--------------------
Morven Greigor is a young, light green Half-Orc of hulking height and physique, radiating an aura of indomitability, though without the metaphorical chip on his shoulder that often made his people outcasts. Barrel-chested and utterly bald, Morven always wears a full pirate's bandana which fully conceals the top of his head. Although his apparel varies in terms of weaponry and amour, his ever-present bandana is always accompanied by a loose fitting, practical outfit which does not conceal his movement and provides plenty of storage. The other unchanging element of his standard look are two coiled whips mounted upon his belt on either hip; one made of leather and one of steel. In battle, sometimes these whips come into play, but Morven is more likely to be found in the thick of melee with a long-hafted weapon, raising the morale of others through saga and deed. He was fortunate enough to have been blessed with fierce tusks from his Orc father but the lighter skin tone of his mother. He has tattoo's of bulls adorning his forearms, back and torse; the bull being an animal sacred to his Orc tribe.
Morven's life and path is a curious product of his city-raised teenage years and his brutal childhood; the latter spent after leaving his tribe (the Skildarn's) after becoming inspired by tales of the wonders of mercenary life and abundant coin, tales spun by one of the merchants who frequently spent time visiting the tribe and trading necessities for the furs the tribe obtained through hunting and raiding. Always feeling he had been meant for greater things than the pet plaything of the tribe's shaman (one extreme bout of rage had left his hair and scalp a casualty of the campfire), Morven smuggled himself away from his tribe as a young teenager in the back of a wagon and never looked back. He soon found work as a hired thug in the closest city and worked his way up to means and status from there, becoming a well-respected warrior in his own right.
Now a few years older, a little more prideful and far more heavily scarred as a result of the mercenary life and rough times mixed between sailing and tavern brawls, Morven has a deep fascination with life at sea. His tribe was utterly land-locked and the first time he saw the vast expanse of the ocean, he felt it calling to him. Now a warrior-sailor by trade, Morven is a vastly prideful young man who has been known to take great offence at any perceived slight. His unusual ferocity and near un-earthly toughness also allows him to fight on long beyond where most men would be at death's door, so men naturally learn to be wary of giving offence to the big Half-Orc.
Morven is a pious worshipper of Abadar and has made a point of learning much about the faith of The Patient One; seeing his zealous obsession to gain more and more wealth, through means fair or foul, as a way of showing deference to the God of wealth, civilisation and order. An ambitious and talented man, Morven's pride is matched only by his ambitions...

Please could you copy your sheet into your avatar so we all use the same format.
those of you with hero lab who want the full party in por. file PM me your email and I will send it across
Joan Porter
Wow. That's a lot of work. Nicely done, DM! :)
Three quick questions:
1. If there is a part of the sheet that says something like "custom trait" or otherwise has place filler, can we fix it to say what the trait (or whatever) actually is?
2. Late last night I updated Joan's equipment to buy 20 more arrows and one more day's trail rations. Those updates are not reflected on the hero lab sheet. Is it okay if I make those changes?
3. Is it okay for us to add our background and other information at the bottom of the alias profile below the standard sheet?
Thanks!
DM_Judd
Ok so:
1. custom trait is the one you stated in your original all stat bonuses are added but the names are not in the event that your feat or trait is not stat based I know about it but the name will need updating sorry an oversight on my part. i have all the major stuff on my Hero Lab but some of the companion stuff I am missing hence the gaps.
2.yes I will do the same. From now on these are your Character sheet to update and the like. I have just realised that you will need the BB code version or it wont look as pretty.
Edit: On its way salty.
3.yes of course.

I've been peeking at fellow player (and GM) profiles, just for fun.
It looks like we have three people from the UK, two from the US (myself included), one from Mexico, and one from parts unknown.
It also looks like we have at least three teachers (myself included), a couple lawyers, and a few Pathfinder Society persons.
We seem to have a fairly wide range of ages (from early 20s to early 40s, I believe) and a wide range of interests.
Some are pretty new to these boards, and some have already made thousands of posts.
It's neat to learn a bit about my fellow gamers. :)
Tacticslion
Having been unable to join the crew of the Lady Sue Thomas decided to try his luck with the newly arrived ship. whether he managed to get on board is another story for a different time.
Ah! Now I follow! Cool. :D
(I was under the apparently-false impression that the "square rigged" ship was, in fact, the Lady Sue via the first post. Apologies!)
Tacticslion
Not a player, but Thomas (my character) made an appearance sooooo...
32, going to be 33 this year, married, stay-at-home-father, and a big-time talker (as anyone familiar with my posting history probably realizes...). Former teacher. Former manager.
Tacticslion
Oh, hey, Developer Mark Moreland, c. 2009, on Use Rope and the replacements thereof. I don't know how you'd rule it, GM, but since I was curious and happened to find that post/thread when looking it up, I thought I'd share! :D
EDIT:
Also, just so this game shows up for me, I'm thinking of posting the following in gameplay, exactly as-"quoted" below (just a copy/paste).
Meanwhile, outside, Thomas - the "walking bush" - works at getting on the square-rigged ship!
... after which I will probably not post again for some time.
Again, this is just so I don't have to keep this tab open just to follow the game.
I will only do this with GM permission, however, and if you'd rather me post something else, or want to PM some wording for me to post instead (under my Thomas Silverspoon alias, or not), I'm more than open to the idea. Thanks! :D
Joan Porter
If Tac/Thomas wants to dot in gameplay to follow the campaign, but DM_Judd doesn't want him showing up under current characters in the characters tab, DM_Judd could just edit campaign info to mark the character Thomas as "previous" without marking the player Tacticslion as "previous." That should do the trick. DM's choice, of course. :)

Lady Sue officers, as far as I can tell:
Captain Demelza Loophook - female (?)
Master of Sails/First Mate Ms. Avalon - female (?)
Quartermaster Mr. Stokes - male human
Boatswain Mr. Gleambright - male gnome
(Lead Cook Mr. Winter - male (?))
Have I got it right so far? :)

I'm a 34-year-old high school English and Drama teacher in Florida in the USA.
I'm happily married to the shrubbery (Tacticslion) and have two adorable sons ages 3-years-old and 5-months-old.
I've enjoyed playing 3.5 and then Pathfinder (whenever life has allowed the time) for almost ten years now (as long as I've been married), and have also had some fun experiences with the Star Wars RPG.
I've been a player in a few PBPs here, and I GM one.
I'm excited to be in a nautical campaign, and I'm really enjoying everyone's characters, including the NPCs! :)

Guess my prior attempt didn't get up.
34yo Attorney from Virginia who also happens to be the PFS Venture Captain for Richmond.
First dice based PBP, but I've been doing freeform PBP and PBEM on and off for almost 20 years. Most recent effort was in the Star Wars Writing/Gaming/etc. group I'm in. My character in that Kz'set, he's a Verpine Sith. So yes, I can write insects. Note, in that format writing other PCs is allowed and, given the timeframe, usually essential (We did all that in 4 weeks).

Hi all just to reiterate please make all changes to character sheets that you have stated previously before Monday.
I appreciate that so far it has been quite heavy on the story building and lighter on the RP but we are getting to the RP soon. As soon as you set sail, you will be somewhat freer to do as you wish.... within reason.
Have a Happy Easter weekend if you celebrate it or a good weekend otherwise. Will post tomorrow.

Lady Sue officers:
Captain Demelza Loophook - female half-orc
Master of Sails/First Mate Ms. Avalon - female half-elf
Quartermaster Mr. Stokes - male human
Boatswain Mr. Gleambright - male gnome
Lead Cook Mr. Toby Winter - male halfling
...
As for gear, Joan would prefer to keep wearing her leather armor (no ACP) and carrying her weapons, if she's allowed to do so. Would she be allowed to do so?
---
FYI, I'm packing tonight and heading out of town tomorrow morning to join family for Easter. I'll be back in town late Monday. I'll still try to post each day, but it's going to be something of a whirlwind trip, plus baby and pre-schooler, so, my apologies in advance if I miss a day or two.
Have a lovely Easter weekend, all!

Hi guys just a quick bit of housekeeping. As we continue it occurs to me I need to explain some key details about the ship. so here they are:
She looks like this, Top down view (sorry for it being so primitive)
She has 32 crew and 5 officers, including yourselves. They break down like this:
Captain Loophook.
1 Ships porter (Joan)
Ms Avalon; Master of Sail
15 Sailors (Including Morvan, Mirandir and Errol)
Mr Stokes, Quartermaster
1 Ships Clerk (Elenia)
Mr Gleambright, Boatswain
4 Carpenters (one is on your watch an elderly dwarf called Brayan he is constantly anxious because he can’t swim.)
Mr Winters, Ships cook and Midshipman
1 Cooks mate (Salty)
10 Able sea persons (Including Nayil)
The ship has 4 masts each with Fully Battened sails (no climbing rigging.)
Here is a cross section of the ship:
1. Captain’s Cabin.
2. Officers cabins.
3. Larder.
4. Galley.
5. Crew quarters.
6. Workshop and boat store (Where the Jolly Boats are stored).
7. Boat supplies (spare rope, canvas etc.).
8. Tiller room.
9. Cargo hold – The hold is massive when empty it has movable mezzanine floors that are suspended on ropes and secured by wooden pegs to the interior wall of the ship.
10. Quartermasters’ office.
11. Ballast
The Vertical lines indicate the masts of the ship.
Rule clarifications:
Being an Able Seaman means you can turn your hand to any job on the ship but you do it slower than someone who has specialised if you wish to do the job as fast as some who has specialised the DC become harder(Min +5). I hope this is acceptable.
I will normally give you the bare minimum of information. If you want any further info with regards to a situation just ask. If you think you need a roll just roll. In the event that it was not necessary I will just ignore the result. I will share easily noticed stuff in a spoiler, However I may PM you the results if personal. Be aware I might also roll some checks for you in secret.
As I mentioned this is the first PBP I have DM'd so it will be an evolving process to begin with, thanks for bearing with me. I hope you are enjoying the narrative aspect of the campaign.
Any further questions? Any Suggestions?
Cheers all
Joan Porter
Neat stuff! It's good to get an idea of the ship layout and who else is on board.
I always enjoy character interaction and story the most, so never a need to rush into combat on my account!
Joan would definitely be curious to listen in on what the officers talk about at dinner, so if you want to share any conversation snippets or summary, GM, I'd always be interested. (I also understand if it's too much for you, though.)
Also, how did the Captain react when Joan asked about keeping a dagger on her as a tool? (She wants to be prepared, but she definitely does not want to be flogged as an insubordinate assassin!)

I then order these 1st to last and assign a score like this:
6th=0
5th=1
4th=2
3rd=3
2nd=4
1st=5
The overall equation for this example looks like this:
Bluff + Sense Motive = Total
Elenia: (-1) 5th=0 + (+1) 4th=+1 = +1
Joan: (+11) 1st=+4 + (+8) 1st=+4 = +8
Nayli: (+1) 4th=+1 + (+7) 2nd=+3 = +4
Mirandir: (+3) 2nd=+3 + (+2) 3rd=+2 = +5
Morven: (+2) 3rd=+2 + (-1) 5th=0 = +2
Salty: (-1) 5th=0 + (-1) 5th=0 = 0
I worked this out for everyone in the bet (so Errol and Brayan too).
This should hopefully account for everyone's relative skill but means that luck plays a large part also.

Thinking at the future... Can Salty use his Crafter's Fortune extract to help him with his Profession (Cooking) checks?
RAW it only helps Craft checks.
