one memory - I'll get it in there when I get it worked out in my head. Hopefully you've got enough to go on for now. :)

Rennaivx here with my in-progress unchained summoner Emily and her new companion Korrishan. Fluff just lacks a quick stroll down memory lane, I believe, and crunch just lacks going shopping. Everything's in my alias profile; enjoy! (I do like this character introduction method, by the way - it really helps to flesh things out.)

A young woman walks from stall to stall, looking idly over all the displays the carts have put out. Her dark hair is twisted up into a loose bun; the large pin holding it up looks for all the world like an expended magical wand. A patchwork satchel of cotton and linen bounces against her hip, its stitches straining under the stress of the several books stuffed inside of it.

She stops at one of the stalls and picks up a ball of fine silk yarn, looking over it admiringly and asking the stall keeper a question. When he answers, her face falls, and she sets it back on the shelf. As she turns to leave, her satchel bumps into the cart, and the yarn she had been eyeing rolls onto the cobblestones. Oh, I'm sorry! she exclaims, bending over to pick it up.

Suddenly, a tortoiseshell cat darts out from behind another cart, rushing straight for the ball of yarn and batting at the loose end fiercely. No, Hera, stop that! You'll ruin it! Her cries do no good, however; the cat continues its fierce onslaught, and the trailing end of the yarn begins to shred further and further. Finally, she manages to haul the cat into her arms, though not without a few battle scars, and lifts it up to look eye-to-eye with her. You know better!

The feline merely purrs with haughty indifference.

Embarrassed, the girl turns back to the stall keeper. I can, ah...I can pay for that. She reaches for a pouch at her belt and turns it out, letting a hodgepodge of coins clatter onto the wood counter. She counts out a pile and pushes it toward the stall keeper; the pile she sweeps back into her pouch seems the smaller of the two heaps. Sorry - sorry, she stammers, stuffing the ball into her bag and backing away, cat still in the crook of her elbow.

As she leaves, you can swear she's still talking, though no one is around. Oh, I know it looked prey-like. But you know full well what the difference is. The cat follows behind, the tip of her tail darting back and forth with curiosity, as the girl walks down the street, looking at the sign for the Hare's Shanty.

Well, if someone hadn't made her mama spend a small fortune for a ball of yarn...you're right though, it is quite nice...oh, don't give me that. You weren't just trying to make sure I got something that would make me happy; you just can't keep your paws off what's not yours. She sighs and walks toward the Shanty's door. Well, now it's the only place I can afford lunch. You're just going to have to put up with the smell.

She walks timidly into the crowded common room, the cat purring at her heels, and approaches the bar. A bowl of stew, please, and a glass of ale, she half-whispers, looking self-consciously at the crowd. Shyly, she raises her hand to her arm. Purple, she mutters, and suddenly the long robe she wears changes from a drab black to a vivid violet with a brief glow where her hand rested. She sits in a corner and pulls out the yarn and needles from her patchwork bag, casting stitches on while she watches the hubbub of the common room.

I was in on his Reign of Winter recruitment - it was crazy amounts of people there too.

Yeah, two max is totally fine - and probably about all I have in me right now, haha. :)

Would you be all right with me creating and submitting another character? I'm noticing a lack of divine casters at the moment and have a couple ideas, but I don't want to hog the spotlight.

All done except for one thing - crafting feats, yes or no? I took Scribe Scroll in keeping with the stereotypical wizard feel, and I was wondering if having it would mean I could have a scroll or two scribed at half price already, or if all such half-price crafting would have to take place during gameplay. Whichever you prefer is totally fine. (I'm leaning toward at least Craft Wondrous Items later in the game as well.)

Oh yeah, I'm familiar with the kits - that's exactly what I was talking about getting. I was mostly checking on whether there was some particular circumstance the characters would reasonably know about going in that would necessitate anything unusual.

Update: story and description are mostly done. I'll be working now on mechanics. I am planning on going School Savant, since I'll still be able to start with a familiar thanks to your kind fiat. :)

Another update: mechanics are now pretty much done. Pretty much all that's left is me spending money. I'm assuming the usual basic traveling gear?

Question: I'm considering the School Savant archetype to take the divination (scryer) school, but I'd also been planning to take Extra Arcanist Exploit as a first level feat to get my familiar. With the archetype, I trade away my first and third level exploits, which means I technically don't have the arcane exploit class feature until fifth level, at least according to interpretations I've heard from others before. Is there a chance I could talk you into letting me take Extra Arcanist Exploit anyway, or a chance you don't share that interpretation? If not, it's just fine, but I figured I'd ask.
Normally I would say no, but to get a familiar, which fits the classic arcane caster feel, I'll allow it.

And the introverted cat-lady feel. :) It basically means I'll be playing a wizard, except that I really don't like ordinary prepared casting.

I'll go ahead and dot in with my character alias, though I'll be working on her profile over the next few days.

Emily is an academic type who's channeled her natural cleverness and curiosity into an impressive array of knowledge - but tends to be too much inside her head to do something silly like use that knowledge to perform well in her studies or get ahead in a career. For years, she's gotten by as a guard at a repository of arcane artifacts, developing a talent for divination magics in the process.

Dreamy and introverted, she's spent little time in the "real world", and as such is easy to catch off guard. She's definitely not a social butterfly, and doesn't read people well, but she's good at heart and always means the best, even if she's not good at getting that across. Good conversation is actually one of her greatest delights, although her attention can wander when the topic doesn't excite her. Her closest companion is her pet cat Hera - after all, cats always live in a state of vague offense at the world, and it's not like social awkwardness offends them more.

Mechanically, she'll be an arcanist with School Understanding: Divination (Scryer), focusing on support and battlefield control, with a cat familiar. I'm considering taking VMC: Bard or Oracle as well, but I'm undecided.
