Honestly, paying attention is the best and first defensive measure to take.

If you get enough of a head start and start running with a speed spell, you stand a good chance of getting away.

This is so very true. When I am gathering/traveling I tend to be looking at my mini map just as much if not more than my main screen.

Thanks, that is very good to know. Time to switch back to energetic field.

Speed
- Must have an orison or cantrip for speed, preferably Energetic Field. Try to get the Speed spell, and last resort maybe Speed Potions. You have to have something for this.

Why energetic field over agile feet? If you are only looking for speed boost, wouldn't the 6 round duration of agile feet be more desirable than the 2 round duration of energetic field? Since you would be using a focus, you could also slot some heals and other buffs.

I would also add some stealth to the mix. I have had several instances where those few extra feet made the difference between being able to get a node and being attacked by a camp full of ogres.

You can add me to the list of people who would like an alpha invite. Thanks!

Hunter, like Druid, technically doesn't qualify for Monstrous Mount. That being said, Cavalier is really solid and while they are very incentivized to be mounted they're far from worthless off the mount. They've also got some of the best synergy since Tactician shares their TW feats with the mount as well.

That is correct. I also checked and it does not appear that druid can have a griffon as an animal companion.

What about Hunter? They get teamwork feats to share with their pets.

I didn't think that the griffon was on the list of druid animal companions. If it is, then that opens up some more options (a wild child brawler could be interesting).

Using the retraining rules from Ultimate campaign you can retrain your 3rd level feat at 5th level for Boon Companion. THis would put the ranger option on the same track. Not saying its the best option but its there.

Good call on the retraining. It certainly makes the Ranger a more viable option.

Well Ranger has the Sable Company Marine archetype and it's a ball of fun.

This is my Plan B. If I can't figure out a way to make the griffon work to my satisfaction, I will go with the Sable Company Marine and a hippogriff.

Summoner. I currently have a griffon styled eidolon.

There is some potential here. The only problem is that I would like a more martially inclined character that plays more than a support role to their pet.

Ever since I got Inner Sea Combat I have wanted to make a griffon rider. Now, I know that large mounts are not optimal for PFS, but I am not overly concerned about that. I will buy some hosteling full plate and have the griffon pop out whenever possible.

Anyway, I have been throwing around several ideas for this and I wanted to get feedback from the community. Here are my thoughts so far:

Lawful Good crusader type. I envision him as a switch-hitter that can mix it up in melee and also be decent with a shortbow while flying around on the griffon.

As far as classes go, this is what I have looked at:

Cavalier - I like teamwork feats, I like that the cavalier can bestow teamwork feats on their allies, but I feel like it is a little TOO mount-centric. I would like to be effective on or off my mount.

Samurai - Would make for a good switch hitter with mounted archery and extra combat feats. Not overly fond of the flavor of the class.

Paladin - While I want to be a lawful good crusader type, I would like to show that you don't have to be a paladin to be one.

Ranger - Favored enemy, combat styles, good skills, and spells. A good combination, but with a big drawback (in my eyes). Because I really need to get boon companion, I can't get monstrous mount until 7th level and Monstrous Mastery until 9th level. That is a little too late for my taste.

Warpriest (Divine Commander archetype) - So far this one is in the lead. Sacred weapon, fervor, 6 levels of spell casting, heavy armor, and some cavalier like abilities. It gives up the blessings in order to get the mount, but I honestly wasn't too impressed by any of the blessings.

What do you think? Did I overlook anything?

One level of Alchemist to add your Int mod to splash weapons.

Focused Shot to add Int to ranged attacks.
Deadly Aim to boost damage on ranged attacks.

Unfortunately the level of Alchemist will not work because Acid Splash is not a splash weapon.

Focused Shot only works with bows and crossbows.

I think Deadly Aim is a good idea and see no reason why it wouldn't work, at least with rays.

Here you go from the Paizo Inc Frequently Asked Questions, this should get them to print it.

Can I print my PDF, or have it professionally printed?

You may print one copy of any Paizo PDF for personal use. Note that this only applies to products that list Paizo Publishing as the copyright holder—other publishers may have different policies; you'll need to contact them directly.

I tried this. They were physically incapable of printing it. The error said it was protected.

I'd suggest using a "save as PDF" option from your computer's "print" dialogue to create a duplicate "new" PDF, which should avoid this sort of thing. (I use this to flatten Paizo PDFs before printing from a public computer to save the hassle of waiting on the public computer to do it, if they're slow, or the occasional mess where the public computer will print one ... page ... at ... a ... time.)

This should be a default option in Mac, and not difficult to achieve in Windows (I used the CutePDF printer, I think, when I had Windows?).

I have never been able to do this using either CutePDF or Acrobat Distiller. The permissions on the PDFs (at least all of the ones that I have tried) do not allow for it.

There may not be anything that can be done about this. I just looked at the restrictions on the PDF and they allow for printing. It is likely that the person at Staples is trying to do something that is triggering the "no edit" restriction. This can happen if they are trying to use imposition software or if they tried to combine multiple files before they print. Did you ask them to print this as a booklet or were you having them print multiple files?

I am also surprised that the Pain Taster made the cut and not surprised about all the spellcasting options not making it (I was getting headaches just thinking about people trying to figure out Numerology every round).

In all honesty, I just wanted the two ioun stones.

Venture Captain Phinneous Phest has decided to turn his caravan into a sort of mobile lodge, called The Lantern Road. The purpose of this lodge is to smuggle... ummm... i mean transport... yeah, transport... Pathfinder agents into locations where they may not be welcome. The Lantern Road will also facilitate the transfer of more "sensitive" cargo from the nation of origin back to the Grand Lodge.
