Ditto.

Why does this worry me so....?

Elizabeth slowly shakes her head. Huh. [Homeless] really could not have made that sound more cheesed if he had been trying. Of course, he could well mean it, but that certainly didn't mean that Elizabeth was included in that friendship, not by a long shot; they had only met a few minutes ago, and who knew how they might react if they knew she was a Master? I was a risky situation, especially with what they might have been through....but she chuckled and smiled a bit. What the hell, this could be interesting; Irrisyana seemed sincere, at least, and with hope for a good ally from her family pretty much a wash at this point, she might just need these friends. And Avenger was still there.

....Avenger, you are still there, right? "Alright, tea it is."

Perception, Insight and Magic Defense:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 181d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 181d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

Elizabeth gave a small sigh. Another hope, dashed. At the same time, another was raised; maybe she could turn this to her advantage.

Or maybe they wouldn't kill her, at least.

She nodded to [Homeless]. "Got it. So, you're all [REDACTED1]? Any good stories, or [REDACTED2]?" She looked over n the direction Irrisyana had gone. "....is she actually gonna make a giant cake?"

Perception, Insight and Magic Defense:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 111d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 81d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Elizabeth blinked. This feeling of surreality was getting downright oppressive. Then she remembered to nod and lift a hand in greeting to the other new party. "Um....nice to meet you. Er, ho do you know Irrisyana?"

Perception and Magic Defense:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 111d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Elizabeth stopped short. Her brain fizzed once or twice. What she was seeing....certainly cleared the air on at least one issue, so that was something. She nervously stayed close to the door. The fact that Irrisyana was still quite cheerfully acting very weird (by comparison to the average person) was only slightly reassuring. "Avenger, please tell me you're really close by. Things just got weirder. Again." She cleared her throat. "Um....are, uh, you going to introduce me?"

Perception and Magic Defense:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 291d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

Elizabeth tries not to get too far into theorizing about the many and varied implications of this information, the fact that Irrisyana doesn't seem to watch anything less than fifteen years old notwithstanding (unless that was simply her own lack of knowledge on the subject speaking). Instead she tries to focus on not losing her likely temporary new companions en route to their destination. "Where are we going, anyways?"

Perception and Insight:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 161d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

"Um....ok? You're sure it'll be fine? E-er, do I need to, like feed it, or...." Elizabeth peters off and decides now isn't really the optimal time to be worrying about such things. For the time being she gently stuffs the rabbit in her jacket pocket and moves to follow Irrisyana. "So who's this nee-chan of yours?" She hopes that this won't turn out to be as important as she is beginning to fear. "What movies do you guys like?" She listens half-interestedly to the strange girl's ramblings, praying that she won't need to kill her. "Avenger, update?"

Perception, Insight, Magic Knowledge and Luck:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 221d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 201d20 + 21 ⇒ (11) + 21 = 321d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

"Dammit, this is not the time....where are they coming from, how long till they get here, and anything you can tell about them. Stick close to us; intercept if they move to attack, but otherwise stay defensive for now. I'm pulling guests, so watch for that. If we can avoid fighting in broad daylight we should." "Um, yeah, I'm ready. How do you wanna get out?" She was distracted for a moment by the rabbit shifting slightly. "Also, um, how am I supposed to carry the rabbit? I kinda need my hands...."

Perception, Insight and Magic Defense:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 161d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 71d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Despite the situation - i.e., standing in the middle of a brutal murder scene, with two possible enemies before her, at least one of whom is not human, while holding a rabbit - Elizabeth found herself smiling slightly as the strange girl pumped her hand and expounded upon the uses of rabbits in emergency communication. It was oddly difficult not to lighten up slightly around Irrisyana. "No, no. It's none of these people." No unnecessary blood on her hands quite yet. "Alright, Irri. Thank you. Um, if you're done here, how about we go elsewhere and talk, after look around a moment?" She looks at Eric. "Is that alright with you?" "Hey, Avenger, you there? How are we doing?"

Perception, Insight and Magic Defense:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 211d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 151d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

Bleh. I like kitties and bunnies. I cuddles them now.

Also I think it got up this time.

Blink. Stare.

....

....what....

....

Blink. Stare.

....Elizabeth's brain starts to catch back up to the situation when she is handed a....rabbit....?....oh. OH, OK, ok, that would make sense that....well, that raises some new questions, but it's something. She can handle this. Even if she is now somewhat unexpectedly holding a rabbit. Or perhaps because of that, but that's neither here nor there. "Um, hi. I was, uh....investigating, too. I, uh, was looking for someone, and was afraid they'd been killed. Er, I'm....Riza." She holds out a non-rabbit-occupied hand to shake. "Um. Why did you give me this rabbit?" "Hey, Avenger are we still good out there? You need to be ready. Things just got weird....just be ready."

Perception, Insight and Magic Defense:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 231d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 241d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25

Knowledge(magic):
1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27

Noted.

The Harlow family from Fate/EXTRA, a game whose setting involved magecraft existing almost solely within the confines of virtual reality. More to the point, a game with an interesting choice of Berserker in one route (Rin's, I think, I haven't gotten there yet) which just hits way too close for comfort here, especially with your aforementioned choice of picture (Also I was referring to the family in general, not this specific mention; don't know what that's all about).

Also noted. And worried. So, so worried.

....she could've dyed it or something, meh. I just got the specific flavor(s) of non-human wrong, if she's what I think she is.

That said: Irri looks (and acts, somewhat) rather familiar. And given all the gathered IC evidence, and the fact that I know perfectly well what the "Harway" family is a reference to, I have now formed a terrifying theory about exactly who and what I am in this room with. On the other hand I would hope Avenger isn't enough of a dick to screw me over like this.

10:05 AM

Elizabeth freezes.

....she freezes some more. She....she had expected someone to be here, but....this was not....

....she needs to move. To hide. It was daytime, this was a crime scene, and with those features....there was a good chance these were Einzbern homonculi. It was probably a good idea to keep low and NOT get into a fight just yet.

Luck and Stealth:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 201d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28

Perception and Magic Defense:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 271d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

"Magic VS. Passive Effect", does that mean Magic Defense?

what

Do I....do I need to roll? I don't even....

Avenger, what in hell are you doing here? You're supposed to be helping me investigate.

Elizabeth cursed silently. She wasn't averse to breaking a few eggs if need be - or laws, for that matter - but entering a crime scene in broad daylight did not strike her as a good idea at all, especially one that she was, in point of fact, almost certainly connected to, at least tangentially. But really, what choice did she have? She would just have to minimize her contact with the area, try to leave minimal evidence of her intrusion. "Avenger, keep an eye out for me. I'm going in." And then she moved for the house.

Not really sure what checks are needed here.

9:50 AM-ish(?)

Elizabeth didn't have to try hard to fake the worry on her face this time. That certainly sounded like a Servant. Or Servants, since there was more than one weapon being used....? Whatever. She spoke again. "Christ, that's horrible....um, I hate to ask, but do you....recognize any of the people in this picture?" She held out the picture of the girls. She also mentally called to Avenger: "Hey, what's up? You there?"

Perception and Insight:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 181d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Welcome back, old magus guy.

Elizabeth mentally answered Avenger ("Don't know if that's good or bad....could you start looking around while I question this guy? There could be other magical-traces, or something else useful.") but tried to keep appearances for her current source of information - that is, the officer. She affected a civilian-y worried expression. "No, I haven't heard about that. Um, what's going on? Should I be worried?"

Perception and Insight:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 161d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Elizabeth looks around cautiously, trying to be inconspicuous. "Avenger, can you sense anything?" Then she walks up to the remaining officer and asks (in Japanese, presumably): "Hey, um, what happened here?"

Perception, Insight and Observation (I guess?):
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 131d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

....bulls***. No way. Bulls***. No! Damn it, how was that even POSSIBLE, it had only been like twenty god**** minutes...."AVENGER." No, bad, be calm, low voice. "Avenger. We need to move, now."

Elizabeth left the shop, quickly, and hurried to her destination, praying that it was just a terrifying coincidence.

Perception:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

9:30 AM-ish

Elizabeth seethes and growls, "Come on, Avenger." She stomps off, looking for a good place to rest. She enters the first peaceful-looking coffee shop or similar thing she finds, settles into a secluded table, and concentrates. If it was a race he wanted, it was a race he'd get.

Perception:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Elizabeth controlled herself. Barely. Fine; it wasn't her fault if he wanted to be stupid about this. Immoral? Underhanded? She expected that, if perhaps not to this extent. But this kind of carelessness....she shook her head in frustration, focusing her glare on the man before her. Either he wasn't as smart as she had always grudgingly believed him to be, or there was more at work here. She really wasn't sure which option she liked less.

But either way, no matter what her "family" was doing, she had her own work cut out for her. And the first item on the list was to head off those mercenaries and get a handle on the situation. "Fine. Was there anything else, or can I go?"

Perception and Insight:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 261d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

And now Elizabeth is seeing red.

What. In. God's. Name. Was. The. F***ing. Point. Of. Seperating. The. Lynchpin. Of. Your. Entire. Puppy. F***ing. Operation. From. The. God. Damned. SUPPORT. STRUCTURE.

There is no logic here. There is nothing approaching good planning or sense. Why was she cut of from the the lion's share of the resources of the side she was supposed to be winning the War for if THEY WERE LITERALLY INCAPABLE OF WINNING THE WAR WITHOUT HER? THAT WAS THE ENTIRE POINT OF HER INVOLVEMENT. It would make more sense to just lock her in a damn room at this point, and keep her fresh and not dead for any Servants that the poor, unsuspecting mercenaries can't handle on their own! And if the Church was oh-so-reliably protecting family members and associates, and if her side was explicitly relying on this, then WHY WASN'T HER SIDE INVESTIGATING THEIR MURDER TARGETS BEFOREHAND TO ENSURE THAT THEY DON'T OFFEND THE CHURCH? WHAT THE HELL WAS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?

She desperately forces herself to say nothing, because if she says something it will probably be either an inarticulate scream of rage or an order to Avenger to wreck s***. After what feels like an eternity, she feels confident enough in her control of her faculties to grind out, between the carefully regulated breathing and in a last ditch effort to not be the only member of Team Avenger, besides possibly its namesake, not operating entirely on stupid-juice: "Why, exactly, are you going after these people, then? Are not they likely to be protected by the Church as well? Would not it be in your best interest to not piss off the people you claim to be relying on for protection?"

Perception and Insight:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 291d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Elizabeth stared in disbelief. "You mean you....you just gave the order to have several random people killed....with no more information than a d***ed photo I found on the ground? How....why...." She had a headache. This was actually causing her physical pain. It took a moment for her to wrap her mind around the truly monumental idiocy and lack of concern for anything even vaguely resembling basic human decency - or common sense - being displayed by the man before her. "How....how were you planning to confirm that? These are MAGES, some of them could probably fake that s*** easily! What if this causes incidents beyond the sanctioned scope of the War? How in God's name are they even supposed to FIND them, what if they just slaughter their way through a bunch of schools?! How am I supposed to....AND FOR CHRIST'S SAKE, WHAT IN THE GOD D***ED HELL ARE YOU DOING IN THE BASEMENT?! F***! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!?"

Perception and Insight:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 151d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Elizabeth stared at the man before her. Disgusting. It hit her harder than she would have expected - for all her raging hatred off him and his ilk, she had still assumed a certain basic humanity. But here he was, refusing to back down on the matter of MURDERING A YOUNG GIRL AND HER CLASSMATES. She really wasn't going to get anywhere at this rate. She continued glaring in disbelief. "Alright, how were you planning on finding her?"

Perception and Insight:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 271d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

9:15 AM-ish

Elizabeth glares back, forcing herself to breath slowly and evenly. "That's not tr-Walter, don't you f****** dare leave- that's not true. I do have to like it right now. This is wrong, Eric. I'm not standing by and letting you flat out murder innocent people here. And come on, you moron, look at it logically. It was stupidly easy to find that photo; it's probably a plant. Maybe someone sending us on a wild goose chase, or trying to get us to get into it with a different team - or to lead us right into a trap of their own. And JUST NOW you were talking about how YOU shouldn't be in any danger because I'M the Master and you're a bystander. Fine. You do this, you escalate things. You put yourself and your people in much greater danger. And God d*** it all, YOU NEED ME. You don't trust me as far as you could throw me, but you still came to me with this job. This will all be a lot easier for all of us if we work together a little bit."

Perception and Insight:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 191d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

9:15 AM-ish

....what? "....what? Wait, what?! NO! Nononono, no, don't do that! What the hell, you psycho! Don't just kill her! Them! Christ! We don't know who she is or why her picture was there! There's no damn reason to just start murdering people, you sick f***!"

Perception and Insight:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 121d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Elizabeth snorts. "You f****** are so screwed....and so am I, probably. But whatever. It's your call. No, I don't think there was anything else....oh, if you're gonna have people investigating, I guess these might be important." She pulls out the photos. "That vigilante moron gave 'em to me. He thought they were related to the poison attacks somehow. And I found this one" here she shifted to the picture of the girl, "freaking drenched in mana traces from what I suspect was the Berserker team. Probably a plant, with my luck, but who knows?"

Perception and Insight:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 221d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

It's hardly a shock for Elizabeth to have Eric's lack of trust in her confirmed. It's even less shocking to realize that he doesn't intend to allow her access to the Grail.

The second point, though....how was one selected for the War in the first place? Was it some other power, perhaps a secret cabal within the Tower? Was it actually the Grail deciding, as was sometimes said? If the first, then ok; but if the second, then how? Why? Why would the Grail bend to the whims of the Craigs, of all people? And why her? She didn't want it. Another sigh, this one mostly internal. More problems to figure out. Just what she needed.

But for the moment, she has other things to worry about. Insulting the man before her some more, for instance. "Believe whatever you want to, s***-for-brains. If anyone finds out who I'm working for, you'll find yourself with a great big target painted on your face. And do you honestly think that 'the entirety of the head family's resources' means jack out here? You're nothing compared to most of the real families, and there are any number of others who'd love to get their hands on the Grail." She shakes her head in mock wonder. "But you really think you can do it, don't you? Otherwise you wouldn't be here. F****** idiot." Another shake of the head. "As for news, the situation looks damned near FUBAR already. The city's water seems to have been poisoned, and at least one other Master is as deluded as you - seems to think he can stop the chaos on his own, vigilante-style. Just barely got away without a fight. And there are traces of high-level magecraft all over the city, probably Master/Servant teams. It's gonna be nasty."

Perception and Insight (because paranoia):
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 151d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

For a single, glorious moment, Elizabeth has to fight the urge to order Avenger to kill the man before her. Then it's gone, and it's just another meeting. With appropriate niceties, of course.

"Well f*** you too. As it happens I did hope there was enough faith in me, as your chosen sacrifice, that YOU of all people wouldn't feel the need to fly out. Why not some lieutenant or leg-breaker? You know what a phone is, right?" Suddenly, she feel suspicious. Why did the arrogant moron feel the need to be here, in what was now one of the most dangerous locations on Earth, in person?

Perception and Insight:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 281d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Elizabeth stopped and stared, her face frozen in shock, confusion and rage. She doesn't bother trying to conceal any of it.

"....oh G** d*** it. What in the HELL are you doing here?! I knew someone from the family would be here, but YOU?! F***!" she growls.

8:30 AM - 9:00 AM -ish

For what seemed the thousandth time that day, Elizabeth sighed, this time in tired frustration. Nothing to show for this trip except a photo. It wasn't even ten in the morning and she already wanted to go back to sleep....well, at least she's still alive. It could've been much worse. She greets Avenger tiredly, shows him the photo, and sets off towards her next destination.

And this trail....well, there wasn't much guesswork to do: It was probably a Master and their Servant. And if what she had read was anything to go by, Berserker was a good guess. That made her chuckle a bit. It really could have been worse.

Perception and Insight:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 111d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Elizabeth looks at the photograph. How....impossibly convenient. She sighs. It's probably a plant, a tempting morsel to lure her into some overly convoluted scheme. Unfortunately that doesn't mean she can ignore it.

But now isn't the time. For now, she needs to (finally) investigate that damned energy signature, and run at least one important errand. After that....well, she certainly seemed to have her self-imposed work cut out for her. The poisoned water, the second signature, this girl....she sighed again. She hadn't even gotten into a fight yet. This was shaping up to be a long Holy Grail War.

Assuming she survived that long. She shook her head and waited for Avenger.

Perception and Insight:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 251d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Elizabeth shrugs and waits for Avenger to return.

Perception, Insight and Luck:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 161d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 111d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

I'm starting to resent being the only one having to reveal any stats, though I do realize there's a reason for it.

Elizabeth nods and watches him go, pretending to sigh in relief as she waits for the presence of his Servant to fade.

Perception and Insight:
1d20 ⇒ 131d20 ⇒ 13

8:00 AM-ish

Elizabeth had known, or at least suspected, that the enemy Servant was likely nearby. She'd been pretty sure that she was moments away from death for this whole encounter.

That didn't make it any less unnerving to find out precisely how close she really was.

She suppresses a shudder. Not the time. "Alright. Thanks for the information; I'll keep an eye out. Is that it? Do you know anything else, anything strange going on?" It would be nice to know if she was likely to run into him while investigating the signatures.

Perception and Insight:
1d20 ⇒ 71d20 ⇒ 18

8:00 AM-ish

Elizabeth shrugs....and then thinks. There were two energy signatures. He said he wanted to end this war with minimal damage. Trust, or not trust?

....definitely not trust. He was too suspicious, too evasive. And she had an uncomfortable feeling that she'd just dodged a potentially lethal bullet. But that was no reason not to be halfway polite, even to arrogant vigilantes like this guy; his (stated) goals weren't necessarily counter to her own, and not making enemies was probably a good idea. She sighs. "Whatever. Was there anything else? If you're telling the truth, then we should just stay out of each other's way. We have no reason to fight. OK?"

Perception and Insight:
1d20 ⇒ 181d20 ⇒ 4

8:00 AM-ish

A small, somewhat irrational part of Elizabeth's mind pouted. Arguments over semantics and other such literary things were fun. She gives a mental head shake; focus.

She gives Avenger a flat look, mentally thanks him for checking her (and deciding to never tell him, extenuating circumstances aside), and takes a small breath. "OK, fine. How about this: What do you want right now? Did you just decide on the spot to introduce yourself to someone who might try to kill you, or was there something else you wanted?"

She slowly stretches out her mind....

Perception and Insight:
1d20 ⇒ 31d20 ⇒ 7

(Slightly after the last post)

Elizabeth looks at him levelly. He's really starting to piss me off. "One, I asked who you were, not what your name was; you started by telling me who I was after all, making YOU the rude one. Two, you've essentially just admitted that you want me out of the way, alive or otherwise, and that you're a suspect in the poisonings and other crap that's been happening; why should I let you live? Three, give me a good reason to leave this all, not some bull-crap about hating violence, and maybe we'll talk. I have my own goals, and I know what released Servants usually do."

Perception and Insight:
1d20 ⇒ 121d20 ⇒ 10

(Around 8 AM-ish)

Elizabeth shoots Avenger a glare and studies the man carefully, her expression and voice flattening. "Fine. Who are you and what do you want?"

(You said to make a Per check, so I did....)

Insight and Perception:
1d20 ⇒ 191d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Anyone here? Are we waiting for something in particular?

Elizabeth lets something between a small, worried grimace and a tight smile form on her face. "It's 'safer' because, in our situation and on a flat scale, we should be less likely to be attacked in a crowded place. As for the second part....heh, well, we're pretty sure that there are magical forces in the area willing to poison thousands of innocent bystanders, so there's no guarantee this isn't something like that. As such, it's either a threat to us, specifically, in which case that threat is lessened, or it's a threat to everything around it, in which case that threat is enormously increased. So we go downtown."

She shifts slightly, feeling the solid weight of a knife, and begins walking in the direction of the Downtown Energy Signature.

Time-frame on that plane crash, please?

Also, first person to (publicly) hit a save-flag (I think)! Woot! Yayifications!....

....

....*shivers slightly*....

Elizabeth looks at Avenger. "You feel those, too?" She looks back towards the emanations. Crap, what now? "*sigh* OK....that's downtown, and that's, uh, somewhere else. I guess I'd prefer to check downtown first: Safer, theoretically, and if it's something dangerous then that one could do a lot more damage." She looks back to Avenger. "Your thoughts?"
