Elenia listens to Morven's song but isn't drawn in by it. She aims her light crossbow at the enemy crew member closest to her on the rope. 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 The crossbow bolt falls short, clattering into the sea. She hunkers back down against the cover and reloads her crossbow.

Elenia hurries down to the crew quarters and collects her crossbow and spellbook.
When Elenia returns, she goes to help Mr Gleambright prepare the defensive structures. She will cast mage armour on herself should it be needed if we are looking like a definite combat situation.
Female Half Elf Wizard/1
Elenia goes to the hold and finds 6 hammocks, a needle and some thick thread and brings them back up to the deck. She looks at the bodies to see if there is anything unique about their clothing or on their persons.

Elenia looks at Salty and sighs. "And what is in it for me? I'm all for helping others perfect their knowledge of spells but I will have to translate it for you." Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

@ Salty - You don't know that Elenia has touch of the sea but she does prepare it each morning. If DM allows - maybe make a spell craft check to see if you can identify it first, then we will go from there. Elenia also needs to speak to you more before she would be willing to teach it to you. FYI my spell book is written in Varysan so you would also need to comprehend languages unless you continue to speak with Elenia who may write it out for you.
Female Half Elf Wizard/1
Elenia looks at Salty and says... I don't make a habit of sleeping next to something that smells like it's been dragged behind a ship. Oh, wait that DID just happen to you. Anyway, it takes more than one act to make you a hero. She goes back to reading her book. as DM message: reroll knowledge geog check with +2 bonus. 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30 to find out about the Uncharted Isles

Quote: You choose one of the spells offered and Mr Stokes teaches you how to cast it, enabling you to write it into your spellbook. Elenia looks at the spells indicated by Mr Stokes and chooses Touch of the Sea to learn and dutifully copies it in her spell book. She thanks Mr Stokes for teaching her. Quote: I’ve seen you reading – is it a factual or fictional book? If its factual, may I borrow it in exchange. If it’s fictional, never mind. Elenia looks at Mr Stokes, smiles and says "The short stories in it are real enough in my imagination but I guess you would call it fiction. I do like to think that the island of wild dogs and boar exists somewhere out there though! After a fairly poor attempt at logging the inventory, Elenia is glad to reach the end of her watch. Going to the crew sleeping quarters, Elenia carries her book on the Uncharted Isles and settles in her hammock, reading it. She remarks to Salty: A good rescue of the dwarf there my friend - saving crew is the correct thing to do! She then settles back, reading the book.

Quote: @Elenia. You accost Mr Stokes in his office you try to sound sincere but just come across as blunt. Mr Stokes doesn’t look phased and puts down his pen and looks at you. ”Yes. I thought you might have. Good work by the way. I don’t like to see crew drown, especially when they can be easily saved. I fear your friend Mr Salt may receive a rather harsh lesson in humility soon though.” He takes his Spell book from the book shelf and asks ”What is it precisely that you want to learn about?” He holds a hand up to stop you before you can answer ”First. What School do you specialise in? I am a Transmuter but I cannot help you much with the Evocation School.” Elenia looks at Mr Stokes - "I am an Elementalist, specialising in water. I would like to know how to cast Enlarge Person - it helped Salty save Brayan. My animate rope did some work, but I would like to be better prepared in the future. Other that, I would be happy as you have more experience if there is anything you think I should know. Would I be allowed to look at your Uncharted Isles books please?" @DM - Do you want me to make a roll for looking at the books?
Female Half Elf Wizard/1
Elenia thinks of all the stories she has read regarding the Uncharted Isles. Could there be the Dark Isle built of volcanic ash and obsidia, resident to rare species of birds there? Or the Shark's Teeth Isle, home to different species of animals, including wild dogs and boar? she muses to herself. Profession Clerk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
She looks at Mr Stokes and says "I made the rope save Brayan and Salty. I'm glad my magic came in handy" She goes on to ask whether she may come and see him to discuss magic after this shift. Diplomacy 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7

As soon as Elenia finishes casting animate rope, she works with Joan and the other crew members to haul in the rope. She gives Salty a hearty pat on the shoulder , tousles his hair and says Well done - pretty good swimming there, eventually after a poor entry" She turns to Brayan and says Now that your ordeal's over, get dry. You will have to learn to swim soon! She remains on deck and seeks out Mr Stokes and asks what he would have her do next. she tells him she will take up his offer re. Wizard help when the storm is over!

Elenia takes the 4 crew members down to the cargo hold and with Mr Stokes, the 6 quickly make safe all of the cargo taking 10 for a total profession(clerk) check of fifteen. She then returns to the main deck and ensures she clips onto the reef line, just as Brayan falls overboard. Elenia prepares herself to jump overboard to save the dwarf who she found endearing to her. She feels her adrenaline spiking at her first real test of adventure! in all her books, she never read of a non-swimmer sailor . With a shake of a head and a mutter to herself, she is about to unclip herself from the reef line, mindful that she will be disobeying a direct order from the Captain, but she thinks Survival of a crew mate comes first! As she is about to jump in, she sees a bulked out, much bigger version of the tusked, half orc cook jumping into the water, as the female human throws a rope close to Brayan. I will wait for Salty to be next to Brayan before casting animate rope as it only lasts for one round
Female Half Elf Wizard/1
Back from rowing and lots has happened! As the DM has said - it may be an idea to plan what we are doing first, so here is my preposition. @ Salty - I have a really good plan to rescue Brayan but will need your help and will need to check something with DM also - Elenia will be diving in to rescue the dwarf! I have a +5 modifier to swim currently and wonder if you would consider casting enlarge person on Elenia instead of yourself as she will go in to rescue Brayan - reading about unlikely heroes in her adventure books, Elenia feels that this is down to her her to rescue the non swimmer dwarf as the unlikely, less strong looking crew member. DM - i took animate rope and was wondering if I dived in off the deck, if I could use that from my spellbook to tie a knot around Brayan after talking to him to calm him down?

Profession clerk 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 Elenia works with ease through the cargo logs checking for any discrepancies. Thinking back to her training Elenia remembers that she was told other wizards would be friendly. Perhaps I was too hasty with my approach with Mr Stokes she muses. Elenia is silent throughout her task. DM. Perception roll for any other books that Elenia might like to see on the bookcase Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

After being knocked out early in the game of Liar's dice, Elenia sits in her hammock, reading a book, keeping herself to herself, dwelling on what Mr Stokes said to her... She eventually falls asleep in her hammock, with her monkey curled up on her feet.... Elenia sleeps deeply and doesn't hear much of Salty's snoring.
Female Half Elf Wizard/1
As Elenia goes to sign out at the end of her shift, she points to the Eldritch looking book. I didn't notice that in the inventory, Mr Stokes. My teacher at Wizard college told me to be on the look out for other wizards in order to learn from them. If you would be willing that is... Diplomacy roll 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10 After waiting for a response from Mr Stokes, Elenia then bids him good night amd then retires to the crew quarters. She sits at the dice table and without saying much, puts a dull silver piece on the dice table. Perception roll for game - checking to see if anyone is cheating.
Elenia's monkey hops onto Errol's shoulder again.

After keeping a record of the goods coming in and going out, Elenia is pleased to see to ship taking off. She joins in with a lilting soprano voice with the crew song and sings: Heading off to sea, may the winds blow strongly.... The crew join in with a rousing Way haul away, we'll haul away Joe Elenia continues with a wry smile... Set the correct course, we don't want it to go wrongly! The crew respond with nods and a loud final.... Way haul away, we'll haul away Joe

Elenia is excited she finally gets to start an adventure at sea. Thinking to herself, she pictures Mr Stokes as a character in one of the sea adventure books she read. A well dressed, grumpy misunderstood man who started off with visions of being in charge of a ship.... Who latterly realised his forte lay in quartermastery, the true leader of the boat. He would be at the heart of action.... A twitter from her monkey running along the ropes of the waterproof bags brings Elenia's thoughts back to the real world... Elenia smiles at Errol and says As long as your dice are not loaded I would be more than happy to play once I've settled in and know the ropes..." She looks at Joan and says quietly .... I don't think you realise that a bit of banter is fine... But there is no need to suck up and speak badly of people in such close quarters... News of this gets around." She walks over to Errol and asks What can you tell me about Mr Stokes... I'm going to be working with him .... Any advice you can give me? When waiting for Errol to respond, she unpacks some of her gear into the waterproof bags, laying her wizard kit in her waterproof bag on one of the bunks. her monkey runs up to Errol and jumps on his shoulder.

The snotty faced, grumpy, obsequious, insolent little man starts counting.... 1... 2... 3.... Elenia quickly scans the list of names, not at all phased by the man's counting and says to him as he reaches 15. " I think you'll find you interviewed 172 of us today and have offered jobs to 28... so 16%. With me, you will have offered 29 jobs so 16.8%. However, if you look here and here. She points to the ledger in front of the man. You will find you interviewed the same person... twice. So at last count, you interviewed 171, took on 29 with me - 17% intake assuming all accepted the position and signed their contract." She looks up with a smirk barely concealed on her face. "Any more questions, or may I board the ship?"

The half elf waits behind Salty, thumbing through some pages of a dog-eared book until her turn... Elenia ... Elenia Caledor, 25, I worked in a form of clerk role for the other Wizards - they forget which spell components they take you see.
Been ill so sorry not been posting to the conversation so much... In response to Joan after all the gesticulating at each other by the wanna-be cooks...
Elenia looks at Steven and Salty and says to Steven "The proof is in the cooking. I see no evidence of your culinary creations. Besides, aren't YOU rather young to be a cook?" Elenia is meant to come across as condescending to you all , rather than plain rude - comes from a lot of reading and not so much conversing with others.....
Elenia reaches for Joan's hand and shakes it. "I'm applying for the clerk position ... but don't worry - you wouldn't be any competition anyway. You are right though about females watching out for one another - only 3... She turns to look at the ugly little halfing described by Joan and turns back to the group "Well maybe 4 out of a whole crowd of us here isn't much" She then turns to Nayli saying ... "A long journey to get here has taken its toll on you. You look uncomfortable." She turns to include Mirandir in the group - "My name is Elenia. I'm looking forward to this opportunity. You look like you know something of the sea ... Mirandir." Turning to the tall, tusked orc... "Salty - how nice. You made something for the trip? I don't believe women, men or orcs are bad luck at sea. Elenia then reaches out to try some of the Yukka.
Elenia stands in the queue with a old, battered rucksack over her back and a much less battered waterproof bag on the floor between her feet. She stands in the queue hunched over somewhat, with her head focused on the book between her hands. It is a book with a fairly non descript cover, which appears to have well thumbed pages. After being tapped on the shoulder by Errol... Elenia tucks her book away in the waterproof bag, turns around and mutters: "He can keep his germs to himself..." At Joan Porter.
